"This Hotel Is A Death Trap !!! Broken Wooden Balcony Coming Away From The Walls Waiting For Someone To Die, Food Was Awful, My Matress Had Old Urine Stains Smelt Like Something Off A Rubbish Dump, Manager Rodrigo Or What Ever His Name Was Is Totally Incompetent, Noise At Front Of Hotel Kept Us Awake All Night, Swimming Pool Had Gime All Around The Edge Of Pool & Tiling, Broken Glass Table Avoid This Hotel At All Cost If You Value Your Life."

"Don't let the bad reviews put you of this was nice little hotel staff friendly rooms were cleaned daily. stayed there for a week in march. food was nice but very basic. would recommend a room facing the pool not facing the strip as you can get the noise from the bars and restaurant which stay open vey late so remember your ear plugs. you'll see a blue and yellow train passing down the strip every 20 minutes this is a good way of getting from new town to old town only makes three stop so its dead easy to find your way round. In the old town there a fantastic restaurant called don Carlos this was the nicest food i'd ever tasted you pay a bit more than some of the restaurant well worth the extra money famous for sir cliff Richards eating there. Ell Rancho steak house was another nice restaurant turn right out of the hotel walked down the strip to you come to it."

"Before we left for holiday i read bad reviews of the hotel and was even thinking of changing hotels but was pleasenty suprised when we arrived. The Hotel was very clean and staff were always polite & busy working they seemed to like their jobs, restaurant staff were especially excellent. Choice of food excellent, only downside was because it was buffett, food was not very hot. Excellent location, loads of restaurants and bars. For For the first night we had a room facing the strip and it is very Very noisy, we paid £45 euros to upgrade the pool side which was fine. I have rated it a 9 beacuse of the noise but the hotel cant really help this. "

"The hotel Aldeia is in a prime location, it can get abit noisy if you stay in room with street view as the hotel is on the strip. But I would stay in this hotel again, the grounds are nice and the rooms are ok too."

good hotel with brill location
"Me and my friend have just arrived home from our stay in this hotel, after booking our holiday we read some rally bad reviews, so we didn't know what to expect when we got there. Luckily we could not find any fault with this hotel the whole time we were there, we had an absolute ball, i think the Aldeia would be suitable for any age group, we are in our 20's and were out until 6 in the morning most days, so i couldnt comment on the noise levels. The rooms were clean with plendy of drawer and cupboard space, the pool is also massive and plenty of space to sunbathe. The location is FAB everything is right on the doorstep. Lots of nice bars, cafe and pubs nearby, and lots of nice bags and shoe shops right accross the road. We only made breakfast on our first morning but I thought it was nice. I have just booked up to go back to Portugal in 3 weeks because we enjoyed it so much, unfortunatly the hotel Aldeia is fully booked, otherwise we would have booked that hotel in a second. Cant wait to go back!!!!!!!!!"

"Having booked a two week break in a self catering part of this hotel we were forced to move into the main hotel after one night in the self catering apartment. We moved in 16 February, moved out 1st March 2007. We were offered a first floor room overlooking the busy STRIP, the main street, in this area there are approximately 12 disco bars pumping out extremely loud music until three o'clock in the morning. Despite secondary double glazing and old fashioned louvre shutters on the windows, the noise of passing traffic could still be heard, we dreaded to think what the noise would be like when the music started. We asked if a pool view room was available and told that we would have to pay â¬65 for the upgrade. This we reluctantly did. The room we were allocated was clean with fresh bed linen. The wardrobe's sliding door were warped and stuck continually. The windows were smudged with a greasy film and it was difficult to see out. The window frame were dirty, with accumulated dust in the corners. A draught blew almost continually under the balcony door. The hotel itself is dark and caught in a time warp, the decor is dingy and at least 20 years out of date. The breakfast for which we had to pay â¬6:50 each were adequate, but had we not got our own kettle and tea I would have been hard pressed for a decent cup of tea. Needless to say we went out every day before nine am, taking a coach trip or a walk into Albufeira town, or to the beach. We tried to stay away from the hotel until we were ready to sleep. The pool area has dirty, faded sun loungers, the tiles around the pool are cracked and in places the surface worn down, they should have been replaced years ago. In other places green mould was abundant on the tiles in some of the shaded areas, and in some not so shaded areas. Smoking is permitted in all parts of the hotel, except the dining room and the whole place smells of stale tobacco. Even in the elevators At night the discos could be heard not too loudly, but enough to intrude into one's sleep, although at the week-end the sound did move up a few notches, making a decent sleep difficult. As if that wasn't bad enough, we had loud jungle type drums banging away at breakfast time. No soft "wake up music" here. I asked if the racket could be turned down, and was told rather curtly that people ask for it to be played. I argued the point and the music was turned off. Surprise surprise, no one asked for it to be turned on again. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Its location and close proximity to the noisy discos and bars rule it out of any future visits."

"The location was good right next to the strip. However, it was very noisy. The staff acts almost confrontational if you ask a question. Ask for the bus schedule they will wave you to a book. Even if not a person is at the desk the staff mainly the men act as if you are bothering them. It seemed like they did not want tourists at all. Rooms were okay but if there is a problem in the room the answer will come back nothing is perfect. We were in a big group and similar experiences by all."

The worst hotel we have ever stayed in !!
"Checked into the Hotel early on a Sunday morning and the only one Receptionist was excellent and welcoming. She was very busy with checkins and outs. We got into our bedroom about 2pm and we were really disappointed - the room was dusty and not cleaned properly There was dirt in the corners and the hairs in the bathroom. The windows were also smudged and the room was so dated with the old wardrobe doors and window shutters - it was just awful. The only thing that was clean was the sheets and pillowcases along with the white towels. I did not lift the sheets to check the mattress, as I knew if there was a stain I would not sleep in it. We decided just to make the most of our stay. We went back to reception to get the safe key (deposit of E15) and the remote control (deposit of E20) - all refunded on departure - again only one friendly male receptionist. Our 3 year old son was hungry so we decided to get him a hot dog by the pool bar, which was suppose to serve food daily - they said all food was finished until the evening time. Looking round this pool bar - the glasses were dirty and the ceiling was just black with mildew. We went for a swim - nice clean large pool and kiddies pool but the relaxer chairs were faded - this did not matter. Had a drink and then back to the room. The next morning looking out at the pool area - our glasses were still sitting on the table from the afternoon before !!! Went down for breakfast as our package was for B&B - what a mistake. Again the dirt of the restaurant delph and cutlery and the curtains etc. Swags and tails covered in mildew. My husband wanted something hot, so he got beans, bacon and scrambled eggs - all freezing. The bread was hard and the ham and cheese was dried up. I could not wait to get out of here. The staff in this area were not friendly at all - they all looked as if they hated their job and could not be bothered doing anything - just the basics to get their shift done !! We did not go down for breakfast again but went for a beautiful breakfast every morning in a Scottish Restaurant across the road "The Kilt & Kelt". We were talking to other residents and they all said the same - it was awful but at least we paid the supplement for a pool view room cos to the other end of the Hotel - was street clubs etc and the music was very loud - some of them complained and got moved to apartments. The reception and housekeeping staff were nice and friendly and always a welcoming smile - the bar and restaurant staff was not. However, one of the âolderâ male receptionist made a smart face behind a female English girl who was having difficulty with telephone codes and asked for help â he really did not want to bother. Never seen a manager the whole week. Also why just one receptionist for the size of the Hotel - not enough?? Would NEVER go back here again and would most certainly not recommend it to anyone. Charged E55 for a taxi from the airport but pre-booked the airport shuttle going back and it cost E35. Also a good 20 minute walk to the beach and relax there cos the walk back is all uphill and you will be wrecked at the end of it !! We did have a wonderful time in Portugal and loved the country as we did quite a bit of sight seeing, day trips etc. The beaches and the marina for the day cruises was excellent. The food served in the local restaurants was excellent (apart from you do get tortured with sales reps) along with the hospitality and we will return but NOT to this Hotel. How is it classed as 4 star â I have worked in the Catering and Hospitality Sector as 20 years and I would not even gave it 1 star!!"

"No way is this hotel a 4*! The rooms are grotty. The food was awful and the poolside run down. Oh, and the noise - Great if you're on a "largin it" holiday. Terrible if you want to get away for a restful holiday. Now then, if you go out for a meal at night. Don't go to the restaurants on the strip. You'll get hounded by salesmen all the way through your meal. The same goes for the local beach too. It's a hike to get there, you get no peace while you're there, and the hill is incredibly steep on the way back. Watch out for the salesmen too! All in all, steer well clear! I'll put this one down to experience!"

I don't usually do reviews, but ..
"Felt I had to for this one!! My boyfriend and I arrived at Hotel da Aldeia on 22nd July. It was bang in the middle of the strip so our hearts sank when the taxi driver dropped us off. It got worse when we got to our room and pulled upon the curtains. We were directly opposite "The Garage" club and knew that it was gonna be noisy. It didn't disappoint, it turned out that this club was probably the most popular club on the strip (especially with teenagers). We asked the following day if we could move rooms. We did a few days later but were told that we had to pay 10 euros a night etc. The receptionist was miserable and not particularly helpful and so were the poolside snackbar staff. I have to say that the rooms were okay and the pool was too. We would go back to Albufeira again, but definately not to this hotel and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone unless you want to be within stumbling distance of the bars or you're on a hen/stag do."

Great if your looking for an 18-30 holiday!
"We stayed at this hotel from 15th - 24th June 2006. we arrived at 10pm and were given a room facing the strip. After 4 sleepless nights we asked if we could be moved to the back of the hotel. the staff were quite abrupt and unfriendly saying that if we wanted to move we would have to pay an extra 10 euros a night! They also said that we should have realised that a room facing the street was bound to be noisy and therfore we should have requested a pool view. After contacting the travel agents from the hotel we were told that the hotel allocates the room on arrival and we were not given a choice. We would go to Portugal again but not to this area and certainly not this hotel"

"We were lucky, everyone who got a ROAD side room asked to be moved, didnt like the live music bouncning pictures of the wall (literally). Staff (other than the cleaning ladies) a mixture of rude offhand and surley. Breakfast, fortunately I like bread and marmalade as most of the rest was inedable, well Jim it wasn't food as we know it though some may have been alive. If the food ran out--- tough. It was clean plenty of sunbeds and very central, and, quiet through the day around the pool To empty the bar at night, turn the music up as far as it will go, over breakfast, how loud can we get the music. If this hotel is four starI will perform on the North Pole nude."
