Very nice, excellent service!
"Very nice hotel for the price payed. Clean, excellent staff, nice pool and restaurant. 5 minutes walk to the beach, ideal for small children!"

"Perfect hotel for a short break, good food, very friendly & helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble, we went all inclusive and I can only describe it as being fantastic value for money, the food was cooked from fresh no buffet lunches or dinners.
During our stay there was no evening entertainment, however they maybe later in the season. All in all a perfect stay for us."

Apartments basic decor but quiet, clean, value for money and beautiful beach within 10min walking distance.
"Just returned from our family holiday at Balaia Mar apartments and found the place to be very clean, comfortable, friendly staff and good value for money for a family with young children. Had read all the reviews from Club Med Da Balaia so was a bit disapointed to find that Balaia Mar apartments were not the same company though located right next door. There was no kids club or family entertainment available and was a little envious when walking past Da balaia every day on our way to the beautiful Praia Maria Luisa beach just behind the hotel to see how many family based activities were running there. However would highly recommed Balaia Mar and they were extremely helpful in letting us stay on in our apartments for extra nights at a minimal charge when we were delayed due to volcanic ash. Will definitely return next yr at this time as resort in general not too over crowded."

It's not club med but it turned out ok!
"First of all check where you are actually staying! There are a number of hotels and apartments in the area called da balaia. The most usual entries which come up when you type in da balaia are for the club med complex. So we went expecting something completely different from what we actually got! That said we had a wonderful relaxing holiday. We were given 2 huge studios each with 2 en suite bedrooms, a large fully equipped kitchen, a lounge and huge balcony/terrace. The food was of a very good standard if lacking a little in variety and was served by the most helpful and friendly waiters. The beach is lovely and just a 5 minute walk away (past the delights of club med!). We were able to walk (10 mins) to a small town which had shops and restaurants and a small beach. Overall if you are looking for a quiet, relaxing and hassle free holiday this hotel is for you. If you're after lots of things to do check out club med!"

great green location, excellent swimming pool and near beach
"The hotel was good value for money. The swimming pool was really nice and the water wasn't cold at all. Breakfast quite good too and although the same bufet every day, there were a few options to choose from. The only minus in the breakfast was no vegatables at all, not even a tomato or cucumber to eat your sandwich with.
The hotel is located outside central Albufeira which I thought was a plus, as it was much greener and quiter than the city. I went there with my boyfriend and some friends and we rented a car so moving around was not an issue. There were quite a few families with children but it was not a problem for us.
The only disappointment was that we asked for a double bed but got a twin instead but we just moved them together and it was fine. It is worth noting that rooms are completely different on different floors, so even though you pay for the same type of room you get something completely different on different floors. The rooms on the ground floor are bigger but do not have balconies wheras rooms on the first floor are slightly smaller but have balconies. I haven't seen the rooms on the second floor.
The Internet at the reception is very expensive, so we only used it when really needed.
The beach near the hotel is one of the nicest in the area and you can rent water scooters etc., you have to pay fo the beds on the beach, which I found quite expensive.
The best way for me to summarise the hotel and the location is that I would reccomend it to my friends and would go again."

Decent Hotel but expensive bar
"The hotel is nice and clean. Room was basic but with a very nice clean bathroom. The main things I wish I'd known before booking are; The pool is absolutely freezing cold all the time and takes a LOT of courage to jump in. The bar prices are expensive compared to the bars and restaurants nearby e.g. 3 euros per pint, a five minute walk to a nearby bar will get you 1 - 1.50 euros per pint. Because of this, the bars were empty most of the time.
There are a few pool tables in the sports bar but it doesn't open until around 8pm most nights when I was there and it is 6 euros per hour to use one.
The wifi internet cost 9 euros for one hour but there was an offer on which gave an extra half hour. The main problem with the wifi is that it doesn't really work anywhere other than in reception so you may as well use their computers.
The chicken baguette is a dry bun with a sprinkling of chicken "dust". Maybe it is the left over crumbs off slicing the chicken for something else. I asked for proper pieces of chicken in my bun the second time and they said they couldn't do it.
Location was good. Turning left out of the hotel and walking for 15 minutes takes you to a massive range of restaurants on a road that runs parallel with the strip, which is only a few more minutes walk away. The bus runs to here also. We tried a few restaurants here, some terrible (Rannis) and some great, the Balti Tandoori Indian restaurant was fantastic. Probably the best Indian restaurant there.
There is a great bar next to the roundabout (forgot the name) with a big poster of "Gill", a guitarist/singer that plays there almost every night. He and his wife are good hosts, and he's a good entertainer. He offers the choice to join in as karaoke too.
Turning right out of the hotel and walking for about 4 minutes brings you to a quieter range of bars and restaurants. Jollies Restaurant/bar became a favourite as they serve excellent meals with proper chunky chips (not the silly little french fries you get everywhere else). It is run by English people with a Portugese chef (a happy one).
The beach is a 5 minute walk away from the hotel.
Overall the hotel was a good base with a few things they could improve upon to make it a great hotel. Dropping the prices of the drinks might give the bars a bit more of an atmosphere. But if you are happy to go out all the time, it is a pleasant place with nice reception staff and great cleaning staff."

Quiet hotel away from tourists
"Me and my boyfriend booked this hotel rather cheap as a treat after our exams at college and so expected at least one hitch, but it was a wonderful holiday. The area is nice and quiet, far away enough from the touristy area where egg and chips and english pubs ruin the feeling of being abroad. That being said, if you want to have a look round the shops the taxis are so cheap and take about 10 mins to get you to the main strip.
The room was very clean and the air-conditioning was a necessity! The little fridge we had was very useful too. It was not exactly luxurious but who wants to sit in their room all holiday!?
The reception desk was extremely helpful - arranging taxis, giving information about days out and generally very friendly with good english.
The beach was on the doorstep and is beautiful and we used the hotel pool a lot which is very pleasant although you have to get a sunbed early if you want a good spot! Breakfast is served by the pool (in summer at least) and is great. The evening meal is expensive, we would definately recommend the restaurants just outside the hotel on the main road, the wait was sometimes long but the seafood was fantastic and much much cheaper than the hotel prices.
In essence this was a relaxing holiday, perfect for our first holiday away as a couple."
