"I work in hotels myself, so was really really looking forward to being on the "other side" of the desk,(so to speak). And we (myself, husband & 2 kids) were not disappointed. From the minute we arrived we fell in love with Portugal & the Brisa Sol. The apartment was so clean with plenty of space, towels changed everyday. The only thing is the rock hard pillows and mattresses!!!!!. But I asked the housekeeper for softer pillows and she came by 30mins later with them!! GREAT. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Also just watch around the pool, after a while it can get slippy. Both kids fell even when they were being careful. And could have done with a little freezer compartment in the fridge We walked every night to the old town (did not go near the "Strip", as were advised not to with kids) - the selection of Restaurants was just wonderful. Prices not too bad - most expensive meal for the 4 of us on adult menus with bottle Wine and minerals - €80. But please please try the Mexican Resturant on the beach front - we went back there twice - the Ribeye Steak for €12.90 is brilliant - Best we had!!!! So yes yes yes to the Brisa Sol - we will be back "

"We have just returned from the Brisa Sol and found it to be a delightful Aparthotel. Our room was on a low floor and over looked the pool. The maid service was excellent and the staff were helpful. The Brisa Sol is conveniently situated between the old town and the lively strip.Taxi rank close by, taxis cost3.25 euros to goto the strip or the old town, alternatively you can catch the "noddy train" just outside the hotel for 3.5 euros for an all day ticket, There are excellent restaurants to eat in down in the old town. opposite the hotel there is a KFC and McDonalds! There is also a supermarket next door and nice little bar on the corner. The cake shop at the Brisa Sol and down the road are well worth a visit to treat yourself. We will definitley go back to the Brisa Sol in the future"

"Stayed for 1 week 6th Feb to 13th, we booked 2 1 bedrooomed apartments, cannot fault them fantastic size apartments, 4 adults and 1 Baby. The services were excellant although we ate out most evenings, we did have 1 evening meal in hotel which was good value for money. Would definately return and they are suitable for families also. Immaculate rooms and breakfast was both buffet and cooked food. Booked as package with Easyjet, good flight both ways. had 3 meals there. Very centrally situated. Great little restuarant in Old Town called O Vilerio's great tourist menu and half bottle of wine for Euros9.50"

Watch out

"Watch out with this hotel, especially if you have booked through Thomsons. We booked 2 pool view studio, at no extra cost, according to the travel agent and brochure. When we arrived, our second visit, we had a delightful view of a very noisy car park/unloading area. When questioning this with the reception we were informed it was 29 euros a day each for pool view, and that these were the rooms booked by Thomsons. On questioning the very inexperienced about this, all he could say was that he had several complaints about the same thing and could do nothing about it. The arrogrant and very unhelpful staff on the reception were only interested in the extra cost and not customer satisfaction. If we had been aware of an extra cost on booking we would have paid it, but neither the brochure we booked through, the current edition or the Yhomsons booking agent showed any extra cost for this. Our holiday was ruined by this noisy and small balacony (obviously the cheap seats in the hotel. The room was kept clean by the Chamber maids but cooking facilities are cramped and inadequate, also the food is tinned that is served in the restaurant, we saw it delivered, MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR BOOKING, THIS HOTEL WILL NOT GO OUT OF ITS WAY TO HELP MAKE YOUR HOLIDAY ENJOYABLE, and its staff could do with a course in customer satisfaction"

Nice but wont return

"Just returned from Brisa Sol, Our thought are as follows. We had early flight which meant we had to leave our house at 1.30 am so by the time we got to Brisa ((9.45am) having had no sleep we just wanted to relax in our room and catch up with ourselves unfortuunately our room was not ready, the rep had said they might not be, so we had to occupy ourselves until 1pm, I dont feel as though I have arrived somewhere untill I have unpacked and settled so I was a little bit restless, when our room was ready we were not dissapointed, we were on the 4th floor with pool view, very spacious room, nice and clean, the wife works in hotel so always checks cleanliness as soon as she gets somewhere. So to sum up, room big, clean, nice view. The hotel is situated between the old and new towns, it has a bar and evening entertainment, we only had one drink in the bar and didnt see any of the entertainment so I cannot really comment. It has a cake shop attached to the side which as other reviews have said do scrummy cakes, we sat here and tried them while waiting for our room. All reception staff we came in contact with were helpful, polite and spoke very good english. I cannot fault the location even though it is on a main road it was not a problem, there is a large supermarket next door and a few eating places opposite. The walk to the old town they say is about ten minutes, I dont know as I dont wear a watch on my hols but its not far, the old town was not what I was expecting, there are plenty of places to eat and drink and I'm sure you will find one to suit you taste, the area has recently had the square and paths done up, watch the floor as it can be a bit slippy. We didnt walk to the strip but went on the tourist train the first couple of times them taxi other times, tourist train 2 euros each, taxi was 3.75 euros. So you ask while the title "nice but wont return" well the reason is this, and this is purely out opinion/experiance. Firstly we felt although Albufeira was very nice there was something missing, felt a little bit like Spain but not quite the same level of freindliness/atomosphere, thats not to say people werent freindly, they were but something was lacking for us, as I say this is purely our opinion our freinds joined us the second week and they said they would go back no problem, for us we will go back to Portugal but not to such a touristy place ( we chose Albufiera because we had 2 15 yo with us this time) it wasnt Portugeuse enough for us but you have to sample these places before you can have an opinion. Secondly, the pool was opened at 9am each morning and people would run to get a sunbed, we seen someone who had a dodgy hip and would struggle to walk during the day but boy could they run at 9 when pool was opened, now I know this happens almost everywhere but I just dont see the point when there were still beds left after the rush, I feel there are certain places around the world where this doesnt happen, it doesnt spoil our holiday but it annoys me and as such we shall be going back to the caribbean next instead of Europe. So to sum up after all that babble. 1, Very nice hotel 2. Good location 3. Old town plenty of restaurants but also late night bars for the younger peeps 4. New town, I actually preferred it here as it was what I expected 5. Sunbeds 15 euros for two 6. Eating out varied from 45 to 100 euros for 4 with one or two rounds of drinks. 7. Drinks, depends where you drink, 8. Shopping, we strugled on our shopping spree to find something we liked, perhaps we're fussy, there are a lot of shops selling the same touristy things. 9. Sea, very cold but nice, nice beach, busy. Hhmmm not too good at this review lark but I try."

"We Stayed at the Brisa Sol & upon arrival had a free upgrade to a pool view appartment. The hotel was very clean, the staff were very helpfull & always pleasant. The pool area was large & there are plent of amenities on site. Breakfast was help yourself continental & English styles & good quality. There is a good shop in the hotel & a bar open late. The hotel is right next door to a supermarket/shopping centre. The Brisa Sol is a 15 min walk down hill from the lovely old town & it's pleasant bars & very good resaurants & bustling square. The beach near the old town is sandy, clean & large. The Brisa Sol is about 20-30 min walk to the new town which is fine if you want Skegness or Blackpool in hot weather (Chip shops, clubs & irish bars!!!)There is a handy road train/bus to take you around town at a small cost, it stops outside the hotel. We went early season so the hotel was fairly quiet, the weather was fantastic all week though."

"We booked our holiday 2 weeks prior to leaving. This is a great hotel, room very spacious, airy and clean. We were on the 2nd floor with a view towards to sea which was lovely. It would have been nice to have a view over the swimming pool but still a great view. The rooms were cleaned daily, we had breakfast included which consisted of a buffet style continental or full english. We filled up on this in the morning and then went straight out to the pool and spent all day there. Our 7 year old daughter thoroughly enjoyed the holiday and spent most of the time in the pool (the water was very cold) and making new friends. I personally enjoyed the old town better than the new town/strip. We will definitely be going to this hotel again - it is in a great location, supermarket right next door. The weather was also fantastic (only had one day where it was cloudy and went quite cool). Could do with entertainment laid on for the kids during the day and early evening but this was not too much of a problem as there were plenty of children for our daughter to play with."

"Myself and my husband are both in our sixtys and have just come back from spending a week in the Brisa Sol aparthotel and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It was our first visit to Portugal and we will certainly be going back there and to the Brisa Sol. We were in a studio apartment and we had plenty of room with a lovely big balcony overlooking the pool. Linen was changed daily providing you leave your towels in the bath so they know you want clean ones. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Pool area was kept spotlessly clean as was the rest of the hotel and complex. It is situated in between the old town and the new town, but we prefered the old town. There was different entainment in the square of the old town every night and plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. We went to BUDDYS to eat a couple of nights and the staff were very nice and it was very reasonable. The new town is more suitable for the younger people although we had a couple of nice meals in there at LABAMBA'S. The little road train was very handy as it stopped outside the Brisa Sol and taxis are very cheap. The cake shop next to the hotel is a must visit. I would certainly give this hotel a 10 out of 10 and it is situated between the old and new towns. The beach is also lovely pure sand."

"i travelled with my husband and two boys (aged 13 and 14) to the brisa sol for 2 weeks and was not disappointed with the accommodation. we requested a high floor room with a double bed and both of these were supplied on arrival. the room was very spacious and was cleaned to a good standard daily. the kitchen was adequately equipped with everything you could need. the cleaners were very pleasant and very helpful. the staff on reception were also very pleasant and were only too happy to answer any questions we had. they were very good with the boys and always had a smile and a wave when the boys passed. the pool was very clean and opened at 9.00am. there was always a queue at the door but never too bad. there were ample beds, cushions were available free of charge but i feel that a few more umbrellas should have been made available as these were always grabbed straight away. there was a charge to play tennis but the boys enjoyed this and managed to play several times over the course of the holiday. there was also an indoor pool which was positioned around the main pool. this was brilliant and ideal when you fancied a swim with a break from the sun. this was definitely a 4star quality hotel and would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. the one negative thing about the room was not being able to sit on the balcony late in the evening. i am not sure whether this was as a result of the fact that we were on the top floor but it was extremely windy and went quite chilly in the late evening. this was the one disappointing thing we found with albufeira. there was occasionally a nice breeze during the day, which was much appreciated, but in the evening when the temperature cooled down the winds worsened and i had to take out a small jacket or cardigan to put round my shoulders and arms. we went self-catering so cannot comment on the food but what i can say is that there is a mcdonalds and kfc across the road with a very large supermarket next door with a pizza hut in the basement so if you have fussy children you will be fine. this accommodation is ideally situated as it is moreorless in the middle of both the strip and the old town and they are both worth a visit. if you like chinese, try the happy house, which is just off the strip. they have a large menu or serve a buffet for 8.95euros each. the food was lovely and the staff very very pleasant. the rep who looked after us was ben and he was in attendance twice a day, 4 days out of 7. he was always very pleasant and only too happy to answer any questions.
