"We were very suprised when we arrived here and was very pleased with the way the complex was layed out. Everything was as we wanted including a washing machine in the kitchen which was excellent as we have children. The pool was a little dirty but was cleaned regually. The snack bar was adequally priced and the staff were friendly. but please hire a safe and put all valuables away as my children had 10 euros stolen from their mickey mouse purses!!! On the whole a lovely complex. The distance from the main area was quite a walk approx 30 - 35 mins but there were plenty of shops nearby to get essentials and a couple of good local bars (mainly irish)."

"Just returned from a week at the Vila Alba. A great place to use as a base to explore the wonders of 'The Strip' but far enough away so that the noise won't interrupt you if you are looking to get away from it all! The apartments are spacious, clean and well equipped. 5 people easily managed for the week - although fighting for the hot water became something of a ritual! The apartment blocks are all set in and around beautiful gardens and pool - all immaculate and well maintained.
As for the resort, I didnt really know what to make of it. The top of the Strip is about 10-15 mins walk although the nearer 'Irish Quarter' is only a couple of minutes away and is ideal for that last drink of the night. Cab to the Old Town cost approx â¬4 each way (no extra charge after midnight) and is money well spent if you want to go a bit more upmarket than The Strip. Lots of places seemed to be angling for same sex groups, along the lines of Magaluf/Benidorm or any other popular resort in the Med but on the whole, not too many of those groups about. It seemed to be more popular for families and couples - possibly because it was early season?
Places to try? Pub wise, on the Strip, Matts Bar is always popular, live bands most nights. The same goes for Rock Cafe in the Old Town. If you're looking for a decent place to eat, try Wild & Co right at the bottom of the Strip - not your usual steak and chips. Alternatively, for cheap and cheerful, you cant beat the American Diner.
On the whole, a great place to spend a week. There is definitely something for everyone - if you want to spend the days lounging around the pool and the evenings sipping a cool beer/cocktail, you can't go far wrong here."

The best family holiday location
"We went to the Villa Alba at the start of june we had two tennage girls with and from the start they loved it water babys both,we moved into the spacious appartment with the great balcony and slipped right into holiday mode, its quiet at night yet close enough to the night life of the strip and the array of fine eating houses ,which did not burn to big of a hole in our pockets, the staff at the villa were great and would arrange outings etc fron reception,if you have small children this is the place to be,we felt safe and at ease for the whole two weeks ,to sum it up we are going back next year to the same complex, also its three storeys high so no sky scrapers,we couldnt fault it ,if you do go you will no doubt agree with us .........ENJOY!!"

Nice Place but Very Quiet
"The apartment was spacious and very well fitted out (including washing machine). The pool area and gardens were beautiful. The drawbacks were that there were no activities organised for children, and the pool bar closed every evening at 7pm. My children are 11, 8 and 4 and they were a bit bored in the evenings. The Strip area is a bit tacky so it would have been nice to be able to return to the Vila Alba in the evenings for a pleasent drink."

Fabulous holiday for our Ruby Wedding annivesary!
"As it is our ruby wedding this year, I have booked several holidays during the last 12 months, with the BIG ONE being Mauritius in May this year, for 3 weeks. Spotted a last minute internet cheapy from First Choice and thought I would squeeze it in just before our holiday in Mauritius so we could get a "bit of a tan" prior to the BIG HOLIDAY! The First Choice holiday was in the Algarve (never been there!) and was "allocated on arrival" (never dared to do that!) but was only £170 for 2 weeks so I thought "what the heck". Well, when we arrived at Vila Alba, I thought we'd died and gone to heaven! It was a huge 2 double-bedroomed apartment, with separate fitted kitchen, with washing machine, full cooker and fridge freezer. There was a large bathroom with bath and shower, toilet and bidet. Large lounge/diner with quality furniture and yet another two sofas which converted into two more beds. The balcony was enormous and overlooked the pool and gardens which were absolutely beautiful. A 10 minute walk took us into the main "strip" where there were plenty of bars and restaurants and a walk of 40 minutes (we enjoy walking!) took us into the old town of Albufeira which was delightful. An absolutely fabulous holiday which, instead of being a "gap filler" before our main holiday, turned out to be THE big one. Mauritius will have to go some to beat this. Well done, First Choice (never travelled with them previously) for helping to turn our ruby wedding year into a year to remember."

"Just come back from Villa Alba apts in Albufeira. Had a great time. I had a 2 bed apt which was very spacious. I loved the fact that the kitchen was totally seperate from the living area. The staff were lovely, the pool great. Would recommend them for families or couples who didn't want noise at all hours of the night. The apartments were about 10 mins walk from the main strip where there were many good bars and restaurants. would definitely go back there again."

Excellent Family Getaway
"We stayed at Vila Alba this year, and are going back again next Summer.
Our ground floor Apartment was more like a Villa with a big back garden, just yards from the pool. The childrens club was excellent with both day and evening activities, people were lovely, gardens absolutely beautiful, all in all the best place for a young family to have fun and relax in beautiful surroundings. Great."

"Went to Portugal in September to stay in Clube Praia de Rocha in PDR, It was the pits, the complex is ALIVE!!! It stunk and was soo dirty. Complained and got moved to Montechoro, Albefuira, stayed at the Villa Alba....wow this place is paradise, it's like a villa not an apartment, with washing machine etc. the pool is fantastic...would highly recommend..the gardens arround the pool are gorgeous, palm trees etc, gardener there every day.."

Great base for a relaxing holiday
"We've just returned from 4 days at Villa Alba (3 friends and one 10 year old son).
We'd read mixed reviews on the place, but decided to chance it and are so glad we did.
The staff couldnt be more helpful, calling us taxis, booking trips, and even printing off our boarding cards when we made an alteration to the flight home.
We had a 2 bedroom apartment which was more than big enough for the 4 of us, huge balcony which got the sun most of the afternoon, and the kitchen facilities were just what we needed on a self-catering break.
Taxis to the main strip, or Old Town were never more than 5 euros, and we found a small complex of pubs/restaurants within a 5 minute walk. Go to Rosie and Jims Irish pub - very friendly staff, and cheap prices. Also the Indian Restaurant across the way from there.
All in all an absolutely brilliant weekend and cant wait to go back to Villa Alba
