Don`t go for all inclusive
"Hi, we`ve just came back from Luna. Don`t go for the all inclusive option. They serve alcohol only from 6-8.30 pm,there excuse was that it`s winter, normally should be served from 11- 23pm. Only one bar and we had to wait for half an hour to get drinks, horrible, drinks should be served in the glasses but they served in plastic. Rooms were nice and clean when we get there, but the cleaners were only doing the beds and changing towels for a week, they didn`t clean the room.Staff wasn`t nice, especially the men with funny moustage. No choice in food, meat to hard, every day the same things- boring. We will never go back there/."

"I have just returned from The Luna Alpinus and I must say that I was a little apprehensive before I went to the hotel, reading other visitors reviews, but it was more than a pleasant stay. There were four adults and two children in our party. After booking in, which was more than quick and completely hassle free, the hotel gave us a room on the fifth floor at the corner which provided us with two balconies. The apartment had two bedrooms, one bathroom, one shower room and sitting room which were all of a great size and were cleaned and beds made daily. For breakfast there was bacon, sausages, tomatoes, beans, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, teas and coffee which were great. For lunch and dinner there was soup, salads, meat, fish, vegetables and desserts which were also great. Drinks were the local alcohol which were fine also. Drinks were available from 11 am to 11pm daily. When it was'nt lunch and dinner time there was pizza, ham and cheese sandwiches and ice creams available. We took the courtesy bus to Falesia beach one day, which is recommendable, and the bus driver is very pleasant. There are a few restaurants and shops close by to the hotel also. Wifi is available in the front reception area too. All in all, this hotel is definitely one to visit. Dont listen to all the bad points wrote because it is impossible to please everyone. If I had to find fault it would be with just a few members of the waitering staff, but not all, as they do seem a little grumpy at times, but sure, you get that everywhere.

"My boyfriend and I stayed here in Sep 2010 and we could not believe the size of the room when we walked in!! The breakfast was varied and lovely to wake up to. Everywhere was clean and the staff were polite and helpful. Would definitely go again. Fond memories made here."

What a fantastic holiday
"We booked this last minute (booked on the Tuesday and left on the Sunday)and it was the best decision we have ever made. There were 4 of us - 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 4 so they are quite different ages and it can be difficult to please both at the same time. The hotel is now called the Luna Alpinus. We arrived at about 12.30 and the room wasn't ready (check-in wasn't until 2 so fair enough) but there was a luggage room and nice toilets in the lobby and you could sit by the pool and have a drink. When we got to the room we were really pleased - we had a 2 bedroom apartment with 2 bathrooms, the bedrooms were really spacious and the apartment was really cool even though it was hot outside - there was also air conditioning if you needed it. The kitchen had everything you could want except possibly a microwave but there was an oven with 4 hobs, oven and grill, a decent size fridge, toaster, kettle etc.... all we needed and more. There was always enough hot water for showers and even a bath if you wanted one as our 4 year old did most nights. There are two pools and we found that there were enough sun loungers although certainly the north pool where we spent our time there was a grassy area as well so you could always put your towel down there if there were not enough sun loungers. There was also toilets and showers by the pool and everything was kept very clean. Yes the pool was cold but once you were in it was fine and the kids had no problem playing there. There are places around to eat and there is a supermarket only a couple of minutes away but expect to pay around 30 euros for a family of 4, and we don't drink so that could put the price up. The food isn't cheap from the supermarket either, but there is enough choice (we only ate out 3 times the rest of the time we looked after ourselves). There is a courtsey bus to the beach, it goes and returns 3 times a day, we didn't use it though and the walk to the beach is about 20 mins. You have to book it though.
We had a fabulous time and thought this was a fantastic place to stay. It isn't for people who want lively evenings (there was evening entertainment on but it was empty when we were there, that might be different in August but there are no clubs around or anything) but it was perfect for a family who wanted a relaxing break. "Had a lovely time staying at this Hotel, staff are friendly, good clean apartment, could do with a microwave, but plenty of places to eat nearby,it is a good 3 miles away from the strip, but the hotel has a courtesy bus at certain points of the day that will take you there but if staying out late then it's a taxi back which will cost about 10 euros. The nearest beach is a good 25 min walk away"

"LOved this place I could not fault it actually. The room s were immaculate cleaned everyday. The food was great too. All you could eat and drink on the buffet nights. I paid £90 (once converted) for 2 adults and 2 kids to eat all you can eat and drink in the restaraunt buffet nights, and as they were themed it had entertainment also. Fab..
Going back again in Nov this year .
Went in to main town last year and it was too busy for me. This place is ideal for a quiet family holiday. Cant wait to return
Only 10 euro in a txi to town if you want to go and free shuttle daily to beach..
My only small complaint is the pool area was not big enough at the time but now they have added another pool.. SO dont think I will find fault this time. (well I hope not). "

"This was my second visit and I have upgraded from a one bedroom to two bedroom apartment. Booked again to go in June 2008 and cannot wait. Absolutely lovely resort with friendly helpful staff, seasons holiday team were brilliant and very entertaining. Had a poolside apartment this time and found it was noisy if windows open but once closed was not an issue.
Bar team struggled a bit but always kept smiling and remained courteous. Going to be there for 25th wedding anniversary so will be extra special this time.
Keep up the good work everyone there, looking forward to seeing you all again."

"When we arrived at the hotel the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
When to Go: Donât go in August if you are after a quiet holiday as it is really very noisy at night, especially if you have a pool view. Bar entertainment usual for this type of holiday and it goes on late. We had a golf course view and it was a lot better than those poor people who were trying to get their kids to bed at night. Lots of kids are left by their parents hanging around the hotel, aged from as young as 5 upwards to teenagers.
They then run around the hotel through the fire escape doors and down the stairs, then do the whole thing over and over again. Complained to hotel about this and the noise they were making. We have been advised that August is very noisy and busy.
Rooms: Very large and very clean. They are cleaned every day, towels changed every other day and beds once/twice a week. We stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment with a sofa bed and a camp bed in the living room for kids. Kids thought the beds were very comfy.
Pool & Pool Bar Area: Pool is very small for such a large hotel. Lots of kids had ear infections so we kept our kids out after they got them also. They are building a new pool at the other side of the hotel supposed to be bigger.
Pool bar service is OK, very slow sometimes in getting you menu and drinks. We arrived down one morning for breakfast and the chef had not turned up.
Other places to eat in the town - Tetiro do Isca - taxi is needed to get to here but not very far away. Need to book also. Expensive but food is good for all the family.
Adega Ticosta - in the town (5min walk from hotel) they do pizza etc very good and reasonable priced.
On the other side from Adega there is a better italian - canât remember the name but is excellent and the price is very good.
Other excellent restaurants in Vilamoura and Albuferia. The restaurants at the marina in Vilamoura are very expensive but the food is good. In the month of August the restaurants here are very busy and you are given a ticket with a number to come back at a certain time. Not good if you have young children and they canât wait too long for their dinner.
Overall a good holiday and would go back again but not in the month of August.

"Alpinus is a fantastic hotel if youâre looking for relaxing family apartments.
The hotel is very clean and comfortable and as I was celebrating my birthday over there was given a lovely surprise by the staff of having a bottle of bubbly sent to our apartment on the day.
Very high standard of apartments compared to other 4 star apartments I have stayed in around Spain!
Entertainment was fantastic (although a little late in the evening) but accommodated our young children superbly, bar staff in the pool bar were at tentative and our drinks were always quickly replenished.
The outside village of Acoteias is low key; however the Elvis impersonator in the Olympus bar livens up Thursday evenings along with the Karaoke at Hollywood bar.
Apart from that the restaurants around the village were all clean, comfortable and very good value for money compared to the prices in resorts such as Vilamoura and Albufeira.
We have come back and have re-booked again for next year (on my birthday again!)
