10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"my wife and I spent a week on half board at this excellent hotel, and we were very impressed with the quality of the room, the cleanliness and the exceptionally friendly staff.
We had a fifth floor room with a wonderful view over the harbour towards Valletta. The bed was king size and very comfortable and the room furniture was to a high standard, with efficient (if rather noisy) air conditioning. Tea and coffee making facilities were provided with daily top-ups.
The rooftop area was well provided with sunloungers and adequate shade. Towels are provided and there is a reasonably sized pool (another is located in the Wellness Centre a floor lower)
Breakfast was buffet style with plenty hot and cold items including fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, fruit juices, cold meats etc, with lovely crusty Maltese bread.
There is an asian restaurant with an extensive menue for the evening meal, but if you do not like this type of food, there is only the choice of the Tabloid restaurant with a very limited menu which has been the same since the beginning of June. Although the food was well presented and of a high quality, the limited choice meant you were obliged to duplicate orders.
This is the only negative aspect to an otherwise excellent hotel"

Adorable hotel in Sliema!
"We had originally booked for the Victoria (the Palace's sister hotel) and on arrival we were told there had been"an accident" in our room, so they were upgrading us to the Palace next door.
What a spot of luck.
I cannot praise this hotel enough and one of the nicest I have ever had the pleasure to stay in. The room was wonderful. Fabulous fixtures and fittings, (a la "Malmaison"), excellent service and the cleanliness second to none. Buffet breakfast was well cooked and delicious with a varied choice of food in delightful surroundings. The staff were fabulously helpful and accommodating. Great location and near to all amenities. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I would book again in an instant!
There should be more hotel like this!"

Satisfied from Maidenhead, England
"We have just spent a fortnight at The Palace and cannot praise it enough.
We found it a truly delightful hotel at which to relax in the luxurious rooms, at the pool deck or in the comfortable lobby and adjoining bar. It is elegant, understated and quiet.
The staff are excellent: exceptionally friendly and helpful.
The choice of restaurants is all that one would want. We particularly liked the rooftop TemptAsian restaurant with its panoramic views of Sliema, Valletta and St. Julian's. The food is beautifully presented Asian fusion. We came away from this restaurant each evening we ate there looking forward to trying another of the mouth-watering dishes the next time.
The Palace is well located for access to buses, the Sliema waterfront with day cruises and the regular evening promenade , the ferry to Valletta, walks around the old city streets and walks further afield to St. Julian's. It should be noted that Sliema is hilly. The streets have varying degrees of steepness which, in our experience, pose little problem for the reasonably fit.
We have been coming to Malta for many years and love Sliema. This was our first stay at The Palace and one we plan to repeat regularly."

Nice hotel - just a little overated more like a 4*
"The reception we had when we arrived at the hotel was very good, and the porter took us up to our room. Because it was our anniversary and my birthday, they upgraded our room to a superior room. This was a nice room, large tv, bathrobes, mini bar (which wasn't very cold). The hotel itself is very modern set in a high street of very old buildings.
My only qualm with the hotel, as we were on half board, the choice of menu, was very limited to say the least. i.e you had a choice of 2/3 starters, main courses and puddings. This menu DOESN'T change daily, therefore if you are at the hotel for more than 3 days, the menu becomes a little boring.
Breakfasts are quite varied, but they need to learn how to cook scrambled egg.
The hotel itself is close by for walks to Sliema town, and walking to St Julians (about 20 mins).
I probably wouldn't go back to that hotel, I looked in the Fortina 5* all inclusive hotel, this seems to gives more choice of restaurants to use, and its seems quite plush, with a lovely 'adult only' pool."

"Great hotel, staff are very polite.
Being a new hotel there are still some things that can be improved, waited 45 mins one time for breakfast as there was a a mix up in the kitchen but were given free drinks so was not so bad, once my food was served half warm and half cold! again they were very apologetic and made me a fresh dish immediately. Talk of the Town/The Tabloid restaurants are good though (this is where we ate).
Had breakfast served in our room for my boyfriendâs birthday and they also arranged for a cake which was amazing, breakfast was quite pricey to have it in your room but it is a 5* hotel and the food was great!!!
Affinity pool on the roof is lovely and big enough to swim some lengths if need be, fresh towels provided for that pool area and the indoor pool. The indoor pool was cool and refreshing with a little terrace outside with very comfortable cushioned sun loungers which you can sit out in the sun on. September is still very hot, and quite humid.
We had a massage in the couples room cost around 93 Euros for one hour, again very good and highly recommended.
Room was so lovely, the beds are far too comforatable with big and smaller pillows, we never wanted to get up especially with the blackout curtains it felt like it was still midnight! It sometimes smelt a bit of drains but they were aware of this problem and had someone looking at the bathroom where the smell was coming from. Big interactive TV where you can view your bill, messages, order films or simply watch TV channels (only a few).
Overall very good hotel, great staff at Reception and the maid was lovely too, came and cleared up our room every day. Free use of the internet and if you need anything you can just give Reception a call and they will be happy to help you, if you need taxis etc or some guidance of where to go they are really useful.
Make sure you visit Paparazzi Restaurant in St Julianâs, the portions are huge especially the desserts!!! Down by the seafront Harbour Cruise with Luzzu Cruises is a good two hour harbour cruise which they also tell you about the history of Malta, and try to haggle a price with them! Buses 62, 64, 66 go to St Julians, for 47cents cheaper than 10-15 euros in a cab! Also can get 645 every half an hour to the beach at Mellieha Bay or 652 to Golden Bay. The hotel has bus timetables so pick one up from Reception. Try and find Mr Maxims in Gzira (opposite Maneol Island), the best little takeaway shop serving pastizzi, timpana and pizzas, very cheap and can sit by the water across the road!
Already looking to go back next year as it is much cheaper the further in advance you book it!"

A true Palace
"My wife and i stayed here along with 10 others for a friends wedding for 10 days and we all agreed that the Palace was an excellent hotel. The decor throughout was outstanding the rooms were excellent i wanted to leave my summer cloths behind and take the pillows home they were so comfortable.
Cleaning service excellent, breakfast top notch. Asian fusion restaurant on the top floor the food was excellent the service was abit slow. The pool was cool in the heat of the day the views outstanding and the pool area never overly packed very comfortable, i would say that the poolside bar and food service was abit hit and miss with orders been forgotten and orders coming out cold on occasion it usually depended on who was working most were pretty efficient but one or two didnt seem to have a clue what they were doing.
A number of the wedding party who were staying at other hotels in Sliema said ours was the best, overall a great place to stay and we will defo be back."

A touch of luxury
"We booked this hotel as a last minute deal on lastminute.com, i certainly don't think that this bargain price will last much longer once the hotel earns the reputation it deserves. Throughout our stay all the staff from front desk, restaurant, cleaning, and bar were friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was beautifully furnished and the bed and pillows extremely soft. All facilities were cleaned to a high standard. With three pools and fantastic views from the roof terrace across to Valetta, this was a lovely, relaxing place to stay. For those who like to be pampered, there is a full range of beauty treatments available or if you need to work off some of that Maltese cooking there is a superbly equipped gym. All in all we have had a wonderful stay in this beautiful country made all the better by finding this gem of a hotel , which gets my top recommendation."

"about visiting this hotel,if you possibly can.this hotel is situated about 200 yards from the arrival/departure point of sliema ferrys, cruises etc.its set in the back streets in a very quiet location, but only a couple of minutes walk to the bus stops.the rooms are spacious, elegant and perfectly maintained.there are plenty of options for breakfast, including full english, cereals, and salad.wine and salmon are also freely available, which is a first for me.the staff are helpful and very friendly, which is always a bonus.the pool isnt the biggest ive ever seen, but theres also an indoor pool, and the one next door at the victoria.overall this a great place for a base,if you want a livelier holiday, just take the bus to st julians, its only a ten minute journey, and the buses run until three am."
