"We stayed in a 1 bed apartment. The apartment was large clean and well equipped. There was no toaster but after requesting one at reception it was delivered before I got back to the room. The staff, especially the receptionist were friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel is a 3* Maltese hotel and like all the other, could do with a little TLC. If you want a budget holiday in Malta I would recommend this hotel. "

The hotel Blue Sea Bugibba
"Okay, some reviews left worried but open minded. We arrived to find our room was not what we paid for - no pool view. Were located to a new room with pool view which was far inferior. Water had been off that day so we had been offered a move to the San Anton but as water came back on just then we decided to stay. Our new room was very basic but ok as a base. Meals ok but not great. If you like fat but no bacon for breakfast you will love it! scrambled egg ok Evening meals fairly tasty but seemed to be re-cycled from the night before. We were led to believe two swimming pools but one has been confined to the care home next door, this was part of the hotel originally but no longer, bricked off now. The sign outside the hotel still boasts a pizzeria but that has been closed a while now. So many people were unhappy with far worse experiences than ours. A very sad situation when you spend hard earned money for your long awaited holiday. The place needs some serious tender loving care but going on what local say, it may not be open much longer. The only jewel in the crown was the lovely Monica who worked in Jack's bar - she was a star."

"Have just returned from malta, my friend and i stayed at the bugibba hotel.on arrival, were allocated a "promo" room, which had no balcony, and only window looked out on to main corridor, cost us 70 euros to update to pool view. no sun all day, room very poorly furnished and equiped, fridge had 3 inches of ice inside, and 3 inches of rust outside. food was pathetic, breakfast not worth getting up for, we ate out, dinner, fine if you like turkey, or chicken curry stew. this is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, so please dont go. only good point was we were only there for a week., many guests had booked for 4 weeks, god forbid."

The worst hotel we have ever stayed in - don't go to it!
"After (mistakenly) booking with Jet line Travel, we were informed that the Bugibba complex was located at Sliema, as shown on the on-line advert. It isn't, it's in Bugibba, so we were angry and disappointed to find ourselves at a resort we had no wish to go to. We were well and truly misled - and hooked! Arriving at the hotel we were confronted by a hostile and unfriendly reception staff, which did little to alleviate what was an already rotten experience, particularly as we were on our honeymoon. Then came the room which we can only describe as a pit. It was dirty, mattresses hard, torn and shabby, tiles cracked and badly repaired in the bathroom, towels a nasty shade of grey through over-boiling, we imagine, when they were supposed to be white. The bathroom door had to be pushed hard to close because it stuck to the sticky tiles. Toilet paper was used to plug a gap in the length of wood separating cracked wall tile from wall. We had no choice but to put up with it after making a complaint and asking for another room only to be told the hotel was fully-booked, which was a blatant lie as a guest a few days later succeeded in finding one when she asked to change. So, when evening came and endeavoring to make the best of a truly bad situation, we made our way to the restaurant to find some comfort in a good meal. What a joke that was. The food was absolutely atrocious and almost inedible. Soup like dishwater and the same old salad and tired, comatose vegetables shoved unceremoniously on a dish to accompnay over-cooked meats, or a what was generously described as fish. When I asked what fish it was, the cook - because I won't call him a chef - had no idea. "Something found swimming in the Med?" I offered, a question to which he agreed. To wash down the "food" we ordered a drink but were surprised to find that round the base of the bar was a collection of soaking wet bath towels. "For the leak," was the indifferent reply and shrug of the shoulders I received when commenting on them and their obvious health hazard, as if all bars leaked. Such indifference summed up our stay at the Bugibba complex. No one cares! You are not treated with respect, nor are you addressed as human beings. If you can understand the often East European accents of the Reception staff you will be told in no uncertain terms that politeness is not part of their training. We couldn't bare another night and booked into another hotel that deserved its stars, despite having paid for a stay at the Bugibba. To sum up, we can only advise potential holidaymakers not to go to the Bugibba as we won't get recompensed, that's for sure. We've learn our lesson the hard way !!!!!!!!!!!"

the bugibba hotel - cockroach haven
"Just returned from a holiday stayed in the Bugibba hotel. well it was interesting I will give it that , the reception was undermanned and almost impossible to get your key back sometimes after handing it in , they also lost our key for over 24 hours which was a bit of a security concern for me and the girlfriend , our bedding was clean , room was generally clean , some of the furnishings were a bit old and worn but the main section was livable , the air con was really noisy when we turned it on . but the bathroom was horrible, i was scared to go in there sometimes as there was some massive cockroaches around and they just appeared randomly , think in the entire holiday i had caught about 15 of them and flushed them down the loo should have probably taken some pictures of them but never mind. didn't eat there at all as was self catering. had no issues with NY students or anyone but at the end of the day the price we paid i suppose it wasn't too bad but the bathroom and our key going missing from the reception was horrible this is why i cant give it a totally amazing review"

Lovey island and people would go back but not at Bugibba Hotel.
"Bugibba Hotel Complex - Just come home after week in this hotel. Studio S/C booked for three. Allocated 1 twinbedded room for daughter + son-in- law, extra bed pushed in for me, mother-in-law. Not ideal situation. Complained naturally not what booked. told no S/c available, so asked for extra room, told nothing now perhaps Monday.but we would be upgraded to half board.spent rest of holiday all sleeping in one room. No rooms available. Towels clean but grey.(old) Staff coped under trying situations. Whole place needs lots of TLC. Lifts only worked now and then. Told by other guests that this ungrading happens frequently. Bit of copt out as food needs lots to be desired.V.same/boring."

Don't Stay Here!
"We stayed here many years ago and thought we would give it another go. Got to say what a mistake! The balcony door wouldn't lock but was classed as a lower priority than an all inclusive customer who's DVD wouldn't work! The filth in the air conditioning unit showed up lovely when you turned the hall light on! We were self catering and in the unmodernised part of the hotel so we were pretty much forgotten. The prices were a rip off - 10 euro deposit and a euro a day for a kettle! 6 euros for breakfast when everywhere else charges 3.95, 7 euros for 2 vodka and cokes when everywhere else was 4! The out door and indoor pool had dried concrete around the edge and one little girl actually cut her feet on it! Signs in the indoor pool told you to ring an extension or go to the gym in case of an emergency, only problem was no phone and no instructions as to where the gym was! I could go on, but I would like to say I have stayed in bugibba and qwara many times in cheaper and better accommodation! Shop around and keep away from this accommodation!"

WILL NOT RETURN
"I stayed at this hotel over the years and found it a top clean peaceful friendly hotel but returning this month after 5 years absent I was very disappointed indeed. Dirty smelly pillows and youth,s splashing in the pool at 3am screaming and singing and I did not get any sleep for 7 night.Noise and laughter at 4am along the corridors and adjoining rooms , air conditioning not on at all because of cut backs and the heat at 110 degrees the room was absolutely unbearable to be in.On checking out and waiting for our taxi in the lounge we saw many families complaining over many issues with the hotel.On opening our kitchen window adjoining a brick wall and a 20 ft drop we saw suit cases and socks/underwear scattered hanging from pipes ect. the room was clean on a self catering basis but the pillows where badly stained and smelly. It is a shame to say I will not return there again....get your act together and clean up. "

"I have stayed here with my family in July/August 2011. After reading many bad reviews, we were very dubious, but were infact surprised by the hotel and staff and Malta people in general. The hotel is maybe bit tired, but clean enough with friendly staff through. They were all very nice to our 2 small children and helpful with all our questions. There is a International language school based at this hotel, but that has not been a problem either. This hotel definetly does not deserve all the bad reviews. If you want a 5 star treatment - you have to pay for it and book at Raddison etc. Would come again, at the end of the day, your holiday is what you make of it."

The Buggiba Hotel (THB) Tired, Broken, Horrible!
"Absolutely awful!! We specifically requested that the holiday be in a location where (having no children of our own) there would be most likely minimal children / minors taking into account the time of year we were obviously expecting some! However, We arrived at the hotel to find that it was infact a language school, and absolutely full of "children" ranging from 11 - 17 years old. Throwing things off balconies at cars passing in the street (someone knocked off a moped - local residents refusing to park near the area due to damage being done), spitting onto people and balconies (with hanging drying clothes etc) below. Constant screaming, shouting, vandalism of the hotel, theft of peoples personal items a daily occurence, having stood at reception and listened the the number of different people complaining. Hotel Staff were useless and rude, and so were the language school staff. Changed rooms twice because of the noise from the students, the bar, and also because the room was infested with ants and cockroaches!! The hotel does not own any double bed linen - Double beds were made up using a patch-work of single dirty sheets, pillows made of small pieces of sponge chips - lumpy, smelly and extremely uncomfortable. Had to constantly ask for replacement towlels and loo-roll by walking from the 6th floor because the hotel lifts were constantly out of order, and asking the Reception staff to provide basic essentials. Showers did not work - days of complaining and having to wash using a bowl from the sink and a jug whilst sitting in the bath. Filthy rooms, floors or anywhere never cleaned, smears of dirt and the contents of peoples noses wiped up the walls. Broken furniture in the rooms, Wardrobes with the covering veneer hanging off showing the MDF below, and throughout the hotel. Stayed on a half board basis and forced to eat out of the hotel for 90% of the stay due to general poor standard of the hotel and the food offered (for example, daily salads left out all day un-covered from breakfast, being offered for evening dinner - Flies everywhere!). A small area was set aside for hotel guests (not students) tables were rarely cleared, cutlery and coffee cups never properly cleaned and had other peoples lip-stick still left on them. Including the lifts being useless, Vending machines for drinks were always out of order, so too were the hotel lobby toilets. The whole hotel was and is purely disgusting. DO NOT GO THERE"

Beware this hotel will ruin your holiday
"We arrived at this hotel at 10 oâclock at night on the 1st of October 2010 and joined a queue where one holiday maker was far from happy, and we were soon to find ourselves joining the ever growing number of people who did not get what they paid for. Our turn, and sure enough they did not have the one bedroom apartment we booked, instead they offered us a standard hotel room. Although we were far from happy we accepted to get some sleep, however when we reached the room we found it to be already occupied. Back at reception they offered us another room, appalling filthy room, did not accept, finally we accepted under protest a room at midnight, the room had no shower, window, TV etc. We were promised a room the next morning and when we got to the reception no room was available, for us or the numerous number of others demanding the rooms they had paid and waited days for for, we were told to come back at 12 oâclock. Once again no room just a lobby full of holiday makers being told they were being sent to another hotel most of which were many miles away. We asked to be move and two or three hours later we were given a studio (not a one bedroom) apartment 5 mile out of town, since we had a hire car it suited us. Where was the management, none on duty, reception staff left to take the anger and lie to the guests. I am astounded that no other guests have posted their discontent, and yes the rowdy students are still there, on the night we arrived they were throwing beer bottles off the top floor. "
