A great find
"My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend in Venice, booked at a great price via lastminute.com. In common with many smaller hotels, it did not have a restaurant, but with hundreds on your doorstep, you can understand why. It is a 7 - 10 minute stroll to St marks square and the hotel has just been refurbished and is in lovely condition. We were in room 102 (a corner room) and the views were superb (see photos), San Giorgio out of 2 windows, St Marks out of the other 2, lots of natural light. Room was not huge, but it was comfortable, clean (see photos). Buffet breakfast was very nice and the best part was the staff.... so friendly and helpful. We met the owner on our last day (also a very friendly guy) as we were waiting to leave. 2 years spent doing up this hotel. I would advise anyone that wants to be near the centre but not right in amongst the tourists to go here, you won't be dissapointed"

Wonderful, relaxing hotel with views to die for!
"We have just returned from a 4 night stay at the Bucintoro and like some previous reviewers, were a little sceptical due to the lack of reviews on Trip Advisor. However this is only because the hotel is relatively new and we are so glad that we decided to go ahead and book because WOW, this hotel totally exceeded our expectations! We booked into a corner suite (room 204), a beautifully appointed, spotlessly clean and comfortable room styled in the elegant nautical theme that runs throughout the hotel. However the really spectacular feature of this room is the 4 large windows that look out on 2 aspects with magnificent views over the city and lagoon. Opening the windows and letting the sea breeze and sounds of the lagoon wash over you whilst enjoying the views is an experience not to be missed, especially at sunset! We found the hotel staff to be very friendly, helpful and efficient. Taking breakfast on the terrace at the front of the hotel is a delight, the breakfast selection and quality is excellent and the views again are exceptional. The hotel is located next to the lagoon in Castello, a quieter and largely residential area in the East of the city. This is a real asset for those wishing to escape the maddening tourist crowds and stifling heat (particularly in summer) that can be an unpleasant aspect of any trip to Venice. In any case the vaparetto stop at Arsenale is only 150m away and it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to St Marco Square along the front, the hotel is definitely well located for convenient access throughout Venice and connection to the airport. In addition an excellent selection of local bars and restaurants are close by (particularly along Via Guiseppe Garibaldi) for those seeking a more authentic and ârealâ Venetian experience. We would highly recommend this hotel for those seeking a relaxing and luxurious retreat with stunning views over the lagoon and Venice itself. Indeed we cannot wait to go back ourselves to stay in this wonderful little hotel located in a truly enchanting city!"

The BEST Room in Venice!
"The Penthouse suite at Hotel Bucintoro is without a doubt one of the BEST available rooms in Venice! Located right on the waterfront, the hotel is about about 3 walking bridges from San Marco. My husband and I, who for the most part stay at 5 star hotels in the USA were completely awe-stricken by this hotel. The highlights: Incredibly friendly and professional staff (the manager, Michael, was really great); brand new construction (only a few weeks old by the time we got there), really nice baths with rain shower and marble baths, two flat screen TVs, a separate living room area with sofa, waterfront view from the bedroom, perfect location (a 5 minute walk to San Marco....close enough to enjoy the highlights, but far enough just past all the street vendors to enjoy the tranquility of this beautiful city), but to top it all off, the best part had to be the private balcony which offers an amazing 360 degree view of the city, including a complete view of the waterfront extending from San Marco out to the individual islands. The balcony is equipped with patio furniture and retractable sun shades to ensure some nice R & R in the midst of a busy trip. The nights are beautiful, with the lights reflecting on the water... I fell asleep out in the open air more than once. All in all, I have a hard time imagining a better venue to enjoy one of my favorite cities in the world."

better than the website
"after reading the trip advisor reviews i was sceptical, but i was seduced by the pictures on the website, and being newly renovated i thought i would take a chance - very good decision. its a perfect boutique hotel offering a 5 star experience - from the incredible view, quiet location, very friendly staff, great breakfast and attention to every tiny detail... bathrobes, slippers, a writing desk with printed stationary and a huge shower + bath! this was heaven after 30hours travelling from australia. i woke up in my cosy bed to birds singing and water lapping on boats, far from the circus of tourists that is st.marks square in summer, but so close to walk there when you want. you really feel like you are staying in a restored old luxury yacht thats moored on the grand canal with the best view of venice you could ask for, and a team of crew to attend your every request. stay here while you can still get a room! i challenge you to find a better boutique hotel in venice, or anywhere for that matter."

"I totally agree with the last review by weekender52. We were hesitant about staying here because there were no recent reviews for it on tripadvisor and thought the hotel website might be too good to be true! But it wasn't! The rooms and hotel are exactly as pictured! I couldn't fault our stay here at all. The rooms were spacious, decorated to a very high standard, luxurious and very comfortable. I was surprised that our standard room was so nice. The turndown service at night was beyond what we expected- our room was cleaned up again and fresh towels and toiletries were left in the bathroom, though they had already been changed that morning too. The bathrobes and slippers were so comfy after walking around Venice all day and it was heavenly to sink into the bath! There was a great spread for breakfast with loads of fresh fruit, none of the canned stuff! They also recommended a lovely (inexpensive) restaurant to dine in and the staff were always friendly and willing to help. The hotel is in a perfect location- close enough to the hustle and bustle of Mark's Square, yet quiet enough that you'd get a great nights sleep. The facilities, decor and service definitely made it feel like a 5 star hotel and like the last reviewer said, it's a pity we can't keep this gem of a hotel to ourselves!"

"I have to say that this a great hotel. This hotel was recently renovated and it looks great. The rooms have wooden floors and the bathrooms are great. Every room has a great view. The service and staff is excellent. Everyone was always very helpful, they made reservations at restaurants for us and they booked us water taxis. The breakfast the hotel served was delicious. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone that goes to Venice."

A Secret Gem On the Grand Canal
"I could be tempted to keep this boutique hotel a secret just for myself, but word will get out soon! It is quite possibly the best small hotel In Venice. With views that some 5 star hotels would die for and service that matches. Staff are helpful, discreet and unintrusive. Our beds were turned down each night and the breakfast staff were the most friendly and welcoming. The hotel interior is styled on the theme of a luxury yacht, rooms are compact but having said this, the space is used to maximum effect with teak panelling, brass fittings and fine furnishings of the highest quality .The bathrooms which are not at all cramped, are built of marble and finished in meticulous detail with beautiful chromed fittings. Fluffy bath robes and high quality toiletries are standard. I would advise anyone to check their website, what you see is what you get . No deceptive pictures, no flowery over exagerations, which tells you an awful lot about the way this hotel works. We had room 201 which looks straight down the Grand Canal. The hotel is nicely positioned away from the main area but San Marco is only about 10 minute walk away. I could highly recommend this hotel to anyone, but leave a room for us, we will return! Hotel Bucintoro - Wonderful place to stay.
"Great place to stay. Newly renovated with beautiful marble and onyx touches. Service was first rate: friendly, accomodating in every way, and professional. Location is on the grand canal and waterfront rooms are quiet. I plan to stay at this hotel again."

Awesome Hotel, newly renovated!
"This hotel is brand new, and a wonderful experience. The rooms were decorated like the inside of a yacht. We went with another family, and had an entire floor to ourselves. Our bathroom was done from floor to ceiling in Onyx, the others on our floor were red marble, and green marble. Our room overlooked both the Canal, and the bridges. Breakfast was a full meal, with eggs to order, with many other options to choose from. The staff was there to answer any question you may have and took care of getting us taxis, and reservations any where we wanted to go. I have stayed at several of the five star hotels in Venice, the Metropole, the Londra Palace and this is by far, the new jem. It is a little further away from the main taxi area, but with that you loose all the noise, it was very peaceful in the area. A great place to stay!"
