very pleasant stay
"recently stayed at the hotel bisanzio. very pleasant stay, nice location, we enjoyed walking down the little canal streets nearby and walking out to the docks in the am. nice breakfast in the am. helpful people.
pleasant room, a/c not real strong, close shutters when you leave during the day, it helps. comfortable place, thin walls, heard flutist for over an hour practicing while trying to rest one day, was a professional musician so that made up for the annoyance. : )
would definately recommend this hotel."

Good location, spacious room
"We stayed in mid-Aug 04 & they accomodated the whole family (2 adults & 2 children) in a fairly spacious quad room. The main complaint was the A/C running flat out could not keep room below 80 deg F. As with another reviewer, highly recommend taking water taxi if you have luggage. There are 2 Venetian bridges to climb from the San Zaccaria stop to the hotel. Location is excellent, walk to St Marks square, restaurants, self-service laundry on Ruga Giuffa."

Good location but NOT A GOOD CHOICE
"Good location but much better hotels nearby. The rooms were all small with little furniture to rest bags on.
The other guests were also discouraged by the size & facilities in their rooms. We paid extra for terrace but it was not ready first 2 night of 4 night stay. When we moved, the view was LOUSY - not like the picture AT ALL and walls were paper thin. Air conditioner DID NOT work well enought in either room to keep 2 adults comfortable. Location is nice but stay at another hotel in area!"

a pleasant stop.....
"We arrived in Venice by train and took the #52 water bus near San Marco. The Hotel was conveniently located and easy to find. We had booked the suite as there were 4 of us (my husband, myself and 2 teenage daughters). The suite was clean and comfortable however the a/c and bunkbeds were not up to par. The bunkbeds would be fine for small children, but I would not recommend for older children. The a/c was very weak (we were there the beginning of Aug) and was somewhat uncomfortable at night. My suggestion would be to stay away from the suite and stick to single rooms in the Hotel.
The breakfast consisted of cereals, juice, coffee, assorted meats and cheese, and rolls & crossants. Just enough to get you started. The rooms and suites are spotless, the bathrooms small but clean and sufficent.
Overall, I would stay there again. The staff was friendly, accommodating and efficient. The Hotel Bisanzio was a pleasant stop on our trip through Italy."

Amazingly teeny room
"Because I was a single, in for 5 days (attending a meeting) I got an amazingly tiny room the size of a double bed - no room for TV - it was hanging from the ceiling. Smaller than Manhatten rooms! View = wall. I was told they were all the same, but the fire map showed clearly that the rooms right at the top of the stairs were 1/2 the size of others. On the plus side, I wasn't tempted to lounge around my room in the nice a/c instead of getting out touring in 90degree June heat. Room was spartan, cool & spotless, bkfast fine, staff friendly (except lying about my room size). Location encouraged walking around Castello, which is lovely and uncrowded, but close enough to S.Marco."

Venice in April
"We arrived in Venice by train and took the #1 thru the Grand Canal to the Hotel Bisanzio. It was only 11AM when we arrived so our room wasn't ready. The staff recommended a wonderful little place for lunch right around the corner where we had a wonderful meal. In the lobby of the hotel we saw a flyer for a Vivaldi concert being held the next evening in a church very close by to the hotel. The staff was able to get us tickets for the concert and we enjoyed it immensely -- it was an unplanned bonus.
Overall, the staff was knowledgable and pleasant. At any time while we were staying at the Hotel Bisanzio, there was always someone at the desk who was thoroughly fluent in English. We tried to speak Italian as much as possible and they were appreciative of our attempts.
The location of the hotel is great -- close to many of the must-sees of Venice and it wasn't too difficult to find one's way back to the hotel.
The one problem we had while in Venice (and this is no reflection on the Hotel Bizansio), -- mosquitos. With all the water, there were mosquitos even while it was early April and still quite chilly outside. Next time I go to Venice, I will bring mosquito repellent."

Molto bene........... enjoy your stay in Venice, book this hotel
"This was our first trip to Venice. When we arrived at night on the vaporetto from the airport, we had our map ready and found the hotel almost immediately. It's about 2 blocks from the boat launch and so close to the Bridge of Sighs. This is a great location. When you are tired and bedraggled you can find your way back to the hotel without getting lost.
The breakfast room was cosy and breakfast more than adequate, the rooms were extremely clean and Marco was very helpful in guiding us to the 'other Venice' off the beaten track.
We try to make a point of going to different hotels but in this instance, we plan to go back. It is everything we expect of a good hotel, cleanliness is paramount, the rooms weren't large but certainly large enough with a nice bathroom and shower enclosure.
Enjoy the faded splendour of Venice and if you happen to book this hotel, I am sure you will return. Why pay double the price for a 4 star hotel when you can instead have this little gem?"

Nice Little Hotel
"First off, I hate Air France their stupid bus driver made us miss our flight to Venice and then they made us purchase entirely new tickets to get there. So we missed a whole day and arrived at the Bisanzio at 10pm instead of 2pm. That said, the hotel is REALLY easy to find. You can take the Alilaguna boat from Marco Polo airport and will arrive within the hour at either Arsenale or San Zaccharia. We stopped at San Zaccharia because that boat left earlier than the other. From there we went right over a bridge and made a left right after the Peita Cathedral on Riva delle Schiavoni. It's in Calle della Pieta at the end of the alley. Bad news for Venice... it's STILL experiencing Aqua Alta in May!!! You'll have to walk on tables twice a day from 11 - 2 (both midnight and noon). The hotel was beautiful and clean. Nice bathroom with good water pressure. We stayed in room 108, which is right off the breakfast room. The air conditioner wasn't working too well so it was a little humid in the room but still comfortable enough not to put it on. Breakfast was quite good (cereals, croissants, yogurt, ham, cheese, etc) and included with the meal. The hotel desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. One scary experience was when we returned from dinner that first night (11:15 pm) and the glass doors to the hotel were locked and no one was at the front desk. But we found the buzzer on the right and rang. Two other people showed up behind us and the four of us waited there for the desk clerk to appear. I think we woke him! At any rate, we only waited a few minutes so it wasn't an inconvience, just a little scary when you're thinking you are locked out of your hotel. Venice is beautiful. We even did the Murano/Burano/Torcello tour. Burano is beautiful... Murano was okay (Vecchia Murano showroom behind St. Mark's is actually more extensive than the one we saw - I had seen that last year while on a tour). At any rate, beautiful hotel. Great location (we saw MANY lost tourists trying to find their hotels in the narrow maze of streets deeper into the city). Highly recommend!"

family visit to venice
"We just came back from Venice. I must say that finding a hotel that would accomodate two adults and two children was difficult. However the hotel Bisanzio accomodated us in a suite. Upon arrival we found it was a small cabin like room. Upstairs loft with double bed and private bath for the adults and downstairs two pull out bunk beds for my children.
We still had a sofa and coffee table to enjoy the TV. The downstairs also had a private bath and Shower. It could not have been greater! We could not have asked for more! Location, Service and Price !!!!!! Next time we will take a private water taxi to the hotel. The extra hour on the local ferry was not a highlight, specially after the overnight flight. Enjoy your trip to Venice!!!!"

"We recently stayed at this hotel (during Carnevale 2004) for two nights. Our room was spacious and spotless (I always check underneath the beds to check for cleanliness). I loved the towel warmer in the bathroom. Breakfast was not hot, but it was very good, cold cuts, breads, toast, jellies, juice, fruits, yogurt, ..etc., the coffee was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to Piazza San Marco and to the water vessels, yet it is tucked away from the noise and crowds. I would definitely recommend this hotel and if we ever go back we plan to stay here again."
