10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Our satay was lovely at this hotel; rooms are clean, staff very knowledgeable and helpful. The hotel has a good location, very easy access to the bus which takes right to the heart of Venice. Excellent breakfast offered every day. Nice restaurant, tasty food, good service and excellent hostess. we would go back the next time!!!"

Nice new clean hotel, but construction on highway
"As others have mentioned, this is a very nice new hotel that has very attractive clean rooms and free wifi. It was right on the bus line to Venice, one of the closest hotels on the mainland to the island area of Venice. Rates are quite reasonable for the area, about 50% or less than what you would pay for the same accommodations in Venice itself. My only complaint was that the hotel seemed to be the nicest and newest construction in the immediate area. The highway out front seemed to have alot of traffic during the day and quite a bit of construction. Do not, however, let this deter you from this hotel. The service by those checking me in and out was very good, and all spoke English well. The breakfast was above average at 11 Euros. The bus right out front will drop you at the doorsteps of Venice and you can buy 24 hour, 36 hour and 48 hour passes on the buses and water buses from the hotel. Funny thing is, it seemed that only the tourists were actually paying the fares on the buses as the locals just got on and ignored "validating". Must just be an Italian thing?? Overall, very nice hotel and quite reasonable. If you can get for 120 Euro or less for a night, its a good value. Finally, they offer free parking here."

The best offer in Venice
"Booked a room with a friend of mine just for 120 EUR. - Location. Perfect: 5 kilometers from Venice. There are two bus lines (5 and 19) that go to Venice each 10-15 minutes and it took us 10 minutes to get to the the bus station in Venice. That's a great opportunity, because it's very expensive to park your car in Venice. - Staff. Very pleasant people at the reception, have good English. - Room. Rather clean and modern, very spacious for its price. New and comfortable furniture. - Bathroom. Rather small, but convenient. Has a bathtub. - Breakfast. A nice buffet breakfast overall, but has a terrible choice of juices (tastes like chemicals) and awful coffee. Bonuses: Free Wi-Fi (good quality) and 2 free bottles of water (1 still, 1 sparkling), free parking (openair and underground), good fitness room and business centre. Swimming pool outside (opened during the summertime)."

Lovely new hotel - service standard is a work in progress
"We chose the Garden Inn, Mestre, as our base for a two-night visit to Venice because we were in the middle of a month-long driving holiday and needed a facility with free parking and easy access to the island. The hotel itself was brand new, with beautifully decorated, large, comfortable rooms, an excellent restaurant, room service meals, very good breakfast, free Wifi, guest laundry etc, BUT, service standard is a work in progress. On check-in, we were assisted by an exceptionally helpful and friendly young lady who spoke very good English and helped us with bus transport to the island. However, we found that she was in fact the exception when it came to staff. On the first night, a storm caused the boiler to malfunction and by 7pm there was no hot water for a shower. A series of polite enquiries by phone to the front desk were met with varying levels of indifference and rudeness from staff who either couldn't or wouldn't understand our problem, and at around 10pm we were told abruptly that nothing could be done and we would "just have to be patient". No apology, no empathy. In the morning, I spoke to the same young lady who had checked us in, and during breakfast she came to our table to personally tell us that she had spoken to the Manager who had offered us free breakfasts for two on both mornings of our stay (a saving of 40 Euros) as a token of compensation for the inconvenience. When we arrived back at the hotel on the second evening, our room had been serviced and a handwritten note from the manager, along with a packet of Venetian biscuits, had been left on the desk. What a lovely gesture! Therefore, I can't be overly critical of the service. The No 5 bus stops right outside the hotel, and it is two stops to the island for 1.20 Euro. Convenient, and cheap. The hotel had a gym, and an enormous swimming pool."

Conveient Location - great for business travellers
"This is a brand-new hotel, opened Oct 2010. It is modern, chic, with every convenience. Note that the airport shuttle service is NOT free -- but at 10Euros, it is quite reasonable. It is convenient to the airport and is set up to be efficient for business travellers as well as for those who want to go to the historic downtown area. The lobby has nice little "niches" by the fireplace, or a separate area for watchingTV and another if you wanted to have a couple of colleagues together for discussions. It has a bar....didn't try the restaurant, so can't say how the food is."

130 Euro/nt & Includes a 24 Hour Transfer Pass to/from Venice
"Arrived at the Venice Marco Polo airport and took at taxi to the Hilton Garden Inn. Cost about 22 Euros. Arrived at a hotel that is beautiful inside - completely new. Check in was pleasant and I was handed my 24 hour bus pass. City bus #5 and #19 passes right in front of the hotel and takes you on a short drive (10 mins) onto Venice island. The pass also got me on to the waterbus throughout Venice (hop on/hop off). The rooms at the hotel are beautiful. Room 113 overlooks the large swimming pool in the courtyard. The room has a real king bed (not like most other hotels in Europe). This hotel also has what they call the Garden Sleep System fully adjustable beds. So comfortable! Hotel also has a separate bar and restaurant. Mini-mart for snacks and sodas. Enjoyed a great day in Venice. Would be great to have this hotel actually IN Venice, but hotels in Venice are smaller, older, family run hotels. I think there is a Hilton on the island of Molino, but looked a bit difficult to get to. Staying at the HIlton Garden Inn kept me from having to take my luggage on the waterbus or watertaxi. And being able to take the bus from the front door right into Venice is a real treat. Highly recommend this hotel. Great price. Good location for being 'outside' of Venice (not on the island), but the hotel is located on the mainland side of the bridge that takes you to Venice. About as close as you can get without paying the higher price of being 'in' Venice."

Superb choice for functional Venice stay
"This is not a hotel for honeymooners wanting the Venice "experience" but it is a luxury hotel at a near budget price that caters to businessmen and leisure travellers. Its location just can't be beat, on the airport side of the causeway linking Venice with the mainland. There are a multitude of bus routes that stop right outside the hotel. The 5 is the most frequent, the stopping service between Piazzale Roma in the heart of Venice and the airport. Also the 19 will take you into town. There's also a direct bus to/from Mestre train station. The cost of the bus ticket is euro 1.20 and usually the bus makes no further stops until you are in Venice. The taxi from the airport is approx. 25 euros, if you don't want to struggle with luggage and unfamiliar surroundings the first time. The hotel offers a shuttle service for 10 euros per room but they failed to meet me, as well! The hotel had its soft opening 1 October 2010, so disregard any reviews prior to then as they reflect a different property altogether. The formal opening was 28 October 2010 and, sadly, the hotel kitchen is still woeful by Italian standards. A pity, as the prices are reasonable. The good news is that this hotel does not nickel and dime its customers. State of the art fitness center - free. Guest laundry, free detergent, 1 euro to wash, 3 euro to dry. Free coffee/tea/chocolate dispenser positioned in lobby in early hours. Free cookies in afternoon, Free bar snacks. Free business center, free wifi. 32" LG LCD TV's with cable. Free parking! For summertime visitors, great pool area."

Outstanding Hilton Garden Inn
"OK--so it is new--having been opened only a short time, thus me review comments aqre always subject to change. This hotel is the cleanest I have have stayed in worldwide. The place is spotless. The counter desk is most courteous and helpful. You cannot ask for a better group. The restaurant staff is also excellant. The room (ours on the 6th floor) was spotless. Everything worked including the free internet which was among the fastest we have expierenced. The outside of the hotel is ultra modern with lots of great touches. Free coffee in the lobby in the mornings. Free breakfast if you are a Hilton Club member. Parking is 10 euro a night. The only negative item we encountered was the shuttle which never picked us up at the airport even though we called three times and was assured each time he was on his way or alreadfy at the airport. The Hilton web site needs to be changed as this is not a free service. The shuttled must be booked beforehand and there is a 10 euro charge each way.The breakfast is outstanding by any standards with lots of hot or cold food available.Free newspaper however in Italian. The bathroom was very nice. We ask for the shower only room. There is a safe and refrigerator in the room. Lighting is second to none.Located about 10 minutes from the airport in an area where there is not much else in the area.PS--the beds are a new system that is great."

Great affordable hotel if you have a car.
"This was called the Hilton Garden Inn-Mestre, not Capitol Palace. Right on the main road across from the bus to Venice. A 10 minute/2.5 EUR ride to Venice. We had the suite which had a separate room with pullout couch. Minibar, 2 flat screens, nice bathroom. Breakfast was ample and tasty. The staff recommended two great restaurants for dinner. I'm not sure how convenient this hotel would be without a car. Close to airport/15 minutes."
