23 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Hotel is situated at the far end of the 'resort'. Access to the local town Peschiera, is either by taxi or the hotel's free shuttle bus service. The shuttle bus runs 09:00 to 12:00, then 15:00 to 18:00 and finally 21:00 to 23:00, departing the hotel on the hour. On arrival in Peschiera, via the shuttle bus, it will be approximately a 50 minute wait, before a local bus will take you on to Verona or Desenzano. The shuttle bus will also drop you off at the rail station, by request, again there is a long wait before the local bus arrives. If the shuttle bus were to leave on the half hour, a better coordination with local bus services would achieved. The walk into Peschiera will take 25 to 30 minutes and beware, it is necessary to walk alongside busy roads, the footpath being non existent. We booked a tour through our rep, the tour bus company acting on behalf of our travel company, declined to send the tour bus to the hotel reception in order to pick us up, instead they waited for us at the resort's main entrance, about a mile away from the hotel. Because the holiday rep had told us to wait at the hotel reception, we missed the tour! If you do manage to arrange a tour using the local tour bus companies, be aware, that even for those on a fully inclusive basis, you will not be provided with a packed lunch. The manager on duty informed us that unless we were customers of one particular company, the hotel's policy was to provide no packed lunch. This of course meant that for all customers on a fully inclusive basis, some were more equal than others! Despite this rather reluctant manager, the rest of the hotel staff were welcoming and extremely helpful. The room was clean, the linen changed each day and we had a lovely view, overlooking the pool and golf course. The entertainments team worked very hard to ensure that holidaymakers were involved in the evening's entertainment, which ensured that a good night was had by all. Meals are self service, for those on an all inclusive basis, red wristbands are provided, this ensures access to the main restaurant and service at the Piano Bar, where you can get a range of locally sourced drinks. A key is given, one per room, allowing the drinks machines to be activated. Drinks such as wine, Cola, coffee etc can be obtained from the machines. If you don't like drinking your beer, cola, wine from a plastic beaker, don't hesitate, go to the Piano Bar and ask for a glass! During our stay, the buses were usually 10 to 15 minutes late. There are two local bus companies, one based in Verona, APTV, the other based in Brescia SAIA. Bus stops are not well signed and it may be necessary to seek local advice in order to ascertain whether a certain service runs from the stop you are standing at! A couple of travel tips: When purchasing boat tickets, remember that there are discounts for those who are of a certain age and in possession of a passport, or a Senior Citizens UK bus pass. Finally, get your bus tickets from the tobacconist prior to travelling, otherwise purchase them on the bus for an additional charge. "

"We have had a great week at the spotlessly clean HotelParc Paradiso. Spacious comfy clean bedroom, super food, helpful staff - in fact we can find no fault at all. The shuttle bus goes (on time) every hour and drops us off right beside the boats and the stop for all the buses to various places. We did not use the pools at all, but they looked beautiful & clean. Beautiful grounds to wander around. First class. Thank you."

Really Good Hotel
"The Parc Paradisco Hotel is a new hotel set in the middle of a golf course. All the facilities are excellent and clean including the bedrooms and indoor pool. The restaurant is buffet style and the food is excellent both in quality and quantity. We would recommend this hotel, however note, that as a newish hotel it has no Italian character - you could be anywhere in the world, it is situated in the middle of a golf course so no where much of interest to walk and the food whilst excellent is universal in its appeal and therefore not traditional Italian. As the hotel is several miles from the town and the walk is not easy the free shuttle coach is essential. This runs hourly and is a full size coach so there was never any problem. Th hotel caters for a wide range of guests, including business conferences so be prepared to see business people around the hotel and in the restaurant. The location on the southern end of Lake Garda is great. It enables trips to Verona, Venice and of course around the lake itself. If you stay further up Lake Garda, many of the towns are quite isolated so its difficult to travel far from base. All in all a good hotel, Pershiera is a nice town to walk around. Thank you Inghams for a nice package."

felt like a bother to some staff!!
"Just returned from 10 nights at this hotel. The room was big but the air conditioning was inappropriate and at time did not work. Facilities ok. Nice golf course and gym. Good shuttle service to town centre. BUT unfortunately our memories are negative. Some members of staff, including a manger, were extremely unhelpful and very rude. In fact one or two were amongst the rudest hotel staff we have ever encountered (and we travel frequently). Some did not seem to want to rectify any issues at all or be in any way pleasant when assisting. The food was ok but boring after 3 days. Very very busy and noisy at this time of year and although we had our children with us who are 10 and 12, I would not recoomend this hotel if you don't like LOTS of children around you day and night. Whilst we had a nice stay in the area, this hotel is not one I could recommend."

Fantastic holiday-definitely would return
"Booked a great deal with Travelzoo/Inghams to Parc Hotel. On arrival at airport, told we had been upgraded to the Golf Hotel (in the same grounds). Very impressed on arrival at the Golf Hotel On check in, apologetic receptionist said room would be ready in half an hour-we had been given a suite with a terrace!!! So a great start to the holiday and the rest of the week was the same. Lovel meals at the restaurant. overlooking the golf course, sat out on the terrace. No waits fo tables for either breakfast or evening meals. Drinks were cheaper than Cardiff prices! Especially in happy hour. The shuttle bus was very good-a large coach-only once bus was full but it came back for us. Took about 5-10 mins into Peschiera. We booked 2 trips with Inghams-one was a Lake trip which was very good and a trip to Venice which was fantastic. All in all, no complaints, fantastic holiday and would definitely return there."

"My boyfriend and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Parc Paradiso Hotel in Peschiera, Italy. We booked last minute through Thomas Cook and so weren't sure what to expect once we got there but were both pleasantly surprised. The hotel was lovely, our room was kept very clean, was spacious (with a good sized double bed) and a nice sun terrace. We stayed half-board but still had tea and coffee facilities in the room and a mini bar (with complimentary fizz). Both breakfast and evening meals in the hotel's restaurant were excellent. A wide variety of traditional italian fayre with something to suit every taste (plus a drinks voucher for every dinner). Although the hotel was geared more towards families, the entertainment team ensured that all guests were made to feel welcome and involved in the activities on offer. There was a free shuttle bus from the hotel into Peschiera, which we used every day. From the centre of Peschiera it was easy to explore Lake Garda and the surrounding area. The italian buses were both cheap and easy to use (we would recommend buying bus tickets in advance from local newsagents as it's cheaper still) and the boats on the lake were also easy to use (though more expensive). The only slight drawback about the hotel was that two of the bars advertised were not open throughout our stay so we had to purchase drinks from the pizza restaurant (but this was no great hardship). We would definitely recommend this hotel to couples and families alike - a difficult holiday to beat! (just don't forget the mosquito repellent!!!!) "

Book the correct hotel!
"Just returned from a two week stay at the PARC HOTEL. (previously known as The Parc Hotel Paradiso and golf resort - don't get it confused with the Golf Hotel Paradiso also in the same complex! From entering the hotel it has a very modern feel - almost looks like a sports centre entrance, so if you are looking for more italian cosy this is not the place for you. The hotel is very geared towards corporate events and sports clubs and you can feel like you are in the way as a holidaymaker! The resort is large - also has apartments, eden and golf residence. This is where there is a mini-market and laundry. Now to say a mini-market it doesn't have much stock and if you have young children (I have 2 three year olds and a 12 year old) it's not really got a great choice. Therefore you need to get a taxi to a supermarket - whick will cost about 10 euros each way and then you can only keep what fits in the minibar fridge. Talking of supermarkets - there are a few but taxis are required to all unless you are brave enough to walk for 25 mins near a dual carriageway and through a vineyard to the Euro spar which friends we meet bravely did! don't attempt it with young kids. The food in the hotel restaurant is fairly good but does get a bit predictable. The reception were helpful enough but on asking for extra pillows we had to wait to the next day! Around the hotel there is not really anywhere to walk unless you like golf and the course and the 4 hole, pitching, putting green are excellent - my 12 year old loved this. The free bus to Peschiera is a lifesaver and from Peschiera you can get the boat to Bardolina, Garda, Sirmione etc. You can also get the bus to Sirmione from the bus stop you get dropped off at and boat back which gives you longer there. The facilities in the hotel where all there but unfortunately not used. Only the grill bar was open, there is a lovely piana bar but it is only opened in the winter? An expresso bar which has never been opened? and apart from the kids disco, bingo and the guy on the keyboard that's it for entertainment. For a large hotel it needs all the bars opened and a well stocked minimarket. lovely indoor pool - you must buy a cap at 2.50 euros. Also outdoor pools are good but if you have young kids and they need the loo be prepared for a hike to the grill bar, down 2 flights of stairs with wet clothes - could be dangerous. I have to say how hard the animation crew work, they really put the hours in. All in all not for us - if you are a couple with teenagers who like golf/sports fine but not for under 5's."

"Have just returned from staying a week a the Parc Paradiso and have to say, it is one of the best holidays I have ever had. The hotel itself is around 30 mins from Verona airport and is based around a beautiful golf course, The grounds are kept in lush condition and it is extremely clean. The pools themselves are excellent. The Laguna pool is where all the action happens throughout the day, the Entertainments team (who are very friendly and make you feel very welcome) try to get you involved in all the activities (water polo, aqua aerobics, dance, darts etc...) and general fun games throughout the day. There is also a pool situated around a couple of hundred meters away if you don't like the noise of the music at the Laguna pool and there is also a kiddies pool though there were kids in all of the pools each day. The food again was great, plenty of choice at the buffet in the main restuarant, there is something for everyone at breakfast and dinner. There is another restuarant (think its called the Michaelangelo but we never found out where that was). The pizza bar by the pool is also a great place to have lunch, lots of variety and the staff are very friendly. Our room was massive, as was the bathroom. The cleaner made the bed everyday and provided new pool and room towels. There's a free bus that runs on the hour every hour from the hotel and takes you into Peschiera itself, a very nice little town. The bus will also drop you at the train station. Me and my girlfriend took the train to Venice which was only 1hr 20 mins away and was 16 euros return. All in all I would highly recommend the Parc Paradiso and the resort of Peschiera itself as it is very close to the airport and has the train station which is a bonus is you want to explore outside of Peschiera."

"i stayed in a party of 9 ages from 12 to 75 with 2 teenage girls included, second time to this hotel food good staff very nice only down side you have to get the bus (free) to main town so there is nothing in walking distance, but on the whole a lovely place to stay."

Close.... but no cigar
"Location - Right in the back of beyond but the hotel shuttle is great if you dont have a car. Reception and staff - Helpfull and friendly. Facilities - Very good, with something for everyone and a pool to match your mood from quiet Oasis to noisy activities. Dont expect a challenging game of golf though, all the courses are a little bit tame. Rooms - We stayed in the main Hotel which was fine. The room were a good size and decor was fine. If there was something to moan about it was the tiny and old fashioned TV. Not what you expect for the money and the balcony had' nt been cleaned or swept for a long long time. Restaurant - We are not hard to please but the standard of the food was just about passable. The dishes were unimaginative at best and bland at worst. Very rare to find something that should be hot to be hot (Except the soup) Overall I found it a bit cafeteria style. If your child does not like Pasta or Rice then its best to eat elsewhere. Kids are definately not catered for very well. On the + side the waiting staff are fast and reasonable attentive. Tip - Get there early for breakfast and dinner. There were people cuing for tables at Breakfast and Dinner and this was only the start of the season. In July and August it will be hell! For an early or late season break its fine but for a main summer holiday...... ummmmm I'll pass."

Nice Spacious Room for Italy
"I travelled alone and was delighted with the room provided, spacious, clean and modern. Normally in Italy you take the chance of getting a small room (admittedly with old word charm but you have to live in it!). The hotel is about two miles from the lake but has an excellent shuttle bus service. This hotel is great as a base for discovering the area. It does have pretty [enough] gardens but it seemed stupid to waste time there when there is SO MUCH TO SEE. I stayed on half-board and the food was excellent and plentiful. However service? what service? a shambles in the dining room, takes forever to order a glass of wine and forever for it to arrive. Service otherwise was v. good. I have been travelling for many years and the standard of room cleanliness was right up there. Clean bed linen every day and you didn't have to ask. Aside from the dining room staff, who were not unpleasant, just clueless every one else was welciming and friendly."

I had a very pleasant and enjoyable time...
"I had a very pleasant and enjoyable time at the Parc Hotel. It was extremely clean, and all staff were very child-friendly. (I went with my husband and 3 children- aged 6, 7 and 12.) The maid service was punctual, and after a long day out visiting somewhere, we came back to very clean and tidy rooms. One of the main qualities of this hotel were the swimming pools. There were very many of them, large, not very crowded, and very clean. Food was also delicious, with a wide range of options for breakfast and dinner. The kids mini disco every night was very enjoyable for my two younger children, they both learnt French, German, Dutch and Italian from the songs, as well as various actions. Clubs such as aqua aerobics were very popular and frequent as well. Nearby, there were adventure parks such as 'Gardaland' (which we did not get time to go to unfortunately) but AquaParadise was very fun for the whole family. There was also an extremely punctual shuttle service, train service, and ferry service.Trips we did included going by train to Verona (which I recommend- the city is beautiful and train is much cheaper than the bus shuttle there) The only downside I suppose was the kids clubs, which seemed to be unpopulated, and we discovered there was only one kids club 'Mini Club' which did not offer a great variety of activities. But we made do, and overall this whole holiday was extremely enjoyable! I strongly recommend it to any young families!"
