Not Worth The Money
"The hotel is hardley 1 star, The room was dirty and the bed cover was old and full of dust.$350.00 (USD) is A LOT OF MONEY for a hotel like this. The most they Sshould charge for this hotel is $90.00."

A Wonderful Christmas
"My husband and I just returned from a wonderful seven-day Christmas holiday in Lake Garda, with the Hotel Liberty serving as our base of operations.
The standard of food and drink here is very high, and the hotel laid on several gala holiday meals of a uniformly excellent standard. Despite the limited nature of the menus, they worked very hard to accommodate special requests, and nearly every member of our large group was kept very happy throughout.
The bar and lounge facilities are excellent, and were pleasant for late evening socialising on cold winter evenings where venturing further afield did not appeal. By the egregiously inflated standards of Dublin, the drink prices were very reasonable, especially for a hotel.
The crowning glory of the establishment is its spa, which is about the nicest I've ever been to. It's meticulously kept and gives one a real sense of luxury at middle-range hotel rates. Several of our group, myself included, signed up for treatments and found the beautificians and therapists to be excellent.
I would agree with the reviewers who found the bedrooms themselves rudimentary, but Riva del Garda is not a place to come for a holiday which you spend in your room, and we were impressed with the firm comfort of the bed and the efficient and modern bathroom.
All in all, we recommend this place most highly."

"I stayed in Grand Hotel Liberty for 6 nights in August 2006. The hotel builing is beautiful, as is the reception area, breakfast area and swimming pool. The rooms were very clean but were somewhat outdated and the decor could do with modernising. The bathroom was clean but there was no shower curtain or shower screen so water went everywhere. The staff were wonderful, particularly one gentleman who over-saw breakfast. He was so friendly and chirpy. I was also impressed to see the wall tiles in the public toilets, situated in the foyer, being cleaned. Even the very high ones!! The location was good, a 5 minuate stroll from the lake and the main square. I had a lovely holiday here and would stay here again."

"Myself and my husband stayed at the Grand Hotel Liberty for our 10 day honeymoon in August 2006. We booked directly with them via email which was very easy. From the moment we arrived we were impressed with the standard of decor and friendly, professional service. We stayed in a pool side suite over 2 levels. It was very clean but slightly dark and not very well sound proofed! Despite this, it had a lovely view of the pool and was serviced regularly. We chose the B&B option but ate in the hotels a la carte restaurant on several occasions, this was beyond our expectations. It was served in a beautiful dining room which I am sure was at one point a glamorous ballroom, much more preferable than the fairly bustling half board dining room. The food was of excellent quality and very reasonably priced, particularly the chateaubriand.
The spa facilities were excellent and a bargain compared to the same standard in the U.K, I had several treatments which really were a luxury worth having! The outdoor pool was beautiful and the whole hotel was in excellent conditon. All the staff were friendly and very professional. We highly reccommend the Grand Hotel Liberty."

Fabulous holiday, lovely hotel
"Riva del Garda is so beautiful, well worth a visit and so picturesque, I'd love to retire there. Plus, its so very clean and tasteful. The Hotel Liberty was great and the outdoor pool in pretty surroudings - pool very very cold though - don't forget your wetsuit! Our room was a huge split level room but a bit dark for my likening, but seeing as we were out and about on a daily basis, it didn't matter and our bed was one of the most comfortable hotels beds I've slept in. The evening meals were delicious and we ate some lovely dishes! Lunch time snacks not so good though - portion sizes changed during the week and sometimes they weren't hot - different chef? Or chef not in a good mood?! Would recommend eating out for lunch. Staff were fabulous though and seemed like they enjoyed their jobs! Air conditioning was managed by the manager so you couldn't adjust it to how you wanted it and the weather was very hot. But we still had an amazing holiday."

"We have just returned from a fantastic stay in Grand Hotel Liberty. I was concerned after reading a few negative comments before travelling.
I can't believe that the person saying the hotel was 'awful' recently was at the same place.
Our standard room was light and airy. I was pleased after reading of small attic rooms, as we hadn't paid any supplemant to upgrade. The hotel is attractive and well maintained, I don't know why someone has said that it needs refurbishing. The bar and dining room are very nice rooms and look recently done. The spa and indoor pool was lovely. It was well worth 8 euros each for the week and there was a relaxing atmosphere.
The food was quite good and the staff in the restaurant were excellent. Service was efficient and everyone was friendly and helpful.
Reception staff were also friendly and knowledgeable. They gave us bus times and lots of local info that saved us queueing in the tourist information office.
The Inghams rep Lorna was great. She was really funny and very good at her job. Her welcome meeting was a walk around Riva and she told us useful information about what you can see for free. She wasn't just trying to sell Inghams excursions. We went on the lake tour (about £25 each,) because we wanted to see Sirmione and it takes ages on the ferries.
We enjoyed Arco market (on certain wednesdays in the month - ask at reception, Katia lives there and can tell you the bus times.) It was a nice little town and the local bus stops right outside the hotel and was less than a euro. The arboretum in Arco was nice too.
I would recommend the hotel and resort to anyone. The location is good - just a couple of minutes stroll to the lake. The town is picturesque and there are plenty of beautiful within easy reach.
Have a look on lastminute[--] for deals as it was much cheaper than the brochure price and well worth it."

Truly lovely hotel and Staff
"We just returned from Lake Garda, and we couldnt be more pleased with our holiday, its was fantastic from start to finish. Lake Garda is stunningly beautiful, the whole area is spotlessly clean, and the Italian people are truly lovely.
We stayed in the Grand Liberty Hotel, in Riva, and we cant honestly say a bad word about it.
We were very nervous going as we had read terrible reviews about the hotel on this forum, but we couldntly honestly fault the hotel. The Lobby ,Dining Room, Bedrooms, pool area, gardens and Spa are all spotlessly clean, and beautiful.
The staff were the friendliest hotel staff we've ever met, they were wonderful, they were more than happy to help in any way they could. The receptionists were polite friendly and helpful. The Maitre'D, was a charming and lovely man, nothing was too much trouble for him. On some of the evenings our daughter didnt like any of the four choices offered for dinner and they cooked dishes she asked for without one cross word.
The food was nice, if a little unimaginative, but it wasnt terrible and it did us just fine. We read that a previous poster said that breakfast items werent replaced as they were consumed! we didnt find this at all, there was an abundance of fruit, crossiants, cheeses, cold meats, yoghurts, bread, jams, scrambled eggs, bacon etc, and everytime anything ran remotely low it was again stocked up. One morning I mentioned to my family that i would love some strawberries and before I knew it a bowl of strawberries was placed quietly on my table without any fuss! The waiter had overheard me and just went quietly and appeared with them!!
The rooms were spotlessly clean, decorated in old worlde style, but very spacious and the air conditioning was on 24/7. We had a huge room, but friends of ours who were given attic rooms said they were a bit cramped, but still ok.
The spa was absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean, the staff were very polite and welcoming.
The night receptionist was an elderly gentleman, and a really charming man, he talked to us quite a lot and told us all about the area, and kept us entertained with stories of his life, we loved him!
Our tour guide Antoinetta was a lovely woman, warm, kind and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for her, she answered all our questions and did anything she could to make us feel welcome, she made our holiday very special. The drivers of our coach, Andrea and Maurio were gentlemen.
I was very apprenhensive going to The Liberty Hotel, after reading very negative reviews but my fears were neeedless as we had a wonderful holiday, and the Liberty Hotel was perfect, the Staff are a wonderful bunch of people. We would definitely return to the Liberty and recommend it thoroughly. Please dont let the negative reviews of some people ruin your holiday, go to the Liberty and judge it for yourself. We give it top marks, we absolutely had a ball."

Great Holiday, so relaxing at the Libertyy Hotel
"Just back from a great holiday staying at grand Hotel Liberty. Spotless hotel with extra friendly staff who could not do enough for us. meals were top class and waiter service was excellent. Very charming hotel but at same time had modern facilities. Beauty Spa was so luxurious and reasonably priced. Lovely peaceful pool area and sun loungers available to guests. We upgraded to a superior before going on holiday as an extra treat-so well worth it-beautifully decorated and spacious. Saying that we heard no complaints from any of 50 guests on our tour of their rooms. Hotel is definately worth a visit. Be prepared for a friendly welcome and delicious meals. Plenty of info on 'things to do' from helpful staff at reception."

"Hotel needs to be refurbished. Ordering meals in the morning for the evening is ridiculous, as i'm sure the meals are cooked early and reheated. The staff were excellent . The guide was So So"

"Left the Liberty on Tuesday last 4th April 2006 after staying 8 days. It was a very enjoyable stay. The room was good, food excellent and music most nights. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would have liked Sky TV in the room but you can't have everything. Another thing that would have been good was a kettle in the room, you know the Irish for tea!

One word... Fantastic...
"My husband and I have returned from a great trip to Riva Del Garda (1st to 8th of December, at Grand Hotel Liberty. I'd just like to say that it was the best holiday we have ever been on. The hotel was absolutely fantastic and the staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous at all times. We were lucky enough to stay in a beautiful apartment beside the hotel and couldn't get over the value for money on the holiday. We had a lovely guide for the tours, Renate Teilman was her name and she was so helpful and did her best to accommodate everyone she made the trip truly memorable and enjoyable. Anyway I felt obliged to write you myself and thank you for a truly memorable holiday and I have recommended you to all the people I work with and just about anybody I have spoken to since our return. Kind regards, Celia."

"We are just back from a fantastic week in the Grand Hotel Liberty in Riva Del Garda. I just wanted to write let people know know that we really enjoyed our stay. I had read the bad reviews on this site before I left and was worried about the kind of hotel it was, I can safely say it was one of the best holidays we've ever had. The food was fantastic every night, the staff couldnât have been nicer, and the trips (with John) were amazing. The hotel has a real old world charm with modern comforts. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Riva. We are counting the days until we can go back.
P.S. Don't let someones bad experience put you off staying somewhere. Go and make up your own mind. I'm so glad I did."
