Fantastic New & Modern Hotel with Delightful & Wonderful Staff
"We had a terrific five day stay here. From the moment we arrived, the staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and willing to help in any way possible. This very modern hotel is less than one year old and has all the conveniences you'd expect in a new hotel. Fast internet, large screen TVs etc. The rooms are well appointed and the suites, which we were able to see, are all large and absolutely beautiful. The views of the sea are magnificent as well. The included breakfast on the terrace was simply terrific, with a wide variety of choices (including made to order omelettes). All the coffee and tea you could possibly drink. We became friendly with the hotel manager Giacomo Battafarano, who was incredibly gracious and kind. He took a personal interest in our stay and demonstrated the commitment to excellence that marks this hotel. We each had a massages, which were not particularly good. The massage staff is clearly inexperienced and does not understand how to individualize massages to the client's personal needs. We shared this information with management. We loved our stay and highly recommend this hotel. However, do keep in mind that it is very new and modern and not a classic older hotel, which some might prefer."

Simply the Best
"A beautiful hotel staffed by incredible customer obsessed people. The entire staff especially Svetlana(who must possess a photographic memory)met every request with promptness and an eager attitude to make us feel welcome. The General Manager was highlyl visible and let us know that he was available if we needed anything. A great experience."

Beautiful hotel with incredible staff
"Recently my family & I had a most enjoyable stay at the Hotel Imperiale. After an extensive search to find the 'ideal' hotel we decided to book the Imperiale (the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor were so helpful!). From the initial phone call we were so impressed by the helpfulness, professionalism (and excellent standard of English) of the staff we dealt with. The hotel also arranged a transfer (extra charge) from Catania, saving us a lot of hassle! The minute we pulled up outside the Imperiale we were taken aback by the impressive architecture and facade of this brand new hotel. The front office staff (Svetlana, Andrea, Enzo) were extremely professional and helpful (e.g. letting us use their office PC's as the Business Centre was not ready) as were the restaurant staff (Loredana and Milena). The chef was also very obliging and made my daughter the most delicious crepes (even though they were not on the menu!) and even asked for her feedback! The complimentary Sicilian sweets placed in our room were delicious! The interiors of the rooms are very elegant and the bathrooms are ultra modern and state of the art. The swimming pool has glass bottom panels giving you a view into the hotel lobby - a hit with the kids! The hotel does not have facilities for kids but you are 1 min away from all the action of downtown Taormina with its vibrant and varied street entertainers, musicians, mimes and artists. The proximity to 'downtown' Taormina makes the Imperiale a great hotel to stay. The free shuttle to the beach is handy for spending a few hours by the beach. The few teething problems (spa not fully operational, roof garden unfinished) were acknowledged by the staff. The GM, Mr. Giacomo Battafarano, who was so gracious and professional, assured us that the all the hotel facilities will soon be completed and he looked forward to welcoming us back to the Imperiale. We look forward to a visit in 2010!"

Lavish retreat in the heart of Taormina
"We stayed in the Hotel Imperiale for a week towards the end of August. The hotel's website publicised a special rate to coincide with its recent opening, which was excellent value. Arriving at the impressive lobby we were greeted by very welcoming staff and promptly taken to our sea view room. The rooms are a standard size for Italy. The decor is contemporary with quality stylish furnishings. Servicing was fantastic; towels were replaced twice daily and there was a turndown service. Each room has a flat screen Sony Bravia TV. The views of the coast and towards Taormina's beautiful old Greek amphitheatre were stunning and generally more peaceful than we expected being in the heart of the town. The infinity pool and pool area is bliss and the semi-glass bottom was a cool feature. Pool service was very attentive. On the days it got a bit too crowded for us we organised the car service to take us to the beach. The hotel car service takes and collects you on request to any beach in Taormina. We spent several days at the beach near the village of Mazzarò where you can take short excursions to the local coves. The views of Isola Bella are breathtaking. In the evening the town is lively and there are many restaurants to choose from. The hotel's recommendations were perfect. We had dinner one evening in the hotel and the food was fabulous - exceptionally fresh and well-prepared. The staff is incredibly friendly (and always smiling!). Lack of wifi was slightly inconvenient but we were able to use the internet at reception for free whenever we wanted. Giacomo the General Manager was sincere and very accommodating and we have already recommended this hotel to several friends. Having recently visited Porto Cervo, Capri and Positano, Hotel Imperiale is one of the best and will quickly become one of Italy's leading hotels. Thanks for a fantastic stay!"

Very good Hotel
"We stayed in this hotel for 4 nights at start of September. I agree with the other reviewers. Excellent hotel. Great location - less than two minutes walk from the main street. Great views from sea view room (cannot comment on the "mountain views" ) The room we had was a delux one and had two small balconies, with expansive views of the sea. A beautiful sight in the morning and indeed all day. On the plus side: Great location Very friendly staff (Svetlana and Andrea were exceptionally helpful - booking restaurants and giving us a lift to the train station) clean spacious room HUGE bed (turndown service) Large bathroom, with great "rain" shower. The pool was small enough but has a great feature of glass floor so you can see into the lobby. A few minor issues: As it has just opened there were a few missing amenities -roof garden not open - it will be lovely when it is open, sauna and steam room not fully operational, the spa not up and running yet. The poolside menu was expensive for what you get and yes you can get better quality and cheaper, in the town but you will have to leave the pool! There was no in room directory (map or local info), no do not disturb sign, nor any room service menu . So overall the experience was a good one. I would return and would recommend it to a friend. If there are any queries on this hotel, post them to the taormina forum on here and I will gladly advise."

V Good, but some tweeking needed
"Wanted to book somewhere special for my wifes 30th and being hoteliers we have high expectations! found this hotel after i decided on Sicily and it really is a lovely spot. Having just reopened after an extensive refurb, the hotel has a great feel to it and it is in an excellent location. what stood out for me were the reception staff, top class and v well trained in customer care. the pool area is lovely and you could sit in the infinity pool all day and enjoy the views! The food in the restaurant and pool bar is over priced however and with the choice of restaurants on the doorstep of the hotel, they will struggle in the restaurant. Breakfast was of a very good quality, but no hot food selection? Rooms are very nice and comfortable but are missing some of the detail, no 'do not disturb' sign or breakfast card and no in room directory. All in all however a great stay and we will go back for a return visit when they have had a chance to iron out the details..."

"Just back from a week here and agree with everything in the previous review. The hotel is brand new and spotlessly clean, decorated beautifully. The pool area and spa are amazing, with the aromatherapy showers, sauna, steamroom and gym free of charge. Great location as it's only a 2 minute walk to the centre. Staff were very helpful, phoning every few days to make sure everything is ok and calling nightly with the weather for the following day! All spoke English, which is not to be taken for granted in this place! Pool food is lovely but a bit pricey, as one would expect in any top class hotel. Balconies are very small but with nice views, tv in the rooms are amazing and bathrooms are very modern - but would recommend getting a room with a bath for elderly people. Breakfast is lovely although no hot food which may bother some people. To give a fair review I feel I have to point out that the downside to the hotel being so new is that it's not yet fully finished (roof garden wasn't open and some fixtures and fittings missing) and it therefore may have some teething problems. We were over in Taormina for a wedding and the bride-to-be banged her head on the revolving glass doors 2 days before and had to receive 6 stitches. The doors were very dangerous as there was no markings whatsoever on them which was subsequently amended. While the hotel staff themselves were very helpful, the manager negotiated free rooms etc but was nowhere to be seen upon checkout!!! However, the hotel itself is still beautiful and the unfortunate incident didn't take away from the level of service or design of the hotel. I would definitely recommend it for anyone going to Taormina."

Can't wait to return
"We have just returned from a week's stay at the newly opened Hotel Imperiale. We were a little apprehensive about staying there as we had literally found out the hotel had only just opened 2 days before flying out (we were not informed at time of booking!). However, after a few phone calls e-mails etc decided to go ahead despite knowing Spa was not open and that they were still working on 2 floors. We had been told pool was open and gym (much to son's delight). We arrived to a smell of fresh plaster. One of the managers showed us around the hotel which I thought was a nice touch. I noticed they did this to all the guests though not sure if they would be able to manage this in the long term. First impressions - our 17 and 14 year old thought it was excellent husband and myself noticed little bits of plaster around lifts and few niggles in the bedroom such as no glasses in bathroom or on minibar (they came a few days later) bedside lights didn't work (sorted immediately) and hotel had no wi fi something they are working on. What was nice was being one of the first guests - all the staff were very friendly and helpful from reception through to pool staff and restaurant. They could not do enough for you. The pool was lovely, not very big but very stylishly designed with views of Greek theatre. The downside was it loses the sun 5ish but still a pleasant place to sit and read. Breakfast was buffet style with the food presented beautifully - almost too good to eat! We ate in restaurant as breakfast room wasn't open (something we didn't know) so it would be interesting to see what the breakfast room is like. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. We would like to return when everything is up and running - Spa, breakfast room and Roof garden (which I believe they are meant to have)."

A lovely hotel with excellent staff
"We just returned from a week-end stay at Hotel Imperiale in Taormina. The hotel is new and modern with a classic feel. The exclusive room we had was lovely, modern, with a very good sized bathroom with bath and shower and lovely furnishings. What we were mostly impressed by was the politeness and helpfulness of the staff. We had an excellent light lunch by the pool and asked for a light breakfast in bed, which was also provided with excellent pastries and coffee. The position is just right, in a quiet place but very close from the main road. This hotel has just opened but I am more than sure that it will keep on improving with time as things settle down for ex. we asked for wifi and were told it was not yet available. However, we will definitely return!!!!"
