A wonderful hotel with excellent service and an extremely good value
"Our Superior Double room was spacious and clean, and we were delighted to find not one, but two balconies. The large bathroom, which featured a tub with Jacuzzi, was an added comfort. The wonderfully efficient staff at the Hotel Villa Schuler played an important role in our memorable 6-night stay. All our interactions with the hotel staff were pleasant, and every request was handled promptly. One situation stands out, however, and relates to luggage lost by Alitalia. Every staff member working the reception desk was extremely helpful in dealing with the airline. Several calls each day were made to learn of any updates, and one staff member even checked the Alitalia website to see if any additional information could be learned from this source. Finally, much to our delight and surprise our bag was delivered to Cantania airport several days into our stay, and we firmly believe that hotel staff played a critical role in facilitating the recovery our bag (and its delivery to Cantania, since we flew into Palermo). We would unhesitatingly recommend the Hotel Villa Schuler to anyone planning a trip to Taormina."

A wonderfull hotel and exceptional staff
"How wrong can the person from Australia be in his/her comments .We returned from a weeks stay at the Villa Schuler yesterday - what a delightful hotel and gardens with stunning views, located right in the heart of the town. Friendly, helpful multi lingual staff who made you feel very welcome, the garage valet parking was a godsend and well worth the small charge - rapidly got the car out for us every day and the same parking it on returning. Great room - room 15, corner room second floor, overlooking both the bay and etna - two balconies and air con - lovely bathroom with spa bath - would recomend this room. Breakfast on the terrace very good - and the breakfast staff outstanding - after day 2 they remembered the order without having to ask ! thats service for you . for a stay of three days or more a 20% discount brings the room rate down to Euro 112 per day - excellent value. A big thank you Mr Shroder and his staff for making a short holiday pleasurable and relaxing."

"We stayed at the Villa Schuler for 5 nights in May. We had a top floor junior suite with large terrace from which there was a great view. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The ensuite shower was small but perfectly adequate. Our breakfast was taken on the hotel terrace making a very pleasant start to the day and I can recommend the generous helping of fresh fruit. The hotel is centrally situated and a short walk to the main sreet (up steps) with it's shops and restaurants. The hotel staff were polite and helpful. There is also a pretty garden with seating . Our stay here was a good start to our holiday in Sicily and the Aeolian islands."

A Real Gem
"Our stay was over five nights in mid-June, 2006 in a double garden-view room with balcony. The hotel has beautiful extensive gardnes to the rear and a sea-facing terrace at the front. Rooms are equipped with a small refrigerator which guests can use to store whatever they have bought- either from the hotel's sensibly-priced bar, or from outside. A big big plus over the expensive conventional hotel mini-bar, and just one small example of how this hotel excels. Everything about Villa Schuler was First Class. Service was provided by friendly, always-smiling people 24-hours a day. Breakfast was taken on the delightful sea view terrace which also looked across to Mt Etna. The terrace was also an ideal spot for late afternoon drinks. The hotel does not have a restaurant but the breakfast was a selection of fresh croissants, rolls, jams, fresh coffee, ham, yoghurt, eggs whichever way you wanted them, fruit juice - everything you could wish for. Excellent restaurants abound within a few minutes' walk. Our hire car was kept secure in the hotel's own garage. The extra euros 14 per day was well worth it. Especially for the brilliant helpful park-up and collect service which we enjoyed. We would recommend this hotel to anyone planning to visit this popular destination and we look forward to returning to the Hotel Villa Schuler ourselves in the next year or two."

Hotel perfection in Taormina
"The Hotel Villa Schuler in Toarmina is a real find for anyone considering a visit to Sicily or Taormina. I am a fairly seasoned business and personal traveller with high standards when it comes to accomodations. In planning a family vacation I had read about the hotel in enough different places to make me think it could be the best choice for us. It surpassed every expectation in every category. Villa Schuler is a beautiful and magical place-a jewel!. The location is perfect in this charming resort community. The views are sensational. The rooms and bathrooms are excellent. The entire staff is coureteous and helpful. We were there a full week and every day we kept noticing the great attention to detail and obvious labor of love by Mr. Gerhard Schuler, the third generation owner and manager. Mr Schuler and I had become virtual email pen pals over many months as he suggested and organized restaurants, outings, guides and transportation for us. His, Christine's and the entire staffs' help made our experience at Villa Schuler a memorable vacation for all of us. Although it seems to be classified as a 3 star hotel, it is easily a 4 star in my judgment. VWH in NYC, USA"

Very disappointing and not good value
"There are numerous better hotels in Taormina for the same amount of money. For example, the Riis down the road (much closer to the town centre) has free parking, a beautiful big swimming pool and a tennis court. It is a truly gorgeus old villa with marvellous views over the bay of Taormina. All this for 150 euros a night a double including breakfast on the balcony (and they take all credit cards). Schuler's in comparison is cold, sterile and badly furnished, has no pool, charges a hefty fee for parking and is a fair distance from the town centre. In addition, Schuler's demand cash payment while taking your credit card details should you cancel within 14 days of your stay. We booked a room two days in advance and then cancelled one day later (giving them 24 hours notice). They deducted a full night's payment from our credit card (175 euros) despite the fact we had only booked two nights before. We will not forget this experience."

Great value, location, service
"Wonderful hotel with great service. My husband and I spent 3 beautiful days at the Schuler. Our room was large and comfortable, with a small sitting room and a balcony overlooking the sea. The walk to the main streets and the Greek Theater area was short and pleasant, but the location is peaceful and quiet. And the staff and owner were great -- very friendly and helpful, even though we booked at the last minute. The breakfast wasn't as luxurious as others we had in Sicily, but the lovely terrace makes up for that. An excellent value in a town with lots of hotels!"

Suitable only for TUV guests or German?
"When we booked this hotel(about two monthes before the check-in date), the hotel confirmed to give us the top floor, wide sea view, suite room.ãHowever, at our check in, the hotel staff gave us the worst room with only shower (not bath tub) in the basement, facing with the garden restaurant. The view from this room was the roof and people eating in the restaurant. We complained but the owner never apologized and just made excuse that it happened by his staff's double booking. The owner also said that the basement room is the same price, same grade suite room as we were supposed to stay. We finally knew that TUV(German Travel Agency) tour guests checked in before us and they might take the first priolity. We paid one night full suite room charge (because the hotel owner demanded) then we moved to a different hotel in the next morning. we were very disappointed with the faithless and mean attitude of the owner."
