Lovely Hotel, great views
"We stayed at the Olimpo in September 2005. The brochure explains that you need to use a Lift and a fuinicular to reach the Hotel, so we were well prepared. Although time was needed to enter and exit the Hotel this was a small price to pay for the excellent views across the mountains and sea. The Hotel was very clean and the staff extremely friendly especially Ronaldo in the restaurant. The food was buffet style with a wide variety to choose from. The atmosphere in the restaurant was informal but the gents had to wear trousers in the evening. Our room was large with a terrace type balcony and sea view, and was cleaned every day. We used the pool at the top of the Hotel most days which had plenty of sunbeds. The facilities in the Hotel were excellent and included an indoor pool and fitness centre. Internet access was also available at a small cost. A courtesy bus is provided in order to reach the resort of Taormina via a cable car although this was some what irregular, however, the local buses were not much better, but we always got there in the end! The resort of Letojanni is small but has the required facilities i.e. beach and minimarkets for beer, water etc. All in all we had a lovely holiday and would highly recommend this hotel. However, it is not for everybody due to the high location and quiet resort."

"We stayed at the Olimpo with our two children (7&9) in August which is on the hillside overlooking Letojanni with great views to Taormina and across the sea to Italy. It was well worth upgrading to a sea view. The hotel guests are mainly Italian with British next, then a few French and Germans. Food was buffet style for breakfast and dinner and was a consistently high standard. The evening meal was particularly good with a chef cooking local and regional pasta dishes freshly and another fresh fish and some meats. There was a great variety of salads particularly the char grilled vegetables. Our kids loved the food and tried lots of different things though some others missed chips etc. The children made lots of friends around the pool and had a great time. The kids club mainly catered for Italians so we only used it once, but the entertainments team do run some activities round the pool & on the beach - we joined in beach volleyball which was fun. There is a lovely terrace with views over the sea to Italy. The large pool is right at the top of the hotel, with great views and isn't overlooked at all. Unfortunately this pool is quite deep and our 7 yr old could only stand up on the steps - there is a shallower pool you can use down the funicular at Hotel Antares. To get down to the buses and beach you travel in a glass funicular (great views, but hot) and a lift through the rocks. Using your hotel card you can use the Lido Tropicana for free. The beach is mainly coarse sand and small rocks and falls away quickly. We enjoyed taking the 10 min Funibus to the Isla Bella - shallower & great for snorkelling and seeing lots of fish even in depths where our kids could stand up. We also took the bus to the cable car & Taormina which was good for shopping, more views & the greek amphitheatre. We found the hotel minibus unreliable-it did not arrive on the 3 occasions we tried to use it but others did manage to use it. The hotel was very helpful - we hired a car which we picked up & dropped off at the hotel and on our final day we had free use of the gym and towels to shower before going. Maids were good at cleaning every day and the room was much bigger than we expected with plenty of room for the childrens beds and a good terrace. Overall we had a very enjoyable and relaxing holiday."

"We've just returned from a week at the Olimpo Hotel. The hotel is set high on a hill which provides fantastic views out to the sea. The buffett breakfast was of a good standard. We would recommend swapping the evening buffet meal as this was pretty average and very samey for the buffett lunch which always provided a good hot selection. Go into Taormina in the evenings - albeit a bit of a pain to get there; - through hotel foyer, down the funicular (boiling hot); through the next foyer, down a lift through rock, under a long tunnel to the Funibus stop, onto the bus, 5 mins on here to the cable car station, on the cable car 2 mins and then you are in magnificent Tamormina which is well worth a 30min hassle to get there - you don't notice the time - the main of which is waiting for the bus which runs every 30 mins. Go to the Anafora just off the Corso Umberto (just after first gate into the Corso Umberto - Cable Car end not Excelsior Palace end) for a lovely meal - owner is great and the fish is fresh that day. It's a great place to watch the sunset, admire Mount Etna, and people watch. The window shopping is good too. I wouldn't waste time in the hotel at night go out and experience Sicily it's too good to be wasted."

"Me and my partner have just returned from the Olimpo Hotel and it was fantastic. The location and views are breathtaking. The food is superb and dining in the Belvedere at lunch time was a lovely experience. I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. An added bonus was being able to use the facilities at the 2 sister hotels. The rooms are very spacious and a sea view room is a must. The hotel provides a courtesy bus to Taormina which is only 5 kilometeres away. If you like a good standard hotel with excellent facilities then I would recommend the Olimpo for a very memorable holiday."

"This was our first holiday in Sicily and we were not dissapointed, the hotel is absolutely fantastic, the rooms were fairly average but comfortable and spacious but the rest of the hotel made up for it, the swimming pool is nice and clean and there are lots of sunbeds, the staff at the hotel are very friendly and the food was absolutely gorgeous, there was a different Italian Region every night with plenty of choice, myself being vegetarian did not go hungry. Letojanni itself is not very exciting, but Taormina is a 5min bus ride with the bus stop just outside the hotel. Taormina is a small but very picturesque resort with plenty of good shops and restaurants, you're spoilt for choice. A must see is the ampitheatre where you can see Mount Etna on a clear day. I would definitely go back to Sicily and to the Olimpo Hotel, I would say though that it's probably not a good place for people who suffer from vertigo."

Nice views, comfortable hotel for a good value
"My husband and I stayed at the Olimpo several times while living in Sicily between 2000-2003. It is truly a wonderful property located on a hill with gorgeous views of the sea and convenient to Taormina, located in the coastal community of Lettojanni. The hotel provides a shuttle into Taormina. There is a cool elevator that takes you to the bottom of the cliff for easy access to the beach. There is a beautiful spa on the property (one of the nicest I've seen) with a variety of treatments, indoor pool (in addition to outdoor pools) and steam room/sauna. The hotel is actually connected to 2 other sister hotels and guests can use any of the properties. The service is friendly. The ½ pensione plan is a good deal. Though the food (buffet) is nothing spectacular it is good and plentiful. Unless you donât plan on leaving the hotel it is not worth full board as youâll probably be out touring during lunch. Here is the website to all of the properties owned by the Parc Hotel company --------------"

"Not luxurious but absolutely beautiful location, excellent food..the buffet at dinner is a very good standard and great for vegetarians, good pool, free access to beach lido with beds and umbrellas, lots of Italian guests, spacious rooms, close to public transport. Letojanni is quaint and unsophisticated in the best possible way... shades of Fellini. The Olimpo is a relaxed and pleasant place to stay and good value for money. Make sure you book a room with a sea view (although we were moved to one on request). Bella."

"We stayed at the Antares Olimpo at the end of July 2002. The weather was excellent, so we put the pool area to good use. The property was quite busy when we were there, however, there were always enough sunbeds to go round. Our room was of a high standard and offered a great view down the coast. Best enjoyed with a bottle of beer and a cigarette. We were on all inclusive and the drinks and service were excellent. We only ate breakfast and lunch at the hotel, preferring to eat out in Taormina at night. If you get the chance, go to Gran Duca, a restaurant on the main street through Taormina. The food's excellent and you get a gorgeous sea view, mind you most of the restaurants offer outdoor eating with a view of the sea. Eating out wasn't expensive which was good and after a couple of days we were used to the short bus and cable car ride from the Olimpo to Taormina. Also woth a look is the Ampitheatre, but go in the evening when it's a bit cooler. An excellent holiday all round and we're thinking of going back in 2004."
