"A lovely Hotel with stunning views of Lake Garda. 20 min walk down to the front and you had to get a Taxi back if you can find one. Watch the weather because when it rains , it rains. the food was good but not much choice at breakfast only 2 warm meals and mostly continental. the evening meal was buffet style and plenty to choose from. Overall a nice place to stay and the people were friendly and polite. yes I would recomend it to others but only if you are fit to walk up and down the hill."

"A stunning setting with lovely views (high above the lake) and super outdoor terraces with pools. Away from the facilities of the resort but a pleasant stroll down needing transport back. Near the olive oil factory and birthplace of Saint Daniel Comboni, both minutes walk away. Good food. Would return in the future but need a degree of fitness."

"We have stayed at the Cristina twice and there are definate plusses and minuses. The high vantage point of the hotel gives great lake views, but means a bit of a slog into Limone and an even bigger one returning uphill. There is a minibus free to some but not to others, depending on your travel company. But it stops running at 6:00pm,so if you want a pleasant evening in Limone it's shanks pony. Also the driver has a Napoleon complex and has his own system for deciding whom he allows on. The standard rooms are pretty basic and on our first visit in 2005 we encountered many guests trying to get a room change. But we had a superior room last year and it was much better with excellent lake views. The hotel gardens are very impressive on differing levels. Although there are 3 pools on site, one is reserved for the sister hotel, and one on the lower level as far as we could see was never used, not having loungers. The other pool although attractive, was always crowded and loungers were often "reserved" very early on.In the end we joined in, putting a towel on loungers before breakfast.!The water was always very cold. The buffet meals were excellent with plenty of choice, although breakfast was mostly cold food with just scrambled egg and hotdog sausages for those who liked something hot.Drinks including wine and spring water were free during the evening meal. Overall we enjoyed our stay and by phoning Crystal Holidays direct about three weeks before we wanted to travel we negotiated a great reduction on brochure price-which was nice!"

Great Hotel, fantastic views and freindly staff
"We stayed at the Hotel Cristina for 7 nights from 6th-13th May 2007. The views from our balcony were stunning and we found the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel gardens are kept beautifully and the whole esperience here was very relaxing. The evening meal buffet has plenty to choose from, but don't miss out on the gourmet menu which can be booked 24 hrs in advance and was very nice. It is a short (15 mins max) and plesant walk into Limone Centra but I wouldn;t fancy walking back as it is all very uphill! The minibus service is reliable and runs about every hour. Unfortunately the minibus service stops at about 6pm, so if you want to experience Limone at night (which is lovely and chilled out and highly recommended) you will have to jump in taxi to get back up to the hotel or walk. We managed to get a taxi no problem at all - I think it cost around 8-10 Euros. I would recommend it as a friendly, well kept and well run hotel. The best feature though is the magnificent views over the lake - superb!"

"Stayed at the Cristina April/May 2007. We had booked through the Hotel asking for rooms next to friends. On arrival were given what can only be described as chalet rooms with disabled facilities. We asked to change and Rosie on reception was most helpful. We were immediately offered alternative main building rooms which were excellent with a terrace overlooking the lake. We had alocated sunloungers and table/chairs. The rooms to ask for are on corridor commencing 315 and are far better than those originally on offer. Limone is a lovely resort and the walk into town is okay if you take your time with channels/ alleys along the way. We also used the hotel minibus which is fine. Food was good, the gourmet restaurant at no extra charge offers a different menu but really is just an area of the main dining room witrh waiter service. The free wine and soft drinks(for softies) is a bonus which we enjoyed to the full. All in all a great hotel with friendly staff and excellent value at 67 Euro half board for two people. Highly recommended"

Nice Hotel on Lake Garda
"We stayed at Hotel Cristina for 2 nights on 27th September. The hotel is in a wonderful location overlooking Lake Garda. The gardens and pools are lovely. Our room was quite old fashioned and needed some modernising - I think it was one of the cheapest so maybe the other rooms are a bit better. We breakfast + dinner included in the price. The restaurant was very large and busy and the food was very good for 2 nights. For breakfast there was a large hot and cold buffet. At dinner there was a salad section, pasta, meats and desserts and also wine! We enjoyed the food but I would imagine it would get a bit repetitive after a few more days. We had afternoon tea and cake by the pool about 5ish, which was very popular. There was also some entertainment in the evening by the pool. We would probably stay at Hotel Cristina again if we returned to Lake Garda as it was a very good price with food and wine included."

An excellent hotel
"We have just returned from an 11 day break at the Hotel Christina in Limone. I was worried about the location from what I had read in previous reviews and from the holiday brochure. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was not as arduous as I thought it would be. The views from the hotel grounds and indeed our balcony were stunning. The hotel staff were all very helpful and friendly. We did not have an upgraded room but found it to be perfectly acceptable with the promised water and fruit waiting for us on our arrival. The free wine with our evening meal was very drinkable and the food was excellent. We had our free coffee and cake on the afternoons when we were about at the time and there was plenty to go round. The walks above the hotel were very steep but well worth the effort to get an even better view over the lake. All in all an excellent holiday in a beautiful location."

"We have just returned from two weeks in the Christina and like the previous reviewer we were worried about the quality of the hotel because of the reviews written here. The hotel exceeded all of our expectations. Firstly it cannot be underestimated how beautiful the views are - on the way to the hotel we passed several 5 and 4 * hotels whose location was not in the same class as the Christina. We thought that too much emphasis was placed on number of steps and distance to the town - neither of which we found a big problem. The rooms were excellent - very clean, and cleaned every day without fail - even when we stayed in bed late the cleaners came around again in the afternoon to tidy. The reception helped us with every enquiry we had in a friendly manner. In addition they have entertainment every night which was always fun. Finally - there are three great swimming pools, and as guest at the Christina you can use all of the facilities at the nearby Leonardo Da Vinci (private beach, deck chairs, crazy golf, canoeing) - an unexpected bonus."

We found the hotel Cristina had a friend...
"We found the hotel Cristina had a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and all the staff appeared very helpful. The dining facilities were in a very pleasant room with beautiful views of the lake. Plenty of choice and as much as you wanted to eat was available with breakfast and dinner being served for substantial periods of time. No rushing to get down to breakfast or dinner to get the best grub necessary here! The rooms were cleaned every day with fresh towels provided and although basic, were clean and tidy. There were two nice outdoor pools and plenty of sun loungers, with a small pool for children, and a very convenient bar right next to the pool. On the downside the walk into Limone was a bit of a trek as it was all downhill. Walking back to the hotel is not for the faint hearted as the last bit up to the hotel consists of several dozen steps. After one night of doing this we found the taxies cheap enough (8 euros)! Overall it was a lovely venue and made for a good holiday and we would definitely consider going back."

"We have recently returned from our holiday in Limone,Lake Garda. This was our first family holiday abroad and we all had an excellent time. I must admit I was slightly concerned about the standard of accomodation we would recieve at the hotel we booked - the hotel Cristina. I had read some slightly worrying reviews on this website just before we left to go on holiday. Having stayed in the hotel for 11 nights I personally would conclude that the hotel is perfectly adequate and in fact exceeded my expectations. Yes, the rooms are slightly dated, with old fashioned furniture and decor, but more importantly for me the rooms were clean and comfortable. I found the staff to be very helpful. The standard of breakfast and evening buffet was excellent with a wide variety of foods to choose from. Overall bearing in mind this hotel has a three star rating I would say that the value for money was good. However I would note that the hotel is less suited to the older person as it is fairly high up in the mountain & therefore a good 20 minute walk uphill from Limone, however there is a minibus service available up to around 6 pm at night (16 seats available).Views from the hotel are stunning, although some rooms may have better views than others. As for the area itself, it is very beautiful. I found Limone a great place to be based, with a wide variety of shops and places to eat, as well as a good ferry service to nearby towns."

"We had read reviews on this hotel some good, some worrying. On review recommendations we booked a superior room. From our point of view the room was excellent with air conditioning, hairdryer, tea making facilities, fridge, balcony with amazing views and was nicely furnished. The room was beautifully clean and for a 3* hotel we thought it amazing. Food was buffet style and we gorged on tasty food every evening. Would not hesitate to recommend it to other people. We did hear that the basic rooms are small and have no air conditioning. Also the Cristina is set in a high position, so walking up in heat would be no fun, but there is a free mini bus service which we used. Hotel rules say no noise in or around rooms after 10pm, which suited us."

"Hotel Cristina enjoys a fabulous location overlooking Lake Garda, it's just a pity that the staff in reception or the restaurant aren't particularly friendly or helpful, this hotel should sharpen up its act as the location is superb - much better than more luxurious hotels in the area. We were warned that there were a "few steps", this was an understatement, the hotel should be described as multi split level - steps to reception, steps to the pool, steps from the bar/restaurant area to the room - the lift is v small and was often out of order. Definitely not suitable for older persons or anyone having to cart baby, buggy, changing bag etc unless you're hoping for a workout on your holiday. It's also disapppointing that there was no offer of help from the reception staff with our bags - until my companion waved â¬10 at them - this rose to â¬15 to move 2 cases and get a bar of soap from the maid! Food - breakfast is okay, selction of cereals and 2 or 3 types of bread along with some German sausages and runny scrambled egg - juice or coffee is from a machine! The layout isn't particularly friendly ie bread on one table, butter on another, jam on yet another - so there's quite a bit of running around to do before you sit down to eat. Dinner was disappointing, most of the meals were lukewarm and very much what you would expect of catering for the masses - the salad bar was quite good though. Got bored eating in the hotel and ventured to a couple of cafes in Limone to get some 'real' food. Room - our original room was small despite paying £100 for a superior room, asked to move to a larger room and were shown a panoramic room (had bath and more floor space) however the room was not available until the next day, then when we did move it wasn't the room we had been shown but a smaller version of it, this cost us â¬100 which was steep on top of what we had already paid. We had to pay heavily to get help with moving our bags from one room to the other. Drop Off / Pick Up for some reason Crystal Holidays don't drop off or pick you up at the door, they leave you some distance from the main reception. We had a similar problem when we went on excursions, we had to meet the coach at the bottom of the hill and this is where it dropped us at the end of the day when we were tired and hot and in a rush to meet the hotel's deadline for dinner. Little things like this make a big difference, a fellow guest asked the tour guide to ask the driver to take us up the hill but she refused saying it was more than her job's worth. Would recommend Lake Garda but apart from the stunning view the Cristina has little to offer."
