Hotel Garni Corona
10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
Recommended, good location
"Good quality rooms, quite spacious. We paid 140 euro (2 adult & 2 children inc. breakfast). They cleaned and changed sheets/towels daily. Very friendly and helpful owners/staff. Right on the square, so a little noisy until around 11:30pm. No aircon so you have to leave the windows open. Very handy location for everything and of course an excellent view. Drinks & restaurants in the square are pricey, try the back streets. Menaggio is a nice town in a good location. Varenna across the Lake is highly recommended for a visit. Personally I think Bellagio is over-rated and full of day-trippers buying over-priced gifts."

"My wife and I spent 3 nights in Menaggio staying at the Garni Corona Hotel. This is a small family operated Hotel abitting the piazza and lake. The Hotel is immaculate and clean. Rooms were large and we had a balcony facing the lake. It is certainly worth payinga little extra for a lake view. Breakfast was included. The breakfast was also good with a wide variety of food.
You could not ask for a better position or Hotel. We paid 90Euro per night which was cheap compared to what else was around.

"Stayed with Garni Corona one night in the midst of a cycletour. Facing a large climb at end of the day, decided to look around Mennagio to check what budget hotels existed. Figured, since I was sitting in the piazza, I would check out the hotel with a nice view right in front of me. I first met their dog who was very welcoming, and in finding the price very reasonable, sent my girlfriend in to decide and find what I figured would be a back room. Imagine my delight seeing her wave to me from one of the two balcony'd lake view rooms. Was simple but very nice, the view was just amazing, very clean and friendly. Highly recommended."

"We can only re-iterate the reviews about this hotel. The location is brilliant - right in the middle of Menaggio overlooking the lake.
Price is reasonable considering the position.
It hasn't got a bar but there is one right next door -Cafe de Pess.
Plenty of eating places around.
It is deceptive that the restaurant at the front is called Hotel Corona Ristorante but is not part of the hotel and the food, whilst good, is overpriced and you don't get much (the more you pay the less you get!). The family are very helpful and reply quickly to e-mails.
We did find a delightful little bar - the Chic & Freak - with a balcony over the lake. Snacks available all day at very reasonable prices. We had a very enjoyable evening when there was a Jazz Concert on."

"If you fancy a holiday by Lake Como stay in the middle, at its most spectacular, where the lake forks out into two branches. There, three towns form a triangle: Bellagio (very touristy and busy), Varenna (beautiful but on the hilly side) and Menaggio with its enchanting square by the lake (Piazza Garibaldi), reminiscent of a scene from the opera âDon Pasqualeâ. Thanks to reviews from Tripadvisor we chose Hotel Garni Corona in Menaggio for our May 2008 vacation. Our ample room opened onto a terrace in full view of the lake and the towns mentioned above, which we visited using the frequent ferries nearby. This economic boutique hotel was immaculatly clean and breakfast a feast. Its elegant manager, Manuela, and her enchanting family did everything possible to make our stay in Como a memorable one. We wouldnât stay anywhere else on our next visit to the area.

Great breakfast and view
"The staff were friendly and welcoming. We were able to check in early
and had a room with 2 balconies and a great view. The towels were thin but of waffle type, perfectly adequate and we didnt need to use the one we had brought with us. The breakfast was great: pain o chocolat, croisssants, yoghurt, granola, muesli, meat, cheese, bread.
To drink tea, coffee, cappuchino, hot chocolate and fruit juice. The room was furnished simply, the shower was fine. This is a small family run hotel and we would be happy to return."

"Stayed here because I wanted to be in one of the three villages and with a month's notice this is all I could book anywhere. Cost 73 E for a double with an average room but with great view looking over lake. Quiet and central. People nice and breakfast buffet good. Good for price but towells very thin! Recoomend for position and price."

"We stayed here in September 2005. The hotel was clean, friendly, one of the cheapest in Menaggio and it was central. A couple of rooms are on the seaside (have to ask for) and have a brilliant view to varenna and bellaggio. Furniture and the floor is a little bit old. The bathroom had newer shower. The breakfast (8.00-9:30) was extraordinary and had a class of its own.
We booked the hotel via email and get fast answers to our questions. Next year we will stay a little bit longer.
For a hotel with two stars it is upper class."

"We stayed here in June 2004. The hotel was clean, friendly and one of the cheapest in Menaggio. Ask for a room overlooking the lake and square if possible. Would definitely stay here again."

Hotel Garnia Corona
"We stayed in the Hotel Garnia Corona. It was basic but clean and firendly. Menaggio was a good base for activities around the lake. It is definitely worth the hike up to the Riffugio Menagio, as the views are amazing. Make sure you leave enough time to get down again before the sun sets!!"
