Absoluely incredible views!
"We had a room with a terrace and it was incredible. A very nice room with a view that is priceless! This is such a beautiful village and the hotel was everything we had hoped for and more. The location was perfect, close to the shops, restaurants and ferry stations."

Lovely Hotel in an Incredible Destination
"The lake and the village are the real stars in any visit to Bellagio, but the Hotel Metropole (not to be confused with the other hotel by the same name in the region) managed not to get in the way (a feat which is not to be underestimated). A happy mistake by the hotel in booking resulted in an upgrade to a suite with a private terrace overlooking the lake. Even, maybe especially, through October mist, this was a real treat. There was simply nothing to complain about here: The hotel was perfect, and very reasonably priced (of course, upgrades and off-season will do that). But even aside from the bargain, the rooms and bath were large, modern and comfortable. The location was unbeatable, right on the lake between the two boat docks. The restaurant, which also overlooks the lake, was above average, good for dinner(not great food, but not bad, and location, location, location), very good for breakfast. The staff in all aspects was excellent, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind. The advertised roof terrace, while open, is apparently not really used after summer, but was not really needed, either. Highly recommended."

"Bella, Bella Bellagio, indeed! Never were truer world spoken. Bella means "beautiful" and Lago means "Lake," so Bellagio means "beautiful lake," and it's so gorgeous! Bellagio is the nicest, cutest, prettiest town on the lake, and that's saying a lot. I stayed at the Hotel Metropole with a friend in Sept. 2005, for two nights (we wanted to stay for two years!). We were treated with respect and dignity, and the hotel staff was unbelievably friendly!! The room was spotlessly clean, and our terrace surpassed my wildest dreams--it was HUGE, and for such a tiny extra cost (I think $10/night more?). We couldn't get enough of the views from our terrace/balcony--especially at sunset. We never wanted to leave this hotel. The breakfast room has pretty views of the lake too--we loved everything. This is the ONLY hotel in Bellagio that is ON the lake, which is why I chose it. It's also the oldest hotel, I'm told, and has been perfectly kept-up. Nothing was in need of repair, and everything was charming, including the landings in the stairways, complete with antiques and oriental rugs. We loved everything about the town of Bellagio, with its cobblestone streets and friendly shop owners. Bellagio loves tourists and everything is open every day. There's only one shop with postcards--every other shop is full of pretty clothes, fine handicrafts, and the restaurants are delicious and charming. The hotel staff at the Metropole even helped us with transportation to our next stop (the Cinque Terre) and bent over backwards to make us happy. This hotel isn't expensive, but made us feel like we were at the Ritz! Every staff should treat its guests like this. We will return in a heartbeat--I can't wait to stay at the Metropole again! After exploring the rest of Lake Como and other towns and hotels, we felt very lucky, indeed, to have found the Hotel Metropole Bellagio."

Very Romantic, Like an Old Movie
"We had a third floor room with two balconies overlooking the Lake and the Town. Views to die for, and we felt as if we could set up permanent residence and stay forever. The restaurant is not good, awful in fact and should be avoided. The waiters at breakfast are often dirty and hungover, but apart from that the hotel is wonderful. Eat at the restaurant at the Hotel du Lac which is wonderful and the waiter is a charmer, or hike over the hill to Pescallo and eat over there at the beachside fish restaurant. Indulge in a spa day at the Hotel Villa Serebelloni, shop up the hill in town, and do not miss the daily special at the Trattoria San Giacomo. I had a pasta with fresh porcini mushrooms there that I can still taste. The desk help is very friendly and helped me with enough Italian to shop for a picnic at the Villa Melzi. Wonderful....."

The View Alone is Worth the Price of the Room !!
"First of all, Sara at the front desk is one of the most helpful and friendliest people on the planet and always greets you with a beautiful smile. We had on one of the rooms on the first floor with a patio terrace. The view of Lago di Como was sensational and you are absolutely right on the lakefront. You realize this is where you could easily spend the rest of your life !! The room was clean and it was also "huge". I mean you could have a party with 50 people, open up the doors to the terrace so your guests can walk out there and you wouldn't be cramped. For the price, with the view, there is no better deal in Bellagio. Don't forget to stop by Bellagiopoint internet cafe and winebar. The gentleman who runs it is named Bruno and he will offer you fabulous wines to taste as well as a delicious antipasto dish. Thank you Hotel Metropole....we will be back someday. "Right on the lake and a short walking distance from the boat landing. They even upgraded us to a lake view room. Hotel Metropole had the best breakfast (including eggs and fresh fruit) during our 10-day Italian vacation."

"A great location with lovely views of the lake. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parts of the hotel have been renovated so it is advisable to request one of the updated rooms. Buffet breakfast was fine with a good selection. Very handy for the ferries (& watching them coming & going!)."

little gem on the lake
"my husband and i have just returned from a nine night stay at the hotel metropole in bellagio, and we had a wonderful time. the hotel staff was very friendly, professional and helpful with questions, they were even nice enough to check the weather in switzerland for us. we were in room #453 and the view was spectacular. the breakfast at the hotel was absolutely delicious, and francesco the waiter was always so cheerfull he really started our day off right. we found the hotel to be clean and neat, we would definately recommend this hotel. we would also recommend eating at trattoria san giacomo, an excellent restaurant, serving absolutely wonderful food. this hotel and bellagio itself is a wonderful place for a vacation, the lake is breathtaking and all the other towns are just as wonderful."

Great location....but needs overhaul.
"We booked two rooms at the Metropole in August. Based on prior reviews, we knew there might be a few problems, so we were somewhat prepared. We booked directly through the hotel. Price was 140 euros....plus we decided on half board, for total of 170 euros. The location of the property is fabulous. It is the only hotel in Bellagio directly on the water. The views out the water front rooms are fantastic. It was fun seeing all of the various boats/ferries coming and going. It is close to all of the ferries, so easy to get to with luggage. (We came by train via Varenna, and took ferry over.) The breakfast was fine. Great melon. Coffee/capuccino came from a machine, but it was surprisingly good. The dining room could use a facelift...and could be cleaned up a bit. Our major complaint was the half-board dinner. We rated it among the worse meals of our 3 week European trip. The salad bar was good...but the entrees were all down hill. The fish was undercooked....when we complained, the waitstaff said they were sorry....but didn't offer to do anything about it. The desserts passable at best. It is possible that it was just the half-board food that was so bad -- we didn't chance it by ever ordering off the menu. Our room was probably the smallest in the hotel...difficult to move about...or find a place for luggage. Our friends' room was larger, and thus more comfortable. Because we were there in August, the rooms were quite hot (they get the full afternoon sun), and the fans weren't sufficient to cool things off. Bottom line is that the hotel has a fabulous location...but needs work - both with the building itself and with personnel to get a great rating from us for an August visit!"
