Suisse Hotel Bellevue

"We spent 3 days at Suisse Bellevue. It is located uphill, outside the Monterosso village. Very convenient if you arrive by car, because they have a very spacious parking in their garden, and a convenient shuttle bus to and from the village, running approx every hour and always in perfect time (we never used our own car during the 3 days, the shuttle takes less than 5 minutes). It is extremely quiet: the only road arriving to the hotel is a private one, so no traffic, and the train is not close. If you are looking for a nice, quiet place, far for the tourist mass, this place is for you. If you prefer 'action', choose another hotel, in the ancient part of Monterosso, or close to the beach. The garden offers a few spots where you can relax and hanging. Reception people are very nice, breakfast was good. We had a triple room, spacious and adequate for 3 people. The bathroom was ok, I think everything was renovated recently The price was 155 euros, including breakfast. The position is simply spectacular. Most of the rooms have a beautiful view over the sea and the 5 terre villages, and a small balcony. Unfortunately, when we booked the only triple available was on the back side, so no view at all. But we didn't spend a lot of time inside the room, in 5 terre you walk a lot, and at the end of the day we relaxed ourselves in the beautiful garden. So, I would recommend this hotel."

"Hotel Suisse Bellevue is one of the best hotels for the money we've stayed at in Italy. Clean, modern, quiet, friendly. The room was very large. The entire property looked fairly new - within 5 years or so. I was amazed at how quiet it was - a nice break from the tourist crowds below. The free shuttle ran like clockwork - sometimes the shuttle driver left a few minutes before scheduled departure. We walked down to the town a few times and it's a 10 or 15 minute walk. You wouldn't want to walk up however - it's pretty long and steep. We paid 128 euros per night for a double - inclusive of breakfast, service, tax, etc. The room had a small TV that had CNN international on it. We had our own balcony with an incredible view of the coastline. The property has several spots to just hang out and enjoy the view and relax. We plan to go back to this hotel again - it was great!"

"This is a wonderful hotel overlooking the coast and the five towns of Cinque Terra. The hotel and their staff were excellent. My only caution is that the hotel is way up the hill from the town. The shuttle runs every 45 minutes to an hour, but that sometimes is not convenient. If you are the type who likes to go out and return to your hotel regularly, you may want to stay in the town. If the shuttle is not an issue, or if you have your own vehicle, this is a wonderful place to stay. The view is spectacular."

Fantastic place and fair price
"I booked a room at Suisse Bellview six weeks in advance of our Sept 2006 trip, and chose it because some of the Rick Steve choices in old Monterossa were already booked, and the Porto Roco was too $$$. I was a little worried, as the Suisse Bellview website didn't have pics of the room interiors and that's often a bad sign. WOW! was I surprised. The room was great -- clean and modern in a northern European kind of way, and plenty of room. Best of all was the surprise -- we were on a waiting list for a sea view, and we got it. Our own balcony with a fantastic vista.
The location was great, and with the shuttle we didn't touch our rental car for the entire 3-night stay. Breakfasts were OK (hint -- if you're an American craving US coffee, order the cafe latte and just don't add the milk), the little bar was fine, and we were buying so much $5-$10 wine in town that we didn't even touch the minibar.
At around $400 Euros for three nights I couldn't ask for a better place!"

Exactly what we wanted.
"Stayed four nights, no complaints.
It is not in town, but the view is splendid from above town...probably best view in Monterosso. Also away from town and train noises. Kind of all by itself up on the hill overlooking town. Price very suitable for room and breakfast. Rooms are larger than a lot of small hotels in town.
The shuttle is great, goes about every hour, and really is good if you hike a lot and don't want to walk to the hotel. Also nice when you're full from dinner. Helpful staff, and the beach that is recommended by the hotel is nice also."

GREAT hotel in Monterosso
"I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a great place to stay in all of the Cinque Terre. I did a lot of research and found the nicest hotel (Porto Rocca) to be booked and a lot more expensive. The reason Porto Rocca is such an attractive hotel is the fact that it's above the town so that you get no noise from the trains and you can overlook all 5 of the villages. Belleview Suisse is VERY similar with the free shuttle running up to the hotel every hour (same exact van but with their name on the side) and great view. The hotel is 125 Euros/night vs. 280/night at P.R. and although it doesn't have a pool and I'm sure is not nearly as nice, most of the rooms have balcony's, AC, breakfast and the cheapest mini bar in the free world. They also have a small bar in the lobby. This is not a fancy hotel but definitely nice enough will clean bathrooms and showers and we found the staff outstanding and loved the view and the free hourly shuttle. You get plenty of walking in the C.T. and we loved how quiet it was up there."
