Fantastic Hotel Prestige

"The Hotel Prestige, is very new and the rooms and decor are all beautifully designed and presented to an immaculate standard. I went with two teenagers and we were all made to feel very welcome all the staff went out of their way to help us. The hotel is a bus ride out of Sorrento in the hills but there is a regular bus service whihc is easy to use and the stop is outside the hotel. The setting is beautiful and very peaceful after sightseeing trips to the likes of Pompei. The hotel did not yet have a pool, but is planning one which will really make this a first class visit. All the staff spoke excellent English and could not do enough for us, when our luggage was lost by the airline they rang up every day and made sure we got it back.

The breakfasts were fantastic again with wonderful service, they are not serving dinners yet but the hotel has an arrangement with a nearby restaurant that was very good. We would book this hotel again as it was one of the friedliest hotels I have ever stayed in."

"What can I say about the Prestige that has not been said in the previous reviews? Myself and my husband spent a week there recently and the only complaint that I can make is that it was too short a stay, we could have stayed for a month no problem. The owners, Nino and Lisa made us feel so welcome that it turned out to be one of the best holidays that we have ever had. After a fraught journey to Italy (a very early flight and airport delays) we arrived stressed and frazzled at the hotel only to be greeted by the lovely and gracious Lisa. The holiday got off to a great start when we were shown to a georgous bedroom with a huge balcony and views over Sorrento that were to die for. Things only got better from here as Lisa informed us that we were to come down to the bar when we were settled where a complementary glass of Prosecco was waiting for us. After a great nights sleep we went down for the fab breakfast. Tonino and Gaetano (their attention and friendliness was the perfect start to the day) took it in turn to serve breakfast and what a breakfast it is. Freshly squeezed orange juice, mineral water, juices, cereals, breads, fruit, hot and cold food the list goes on. The staff in this hotel really are exceptional. Graziana on reception has a smile that lights up the room, my husband said that he was going to steal her !!!!! Danilo, who does the night duty is charming and witty while Virginio is friendly, accomodating and full of information about the local area. As a previous reviewer said the hotel is a bit out of Sorrento but the local bus service, which is clean and cheap, stops right outside the door while the hotel also offers a complementary service to Sorrento 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening, also the fact that it is a bit out of the town makes it very relaxing. While the hotel does not have a restaurant we ate a few nights at the tratorria down the road and I have to disagree with a previous review that the food was hit and miss as we found it excellent and very cheap. The only complaint that I would make is that the portions are quite large. Try the Pizzas as they are made before your eyes and for starters the deep fried courgette flowers which are fabulous. In Sorrento if you want good fish go down to the Grande marina the restaurants all seem to be good if at times a bit pricey. The only one to avoid is the one with the pictures of Sophia Loren outside, the staff are really rude. Of course we went down the Amalfi coast which is breath taking if a little scary at times depending on the bus driver and don't miss going to Pompeii. It is really easy to get to, take the train from Sorrento and it stops about 100 yards from the entrance to pompeii. We also went into Naples for the day. Graziana advised us to take the ferry in as it only takes 30 minutes and it takes you right to the centre of Naples (check different companies as prices can vary). We loved Naples even if it is a little run down in parts. If you go there don't miss seeing the Veiled Christ, ask for directions in any tourist office, there are lots of them around. In Sorrento there are great views from the Foreigners Club and the food is not too badly priced. If you want a friendly greeting go to Taverna dell' 800 on Via Dell' Accademia where the food and drink are good and reasonably priced. For nice costume jewellery that won't break the bank go to Anna on Via Tasso. Lastly let me thank Marianna and Susy for keeping our bedroom spotless, it was a pleasure to come back to. Thanks again to all the staff at the Prestige for making our stay so enjoyable, I have everyones heads annoyed praising you. We even received an email on our return home from Nino and Lisa hoping that we had a safe journey home and wishing us well with our new house which we are building at the moment, now thats service. We are already looking forward to staying there again."

"My wife and I celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary at this new hotel (opened March of 08) and we can't say enough about how wonderful the time was. The staff was EXCEPTIONAL. The managers of the property, Nino and his wife Lisa were always warm and helpful. Both speak English (she is from Ireland if I remember correctly). They even surprised us on their beautiful patio with a bottle of champagne and a lovely fruit and gelato treat for our anniversary. If you want spectacular views of both the bay of Naples AND the other side of the peninsula overlooking the Positano area, the location is ideal. If you want to be walking distance from town, the Prestige isn't for you. However, they do offer a free shuttle to town 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening which worked fine for us. Also, the hotel is right on the local bus route so you can literally step outside and catch the bus to either side of the peninsula (Sorrento or Postiano) with no problem most anytime of the day.Though the hotel is on a fairly busy mountain road, this brand new hotel has made every effort to lock out the sound with sound-tite doors to the individual patios that face the road...and it is very effective. The only sound issues we had were those from internal noise. Because everything is tile, the hallways reverberate sound and the room doors are less sound-proofed...so that got a bit noisy at times. The rooms are relatively small, very comfortable and well appointed. If you go, be sure to introduce yourself to Totino (sp?)who is a part of the wait staff. He was simply wonderful. He was always kind, friendly and ready to help...I can't say enough about what he added to the experience...even, without our asking, bringing us cappuccino and pastries in the early afternoon when we had slept-in trying to adjust to the time change. The breakfast provided by the hotel was fantastic....lots of options and beautifully prepared. Apart from its distance to Sorrento, the only other potential downside for some is that there is only one restaurant (a typical Pizzeria) within walking distance of the hotel. But it had good food and an exceptional, casual outdoor patio with a view overlooking the bay and Mt. Vesuvius that was spectacular. We would go back to the Prestige again without hesitation."

"My partner and I recently stayed at Hotel Prestige and had a simply amazing stay. Set above Sorrento, nestled into the mountiantop overlooking both the Solerno Coast and Bay of Naples, this newly finished hotel is set apart from (a notch above) other hotels in the district by the staff.

The dedicated people who run this hotel genuinely care about their guests, a view voiced by the manager describing 'his guests as sacred', backed up by Lisa his wonderful director of operations.

On arrival we were met by Graziana, Tonino and the fabulous barman who served us a glass of prosecco and welcomed us warmly.

We stayed in a deluxe room with private balcony. The room was large, airy and had every mod-con needed for a comfortable stay including satellite tv, air-conditioning, wi-fi (also a laptop for use in lobby free of charge). The room and bathroom were spotless, and the shower head was the size of a dinner plate, delivering clean fresh water with excellent pressure and temperature control.

Breakfast is a highlight at Hotel Prestige, with a wide choice of local produce, freshly squeezed juice, mineral water, yoghurt, cereal, etc etc as well as hot dishes and the outstanding Tonino. Tonino's friendly personal service was attentive and a brilliant start to the day.

Although this hotel is set well out of Sorrento, the staff run a regular shuttle to and from Sorrento, allowing you to see the sites and escape the crowds. Regular public buses run to both the Amalfi Region (Positano, Amalfi etc) and to the Sorrento town centre; with bus stops for either direction directly outside the hotel ( a footstep away!). Complimentary parking is available for guests at the hotel (on site) but to be quite honest, once the swimming pool which we are told will open soon, many people will not want to leave this oasis of calm and serenity.

We were pleasantly surprised to see the hotel was exactly what was presented on the website, and the positive reviews were accurate. We cannot wait to return to a place where we were made to feel more like family, rather than guests."

"We found this hotel in the internet and stayed there for one week in June 2008. This is the ideal place to stay if you want to explore by car the Costa Amalfitana, Paestum, Pompei, Ercolaneo, Naples, Capri etc. etc.

The hotel is located in the hills above Sorrento with a unique position in between the Gulf of Naples and the Costa Amalfitana.

Excellent rooms, great service (the General Manager Signor Nino Toscano, his Irish wife and all the other professional staff are always available for competent advice), a buffett breakfast of outstanding quality make this hotel an ideal choice for a short or extended holiday in Italy´s province of Campania far away from the noise of Sorrento and yet close enough to all key sites to visit.

We can truly recommend this little gem as an outstanding hotel!!!"

"We stayed at Hotel Prestige for our anniversary trip and it far exceeded our expectations! We stayed in the least expensive room and it stil had a beautiful view of the bay and a lovely balcony. The staff is beyond compare: friendly, courteous, and helpful in every respect. Nino, the director, said, "The guests are sacred" and he means it! We felt as if the staff were our friends byt the end of our six night stay. Lisa at the front reception during the day is very professional and extremely helpful in arrainging trips and transfers up and down the mountain as well as suggesting things to see in the area. Don't let the distance from the center of Sorrento bother you - the staff have 3 times in the morning and 3 times in the evening they will take you up and down for the short ride to and from the hotel to the city center. The view from the hotel was breathtaking and it was so much more peaceful to stay up there rather than in the town itself. Graziana always had a warm smile and a friendly greeting every time she picked us up to take us back to the hotel. She truly loves her job. And Danilo, at the evening reception was always helpful for anything we needed. Don't skip the wonderful breakfasts by Gaetano and Tonino. They have usually created somethig wonderful that they can't wait for you to try and there's fresh squeezed orange juice every day. The hotel is decoreated wonderfully and our room was spacious. The chambermaids are always prompt and efficient. The beds are very comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were great too. One afternoon, we sat on the balcony and read and enjoyed the beautiful view. Virginio, our driver, was always cheerful to take us the short drive down the mountain and was a very helpful handyman around the hotel. If there was anything that needed done in our room (the hotel has a few American channels on the TV and we couldn't figure out how to use the english language button on the remote) it was always fixed promptly. There is a bus stop right outside the hotel door which is very convenient. Don't miss the ride on the bus along the Amalfi Coast - it's a must! And be certain to sit on the right side of the bus (as your facing the front of the bus) - that side has the best views on the way along the coast. And if you get a little car sick, try to sit at the front of the bus, that helps. The bus ride along the coast is very inexpensive. Take the bus to the city of Amalfi for lunch and then go on the Ravello for one of the most beautiful sights in the world - Villa Cimbrone. Don't miss it, it's fantastic! When you're in Sorrento, look for the lemon garden. Ask someone at the hotel, they can tell you where it is. It's right in the middle of the city but is a little oasis from the touristy bustle of the town. There is a tratorria right by the hotel that is very inexpensive but we didn't like the food very much - at least not the pasta, especially the mushroom pasta, stay away from that. The pizza is pretty good and the views are good too but the food is hit or miss. But there is a wonderful restaurant the hotel has an agreement with for evening meals. You can arrange a ride from the hotel to the restaurant at the front desk. All of the transfers up and down the mountain and to and from the restaurant are complimentary and again, the drivers are so eager to answer your questions about the area. We found a great restaurant very close to the hotel that we walked to (about a 10 minute walk) and we thought the food was absolutely wonderful as was the view. It's called Il Panorama. It's family owned and the prices are very reasonable. A bottle of their wine was 3 euro. By the time we had finished our meal it was very dark outside and the owner's daughter drove us back to the hotel - only about a two or three minute drive. I would definately recommend the Il Panorama. The owner also suggested a restaurant in town called Da Filipo and it too was really great. If you're looking for a hotel in Sorrento, Hotel Prestige is DEFINATELY to place for you! We would love to make a return visit."

"My husband and I spent five nights at the Hotel Prestige in Sorrento, Italy. We had been to Rome, Florence, and Venice and had stayed in four star hotels each night. The Hotel Presitge is the only hotel that exceeded the four star rating.
The Manager Nino was exceptional, even taking us to the train station himself on one of our excursions. Both Donilo and Grazianna at the hotel front desk were so knowledgeable in helping us plan our days and evenings. Tonino, Food and Beverage Manager anticipated our every desire and personally greeted us each morning with his delicious Mimosa's and chocolate crepes and many other delicasies included in the complimentary breakfast.
The Chambermaids were friendly and efficient, making sure that our room was always clean and ready for our evenings.
Everything about the Hotel Pestige was wonderful. Our balcony overlookingthe Mediterranean was everything they advertised and more. Thanks to everyone at the Hotel Prestige, our visit to Sorrento was by far the best. We will definately go back some day."
