"This hotel is one of the best I have ever stayed in ,the staff go above and beyond to help you very friendly especially Angelo ,Enrigo and Grazia they make you feel so special .The food was fantastic with a lot of choices .The room we were in although we didn’t get a balcony had wonderful views .The room was very clean but lacked drawer space and the TV didn’t show many English channels so no biggie really .Other than that I would highly recommend this hotel .You also get a courtesy bus into Sorrento that drops you by a little lemoncello bar and the hotel will book you trips around the bay if required .I would defiantly stay again"

"Recently returned from this hotel after a 5 day stay. Lovely staff, very welcoming with excellent food choice. Very good vegetarian menu. I had a large room with a balcony and sea view which was more than adequate. However I think the rooms are a little dated and could do with new decor and also require a hairdryer in the bathroom and a magnifying mirror. Perhaps some pictures on the walls? Excellent for a single traveller, and felt very safe. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean with very nice public areas and easy wifi. Both Sant Agnello and Sorrento are within walking distance."

"Further to my review about the Hotel Caravel. Since getting home we have been contacted by the hotel management and owners who it turns out were unaware of the problems which we had endured. They have been most apologetic about the events and have taken steps to correct them, so that they do not occur again.
It is good to see that they can admit that they got it wrong regarding ourselves and from the guarantees we have received, I feel sure that matters have been put right and feel that anyone going to the hotel in the future will find it a very pleasant experience and have a nice break. The hotel itself is a lovely location and will make a very pleasant stay.

Lovely hotel - Italian hospitality and charm

"My husband and I have just returned from the lovely hotel Caravel. The hotel is in a perfect location only 20 minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Sorrento. It is situated in a quiet tree-lined street, minutes from the Marinella beach, and the small selection of cafes and shops in Sant'Agnello itself.

The hotel is a delight. Nice quiet pool area, particuarly in the mornings. A little busier in the afternoons, when people were returning from trips. We had room 312 which was very clean, spacious and had a nice view of the mountains. It was also very peaceful, with no road noise. The beds were comfortable with crips white linen, changed regularly. Good size bathroom, with full bath, shower, loo, bidet and large wash basin - all immaculate. The easy to moderate air conditioning was a welcome addition.

During our stay we visited Naples, Capri, Positano and Rome. It was easy to travel independently, which we did for most excursions and cheaper! However, we chose the T Cook trip to Rome which was the easier hassle-free option. The trip was well organised and the air conditioned coach was comfortable. We will definitely be back for a short break to Rome, as a one day visit could only provide a flavour of all there is to see there - worth doing though, although better in cooler weather! We went to the theatra tasso in Sorrento one evening (again easier and cheaper to do this independently - just walk in and buy a ticket) and we enjoyed some Italian Operatta - you are welcomed with a glass of chilled Bellini which is a nice touch. Very enjoyable show, in comfortable air conditioned theatre. The Foreigners' Club is also worth a visit, although not to dine as food is mediocre. However, the views are spectacular from their terrace and there is live music most evenings, all for the price of a drink. Definitely worthwhile. The hotel operate a courtesy minibus during the morning and early part of the evening, which was very useful.

The owner and his staff at the Caravel were all first class. They clearly take a pride in looking after their guests. Luigi and the waiters in the restaurant were charming. Friendly, helpful and attentive. We are fussy about good food and found the food to be excellent, both at breakfast where there was always a good choice of fruit, juices, cereals, continental breads, croissants and cereals - including the best scrambled eggs I have ever tasted in a hotel! I would recommend the half board option, as restaurants in Sorrento were pricey and I doubt if we would have eaten better food. There were 4 courses each night, beginning with a salad bar incorporating italian antipasti specialities - griddled and marinted vegetables, olives, salad, fresh tomatoes, sea food etc. followed by 3 further courses - italian style. You would have to be very fussy and unadventurous if you could not find something to suit you - if you don't like trying different food and like chips with everything, stay at home!

All the staff, including Max in the bar, the concierge, Luigi and the waiters in the restaurant, and the lovely lady who cleaned our room deserve full credit for their hard work and friendly and helpful manner.

Thank you to everyone who made our stay so enjoyable."

"My sister and I had a most enjoyable stay at the Hotel Caravel. All the staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay special. The hotel is a delight lovely swimming pool (with orange trees) and outside places to sit and have a drink or lunch. From our balcony we could see the sea, the sunset, and Vesuvius."

"Food and accommodation out of this world, the staff are truly helpful and look after you personally. The pool environment and facilities are extremely attractive, however the pool could benefit from being tiled or cleaner. In general a thoroughly enjoyable trip accentuated by the meritorious efforts and endeavours of the whole hotel staff, benefitted subtley by the opulent nuances of quality and authenticity."

"We stayed here July 08 as my cousin was getting married and this was officially her hen holiday. There were quite a few of us, and whilst this is by no means a hen or stag destination - far too classy - it was just what we wanted as none of us were interested in a noisy holiday. The hotel were fantastic even prior to our stay, they arranged our transfer and everything went smoothly.
We got an amazing deal booking direct with the hotel, so amazing that we thought it was a mistake. Having visited Sorrento before I knew what to expect but I had not stayed in this particular hotel. The rooms were clean, modern and tidy. All the public areas were of a very high standard, and the pool area was just fantastic.
I'm sure the hotel staff will remember us as we were the crazy bunch that dressed up in fancy dress on one of the nights and headed into town - we went as various professionals - a nurse, doctor, maid, police officer, hula dancer, chef etc and it went down a storm!
Special mention to Max behind the bar who was so helpful and lovely, constantly waited on us and put up with our relentless teasing - ge is a credit to the hotel as are all the staff.
It is a slight distance - approx a 15-20 minute brisk walk into Sorrento, but a beautiful walk nonetheless and I'm sure the price we got the hotel for is reflected in this. On the plus side St.Agnello is a lovely peaceful area and we loved it.

Stay here - you will not be disappointed. Alot of our group are hoping to go back in 2010 and will be staying there."

"We just returned last night from our holiday in Sorrento. We stayed at the Hotel Caravel and found it to be a lovely hotel. The room was small but adequate, the bed was a very good size. Most of all it was spotlessly clean and cleaned each day. i found the hand towels very thin but this is probably an Italian thing. The air conditioning was a great bonus you would really need this after a day out and about. We were half board and were delighted with the food, there was always something to suit us and it was a great start to the day getting our breakfast. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. There was a lovely relaxed air about the place. The pool area was very clean too and very comfortable sunbeds. It takes about 20 minutes to walk into Sorrento but it was a lovely walk and of course you could use the courtsey bus which went a few times each day. The hotel is also only a short walk from the local bus which runs frequently. I would love to return to this hotel in the future.

We were celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary so this was a special trip and a dream come true.

Thank you all for a very memorable holiday.

Regards
Ber and John Ireland"

"My wife and I stayed at this hotel on the basis of some past reviews on this site. Both of us enjoyed our stay and found the hotel to be very good value for money. All the staff were polite and helpful. However it would have been helpful to have more information about the easiest and most cost effective way to get to the various historical/well known sites, such as Vesuvius and Pompeii.
The room we stayed in was of a decent size and the air conditioning was very efficient. We stayed on a half-board basis and found both breakfast and evening meals generally provided a good selection and were of a high standard:perhaps the choice of vegetarian meals could be increased.
Both my wife and I would love to return to this hotel in the future."

"This was our 7th time staying at the hotel, after all the years that we have been going from the very first time to our latest visit it has been truely superb each time. There have been subtle changes for the good as the staff at the hotel always put you first to cater for all your needs. It is an ideal base to visit all the attractions in the surrounding area. The rooms are clean and comfortable with maid service each day. The pool area is nice and relaxing and very rarely busy and you don't have to fight for a sunbed! There is an excellent choice of menu each night catering for all tastes, we can certainly recommend the lemon profiteroles and Falanghina wine!! Lunchtime snacks are readily available with a vaired choice. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel to anybody. Looking forward to returning next year."

"A very nice quiet hotel, good sized rooms, comfortable public areas, great pool and good breakfast although scrambled eggs every day. Rooms clean and spacious with small balcony and good mini bar

About 20 minutes walks to Sorrento. The hotel runs free bus but you need to book and it doesnt go to centre of Sorrento.A taxi to Sorrento was about 18 euros. Had a nice meal in Ciao Toto just up the road from hotel, good food but like everywhere in Italy a bit pricey.
Loved the area and would go back to this hotel."
