"Fantastic hotel, rooms clean, all staff very friendly and helpful, situated on a long hill which could prove tricky for those unable to walk well or who get breathless easily , we had both in our party but taking it slowly with several stops they were able to manage.the views from the hotel were fabulous and well worth the extra for a balcony ,sorrento town has lots of shops to browse beautiful views and the surrounding area eg Pompeii and herculaneum are easily accessible from the bus and train station in the town centre. Definitely go there again and recommend it to others."

Husband and I spent two weeks at this lo...
"Husband and I spent two weeks at this lovely hotel and really enjoyed our holiday. We booked a sea view with balcony which was on the 4th floor overlooking Marina Grande, the Bay of Naples and out to Mt Vesuvius. The room was a good size with large bathroom with bath and shower over the bath. Towels changed daily and bed every other day. So we were very happy with our room. The swimming pool, sun beds and relaxing areas are on the 7th/8th floor and really lovely. There is also a restaurant on this floor serving a good selection and variety of food at lunchtime. Breakfast is buffet style and has a good selection. You can also order eggs, boiled, poached scrambled etc. all freshly cooked. Dinner in the evening is Waiter serviced and there if a reasonable variety to choose from. My husband loves fish so he was quite happy with the fish dishes. There was also at least one meat dish every evening, e.g. duck, turkey beef, veal, etc. They also had a vegetarian and a Neapolitan dish and loads of pasta. We did hear people complaining about the lack of choices available but this hotel are catering for all nationalities and we had no complaints. Possibly main course dishes are not as large as you would serve at home but the first course is the same size and there is a salad bar. Waiters are happy to supply additional rolls, butter or potatoes if requested. Waiters are very kind and helpful and will go out of their way to make sure your happy. Head waiter is lovely. We had no complaints about the meals but you can also swap dinner for lunch which we did a couple of times and went into Sorrento for dinner. Lots of lovely restaurants for food and prices are very reasonable if you shop about. We had fab pizzas in La Lanterna in the historical centre (the drains) which was lovely and very reasonably priced. There is a little mini market about fifty yards down and across the road which sells water, wines, soft drinks, etc etc. Chilled spumante is 2.5 euros per bottle. Mini bar prices are quite expensive. 3 euros for a small water. 1 euro for litre and half in this little shop. We went on several excursions, Pompeii, Amalfi Drive and Capri which were all wonderful. We also did the walkabout on the Sunday with the Thompsons rep which was really good and we found loads of places we probably wouldn't have found on our own. All in all we had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed staying at the Bristol. If/When we ever go back to Sorrento we would probably stay here again. Only down side is the very busy road and only one small narrow pavement. Trying to cross was a nightmare. Thomsons rep advised just stepping onto the crossing and the cars would stop, if not you could stand there all day but we didn't take this chance and just stood till there was a gap in the traffic. However once we closed our balcony doors we didn't hear the traffic noise at all."

We were told this was a four star hotel ...
"We were told this was a four star hotel and in our opinion they earned every single star. The Hotel is almost at the top of a steep winding road, as I have a breathing problem, this concerned me, but later we walked down the hill into Sorrento and walked back again and it wasn't as bad as I first thought and was a very pleasant walk which took about 15 minutes. As we booked a room with a view, our room was almost at the top of the hotel, which took two lifts to get there. On reaching our room the balcony doors were opened for us and sure enough there was a view to die for. It was amazing! There were 2 sun beds on the balcony with a table and chairs as well. The room was spacious, air conditioned and very clean but no coffee or tea making facilities. The swimming pool was a good size with plenty of sun beds. The umbrellas were only down one side of the pool so as not to block the view but I feel they could have done with a few more. There was also an eating area near the pool so you didn't have to venture far for a snack etc. The views from the terraces were to die for, with plenty of areas to sit and relax. For the more energetic there was a disco. There was a good choice on the menus, both for breakfast and for the evening meal and a real treat was when we were serenaded at our table one evening. For us the views made this hotel. It was a very enjoyable experience all round and I can highly recommend it. "

We got an excellent deal so it was good ...
"We got an excellent deal so it was good value however the food - especially evening meal was terrible so we would always swap for lunch which was freshly cooked rather than mass cooked canteen style catering. NOT 5 star as advertised by Thomsonâs. Pool lovely and some nice patios. Childrenâs play area not worth talking about. Staff OTT quite false in friendliness. Food for Italy dreadful. Room nice - but some awful at back with view of cliffs. Bar expensive but worth it for the outside views."

"We have just returned from a great honeymoon where we satyed at the Bristol Hotal with our daughter. We could not have picked a more suitable location being only a 10minute walk from Sorrentos main square. The view from our balcony was amazing with a clear view of sea, cliffs, mount vesuvius and Capri. The service and cleanliness at the hotel was second to none and I must say a special hi to Mimmo at the pool bar who looked after us! The evening meal at the Bristol was cuisine! We had planned to eat out most nights but quickly changed our minds when we realised the taste and quality of the food in this hotel. To all who work at this great hotel thanks for helping to make our honeymoon a dream come true! I would recommend this a superb hotel of choice to anyone planning a holiday in Sorrento. If I had to find fault it would be the tea and coffee at breakfast. The tea was not hot enough and the coffee was awful! Just bring a jar of your favourite brands and all will be perfect! The perfect Sorrento location
"From Vincent and Carol McDonagh, Grimsby, England We have recently returned from 11 nights at the Hotel Bristol in early May and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. The position of the hotel is superb as is the service and friendliness of the staff. The food was pretty good too. The big factors for us were the superb view, the relaxing atmosphere and everyone being so helpful. We both enjoyed the dinner menus and there was plenty of choice at breakfast. Another plus is that there was no rush for sunbeds which are free as are the safety deposit boxes in the rooms. The only minor criticism we have is that the bathrooms could so with some updating, but apart from that everything was just fine. We shall definitely return."

"Stayed at the Bristol during the second week of our honeymoon. On arrival we received champagne in our room. Our room was spotlessly clean. The view from our balcony was amazing. The view from the roof top swiming pool and lounge area was fantastic. Each night we enjoyed beautiful meals with excellent service. The variety of food at dinner was excellant. I ate meals that i had never tried before. The staff throughout the hotel were very friendly and attentive. The roof top bar was also stunning with live music each night. Lunch time menu was very Italian and reasonably priced. A five minute walk will take you into the town. The atmosphere in the town was fantastic. Very friendly locals. Our only regret was that we did not spend our entire honeymoon here. Absolutley incredible."

"Went to this hotel with very high expectations, in large part due to many of the reviews on this web-site. It certainly does have breathtaking views, the staff are excellent and the pool/garden area is lovely. However, we were given an extremely poor room on the first floor overlooking the main road which was very noisy. The room was very poorly furnished and decorated - more like a room in a hostel. Were able to get moved the next morning to a more pleasant room at the back of the hotel but it wasn't the ideal start to the holiday. Other couples on the same holiday was similarly disappointed in their room. The most disappointing aspect of this hotel was the food which was very average - there was a poor selection to choose from, the food was usually over cooked and had obviously been sitting for some time before being served. Not a four star hotel - would choose somewhere else if you are looking for good quality food and better quality rooms."

Fantastic Honeymoon with breathtaking views
"Having spent 4 days packing in as much as we could in Rome, we were looking forward to a nice relaxing 10 days to complete our Honeymoon. The Hotel Bristol delivered exactly that. There are breathtaking views across the bay of Naples and Vesuivius out of almost every window (see the view from the restaurant at breakfast!). The hotel is built into the side of the cliff so the pool and lunch bar are on the roof. The hotel was busy but the staff treated us like we were the most important guests in the hotel (which I'm sure everyone thinks the same). They were superb throughout the hotel. The room was very clean and the balcony gave us wonderful views of the bay and Sorrento below. The hotel bar is excellent with a real old school charm, serving great classic cocktails. We even indulged in a day out on the hotel owners speedboat to Capri, which was a fantastic and unforgettable day. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for something extra and special for a holiday or Honeymoon. The only thing I would be aware of is getting a room on the higher floors away from the traffic noise and avoid the new annex as its not as nice as the main part of the hotel."

Excellent View and Location
"We stayed for 7 glorious days in the Bristol. The room had a magnificent view of Sorrento, the Grand Marina, the bay of Naples, surrounding hills and (Vesivio) spelling?, in the distance. The room was well appointed with all the usual facilities one would expect in a 4 star Hotel. It was about 10 mins walk from Tasso Square - the centre of Sorrento. In terms of view and location I thought it was without equal in Sorrento. The Hotel facilities were good. The dining room, pool area and sun terrace all share those same breath taking views. The food was good, but not exceptional and always well presented. The service was certainly upto 4 star standard I thought. The staff were always friendly, attentive and helpful. Most staff had excellent English. As a base for a holiday in the Bay of Naples this Hotel was ideal. We took direct Ferries to the islands of Capri and Iascia. We also did the tours of the Amalfi coast and Pompei. All of these tours I thought were good. One could be equally happy lazying around the pool or stolling in the magnicent, citrus sented, terraced gardens. I am always very careful about money and I found this Hotel to be good value. I would be surprised if any Trip Advisor reader would not find this Hotel satisfactory. Happy holidays!!!"

Beautiful views and perfect location!
"Left a hectic Rome and spent (3) relaxing days in Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast....... the Bristol was the perfect hotel and location! We had magnificent views, a large room in a quiet clean hotel. The staff, in particular the maitre de, were extremly polite, friendly and informative. You are a short walk down into a bustling seaport town with a wide range of restaurants and shops. The location for "branching out" was perfect. We went to Capri, Pompei and a beautiful, adventurous drive along the Amalfi Coast. I would go back tommorow and would make the Bristol my home base!"

Great value, Grand View
"The Bristol met or exceeded all of my expectations. Other reviewers have already mentioned the view and it is stunning. The rooms (I was on the 7th floor) have full views of the Gulf of Naples, Vesuvius and the actual town of Sorrento. The balcony was very large and it was a real pleasure to greet the sunrise every morning. The Hotel is a 10 minute walk to town that my 82 year old mother was capable of making. There is also bus service for 1 euro. I was happy I chose a location slightly out of town because the town is BUSY. My room was comfortable and well appointed (for Europe). The hotel has many public rooms, including several bars, each with its own stunning view. Some have complained about the buffet breakfast, but I thought it was as good as any other 4 star hotel I've stayed at. I can't comment on the dinners as we didn't dine in. The hotel recommended several restaurants in town. Trattoria Antica was outstanding. The staff at the Bristol seem somewhat reserved at first, but are very gracious. If management reads these reviews I would like to mention Ercole who was very helpful. From my first contact with them by e-mail, to a sad goodbye, the staff consistently provided outstanding service. Two examples would be: 1.) offering to arrange a transfer from Naples airport to the hotel in a chauffeur driven Mercedes Limo (excellent service and value). 2.) Knowing exactly when we were leaving and having the bellman show up at our rooms before check out at exactly the right time without our asking. Are they mind readers? In a word: outstanding!"
