Way Above Expectations!
"My girlfriend and I came to this hotel for two weeks mid-May after hearing nothing but good things on tripadvisor.com, and I can honestly say they were all right, it's a great hotel!
We hadn't been to Greece before and were told to expect basic accommodation. Expecting that, we were pleased with the rooms. They are a nice size with comfy beds, but above all the rooms are clean!
One problem we had was that it was very cold the first few nights. Obviously in the hot summer months this is good as the room isn't insulated, but in mid-May it's a bit chillier. Don't let this put you off though.
Moving on to the staff of the hotel, they were by far one of the best things about it. They (and, it seems, Greek people in general) are very friendly, and the staff always welcomed us with a smile and a quick chat.
The cleaners did the room every day and we had clean towels each day too. They also let you lie in if you're too tired to get up!
Next... the location of the hotel. Perfect! It's literally on the beach, you step out of the back doors and your feet find the sand immediately. And it's a great beach, not too big.
The hotel is off the main road which is a one minute walk away. There is a bus stop right at the main road which couldn't be handier, giving you great access into the town or to the main beach on the island.
The food in the restaurant is top notch. They have a great selection at an average price (average for the island, ie cheap!), we ate there a few nights on our holiday.
The bar next to the restaurant is pleasant too, with plenty of comfy chairs and sofas for you to sit and relax before or after your meal.
To sum up, this holiday was my best yet. The island itself is a superb place, but the fact that the hotel stay was very pleasant and hassle-free added to the enjoyment. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice relaxing holiday, but within easy reaching distance of the lively town."

Great food & location
"Great food at this hotel at a reasonable price. Ideal location if you are a beach lover. Rooms are basic but cleaned daily. Most of the staff are friendly but some need a little more encouragement."

"Staff could not be more helpful. Our third visit was a delight in every respect. Food in hotel very acceptable, and very modestly priced. The location is exceptional for a beach-side venue - very peaceful. No late night shennannigins. Astoria Hotel great for pre-dinner cocktail. A good welcome from Harry."

"Everything I read about this hotel seemed to be too good to be true... BUT it is indeed a small paradise! The hotel location is right on the beach. A beautiful sandy beach - very clean. The water is safe for bathing and very calm waters. The Hotel is clean, with friendly staff. The rooms are the usual holiday rooms found in Greece, basic but comfortable. The hotel communal rooms are light airy and very comfortable. The atmosphere is quiet, genteel and laid back. The nightlife is centered around good food and wine and your own company - so if you're looking to get away from it all - this is the place to be. There are 2 fantastic tavernas within a 2 minute walk - both serving fab food. Average dinner price 20 euros for 2 courses including wine. The hotel food is good too and reasonably similar prices. Although the menu is not as extensive as other tavernas. This holiday is a must if you want to just sit back and relax. We went on the first day of the season when it was just opened and they say that this is the best time to go if you want it really quiet (early May). Apparently it does get busy during July and August but I guess the atmosphere would be just as great. Skiathos itself is lovely but the island is small so for a 2 week holiday some people may find there just isn't enough sightseeing to be done or enough other activities. Life centres mainly on eating, drinking and lazing around!"

Troulos Bay Hotel Is Crap!
"I am not happy with the guy from Manchestersaying that the Troulos Bay hotel staff are helpful and attentive because THEY ARE NOT AT ALL.The Management of the hotel is CRAP. They even keep control of the remote control of the TV hidden behind the desk.Location ok food/price in the hotel average :you can find more choice and better price outside.Staff at desk and at restaurant of the hotel used only at breakfast is VERY MISERABLE. They also argued between themself on how to use the remote control of the TV in front of customer, including myself who tried without succes to show how to use it to get satellite chanel. Music piped all day round without access to TV. please do not misunderstand: TV is not all for me: I was just trying to see on CNN or BBC the exchange rate of the pound towards Euro.....! but I have given up and went to the Astoria hotel just in front across the main roadwith free access of bar / TV / pool even without being a guest !!!!! DEFINITIVELY THEY WILL NOT SEE US BACK AT THE TROULOS BAY HOTEL BECAUSE THE STAFF MANAGEMENT IS **** Sincerely.A frequent flyer and traveller long/shor/medium haul since 1978."

Please keep this a secret
"We have just booked for our 4th visit to The Troulos Bay Hotel, in all or years of travel in Europe, Africa and North and South America this is the best!. It is just so relaxing, on a wonderful small beautiful golden sand beach. The staff are great, Chrissie, the receptionist is the real boss, Harry, one of the waiters can be grumpy but is really a nice bloke and the two managers will do anything to help. The bar is very friendly at night and the food is GREEK, a wonderful change from other big, brash, all inclusive (boring trash) hotels. There is a desperate need for a new toaster and drinkable coffee at breakfast but this is a small price to pay for paradise. Please don't go. Save it for us !"

More of the same
"This is our 4th year and we can only endorse all the positive comments. If you want a quite and relaxing beach holiday this is the place to go.
One item worth noting is the fantastic walking. Get talking to the two brothers and they will help you find some wonderful walks that take you into some stunning scenery.
If you have young teenage children - don't worry. Make a point of introducing them to other teenage children at the hotel (and there will be some) and then just forget about them."

Just returned from our third stay on the...
"Just returned from our third stay on the beautiful island of Skiathos. This is the first time we have stayed at the hotel, although we have eaten there in previous holidays.
The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and helpful. We were made to feel very welcome and contrary to some reports about breakfast we enjoyed the selection on offer.
Basically every day there was a choice of muesli or cornflakes, peaches and Greek yoghurt and honey. Also cheese and ham and boiled eggs available every day. There was a rotation of scrambled egg and thin strips of smokey bacon, beans, croissants, and sweet bread. Fruit juice, tea and coffee also on tap. Sitting in the comfortable dining area looking out at the blue Aegean Sea was a wonderful start to each day.
The only criticism I would have of evening dining is that the selection of wine is limited and no house wine is on offer so prices start at 9 Euros. Having said that the food was simple but excellent and good value for money.
Restaurants we tried again this year and would recommend are:
Nector and Ambrosia (Next to bus stop 19 up a steep flight of steps). Wonderful choice of traditional Greek dishes and served by waitresses in Greek costume. Had three excellent meals there all reasonably priced.
Bonaparte - in the centre down Evangelista Street on the right. English speaking waiters from Sweden. Food was fantastic and well presented although a little bit more expensive than the others, well worth it.
Pandarosi - At the crossroads in Troulos. What can I say? For 8.50 Euros we had a simple but excellent meal and were plied with drinks all night which were included in the price! We have eaten here several times over the years and the atmosphere is friendly and the service good. Their Lamb Kleftico was fantastic and they have now added Souvlaki to the special menu choice as well.
Snack bar on Troulos beach at the far end of the beach do a great Greek salad and the hotel also do cheese pies for snacks at lunch time.
We hired a quad bike for the first time which I was quite worried about, but it turned out to be the best thing we have done on holiday. It was an automatic four wheel drive and took us all over the island to areas we would never have seen.
We visited Kastro which is breathtaking and also the hidden beach near Koukanaries. We also went to the dogs home three times and took out six dogs for two hour walks which we really enjoyed. The bike cost 75 Euros for three days which included an excess waiver which we thought was worth it for peace of mind. Crash helmets were provided and the bike was great for the steep hills on the north side of the island.
Would recommend the lazy days at sea boat trip which goes out from Troulos beach at 10am every day except Friday and Sunday and costs 10 Euros. We have done this trip three times now and itâs a great day out with the chance to visit secluded beaches for swimming and a stop for lunch.
We previously have stayed at Byzantium which was great and Maria Yannis which was also good. But for location and the comfort of the lounge it has got to be the hotel. We canât wait to go back!"
