We Loved Sunset / noula Apartments.
"We love Skiathos, beautiful beaches, plenty of restaurants and bars in the town if you like the livelier side. But what we like is the quieter koukonaires with tavernas just a stroll away from the sunset apartments. they where ideal for what we needed, lovely and clean with fresh towels and bed linen, basic kitchen with kettle large fridge,We stayed here 2 years ago enjoyed it so much we returned with friends in june 2010and had another fantastic holiday. Vass and George were very friendly and attentive to anything we needed and also kept the gardens, bar, pool area spotless and clean.. Chef also called Vass did a wonderful job at the bar and in the kitchen, we had a few meals at the taverna that we really enjoyed. While we were drinking at the bar Vass made us some special snacks which just made our day.everyone at sunset was so nice we wished we had stayed for two weeks. So thankyou so much to you all for making our stay so special. and yes we will be staying again. Just not this year but real soon."

Great Holiday Apartments
"Lovely location, set back from coastal road. Great pool, cleaned scrupulously every evening of any stray leaf or insect! Good bar and taverna.....food was simple, well cooked, very handy if you did not want to go "out" for a meal. Owners, very helpful and friendly.
Only downsize - for those with walking difficulties or the infirm; the mezzanine "bedroom". Nine steep wooden steps up to the bed and a sloping ceiling, in certain apartments, so if that would be a problem, then do check on booking."

"Jjust returned from the Sunset Apts, and I would recommend them to anyone. We have visited a number of Greek islands in the past and have been to Skiathos previously, so we know what to expect from Greek apartments. These are very clean and well looked after. Linen and towels are changed regulary, and the rooms are cleaned every couple of days. I have seen a comment re no shower curtain or no wall fixing for the shower head. This is standard in Greek apartments as they are basically a wet room as opposed to a shower cubicle.
The apartmentsare situated just of the main road but are far enough away not to be bothered by road noise. there is a great pool and pool bar, which at night transfroms into a restaurant. There are a number of restaurants and bars nearby, and a supermarket stands just outside the apartments. Beware most items in Greek supermarkets do not compare in price to back home. This is a great place to stay."

Sunset Apartments Koukounaries
"What a lovely place to stay!!
The apartments are cleaned three times a week with the linen changed twice a week.
The Proprietor Vassili and his brother George, where very approachable and helpful if there were any problems, they were two very nice guys. Vassili the Chef/Barman was a real character too, he made some very very good cocktails!! The service they provided was excellent, in particular the quality of their bar snacks and taverna food was very good, the buffet BBQ on Friday evenings was excellent. The pool area and the gardens are looked after and cleaned every day the pool is absolutely brilliant, it was quiet during the day if you needed to chill out.
The Sunset is ideally situated for Mandraki and Elias Beaches (20mins walk), two very beautiful beaches. As well as Eleni beach which has the most beautiful sunset on the Island, ideal for the romantics. Also literally 5 mins to Koukounaries beach which is one of the most popular beaches on the Island, with both big Banana and little Banana beaches within 15mins walk. there are a number of excellent tavernas and retaurants within 5mins walk of the apartments, particularly going towards Koukounaries.
The apartments are in between two bus stops 23 and 24 great for getting around the different resorts of the island and only 20mins on the bus to Skiathos Town and the hustle and bustle of its vibrant nightlife which caters for every taste possible.
We were their for 2 weeks, which flew by, and had a wonderful time with our fellow travellers.
I would just like to give a big thank you to all the staff at the Sunset apartments for making our stay such a memorable one ."

idyllic poolside apartments in a good location.
"I have just spent a week at the Sunset / Noula apartments with my young family and have found it an excellent holiday all round. The pool is very clean with lots of sunbeds and a good shallow area sloping to deep. The poolside bar serves a good quality and varied range of food all day, salads, omelets etc and there is also a barbecue every Friday which was good. Three friendly brothers run the apartments which are well maintained and were kept clean during your stay, a charge of 5 euro's per day was made for the optional (but required) air conditioning which I thought was reasonable
The apartments are 100m from a large well stocked supermarket and our room contained a large fridge freezer and a two ring hob with oven which we didn't use.
The apartments are in a lovely garden and tree setting and we experienced no road or poolside noise though the poolside bar is open till late/early.
We ate out every night and the food and service was good and typically Greek, I would recommend the Hotel Muses for an evening meal as they did a 25 euro fish or meat special meal for two which came with wine and was nice. Nearly all the places I had a drink the price was just over 3 Euro's for a large draught Mythos.
As in other reviews the main Koukounaries beach is a easy flat 10-15 mins walk along the main road, a nice sandy flat beach and calm sea with lots of activities( we did the flying couch towed along behind a speedbout 40 euros for 4 people) but as a family we much prefered the 25 min walk out of the top gate of the apartments through the woods to Mandraki beach, cooler with a nice breeze and some massive waves for my 5 and 7 year old to spend all day jumping over, as other beaches it had a charge for 1 umbrella and 2 sunbeds of 8 Euros per day (or part thereof) and one well stocked if a little slow beach taverna.
There is a bus that goes to Skiathos Town every 20 mins, which takes takes about 20mins and costs â¬1.80 each though my children weren't charged, shorter journeys (as in two stops) are â¬1.40.
The whole family had a great sea,sun and sand stay at the Sunset and would definitely recommend this place to anyone who asked me. We have been to lots of different Greek resorts and If your looking for old style Greek instead of only fools and horses Skiathos is the place for you.
I travelled independently with flights booked through www.Kissflights.com and the accommodation booked through www.monarch.co.uk.
Taxis are readily available at the airport and charge is based on a standard regulation fee, don't worry about fitting your cases in the boot they jam them full then bungy strap the lid down."

Friendly, clean and a great atmosphere
"Just back from a week at the Sunset apartments (also called Noula I believe) in Koukinares, Skiathos
We had a very enjoyable time - the pool area is clean and relaxed and it doesn't seem like you are only 30m from the main island road. There is a choice of menus too - bar food or a more extensive greek "restaurant" menu,
The apartments are very near the Agustera supermarket (very handy for us as we travelled with a baby) which has very friendly service and a good range of products - things are not cheap to buy in skiathos though.
Koukinares lake and beach are nearby - a ten minute walk from bus stop 24 down the road, or you can cut through past the lake at bus stop 23
The main path to Mandraki beach leads from the back of the Sunset apartments (15/20 minute walK) and beaches such as Eleni and Banana are also walkable.
We found the standard of food in the area very good with excellent meals at the likes of Ilias Orchard, Strofilia and Ilias restaurant at the nearby Mandraki Village Boutique Hotel. The bus runs regularlty in to town and you are more likely to get a seat than if staying in the likes of Troulos.
The apartments themselves were fairly typical for Skiathos- we had a small kitchenette area - and pleasant enough if a bit basic. Again cleanliness was good as they were cleaned every other day and we got a couple of sets of fresh bedding and towels.
Air conditioning costs extra but we found it very worthwhile with temperatures approaching 40 degrees.
A lovely relaxing holiday and we would definately go to Sunset again."

Great value, nice apartments, would definitely return!
"I stayed at the Sunset Apartments in Koukounaries in the first week in September with a friend. We travelled with XL.ie who have now gone bust but thankfully that did not affect our holiday at all.
I would have no problem recommending the Sunset Apts and would readily return there on holidays. One thing I will say about Sunset and Skiathos in general is that there are a lot of couples and older friends travelling together. It doesnt appear to be a party island but then we were there at the end of the season. Saying that we still went out a good bit in Skiathos and there are some good bars and clubs around.
If you look at a map of Skiathos you will see that there is only one main road on the island. Koukounaries is at the end of the main road. There is a bus that travels along the main road stopping at all the main resorts, hotels and beaches. It costs â¬1.80 to go from Koukounaries to Skiathos town and the bus runs about every 15 mins or so. Very reliable. Ive heard that the bus can be packed and awfully hot in the height of summer but we always got a seat and didnt find it that bad. Trip to Skithos takes about 20 mins.
Sunset Apartments were about 10-15 mins walking distance to the famous Koukounaries beach. It is a nice beach but too packed for my liking. Eleni Beach is a must visit at sunset - gorgeous views. Eleni is about 10-15 min walk from Sunset Apts also. Mandraki beach is also nearby but closer to 20min walk and through a forest/trees to get there. Big and Little Banana beaches are also nearby.
There is a supermarket next door to Sunset which has everything you could want incl English papers. The food in Sunset bar is nothing special but still good food, cooked fresh, tasty and good value. The staff were friendly and always helpful. We had a few requests the first night we arrived which were immediately dealt with. WE had a maisonette room which had a double bed downstairs and 2 singles beds upstairs. We found the steps fine but I did hear an older couple saying they found them very steep. I could understand why I suppose. The apartment was clean and air con could be purchased for â¬25 for the week - well worth it!!! We had a nice balcony with a table and 4 chairs. Looked out on a side garden with lime trees. The beds were a little hard but more than adequate. Bathroom was Greek style so you couldnt flush the toilet - there was a little bin which was cleared out 3 times in the week. The shower didnt have a shower curtain but that is pretty standard. It was a hand held shower head, a little annoying washing your hair but not really a problem.
The pool was great, we never had a problem getting a sunbed but again were there off peak. Though saying that it appeared that all apartments were occupied. There are only around 20 units in total so the apartments have a nice community feel and certainly not overcrowded. Also pool was clean.
There are a number of restaurants within 5mins walk of Sunset which were all very nice. Strofolina (excuse spelling) was our favourite. Lovely food, friendly staff, gorgeous setting (little fairy lights everywhere) and good value. Also a few bars (with mandatory sky sports for footie matches!) which seemed lively enough though we were never troubled by noise.
What we loved about Sunset having seen other apts along the main road was that the Sunset apts and the pool were back from the road so you never felt like you were on display!! Because the island is small and only 1 main road then a lot of the apts are squashed just off the road and many pools are right on the road so would be noisy and have the bus passing by every few mins. You never even noticed that in Sunset.
Really enjoyed our stay at Sunset. WOuld definitely return and would recommend this place to anyone who asked me.
There is a bus that goes to Skiathos every 15 mins, takes about 20mins and costs â¬1.80 each way. Taxi out to Koukounaries from Skiathos town costs about â¬12-15.
Highly recommend, would definitely go back. We got a great deal on it so great value too.....this was all pre-collapse of XL though!!!"

Noisy and very little privacy on your terrace.
"We came during the half term week, so our mistake, I guess but it was such bargain price, it was hard to resist.
We found the accommodation quite noisy, you could hear everything in the rooms above, even people having a pee! It was clean and tidy though and the maids work hard to keep it so.
I don't think many people knew how to "close" doors, rather than slamming them. Lots of furniture being moved around and kids screaming/shouting. Not good for relaxing.
Our studio had a low wall separating us from our neighbor which wasn't great. I got caught out a few times wandering outside in my underpants!!
People also seem to use this as a short cut to other properties, which is a bit annoying as well.
The pool was excellent, the couple of times we used it.
I would come back to Skiathos but not to this property, I'm afraid."

Must go back- Mal; & Andy Worcester
"This is definately one of the places that we will return. The appartment we were allocated was clean, well stocked and roomy with a lovely balcony. The poolside was also well kept and quiet - music not too loud. Pool was very clean. The family who run this complex are friendly and cannot do enough for you. We ate there most nights as the meals were lovingly prepared by "Gorden" as we called him as in Ramsay, and it must have been so hot in that kitchen. We loved the area as it is situated on the edge of a pine forest- this took you to various beaches and there are plenty of those to visit on this beautiful island. If you wanted quiet beaches they were there for the taking.Equally there was the gorgeous Koukounaries beach, although this tended to be overcrowded & noisy. This place ticked all the boxes for us. "

Sun, fun and excellent accomodation
"The Noula apartments are of an excellent standard and we would recommend that you stay there. The rooms were clean, bed linen and towels changed regularly.
This accomodation is family run and very friendly.
Vacillias George and Chef Vacillias make a fab team and are very accomodating as well as entertaining!
This is our second year there and won't be our last, many people you will meet there return again and again, which we think speaks for itself.
Great walks for the fit and able! Supermarket close by.
We love it and can't wait to go back.
Thanks to all who made our stay a holiday we will cherish!

relaxing and friendly where nothing is to much trouble.
"The Noula appartments were the best accomodation that we had ever been to. It was comfortable, relaxing, friendly and the family were very accomodating. The pool was clean and well maintained though it did go deep very quickly which may be a bit of a problem for younger children. The food in the complex was of excellent standard and could not find any thing to complain about. (the yoghurt and morello cherry dessert was lush). The rooms were well kept and cleaned on a regular basis, bedding was clean and bins were kept clean at all times. A good taverna to go to was the big bad wolf which gave excellent food . The beach was a bit further than expected but was worth the walk. The bus sevice to skiathos town was regular, though returning to koukounaries you were like sardines. all in all i would not hesitate to return to the noula in the future."
