"First holiday in 12 years , dad and I loved the place , clean tidy lovely people, the only let down is very selfish people , the pool opens at 9am and by 7am not one sun bed was not without a towel on ? Not one person at the pool just towels , not once were we able to get a subbed , on a few occasions that we sat by the bar theses sunbeds stayed empty only a towel for many many hours , this needs rectifying , a charge for the sun bed or a time limited , so the rest of the apartments get to use the facilities offered on this holiday experience We spent our time at the beaches which were incredible , so we were lucky as we still experienced a great holiday in Skiathos Advice would be if love beaches theses apartments are perfect I'd stay there again , but if your pool people may find your disappointed, "

Long way to beat it!
"We had our first holiday at Myrtia Summer Village in Koukounaries this year. The staff were all lovely & the accommodation was very clean & comfortable. The grounds are beautifully kept as is the pool & restaurant area. The reception area where you can sit in comfort is peaceful & beautifully furnished. The food was freshly cooked to order & nothing was too much trouble. The resort is only 10 minutes from the lovely, clean beach. Can't wait to return. Roy & Lynne "

The Best Holiday Ever
"Myrtia is the best holiday I have ever been on. The rooms are cleaned everyday, there is a safe and air conditioning unit you can buy for a very good price at reception. The pool was big and right next to the bar. Sunbeds are not limited, but in the rare occasion there is not one there you can ask at the bar and they will get some out for you. There is a ping pong table and a tennis courts that can also be used to play football as it has a goal (this is all very good for the children). The bar staff there are friendly and easy to talk to, spiros and his two sons Bill and Leo (who are too good at football and ping pong!)and maria. The food at Myrtia is all amazing and there's a wide variety at very good price. Children's meals are only 4 euro and most adults meals around 6,7-8 euros. We were in Self-Catering so in the morning before it got hot we took a 5-10 minute walk to the supermarket. They do a big range of lovely cocktails including non-alcoholic children's ones. Greek night and Quiz night at Myrtia are so much fun with the professional dancers and Traditional Greek music then some more modern English music. Skiathos town is a very very nice place with an old harbor and a new one, with some amazing restaurants some next to the sea which were very nice and I have to say I did not have one bad meal the whole time I was on holiday. Many trips were also available. Overall as a family of 8, 4 children, four adults we thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely be returning next year. "

Paul & Tim's First Holiday Overseas
"Both myself and my partner had a wonderful time in September 2008. Our room was a duplex with an open plan apartment with barn style staircase leading up to a further three single beds on a mezzanine with a cool loft window. Not too much of a night life if you are used to all night clubbing but a strip of taverna's that you can stay in until you drop. You can even stay local if you don't fancy the Delhi type bus to Skiathos town but the open air cinema and maze of streets make the journey worth it. You can even spot the scenes at the harbour and around town where they filmed the film Mamma Mia. No signs of Frida or Agnetha tho, My My...... There's even a solarium if the weather is crap, 12 euro's for 20 mins, but."

"Myself and my girfriend (both 19) spent a week at the myrtia 3 weeks ago, and are already thinking about going back next year. the rooms were regularly cleaned and the pool bar staff were very friendly and spoke very good english. the walk to the main road is no where near as bad as some people have said, and takes literally 4/5 mins. the bus service into town was regular and on time and the golden sand beach is no longer than ten mins away. would highly recommend this resort for any age group."

"What a relief! we went back to the Myrtia for a second time and was worried that standards would have dropped, thankfully all was well. The accomodation was as basic as last year but anyone who has been to greece before knows what to expect. The food at the restaurant on the complex was under new management but the standard was still exceptional with visitors from other hotels eating here most nights. The pool is exceptionally clean and they are obssesive about keeping it that way. You may have read some fearful reports about the long dark walk back to the complex, along the dirt-track through the trees but as long as you have a torch you are fine, we have two boys aged 5 & 7 at the time and they found this part of the evening very exciting as you can hear the crickets. The bus service is great, really regular and mega cheap, don't bother to hire a car as you can get to most places by bus. The bus takes you from just outside the complex right into town where you can check out the port while sipping a chilled coffee. The children were welcomed everywhere we went (two beautiful blonde boys) and would love to go again in a few years as there is not all that much for the boys to do in the evenings."

"We've just returned from a fantastic break at the Myrtia. The apartments are spotlessly clean and were regularly cleaned throughout our stay, along with fresh towels and bedlinen every other day. All the staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming - a special thanks to 'V' at the pool bar for being so wonderful with our 3 yr old son. The apartment blocks house around 8 - 10 apartments each and are set in gorgeous mature gardens with lots of interesting shady places to sit, on your own or in groups, reading a book, playing cards, whatever. The whole place is really thoughtfully laid out. There are lots of steps however, so it won't suit the infirm or those with a pushchair and no desire to haul it about - we managed with ours as the guests and the staff came running to help if they ever saw us struggling with it. The pool's an excellent size for the size of the complex, with a decent sized children's area, and loads of pool toys like lilos and floats to borrow. Plenty of umbrellas, a great bar and okayish daytime bar menu, but spectacularly good evening taverna menu. The Myrtia is along around 0.6km track - take a decent torch - but unless you're very lazy or very infirm you'll have no problems strolling along it as it's through a pine wood so it's lovely and shady. It took us around 10 - 12 minutes to walk it with a pram and toddler, then it's another 10 mins or so to the start of Koukounaries beach, which is great. All in all, the Myrtia more than met my expectations and combined with the lovely garden layout, spacious (if simple) rooms and friendly staff, we would most definitely return."

"Very quite location in wooded area yet only 3/400 mtrs to village restaurants/super market and about 800mtrs to Koukanaries beach though you do not need to walk to restaurants as the best one is at the Myrtia !! Wonderful food and great service. Rooms cleaned daily. Happy and helpful staff. Though we did not travel with children this is a really good and safe place for kids. This is good 3* accommodation. Bus to Skiathos town every 20 mins 1.5 Euros taxi to airport 20 Euros. We had a really good week."

"We spent a fantastic week in Skiathos at the end of Aug/ beginning of September. If you are staying at the Myrtia and booked your transfer, you find that you are separated from your bags on arrival at Skiathos airport and they are transported separately to Myrtia (because the track to the apartments is too narrow for the bus). You can either get on the bus or take a cab if you don't want to listen to the tiresome patter of your holiday rep. Your luggage turns up an hour or so after you do. The apartments are very pleasant, clean and basic. We didn't cook at all, so can't really comment on the cooking facilities. You can pay for air conditioning if you require it. The staff are friendly and there is a good sized swimming pool and bar/ restaurant area. As other reviews have mentioned, there is a 5 min walk along a track to reach the main road-- it does get very dark at night. We had no mosquito problems at all. There are some nice tavernas along the Koukounaries road but there is so much more to choose from in Skiathos Town. The bus service is cheap and regular, and stops at all the main hotels and beaches between Koukounaries and Skiathos Town, but it does get very busy-- we were lucky in that respect because Myrtia is near where the bus starts. It's pot-luck as far as choosing a restaurant goes-- there are so many. But for a really nice meal we recommend Scuna. You eat on a pretty deck with the fish swimming beneath you. Mainly Italian-influenced food but also regular Greek dishes. On the Saturday night of our stay we went to the Windmill. My partner had booked the 'Honeymoon Table', which is so fantastic it will probably make you want to cry when you see the view. We didn't find it overpriced. The food is not traditional Greek-- I had duck and my partner had beef wellington. The service was great and it was very reasonable considering we had a bottle of champagne (we got engaged that night!). We will definitely return to Skiathos!"

"I went to Myrtia with my partner and we had a fantastic time which is largely due to the great atmosphere that Achilles, Romana, Lorenzo and all the other staff have created. We had a studio apartment which was a bit basic and when, because I have no doubt we will, return we'll opt for a bigger apartment. The cooking facilities are very limited, 2 hobs and no oven, so you need to budget for eating out a lot, however, the food at the apartments was the best that we found in Koukanaries. Skiathos Town has a number of restaurants and bars but we didn't really take advantage of this as we enjoyed being at the apartments so much. The pool at the apartments is lovely and there is also a tennis court where you can try to beat Achilles or Lorenzo to a game. The beaches are close (10-15 mins walk max.) and there is a good choice if you don't mind walking a bit. There isn't a whole lot to do on the island so it is ideal if you just want somewhere to relax and unwind."

What a place!!!!!!!
"Just returned from the most amazing 2 weeks i've ever had. Beleive me when i tell you that Achilles, Romona, Lorenzo, Katalina and the rest of the Myrtia crew are without a doubt the most adorable, fun loving people i have ever had the pleasure to meet. I cannot fault a single thing about the place although i'm tempted to just in case everyone starts to book there and i can't get a room ever again. Myrtia is such an idilic setting no matter what kind off holiday your looking for.. We spent most night drinking with Lorenzo till the early hours then lounged by the pool all day but there is plenty to do and a dozen or so beaches within walking distance, so don't worry too much about it being off the beaten track. Yeah the cooking facilities are basic , but not any different to everwhere else i've stayed in Skiathos and who really wants to cook when you can pop down to the restaurant and be give a huge plate full of fresh mussels ( cooked anyway you like ) followed by the freshest sea bream i've ever tasted... And the sunday night BBQ...OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm not gonna go on about it as it will spoil the surprise but a word of warning... don't bother having breakfast or lunch on Sundays. What more can i say??? Basically Thankyou from the bottom of my heart to Myrtia and all who hail from there, we will return time and time again ."
