Jewel in the crown of Skiathos
"I have to say that the Xanthi Studios must be one of the best appartments in Skiathos. Bill and Matina ensure you feel at home and are happy to help you with things like finding somewhere to eat in town, hiring a boat for the day or just making some snacks for you. A lot of guests are repeat customers and returning a subsequent time you will find some familiar faces."

Best holiday ever
"We booked a holiday in Skiathos as we are planning to wed here next year. We only booked a one week stay but extended to two. Our travel agent informed us that the accomadation we had booked for one week was fully booked for the next week so we had to stay at another hotel for the second week.
Xanthi Studios is the friendliest place we have ever stayed and we loved it there. The atmosphere was fantastic and the people were so lovely we didnt want to leave.
We moved to our new hotel for the second week but kept coming back to Xanthi during the day and night. We found out that they did have one spare room so we ended up paying extra money to come back to Xanthi for our last four days of our holiday.
We would recommend this place to everyone and we will be returning towards the end of the season.
The rooms were immaculately clean and the food was very tastey. The pool has beautiful views of trees and fields with chickens. It's so peaceful there.
We cant wait to come back!!

"We checked out the previous reviews before we booked Xanthi, but didn't think it was possible to be as good as it sounded, but believe me it is!! From the moment we were welcomed by Martina at the bottom of the lane up to Xanthi, we felt relaxed and completely at home. We had dumped our bags in the room and within 5 minutes were sitting in the bar with a drink (and an air conditioning remote control purchased from Bill!). Martina and Bill the owners are superb, they cannot do enough for you and are friendly and accommodating always. The rooms are whilst basic, are very comfortable and clean. The room was cleaned twice during the week, this was ample. The pool bar area is lovely, could quite happily sit there all night working your way through the cocktail menu (which incidently are only 4.50EUROS in happy hour 7-8pm). The pool itself is clean and great size and the view from the pool is just fantastic. With only ten rooms we met some great people, you can get involved with the other holidaymakers or not as you wish, it was very relaxed. On Monday night there was a quiz, which was great fun and other holidaymakers from other accommodation joined in, it seems Xanthi is quite a meeting point! Our rep Darrell from Olympic, was superb, he lives in Skiathos and his knowledge and enthusiasm was infectious. There are many excursions you can go on, we just chose the Secret Skiathos, a boat trip around the Island with a few stop offs on various beaches, great fun.
There is a supermarket just up the road, a wonderful restaurant, Infinity Blue down the road and the beach a bit further after that, the location of Xanthi is just brilliant. The bus stop is also just down the road (stop 15), which will take you within 10 minutes to Skiathos Town. Don't try and get on the bus between 5 and 8pm though, it is just packed, other than that it's fine, taxi is also around 6EUROS and they stop if they see you at the bus stop. Skiathos Town itself is vibrant and fun, the restaurants are all much of a muchness but we found one particular good one at the Old Harbour, but I can't remember the name, check the menu's out, it had a mixed fish platter for 22EUROS for two people...superb!
Couldn't say enought great things about Xanthi, the owners, the residents and the location...it was just brilliant, we are definately going to go back one day, and would extremely highly recommend to anyone...ENJOY!"

"Just returned from a fabulous 2 weeks at Xanthi. It was our first time in Skiathos and it is a beautiful green island. The weather was exceptional and our hosts Martine & Bill made it such a fabulous holiday. We met some lovely people there both English & Greek. The views from the studios are exceptional and the rooms are kept spotlessly clean by Sue who does a wonderful job. Breakfast made by Martine is beautiful and sets you up for a very tiring day around the pool which is so relaxing. No fights for sunbeds as there are only 10 studios and enough sun beds to cater for you all. There are plenty of Tavernas in walking distance but Infinity Blue with lovely views is on the doorstep and very good food and service at all times. We went to a few Tavernas and another good one to mention is Green Park but make sure you are hungry before going as the portions are huge. I recomend hiring a jeep but just for 2 days because you can see the Island in that time. The monasterys are worth a visit and the beach near the airport is worth a visit especially as a plane takes off!!!!! All in all a brilliant place which I wouldn't hesitate to recomend to young and old but not really for kids or teenagers!!!! Well done to Martine and Bill and not forgetting there baby Katrina who is a beautiful child. If you go mention Ginger Terry to her and say you read this on the internet. We will return soon no doubt."

Myself and my partner booked 2 weeks in...
"Myself and my partner booked 2 weeks in Skiathos at the Xanthi apartments during August 2007.
Initially when we arrived we were welcomed by the owners, and shown to our room which was basic but clean with a pleasant view, however we immediately noticed the thumping noise from the pool bar, and both had very little sleep on the first night.
The following day we asked if the music could be turned down, which was refused as the owners didn't think it was excessively loud.
The thumping music from the pool bar continued every night we were there, and always until at least
3 am in the morning, sometimes even when there were no guests at the bar.
Basically our holiday was completely spoilt as we were almost always tired and irritable, and there was a bad atmosphere between us and the owners for the remainder of our holiday.
We feel that the owners should respect the fact that not everyone wants to stay up all night, every night, and we wouldn't recommend the Xanthi apartments to anyone who wants to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

"Spent two weeks on the beautiful island of Skiathos during August 2007.
The owners Martina and Bill welcomed us as soon as we arrived.
The apartments are well maintained, overlooking a beautiful valley and a sea view to the right. Pool was kept clean at all times.
Short walk up a slope to reach the apartments: not as steep as I had been expecting. Perfect base for exploring the island.

"We had an amazing week and it went far too quickly...thank you so much to Martina and Bill for making it a great holiday; we won't at all be coming to Skiathos again to stay ANYWHERE other than with you guys!
For anyone who hasn't been there - the reasons why I would certainly recommend Xanthi are:
- Brilliant hosts (who make a mean cocktail)
- Lovely views
- Exceptionally clean rooms
- The pool bar - the hotel has only 14 rooms and we really did have our own community, making some very good friends in the course of the week (Martina and Bill included) although of course you needn't if that isn't your thing
- Location - up a hill slightly so set away from the main road, but very close to the bus which takes you in to town or to the South of the island very easily
- Beach is also nearby, as are tavernas although a little (only 5-10 mins) walk away
We were there as a young (30ish) couple and the youngest in the group definitely, and it was perfect for us as although we're quite sociable, all night clubbing isn't really our thing, while sitting around and chilling out IS. I don't agree really with an earlier review that the bar makes too much noise; it's not full to overflowing, but it is fun if you do like to sit and have a drink!
If you have a sticky hip the hill isn't steep, but one of our fellow guests did have a bit of difficulty getting up it. Having said that, there were many other apartments that I imagine would be rather more of a challenge to get to...
I would definitely recommend it and will be returning!"

Having just returned from an amazing wee...
"Having just returned from an amazing week at the Xanthi Studios, I can't recommend it enough! It's a real get away from it all holiday don't be put off by the lack of photos on the Olympic website as the accommodation although basic is very, very clean and the owners Bill and Martina (we had Costa standing in for Martina) couldn't be more hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were nicely decorated and clean and the views from the balcony breathtaking. As was the pool and pool bar area which served lovely snacks. (The bar is also open until the last person leaves!!) It really was a little slice of undiscovered paradise!
I can also recommend Manos Supermarket about a 2 minute walk to the right and the restaurant Infinity Blue approx 1 minute to the left!! Amazing food and extremely handsome waiters!
Kolios beach is also very lovely and there are some surrounding Tavernas but the roads are slightly treacherous so do be careful, there are frequent buses into Skiathos although taxis can be hailed for about 7 euros and there are the usual shops, bars and restaurants however it was so nice to return to Xanthi and to the peace and tranquility! It is mainly adults at the resort as the rooms only sleep two but families from surrounding apartments are able to use the pool, saying that it was normally very quiet and felt like we had our own private pool!
One last tip hire a fan, about 2 euros a day it was well worth it!"

"When we arrived at the studios we were really surprised to see a fantastic view wherever we looked. The studios are very basic but very clean and the lower floor balconies are very spacious, and of course have an amazing view. The swimming pool was amazing very clean and set at a perfect temperature.
The staff were very friendly and are up most of the night and then early morning making sure the guests are happy. There are a few taverners around the studios but you need to walk about 10mins down the main road to come to anymore there are about 7 more and are all very nice.
If you get bored of them then catching the bus into town is easy, if not a little cramped, if you donât mind standing in the foot well of the bus then you will be fine. We caught the bus most nights and only had to wait max of 30mins but you can catch a taxi really easy, you can just flag them down.
The beach in kolios was one of the nicest we went too as there is a great bar and taverner and its quite quiet, but there are lots to choose from around the area just a short walk away. If you can its worth hiring a car for a day and exploring the island it doesnât take very long but its worth it, go up to the north side and you are face with very step narrow roads but if you like off roading then you will love those roads and there are great secluded beaches along the way, if you do go drop in to the dog sanctuary past troulous and you can take one of the dogs out and see all the puppyâs well worth it.
Hope this helps any one who is planning on going, we had a great time and the weather was hot!!!!!!!....

My fiancé Julie and I booked a last min...
"My fiancé Julie and I booked a last minute break to these apartments between 26th May and 2nd June 2006 and it is fair to say that it exceeded all of our expectations!
The location is one of the things that makes this a great base to stay in. They are set atop a hill overlooking a valley full of wild life and also the small beach at Kolios, however the climb may be to much for the infirm but believe me it is worth it. My opinion is if you want a view you need a hill! At the foot of the hill is the 15 bus stop enabling easy access to both Skiathos town and many of the 66 beaches, mind you if you don't want to travel there are three within walking distance! Our personal favourite is Agia Eleni which from memory was stop number 25. Here you can view the most marvelous sunsets whilst sipping your favourite tipple!
Now for the apartments themselves:- seldom have I visited a cleaner place, as an early riser I even saw the cleaning lady wiping the rails around the pool area! Accommodation is typically basic but functional and has the balcony with the view! The owners are delightful people named Martina and Bill, and despite Martina being heavily pregnant with their first child she could not do enough for us.
The area around Kolios has numerous nice places to eat and drink and so like us you should not feel the urge to use the 2 ring cooker, however you may like to visit the Manos supermarket 100 yards away who has wonderful fresh bread still warm from the bakery at 7.30 every morning and stocks a wide range of cheeses and olives as well as other essentials like beer and Metaxa! Our personal favourite restaurant is a short walk away in the Hermes apartments.
As you have probably gathered we liked this place very much and have no hesitation in recommending it to others, we ourselves shall be returning next May to see how Martina's baby daughter is getting on and so donât hesitate just go, regards Duncan and Julie."
