Samos City Hotel

Well worth the stay
"We only stayed one night, but could easily have stayed a few more. Probably the best thing about the hotel is its central location which presents a beautiful view of the Samos bay from the bedroom windows. If you're arriving by ferry, you really don't have to go any further to look for good accommodation than the Samos Hotel - it's about 50m from the ferry terminal, which, if you're arriving with lots of luggage, is a distinct plus. The breakfast was above average, and the bedroom/service as per the description of the other reviewers. For a hotel in such a prime location we found the price to be quite reasonable."

fantastic little hotel
"we have just returned from a weeks stay at the hotel samos in samos town. i would reccomend this hotel highly. it was a small and friendly hotel which was kept very clean.
OUR ROOM - i emailed the hotel before we left to ask for a room with a harbour view and on a high floor, and the reception staff were kind enough to give this to us. we were in room 411 which is on the top floor and has a lovely view of the harbour. the room itself was small but had lots of facilties such as air con and a seperate ceiling fan, a fridge, hairdryer, a tv which had a couple of english channels. 2 single beds which were v comfortable, and had proper pillows!!! we had a small balcony with sea views. the bathroom was again small but had a shower ect ect. the room was cleaned every day and we always had cleen sheets and towels.
THE FOOD IN THE HOTEL - breakfast is basic and stays the same for the whole week, its nice but gets a bit boring after a week.
THE POOL - the roof top pool is again small but kept very clean and offers views over the resort and harbour, there are sunloungers which are free and a whirlpool, showers ect.
there is a pool bar which does snacks ect. the area is shaded from the wind so u can get a nice tan.
HOTEL - the hotel is popular with the locals so often the bar is full of them!!! they are nice and friendly!! if a bit noisy but we couldnt hear the noise from the bar in our room. there is internet avaliable and costa 50 cents for 6 mins. there is alift to all floors.
the staff are lovely.
The WEATHER - the weather was good, mostly hot sunshine with no clouds about, we has 2 days of thunder storms which made the whole day cloudy no good for sunbathing!!!
EATING OUT - we ate out every night and the restaurants were so cheap compared to other greek islands, we did not have a bad meal. and the wine is dirt cheap and doesnt taste to bad!!!
THE RESORT. samos town is a nice resort, the harbour gives you trips to turkey and other islands, there are polenty of bars and restauranys and buses to other resorts. you do get a few local boy racers drinving up and down the main road showing off in there cars but then there isnt alot elsfe for them to do!!! parking is a bit of a nightmare oin resort and often people park anywhere and often block you in!!! we hired a car from pegasus car renatl next to the hotel and cost 50 euros for 2 days!!!"

Wonderful Hotel and Great Location
"This hotel is wonderful in so many ways. The hotel is located in Samos town and is only a few steps from the ferry, cafes and restaurants. You can easily find a taxi, book a tour, rent a car or utilize the local buses for visiting other areas of the island. The rooms are small but clean. Our room had a balcony with a side view of the harbor. The roof top pool and pool bar featured a beautiful view of the town and harbor. The breakfast was good. All of the hotel staff members were nice and helpful at all times. The hotel offers wireless internet access which was a great added benefit. The hotel was a great find and the price was a great value. I highly recommend it to anyone who plans to stay in Samos town and wants to be able to walk to everything."

Really enjoyed the Hotel Samos
"We have just returned from the beautiful island of Samos, where we stayed in the Hotel Samos on the harbour front in Samos Town for two weeks. What a great hotel! Spotlessly clean everywhere. Sheets changed so frequently we lost count and towels changed every day. We had a room on the front overlooking the harbour which was great for watching the comings and goings of the ferries and travellers from Turkey and other islands. The rooms are rather small, but have everything you need - free air con and ceiling fan, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries etc. Clean, comfortable beds with proper mattresses and pillows, not like some of the lumpy things we have endured in Greece before. Staff are friendly and helpful. Prices in the bar and snack bar are as cheap if not cheaper than in the bars in town. Breakfast - included - is plentiful, but does get a bit dull after two weeks. Nice roof top area with small pool, sunbeds and tables and chairs, with bar and snacks. Only criticism - pool was a little dirty. Not sure if filter was working. We would definitely stay here again. Many restaurants in short walking distance. Try Christos (near Garden Restaurant) if you want genuine Greek food. No menu - go into kitchen and choose. Four of us had plentiful evening meals and wine for 30 Euros total!! Great location for ferry to Kusadasi, Turkey for trip to Ephesus. Fabulous."

Really good hotel, great location
"We weren't sure what to expect from the Samos Hotel, as our travel brochure had rated it two stars (!!) and as we'd stayed in their supposed four star hotel in Athens by this time, we weren't at all optimistic. However, obviously their star rating works backwards, as this was most definitely a 3.5 to four star (by anyone else's standards) hotel. The location was fantastic - right on the waterfront of bustling Samos Town, close to the ferry and a short walk to all the waterfront restaurants and cafes. Our room faced on to a courtyard and had two balconies with chairs, and was not noisy at all. The room was air-conditioned (and the a/c was very quiet), had a fridge, hairdryer, modern bathroom, TV, wardrobes etc. Everything you could need, and all nicely done. There was a very nice rooftop swimming pool and bar area as well. Breakfast was fairly standard; only complaint was luke-warm coffee. We loved Samos as a laid-back, hassle-free place - like Noosa but without the beaches. Still, the waterfront was pleasant and the boats and the people are fun to watch. A great spot for overworked middle-aged professionals looking to recharge the batteries."

"We stayed at the Hotel Samos in Samos Town on the Greek island of Samos for two weeks. Fantastic hotel, maid service every day, very clean comfortable rooms. Service was great and the views from the rooftop pool were beautiful. We had rooms overlooking the bay and harbour, it was really relaxing just sat watching the boats arriving from Athens, Turkey and other islands just along the coast. There are quite a number of nice shops in the town and some lovely tavernas to eat. We tried a different one most nights and they were all to the same high standard. Tzakiki and eggplants - I can't wait for more next year!
The island itself is beautiful with lush greenery on one side of the island and the towering mountains on the other. Pythogorian was the former capital of the island and is lined with tavernas and bars all overlooking bay, where you can watch the pleasure boats coming in and out, or hop on one yourself. There are a few shops up the main street but not too many to spoil the tanquility.
The Ephilinus Tunnel is just above pythogorian but be warned it is like entering a tomb and very narrow once inside, it has a narrow path leading along side a 40ft drop that is covered over by thin wires, definately not for the faint hearted!
Karlovasi is one of the biggest towns on the island and has loads of shops, supermarkets and bars but it wasn't as pictureaque as Samos Town or Pythogoran.
Most of the islands beeches are pebble but there are is a lovely beech at Psillis Amos, approx 6kms from Samos Town, which has lovely soft sand leading right out into the sea. The sea here isnt too deep for quite a way out so is great if you have kids. The views of the Turkish mountains is breathtaking from this beach.
We went on a day trip to Kusadasi in Turkey for the day the cost of which was 42 euros each for the day and what a day. We had so much fun in the bazaar and what bargains we bought - spices, perfume, jewellery, clothes. If you have ever been to the bazaar in Marmaris and thought it was big then double the size in your mind and you have the Kusadasi bazaar. You can go to Ephosos from here also it is only 20 minuites on the bus or a taxi cost around 40 euros - but with bargaining you get this down to 30 euros. Kusadasi itself is rather built up and touristy but its nice for day out.
Hiring a car was the best thing we did. I got lost in side streets, ended up on deserted beeches, drove up mountain sides and scared myself to death on the way down, found beautiful bays with nothing there but a few fishing boats.
All in all we had a great time and I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Samos and the Samos Hotel in the future."

Friendly efficient staff
"Had a wonderful two weeks here July/August 2004.
Rooms were kept beautifully clean and bedlinen and towels were regularly changed. Breakfasts were very good. The food served in the music bar was also good and excellent value for money. The reception staff were very friendly and would deal with any enquiry quickly and efficiently. The hotel is ideally located for ferry travellers and it is easy to get to other parts of the island from the bus station in Samos town."

Excelent...and always investing in the customers!
"I went 2 times to Palma de Mallorca, Spain, whit a time gap of 5 years. The 1st time was on my honeymoon, and i am happy to say that, Samos was an excelente choice. It had very good an confortable acomodations, an very good service and we could tell that the staff was always tring to please the customers. Considering that it is a 3* hotel, and whit fair prices, it was the best choice in a quality/price relation.
I went again this year (2004) to Palma Mallorca, this time whit my daughter of 4 years old, and return to hotel Samos, after talking to the staff and hotel manager, it is notorious the great improvements, that they have done (New air conditioning, new decoration, more night entertaing, during the day the activities are "non stop", both for aduts and kids, etc) They are assuming a policy of investing the money that they earn, in new improvements and comodities. The price/quality relation is now better than 5 years ago. During the past 5 yeras i have advise this hotel to lot of friends, and every one of them loved the hotel and the vacations on P.M.
A last note, the food is absolutely EXCELENT, VERY VERY...GOOD. I talked to other customers, and another of the reason that they return to Samos is the excelente variety and quality of the food.
Since it is only a 3 * hotel, and whit the price table that they have, this hotel is a must for everyone.

A cut above the rest
"Have just returned from a wonderful two week break staying at the excellent Hotel Samos on Samos Island in Greece. The rooms were fairly small but adequate with all the facilities you really need such as a fridge, tv, hairdrier, airconditioning, plus a ceiling fan. Although the hotel is situated on a busy road it did not affect the enjoyment of the hotel in anyway and each room had good double glazed patio doors on the balcony, which shut out all noise at night. The hotel itself was very smart and cosmopolitan throughout. There is a rooftop pool and bar area although these were not in use at the time we were there as it was right at the beginning of the season but you could still use the sunbeds. I would certainly recommend this hotel because of how smart it is, the wonderful views, and the friendly owners and staff alike."

Liars and Thieves
"I arrived into Vathi a bit before midnight, I wasn't sure the exact name of the hotel I already had a reservation at, when I asked at the desk, I gave my name, Hotel Samos said yes and gave me a key, even though it was totally false, and my reservation was somewhere else ( I realized in the morning). I was very annoyed when I found this out, the woman at the desk was not apologetic at all.
The hotel itself was not a nice experience. The sheets and towels were clean, but the bathroom was dirty and the view was horrible. All the noises from the hall, surround pipes and nearby common bathroom could be easily heard from within the room. The breakfast was average, this place must get all its customers because of its close proximity to the port, I bet anyone coming to Vathi for a second time, or even a second night, knows to stay somewhere else."
