Nice Hotel, resort not great
"Stayed in the Ammos from 18th June until 2nd July, Hotel very good, but the swimming pool not that big, the views from the room were very disapointing. We went to the resort after reading loads of reviews (we normally go the islands) this resort is not a quiet greek resort, there was nothing quiet about it loads of people around, beach was over packed, don't go here expecting the real greece."

Good management, Good standards for 3*. Not 4* though!
"My wife and I stayed here on the 18th June for one week. The hotel looks good with potted plants and clean pathways & gardens. The bar/reception area is modern and clean. The rooms are on 3 floors. Rooms 101-104 are at ground level and the balconies offer (no privacy) & street level views. Rooms 308 & 309 are the highest and offer sea views.
The swimming pool is tiny. I didn't use it.
The whole complex is still fairly new but the bathrooms are starting to look tired. Most of the chrome fittings have hard water build up on them.
Also the cleanliness of the bed linen is variable. We had some blood stains on our bed (white cotton flat sheets) and had to ask for them to be changed.
Also the cover sheets that they put on top of the beds could also do with a good wash, there were various stains on them. When we pointed it out, we were asked whether we would be using them, as it was so hot! But that's not the point is it.......seems that only the 'white flat sheets' are changed regularly.
Overall then, other than the 'dodgy' bed linen this a good hotel in a good location with good management that care. Check out my photos."

this should be a 4star hotel - excellent
"Weâve just come back from staying at Hotel Ammos (also known as Ammos Studios) in Polichrono Halkidiki. The hotel is lovely, very clean, and the owner Christina is wonderful â very friendly and will go out of her way for you. Itâs a small family run hotel, not far from the beach â I would say a leisurely 5 minute stroll. There are around 26 rooms I think, a small but very clean pool area, and a bar which sells drinks and snacks.
There are plenty of restaurants to eat at, but our favourite was a lovely family run place called George. Set just back from the beach and serving traditional Greek food at excellent prices, I think the most we paid for a dinner there was â¬25 for 2 â 2 starters, 2 mains and a litre (about 6 glasses) of wine. We even got a free cake and glass of brandy afterwards.
The beach is fairly clean and itâs got quite a few pebbles by the shore, but the water is crystal clear.
I would recommend staying at this hotel if you want somewhere quiet to stay, I wouldnât recommend it for families with children as there were mainly adults staying at this hotel. And we will be going back there next year without a doubt!

"We got back today from a week staying at Ammos, The rooms were very nicely decorated with good views. It's quite a new hotel and is very clean - cleaners did our room daily. Its a few minutes uphill walk from the beach and tavernas but its good for greek-people- watching from the balcony as its in the middle of where the locals live. The location is also good as its not far from the main road to explore the other villages by car. The hotel staff were also very kind and helpful.
The pool is small but looked nice (didn't get a chance to use it though because of the bad weather!) and the beach was dirty in some patches - cigarette butts which might have been swepted from the tavernas through the season - but other than that it was a beautiful beach and weren't too bothered as we sat away from the dirty patches!
Would definitely recommend this hotel and polichronos overall though."

"A small, but very clean, comfortable hotel. Christina the owner/manager is a very ploite, obiging person, weather during our stay was appauling so spent most of the week in the hotel. She must have had all the hotel residents moaning to her, but she kept her smile all through! A good addition for the studios might be a toaster. The pool area of the hotel is quite small and intiamate - but dont let that put you off. Inso far as the resort - we found the beaches to be dirty - fag ends, plastic and dog poo were quite common. Parhaps we visited too late in the season?"

"The Ammos Apartments and Hotel Ammos are the same place.
When we arrived the check in process was flawless. We were travelling in a party of 7 and rooms had been allocated on the ground floor, next door to one another. The owner, Christina, has looked at our party and had made a concious effort to allocate us in this way.The rooms were FANTASTIC!!!! they were modern, spotless and very trendy!! The family rooms ( 2 bed) were HUGE - but I would say another wardrobe would have helped!! There were two balconies in the 2 bed and one in the 1 bed. Small but well equiped kitchen. Clothes airer on balconies. Maids daily and extremely efficient - they were great with the kids too!! The bar area was very clean. Good honest bar staff. Nice indoor tTV area with all sky channels. This place is a little piece of heaven!! The resort was quite Greeky but everyone made a great effort to speak English if you can't speak Greek. Fabulous restaurants- especially the main one in the square. Beach was about 5 mins walk downhill but worth the walk. It was a little shingly but take out a pedalo and check out the sealife!!! The cleanest sea I've seen in a long time!! If you are booking for Polichrono, this HAS to be the place to stay. Absolute credit to the owners for keeping this place looking fresh and keeping customer service at the top of their list as well!!!"

"I had never visited Greece, nor been on a girly beech holiday so had no idea what to expect and i was pleasantly surprised.
I was really impressed with was the personal, enthusiastic, approachable, genuinely caring attitude of the Hotel owner Christina and her staff which i have experienced very rarely on my travels. Nothing was too much trouble so much so that i was inspired to write this review as a means of a thank you.
Hotel Ammos provided the right atmosphere and amenities in which to unwind and relax. It was modern, clean and compact with a very clean pool with sunbathing loungers for those who indulge and adequate shade (for me). There is a bar available which provides snacks and drinks and tended by very friendly/professional bar staff.
Hotel Ammos was a good base to walk to the beech (5 minutes) and visit the excellent restaurants, small selection of shops, supermarkets and if a dip into the world back home was needed, internet cafe's. It was also two minutes away from the pick up point in which to embark on external sight seeing tours (for those of us who do not like to get sand between their toes).
The studio was large enough for 3 girls who had lots of belongings, air conditioned (you pay 40 euros extra but its worth it), small kitchen (fridge, hob, sink, pans, cutlery, crockery), television and had a little balcony in which to enjoy breakfast or pre/post evening drink. The shower needed some maintenance to stop it flooding but became part of the Greek plumbing experience :-)"

Hotel location is good, not too near the beach that noise is a problem, but near enough to be able to walk to. We drove to the hotel from the airport, it is an easy drive and the hotel is perhaps 50-70metres from the road, don't let this be a concern, there is no traffic noise.
Shops and supermarket are within walking distance and there is an ATM a few hundred metres from the hotel.
Christina is an excellent host, the Ammos is in first class condition, smart modern furniture, very clean ( a daily maid service). We had a minor fault with the air con, this was repaired within an hour of our reporting it!!
We were a family of 4 and there was always sun loungers available around the pool when we wanted them. The hotel has a bar which provides snacks and drinks. The bar men Georgos and Christos were both friendly and helpful.
Christina and her husband Vangelis are 2 of the nicest people you can meet, they will do all they can to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, without being intrusive. I cannot recommend the hotel highly enough."

Fabulous Ammos Hotel
"A lovely hotel, with excellent hosts & really clean.
This Hotel is everything you need in a small friendly hotel that's not far from anywhere.
The hosts Christina & Vangellis make you very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble & they genuinely care that you are having a good holiday.
The pool is small but there are always enough sunbeds & if not - the owners seem to to magically move a few around -so you do get some.
The beach, supermarkets or many restaurants aren't far.
Just to mention that Polichrono is very much a Greek resort where many Greeks actually holiday - so standards are really high, while the British Tourists really benefit from this & do feel welcome wherever they go."

Amazing find - book without fear
"Firstly, the Ammos studios are also known as the Hotel Ammos, if they are in Polichrono - they are one and the same.
The Ammos is about a 7-10 minute walk to the beach down a hill. It's not a very steep hill and is well lit at night. The hotel is surrounded by other apartments and you feel safe walking back late at night. There is a newsagent near by and a number of supermarkets within a five minute walk. The airport coach drops you off right outside so there are no long walks.
Christina is the owner of the hotel and is quite possibly the nicest hotelier I have ever met. She cannot do anything more for you, truly cares about your experience and will help you with any information you require. Christos the barman is also lovely and always greets you with a smile.
As soon as you walk into the Ammos, you realise you have stumbled across something special. The manicured gardens, lovely palm trees, modern pool furniture all contribute to a very lovely exterior.
The pool is fairly small, but there is plenty of room for everyone, and enough sunbeds to go round (although most people spend the day at the beach). What will strike you is the cleanliness and level of care which has gone into making the outside a very nice place to be.
Our room was very spacious, with modern decorating. How nice to be in Greece and have a modern mixer tap! The room was spotlessly clean with a maid service every day.
All in all, I cannot recommend this place highly enough, nor could our fellow travellers. Everything is of such a high standard that we could not believe our luck having booked a cheap online holiday."

Lovely Hotel. Christina who runs the complex is so nice and makes everybody welcome. From Susan Hyde.
"I have just returned from a lovely holiday. The Ammos Hotel is very nice and modern and very clean. The cleaner comes in daily and sheets are changed twice a weeks and towels about 3 times a week. The staff are very helpfull and christina who runs the complex is lovely. I mean a very nice genuine person. she will do anything for you. Christoff makes a good cocktal. The pool area is very small and sometimes you can not get a sun bed round the pool. So be warned you do need to get up early. The Beach, Resturants and a few bars are about 10 minutes walk down a hill from the complex. "THE BEST RESTAURANT IN POLICHRONO BY FAR IS *** HOTEL AKROGIALI***.Pick up a leaflet at reception and take this with you and you will get free glass of wine per person. This still remains a very greek resort,we stumbled across 1 english themed restaurant, the "cockney cafe". You get a good breakfast here. There are quite a few restaurants and we didnt have a bad meal all of the 2 weeks. Loads of fast food "gyros" cafes which were very popular. The beach was shingle but it was manageable once you've waded in a bit. Free sunbeds as long as you buy a drink from the coinciding bar, they didn't hassle you only came and asked us once, and come and serve drinks to you on beach. The streets are busy with lots of people. There are only 3 British Hotels in Polichrono. So most people in this resort are Russian and from cerbia. Also a lot of greeks on there holidays too. Over all i would go back to this resort in a few years time . But there are many other places to visit and see.***** Mr & Mrs Hyde from Manchester.

Ammos Hotel in Polychrono is light airy...
"Ammos Hotel in Polychrono is light airy comfortable and very clean.
Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is very good.
The pool is small but perfectly adequate.
Zoe, our First Choice rep, was extreemely helpful and very charming and funny.
It is about a 10 minute walk down hill to the beach passing right through the main square of Polychrono.
There is ample shopping and many lovely places to eat and drink.
Most of the bars are on the beach front so being 10 mins inland was excellent because there was no noise and if you wanted to party it was only a short walk away.
Polychrono is only 5k from the busy resort of Hanioti where there are many bars.
A taxi is 6 euro each way, so very reasonable.
I enjoyed my holiday immensely and plan to return very soon.
One tip for people needing internet access, avoid the "Sunrise" net cafe on the beach, instead try the little net cafe opposite the "Cockney Cafe". Most people can direct you to the "Cockney cafe" as it is very well known among the UK tourists.
