10 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"Stayed at Vasilikos Beach for 2 weeks - had a fantastic holiday. Hotel is set in beautiful gardens (well cared for) with a very good swimming pool and bar area. Cleanliness of hotel is excellent. The bedroom was a good size with two single beds and plenty of room - furnished to a good standard. All staff are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. We enjoyed our breakfasts every morning sitting on the terrace outside in the gardens listening to the birds sing. The hotel has access to 4 very good beaches with all ammenities. Within 300 metres of the hotel there were 3 very good tavernas/restaurants - we visited them all more than once and were not disappointed.
This hotel definitely lives up to other reviews on trip adviser and we will hopeful be visiting again next year.

Peaceful and relaxing
"Stayed here for one week and loved it. It's a very small resort, only 3 tavernas within walking distance but they all served really nice food at reasonable prices. There are two lovely beaches on your doorstep, Plaka and St Nicholas Beach - we went to Plaka a couple of times for lunch and then used the free sunbeds on the grass. St Nicholas Beach was a bit noisy as they bus people in from Laganas etc. for free during the day so there were lots of groups of young lads and loud music playing.
A few days we just stayed around the pool at the hotel and ordered lunch in the shade - really nice food there. It was very quiet and we were usually first at the pool in the mornings at around 9.30am but there were only about a dozen people there all day.
Breakfast was very nice and was taken in the garden, again this was a very relaxing start to the day.
We didn't hire a car or use taxis but got the bus to Zakynthos town one day - be aware that the last return bus to Vasilikos leaves Zakynthos at 1.40pm. We also walked from the hotel to Gerakas beach one day, took around an hour but it was a nice walk. There is no beach bar at Gerakas so best to take some water down with you.
The rooms were clean and comfortable although the beds were a bit hard. We had to ask for the air con to be switched on for the last 2 days as the temperature in the day was 40 degrees - note that air con is not free, it is 6 euros per night.
I would return to this hotel in the future if I just wanted to chill and soak up the sun but if you wanted to tour the island I think you would really need to hire a car (they start at 45 euros per day)."

Gem of a relaxing holiday!
"What a holiday, after half an hour transfer we were dropped off at a beautiful small hotel with a wonderfully designed pool and bar area. The ambiance is lovely with trees, shade, statues, rugs and candles.
The rooms are clean with single beds and a shower room, just what you would want and expect from a 3* hotel.
Breakfast was continental and was enjoyed on a patio overlooking a pretty, lush garden with views of the sea.
Hilary the owner of the hotel is fantastic, helpful and really wants you to enjoy your stay with her.
The location of the hotel is a dream with two beautiful sandy beachâs within two-minute walks of your room. You can either relax and read at one end of the beach or use the water sport facilities on St Nichs beach with a 10% discount as run by owners of hotel. The area of vasilikos is quite and pleasant .
I will also add three restaurants opposite the hotel where all good quality reasonably priced Greek food.
Thanks for the great break Hilary and staff, this really is a hotel worth staying at.

quiet location close to nice beach
"Vasilikos beach is a mid-sized holiday resort which is located very close to the gorgeous sandy beaches (less than 400 m walking distance). The rooms are comfortable and clean and the small pool area is tidy too. Unfortunately there are only few restaurants which can be reached without cab or rental car. The place is kind of remote although the beach can become quite crowded during the day.
The hotel needs to improve the buffet breakfast (only small choice, sometimes insufficient)."

A most welcoming and enjoyable place to stay
"This was our first visit to Zakynthos and to the Vasilikos Beach Hotel, which is close to St Nicholas Beach. We really enjoyed our stay and were made so welcome by Hilary and all her staff. Hilary is the English wife of George who is Greek so you get the best of advice on places to visit, the good Tavernas' as well as a being really well looked after. Hilary's staff are excellent, extremely helpful and always pleasant.
Our room was very clean, comfortable with En suite, Air conditioning, balcony and a wonderful sea view. Breakfast was Continental and the choice of food was excellent.
The Hotel is set in it's own picturesque grounds and is not overlooked by other hotels. The pool area is fantastic with the benefit of a magnificent swimming pool and a poolside bar in the shade. Drinks and Food are available from the bar all day.
The Hotel is close to the best beaches on the Island with lovely soft sand, safe bathing and water sports for the active as well as quieter areas for the less active.
There is an excellent beach bar at St Nicholas beach which is run by two English ladies who offer a wide choice of food and drink, the beach bar location and setting is superb.
This Hotel/area is great for families with young children looking for a perfect Beach holiday. There are a number of other beaches close by which can be reached by Taxi or hired car.
We hired a car and toured the Island but did not find any resorts or Hotels that compared with this location. Although some may have offered more luxurious accommodation they did not offer the beaches or grounds that this hotel has to offer.
We look forward to visiting again."

"We just returned from a week of magical vacation in Zakynthos. We stayed at Vasilikos Beach Hotel, It is a real gem - Situated at Vasililos which is a very nice place out of the main touristic stream and close to Dafni beach and Gerakas beach where you can see sea turtles nests. The hotel is beautifuly designed, the pool area and pool bar are great. Actually we had so much fun around the pool that we decided to have a whole day relaxing there instead of going out... We had breakfast at the hotel which was very good. There are many tavernas around but when we could we ate at the pool bar which serves very good light food. In the evening we ate at the taverna across the road or at a restaurant called Simply Greek which is very good (10 minutes drive).
My kinds loved the animals on the property and bonded strongly with the horse and ostriches.
The team and specifically Hillary, the owner are wonderful, they responded kindly and quickly to any request and even upgraded us to the suite when it was vacant.
In summary - Great value for price and wonderful for families with young children."

Loved Vasilikos Beach
"We had been to the resort of Vasilikos before and loved it, this was our first stay in the hotel, and it was lovely, the rooms were clean and spacious. The resort is very quiet and peaceful, just perfect for a romantic break. The staff are very helpful and make your stay as pleasant as possible."

Fantastic location and hotel
"I spent a lot of time on the net researching hotels and locations before heading to Zakynthos.
I can honestly say (and my husband kept reiterating this on holiday) that I found a little piece of heaven in the Vasilikos Beach Hotel. It had everything and it was well run, in a beautiful village location, quiet and non-touristy and right next to two of the best beaches on the Island (Plaka and St Nicholas).
We hired a car from the airport for the week to give us extra flexbility as St Nicholas (the wee village where the hotel is) is right on the tip of the south east peninsula. It allowed us to drive to nearby Gerakas beach (the most beautiful beach on the island) and into Vasilikos village (3kms away), to Zakynthos town (about 15 mins drive away) and explore the rest of the lovely island.
We booked a self catering room at VBH through somewhere2stay.com for â¬220 (£150). It was pleasant, clean, roomy, and a private balcony that overlooked the beautiful Greek gardens with the sea on the other side. We also looked out over emus, bunny rabbits and goats, which was nice. The room had a wee kitchenette with stove, fridge, kettle and toaster, which was great for slow breakfasts.
The hotel has a lovely pool and grounds, scattered with old stonework and statues of Greek gods. It's small enough (about 50 rooms) so it doesn't feel packed, and thankfully doesn't tend to be on the package tour trail, so it's not full of moany, argumentative Brits. In fact, it's a really nice mix of Italians, Bulgarians, Greek, Austrians.. etc etc.
Food wise, St Nicks has 4 tavernas and a couple of supermarkets (about 1 min from the hotel). There are also the amazing beach bars on St Nicks beach and Plaka beach.
Hillary, who runs the hotel, goes out of her way to make sure you have a pleasant stay. She even helped my husband surprise me with champagne and a cake on my birthday. Very lovely.
Like all Zakynthos hotels, you have to pay extra for air con (â¬6 a day I think), although we didn't because opening the window to let in a cool breeze seemed the more natural, cheaper option. Safe (an essential item) was â¬1.50 a day.
All in all, a fantastic place - the antithesis of nasty, loud, chavvy Laganas and Kalamaki. Even so, if you want neon, tourist nightlife, then Argassi is only about 15 mins away by car, Kalamaki probably a 20 min drive.
To sum up..... I can't recommended VBH enough... Best beaches on the island, cheap food and drink and quiet and relaxing..."

Lovely hotel in great setting
"Booked an allocated on arrival holiday with Thomson. Looked into the various resorts around the island, but wheh we got there and told we were off to Vasilikos we thought "Where?". Never even noticed it on the map.
Taxi transfer to the hotel as nobody else were going there!!! Then when we arrived we thought "wow!" The hotel looked wonderful. The pool area was amazing. The hotels grounds were like a zoo. Loads of different animals all over the place.
The rooms were adequate, clean and tidy.
Around the hotel the beaches in the area were superb.
There is nothing of a resort really. A few tavernas and a shop in the vacinity. Most nights we ate around the hotel and then got a taxi to Argassi. Here it was more of a lively resort with bars etc.
All in all we had a fantastic holiday. Maybe the hotel could be picked up and moved nearer to a main resort for us younger adults, but those wanting peace and tranquility, this place is ideal."
