Best value for money
"Just come back from a 1 week stay in June 2011. I was very surprised by the Alkyonis! For the amount of money we paid or the holiday (£185 or 1 week), we werent expecting too much. But the Alkyonis was excellent in every way. The rooms were spacious and had everything we need, the pool area was clean, the bar had a wide selection of drinks and all of the staff were very friendly (apart from the granite faced cleaner that never says hello or smiles). There is also a security guard on reception every night keeping the hotel secure.
I would definitely recommend this as a hotel or 18-30 age bracket and is only a 2 minute walk from the beach and 10 minutes from the main bar/club strip.
Finally i would recommend the Avanti Restaurant 100 yards away from Alkyonis. The food was excellent and the service second to none!"

"Just returned from a weeks holiday at the Alkyonis Hotel. The large hotel reception area was clean and spacious with leather sofas, tables and chairs (for breakfast), two pool tables (tokens needed from bar) and an air hocky game. There are two bars attached - one for the pool area in the day the other for the evening. Board basis was B & B. Bedrooms very basic but with a balcony overlooking the swimming pool (clean and needed in heat). Only one had a fridge costing 15 euros per week but both had air con units costing 45 euros each per week but well worth the money at this time of year. Beds very uncomfortable as matresses not that thick. Bathroom compact and showers did not work that well. Shower curtain mouldy at bottom. Bed linen changed only once during our week. Towels changed only once but we had to ask to change them. Breakfast basic - cereal, toast and jams, biscuits, yoghurt & honey, boiled eggs, tea, coffee and juice. Did not sample the cooked breakfast which cost 6 euros for a full English. Bar meals in day include burgers and chips, pizza. Plus Points include location of hotel away from noise of main bars and also close enough for good beach and restaurants. Recommend 'Avanti' which is almost next door, good food and host. Guests in our week were a mix of ages but non caused any noise, mess or fuss."

Me and my friend went to Zante on 25/07/...
"Me and my friend went to Zante on 25/07/08 for one week. We went over to visit our friend who is an 18-30's rep. Our plans for the holiday was to have a relaxing day and then in more of a party mode at night. So we wanted abit of both scenes..the quiet and the not so quiet.
The hotel itself-Well there is alot of things to say about Alkyonis hotel, more positive than negative. You cant expect anything more than basic if ure holidaying in Greece. It was sort of clean, The shower was powerful but there were the bath has stains in and be careful not to put tissue down the toilet because you don't want to be seeing yesterdays rubbish!! The cleaners are in everyday with fresh sheets/towels/emptied the bins and swept the floors. I would def suggest that you pay for air conditioning its priced the same everywhere around 45 euro for the week. I never got a chance to see breakfast it was always put away before 10 a.m. I wouldnt suggest to eat it either, its a piece of toast with a cold hard boiled egg. The staff behind the reception speak little english but they know enough to get by e.g. taxi/safe/air con. You dont get a safe in your room, they have a large safe in reception containing loads of draws but this is very safe and is double locked with a master key over night. The bar staff speak good english, Becky is an english girl who works there whose very pleasant and if you need any advice shes normally there, there are also thomson reps hanging around whom i didnt find that helpful really. Me and my friend never used the pool we always went to the beach seeing as the beach as literally a 3 minute walk away on your left as your coming out of the hotel. There is a friendly greek man who takes u to your sunbed and makes u feel welcome on the beautiful beach, it has an amzing view. The sunbeds cost 7 euro for 2 including an unbrella. The pool only had sun at certain angles due to being between two buildings but there is a sun terrace. I managed to enter many other hotels containing younger groups and i can honestly say the Alkyonis is one of the most impressive, when you turn up at the hotel you wont be disappointed.
Dining - When it comes to dining the best place would be 'Toad in the hole', which is a few doors down in the direction of the beach. It is an english run restaurant with a homely atmosphere. The prices are resonable and the people who run it are extremley friendly especially the Greek waiter. I would def suggest breakfast its delicious. There was an occasion where me and my friend ate there for breakfast lunch and dinner. Another nice eaterie was a restaurant called 'Georgios' which is situated in the direction of the main strip(very big, tasty portions!)
Night life - I preffered staying in the Alkyonis because it wasnt to far from the strip but far enough t get a good night sleep. To get to the strip you turn right ut of ur hotel, the directions are simple, just ask a rep or bar staff is unsure. If you cannot be bothered to walk you can get a taxi for 6 euro. This is a set price for where ever or when ever you travel around the strip. I cant really suggest the best bars and night clubs because everyones tastes are different. I can only say that the best nights i had were in Cherry Bay late at night for abit of cheese, Bad Boys has good music and a few others which you will hear mentioned..rescues, cocktails and dreams.
Other - I dont recall seeing one fight all week, there was only one group of lads i saw getting abit rowdy, who werent getting into the bars. Theres aload of takeways on the strip including mcdonalds/kfc/pizza hut/king of burger and subway if u wanted a late night munch but they are a bit skanky on giving out sauce! Never walk on the beach at night even though its tempting to take the short cut, nearly everyone i know who has walked on there has either been attacked/mugged or even both. This is apparantly the doings of the Albanians on the beach so stay away when the sun goes down.
Overall conclusion - If i was to go back the Zante i would def stay in the Alkyonis again, a few of the main reasons were because you of being so close to the beautiful beach, a lovley restaurant next door along with a supermarket. Laganas in Zante is a fantasic holiday. I would def not suggest this for couples others may disagree but i felt as if i was there with a partner i'd be missing out on the real Zante experience. I wouldnt suggest Lagaznas for couples with children. It is a fantastic holiday for a group of friends and i can honestly say its one of the best holidays i have ever had despite the faults. Its def the place to be this year and if you havent already booked up, do it now."

"Just back from ace break to Zante, had checked reviews on this site first. Flight good no delays, arrived to clean room, shower always hot and fast. Had breakfast at Toad in the Hole everyday 6.50 euros full fry up. bliss, evenings recommend restraunt on the beach carretta carretta, waiters ace food bliss, recommend the meatballs, watched the sun go down very romantic!!!
Hotel had good bar by the pool Becky and Tom loads of fun and know everything and everywhere. Mixture of people no kids yippee, couples and singles but the strip is only 10 mins away far enough away not to hear but near enough to walk to. singles not too loud when returning.
Hot and sunny everyday, beach 2 mins away, pool bliss nice and cold.
Advise pay for air con 7 euros a day but worth it, mosqitos about.
Worse part being dragged into every restraunt you pass, but if you dont speak they dont know where you are from. if you just arrive they are more persistant, just keep walking!!!
Would def go back"

"We found the hotel very friendly. Pool was smashing and clean.Tasty snacks available and beer 2.40 euros pint. Only two floors, no lift. Ok for us but for older people the stairs could be a problem on arrivial and departure with suitcases, but we are sure that if you asked, someone would be available to help as it's a family run hotel, The cafe "Toad in the Hole" is a must, just a few yards from the hotel. Yannis and Angela, are the owners and are so friendly and helpful, we felt as if we had known them for years. Beach just down the road is fab, with lots of free sunbeds too. Beer 2.00 euros pint in the BayWatch bar down to the right. Can't wait to go back there. People we met had been staying in the hotel for the past 7 years or more. Great position for quiet or lively holiday. Lovely restaurants close at hand, you will be spoilt for choice. Happy holidays!!"

"Perfect little place, in just the right place.
If you are looking to go to Greece and have never been before ... yes standard there are in relevant to their country. But I cannot fault them!
If you going for the nightlife... you can still walk it easy enough but is also the right distance away to get a good nightâs sleep!
Rooms are basic... fridge and such are optional and we did. Supermarket around the corner is VERY handy.
Perfect distance from the beach and local restaurants.
As the gentleman above stated Toad in the hole is a must.
Pool has a very chilled atmosphere around it but does not get the sun a great deal.. - Only let down.... BUT!!!
What you might not notice in the pictures is they has built a sun terrace and you get the sun up there until late evening.
Nice hotel for all, great staff who where more than happy to help on any occasion... even with my laptop!!! I will see them all again in May!"

"The hotel is excellent in position, with the beach only 500m away and the night life/main areas start just around the corner. There are supermarket shops next door, which are very handy, and many places to eat very close by. We found somewhere different every night to eat although a lot do offer the small choices.
The reception of the hotel is very nice and the bar and pool area is also ok (we chose the beach every day though). The room was very basic and a bit dirty in places (we wore flip flops in the shower!). The room was given a quick mop daily and linen changed twice a week, although they didn't always look brilliantly white. At first we found the owners to be very quiet and a bit rude but later found this was due to poor English. If you need anything, it is far better to ask one of the sons at the bar who can then go and ask his Mum or sisters in Greek for you. Once we discovered this they we very helpful.
The breakfast is very basic (toast, bread, hard boiled egg, peaches and cereals), we ate here some times while also using the highly recommended Toad in the Hole two doors away. Very quiet at night. Overall not too bad a hotel for the money and I think you will find the same in most B and B hotels.
