"We did enjoy the place very much but little things let it down. The hotel is clean but our room which had three single beds was never once swept, for the entire week we were there. Also very small, we only had a 2ft walk way to get passed the beds to the patio and kept banging our legs.
The breakfast was disappointing, the juice was ghastly, the coffee, the same. Tinned peaches most days and various breads. The staff are very nice.
Do not book trips through Thomson they are a complete rip off. You can book the same trips through the travel centre on the main drag of Kalimaki at a much less price and you do get the same standard of trip.
The beach is fantastic but remember it is a nesting ground for the turtles so take all rubbish away with you as the bins provided are usually overflowing.
The Escape taverna is only a few yards from Venus hotel (turn left at the front of the hotel) and very good value for money. Also the Guru Indian and Chinese on the main drag in good along with The Parthenon where Yannis and his staff are only to happy to assist you in any choice.
Overall a great holiday only a few niggles. Beware if booking through Thomson that you have to pay extra for air conditioning, fridge and a safety deposit box, if you book directly with the hotel you get a much better rate for staying, the air conditioning, fridge and safety deposit box are at no extra cost. We met people there who had been several times and now book directly through the hotel and even get picked up and dropped of the airport free of charge as well. When we spoke about the costs of the holidays they were surprised to find that we had paid almost double for the one week than what they had paid for two.
Also must say Zante airport AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Don't buy food there it is very expensive. We bought a tuna salad long roll, a cheese pie and one can of fanta lemon for 12.95 euros! My wife was that mad she told them to keep the fanta lemon as she has a bottle of water with her! And the airport staff said it would now be 9 euros. 3.95 euros for one tin. I realise they have you when in the airport, but there is no need to make a complete fool of us!
Overall a nice quiet resort but not really much for kids at night except for the mini golf and Sofiaâs bar for play station etc.

"This is a lovely place to stay. Guests are made to feel very welcome and the hotel is extremely well maintained.
The rooms are very comfortable and spotlessly clean. We stayed here in 2003 and 2004, twice in 2005 and are staying twice in 2006. The hotel is well situated a short walk from the beach in one direction and the centre of Kalamaki is only a few minutes walk away.
We book independently which is a very easy process and is always at a competitive price."

"Having stayed at the Cavo Doro in Kalamaki in Sept 2004 we decided to try the Venus. What a fabulous hotel.
The staff are very friendly and the hotel is very clean. The breakfast is brill it really sets you up for the day. We booked for the Greek night and really enjoyed it we would not hesitate recommending this hotel you will not be disappointed. The beach is not far away and you can walk into Kalamaki.
We had some very good meals out and our favourite was at the Paris. The meals were delicious and the staff very nice. We hired a car for three days from merlis car rentals and toured the island can't wait to go back.

"I have stayed three times now at this Hotel, which must speak for itself.
The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the facilities are great.
Last year we travelled with Thompson holidays but we are going independently this year, to book it on the internet is so simple, and you save a lot of money!
We went in September and saw baby turtles hatching. Worth going again just to see that.
The hotel is situated in a perfect position half way between the beach and the resort centre. Cannot recommend it enough."

The Venus Hotel in Zante (Kalamaki) was...
"The Venus Hotel in Zante (Kalamaki) was a lovely looked after hotel run by an American Greek family - staff were very friendly and rooms were clean and comfortable.
I was there with my 13-year-old daughter and it was just what we were looking for from a holiday for just the two of us. Zante airport is very small, bit of a push checking in for return flight. Kalamaki is good for the restaurants and ok for the bars, Laganas isnât too far off if you want a busier night out. We got no hassle from shop owners, they were pleasant and let you browse with out any fuss - we went on the turtle cruise, loved that, well worth it - BUT wish we had given the Thomson repâs Saturday night show a miss, not worth the money (drinks were included but no food).
I would recommend Zante to anyone; Iâd go back but might try Laganas next time with my husband.
