"The biggest cause for concern was at 3am one morning, whilst we were all asleep, someone unlocked our front door and walked in. They must have seen we were there as they quickly shut and locked the door and we all woke up. In the distance we saw someone with a torch making a hasty retreat. The following day we asked the receptionist/manager to explain what had happened. She contradicted her own story saying this had never happened but that people sometimes forget which room they are in and the security guard will let people into any room. She would not contact the security guard but said we were welcome to stay up until 1am to see him even though he spoke no English. She really didn't believe us and was more interested in looking after her children than helping us. The story is highly suspicious and seems to point towards an inside job, so watch your valuables! The rest of the hotel ticks the boxes for the basics, the bar staff were particularly good."

My wife and I plus three children arrive...
"My wife and I plus three children arrived here having booked a double room for my wife and myself plus a "family room" for the three children. When we arrived we had the two rooms in seperate blocks.we said that we wanted to be in the same block and were told we could move the next day but that never happened. we then had to carry our own cases up stairs as there was no lift then we had to take the childrens cases down a longpath and up more stairs as there were no lifts and no one to help us. we had to pay the extortionate price of â¬170 for air conditioning and the rooms were two box rooms with beds crammed in. Breakfast was continental. there was no chill cabinet so the milk was hot and the cheeese melting.Flies were all over the jam and marmalade. The shower was just big enough to fit into and had a tatty curtain hanging around it-the type you would buy in a pound shop. Sometimes hot water ,sometimes cold. the receptionist could only speak broken English but funnily enough were able to speak perfec fluent German. This is a predominantly German hotel. We ended up just sleeping and changing there and spending the rest of the time at the beach or up the high street. we always had breakfast elsewhere. Under no circumstances stay here . There are plenty of good hotels around so use them instead. "

We have stayed at this Hotel on three oc...
"We have stayed at this Hotel on three occasions and have always found the Staff and Owner to very friendly and helpful, the hotel is quiet basic but very clean and its in a quiet area of Kalamaki. Breakfast is nothing special, toast, weak juice, coffee meats and and boiled eggs, enough to get you started. The Hotel is close to the beach and Tavernas, however the beach access is a nightmare, why dont the locals do something about it, its got worse over the years. Zante overall is not your typical picture postcard Greek Island, but we use it for a short break as and when as the people are very friendly and helpful, just avoid the "Brits on Tour", I'll say no more on that. Have a trip around the Island, visit some of the villages but avoid the Lace Makers, its a bit of a con, best view is the Sunset Taverna at Kampi, best food is Arris & Annas on the road to Vassilcos, she does all her own cooking, pasta, bread etc and her home made Lasagne is a must, the view from the outside tables is fantastic, you MUST visit. Also on the main street there is a small Taverna call "Time Out", good food good chat and very friendly, its run by a family with Mamma & Papa cooking sons daughters serving, you get a greta fruit salad at the end of the meal compliments of the Staff. Best Coffee and Pastries are at the new bakery on the main street in Kalamaki, cannot remember its name off hand, but they do a super range of cakes etc, also the coffee is up to "Costas" standard, unlike some I could mention. Hire a car before you go, best deals are with Smart Rentals, all cars are new and Staff are very helpful. Overall Zante is a friendly Island but is need of a re vamp as it will get left behind in the Tourist Stakes, however we will continue to pay our biannual visits as we have made many friends on the Island."
