had a very good holiday
"we spent 2 weeks at kalamaki beach hotel in june, very satisfied with the accomodation, brilliant location nice and relaxing. The hotel is set in very nice gardens, the staff are friendly and helpfull. we enjoyed the breakfast there was a reasonable selection to choose from, there was toast, cerials, ham, eggs, cheese, yogurt, cake and juices and tea and coffee and the breakfast room was lovely. The pool area is big and always clean, nice snacks at the pool bar and the beach taverna. The beach was nice not to busy and just a stones throw away from the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from on the main road, we tried most of them but the one we enjoyed the most was olive tree, the only one where there was nobody trying to get you in, they did the best fish and chips ! and everything else was nice there too. would return had a great holiday."

"stayed at Kalamaki Beach hotel for 3 nights May 2010. All staff extremely friendly and helpful. Arrived early afternoon and taken to our room immediately. Breakfast consisted of madiera cake, fruit, greek yoghurt, vienese biscuits, toast and the cappuccino from the machine was excellent."

"We have stayed here twice ,2008 for(1 week)and 2009 for (2 weeks) and had a really great holiday both times .The rooms are clean and well kept although a bit basic ,but like most things you get what you pay for ,And for the amount of time we spent in our room it was perfect. The pool is very good (if you havnt got the strength to walk the extra few yards to the beach ),and the bar serve really good snacks Its virtually on the beach ,and after a long day on the beach its a very short walk back to the hotel ,to freshen up for the night time . Its a 10 minute stroll into Kalamaki ,were there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from, We ate out every night and never had a bad meal , "

"Second time here, loved it so much 1st time round, on arrival staff remembered us we were welcomed with warm conversation and a big kiss. We had a different room which was perfect, clean tidy and very comfy and a brilliant view of the sea. Having stayed here before we Knew what to expect, yet it felt as though every member of staff were doing that little bit extra to make our stay rememberable. I recommend this hotel to everyone. On leaving we had conformation of our next stay and also given the rooms, can't fault them on anything. XXXXX"

"This has to be one of the best Hotels We've stayed in. All staff were very freindly and helpful, the rooms were very clean, bedding changed regular along with fresh towels and toiletries. Food was fresh and plenty served with a smile. With its own large swimming pool and no shortage of sunbeds made relaxing a sheer treat. Just a very short walk to the beach through the hotels own gardens, where they have a taverna, what a brilliant view whilst having a cool drink and fine food. Anyone who stays here is sure to enjoy their stay. Should be 4star not 3star. BRILLIANT "

Good all round hotel
"We stayed at this hotel for a week in July 2007. I went with my boyfriend and another couple. THE HOTEL The hotel was lovely, clean and the staff were very friendly and accomodating. They immediately placed us in rooms next to each other and were helpful with regards to other requests and generall tourist information. We did have to pay extra for the use of air con and a fridge but we were aware of this before choosing the hotel. The breakfast selection could be a little more varied but it was bareable and they don't hurry you out as soon as the breakfast times are over. THE POOL The pool was nice, with two snack bars and never had a problem getting sunloungers . It also had easy access to the beach if we wanted a change in the day. LOCATION I found the location perfect. It was close to the centre of kalamaki (about 5 mins walkng distance), close to the beach and quite at night. Kalamaki has great selection of cocktail bars and restaurants. Getting a taxi to laganas was easy if you want more nightlife. AIRPORT Yes the hotel is near the airport as with all hotels in Kalamaki. The planes are low and there is aircraft noise when planes take off and land. However, I did not find the noise level irritating, dissruptive or excessive to my holiday at all. There are only about four planes a day and the airport is quiet after 10pm. Over all this hotel was perfect for us. It was just what I expected and would deffinately recommend or visit this hotel again."

"We stayed at the Kalamaki for 2 weeks in Sept and had a really chilled break. We had a few niggly problems with the room, but all were resolved very quickly as soon as reported to reception. The rooms are very cramped with little storage, and the bathroom was the tiniest I'd ever seen in a hotel, as already reported on previous reviews, but the closeness to the beach and the peace and quiet of the hotel and area itself made up for the drawbacks. Our room was on the 1st floor (307) nearest the pool which had a lovely view of the sea from the balcony. If you're going to stay here expecting entertainment then you'll be disappointed (unless you count the banter with the lovely Emmie in the bar!) as there is none, however we went to the hotel next door for a greek nite and a "Rat Pack" nite which were both very entertaining. There are lots of bars on the main strip which have music and entertainment so we didnt spend much of our evening in the hotel. The staff were all excellent and eager to please, speaking good english, including Takis, Sophia and the pool bar man who we never found out his name! Emmie in the evening bar also speaks excellent greek ... for a girl from Cardif!!! The nearby restaurants were all really welcoming with excellent varied menus and no queues, but if you want to go to the best one, make an effort to go up to the Michaelos which was always busy and had the best greek food I have tasted, as well as steaks to die for! We went 3 nites and werent disappointed once, but be prepared to wait in the little patio area beside the restaurant for 15-20 mins for a table, because it is so popular. Breakfast was ok as long as you didnt go expecting full english - bread, fruit, cakes, cold meats and cheese, yoghurt and boiled eggs. Every day! Finally, dont be afraid if you see any dogs wandering round the beaches - they are not dangerous and have been dumped there by greeks who have got bored with them and all they want is a crumb of food and a bit of attention (which I gave them every morning with the cold meat and cheese from my breakfast!). They are fed in the winter with porridge by a group of local greek women to keep them from starving when the tourists have gone. I would recommend this holiday for couples wanting to relax and be as near to the beach as possible."

Lovely hotel with brilliant staff
"We have just got back from our stay and we had a brill time, The hotel has everything you need to enjoy your stay at kalamaki especially if you are like us and want to explore your holiday destination and not just the hotel. This hotel is very reasonable for the price you pay, it is very clean and the staff make the hotel really something. the facilities they have on site are great, the swimming pool & children pool is very clean with a snack bar located next to it with easy listening music playing in the back ground, The taverna on the beach is very good you can sit and relax watching the sea drinking an ice cold glass of wine, the food served here is also tasty and cheap. cocktail bar is also very entertaining probably a good atmosphere there at peak season, good music nice cocktails. The breakfast room is nice you can sit out side and have you breakfast in the morning, Breakfast choice is limited but it is ok. The hotel room is basic but it has everthing you need to enjoy your stay at the hotel, the fridge is charged at 3euro per day but it's worth it to keep some alcholic beverages in to sip, on the balcony while you are getting ready to go out and sample the local restaurants and bars. The reception staff have a lot of time for you and we would definitly go back again, right next to the beach not far from the bars what else could you ask for."

"We have just returned from 2 weeks hoilday in the kalamaki beach hotel. When we arrived i was very excited looks great from the outside, we were then taken to our room which was very small and very basic, our balcony is the smallest i have ever seen. You then had to pay for air-con £50 for 2 weeks and then for the fridge and also the safe....!! when i went to reception they told me my hair colour was on their towels so could i buy my own to use... and also we moved the bed so it was under air-con and got told your not to move the furniture and also got asked to tidy my room the maid said it was too untidy. i felt like i was in boarding school. I did not find the staff that friendly they did not go out of their way to make you welcome. We booked our hoilday 6 months ago and paid good money for it everyone else there were on last min cheap deals and all had better rooms than us!! We were on bed and breakfast, the breakfast was rubbish it was soggy cereal and hot milk and it got put out early and just left there, no staff if you needed anything and the cups were dirty, then it was self service and you had to tidy up after yourself... there was no luxury there. there is no way this hotel is 4 star i would say about 2 star. The bar is meant to be open untill you got to bed but you are lucky if its open any later than 1am... The only good thing about the hotel is that it is close to the beach but once there you need to pay for sunloungers. i was glad to come home 2 weeks was too long. The pool area was a good size pool was very nice and you could always get a bed. i would not rush back...."

Fab holidays in Zakynthos....
"Just got back from fab holidays in Zakynthos.Stayed in Kalamaki beach hotel with my mum for one week. Before I booked this hotel I read as most of people reviews...they were generally good.Me personally I had no complaints at all,in fact I had great time there....the hotel is rated as 4 star and they deserve it.It's well situated right on a lovely long beach set in tropical gardens, lovely clean pool+pool for kids with free sunbeds and parasols. You pay for the beds on the beach 7 EUROS for a day but you pay everywhere no matter where you go,so why to fuss about it.The hotel is very clean, they cleaned our room every day,the stuff is very friendly too and helpful. We had breakfast only because we didn't want to be limited in terms of time to be back for lunch or dinner as we travelled a lot around the island. The breakfast was every day the same:selection of fresh fruit salad, bread, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, cakes, cornflakes, joghurt, tea, coffee, frut juices-I'm healthy eater and woudn't mind to see some vegetables too and possibly brown bread or muesli but i didn't go to Greece to eat but to explore the place.Plus it had been so hot that at least us we had no apetite. On the actual beach was a girl selling fresh fruit salad bowls for 3 EUROS each and we had them every day, they were delicious.Kalamaki hotel has got it's own Taverna with a seaview where you can enjoy nice meals and watch swimmers in the sea. The waiters are very friendly...all the locals are very friendly. If someone says the opposite,it's only because they have no attitude themselves and expect good treatment back. The hotel is situated 5 mins walk from the main road full of tavernas,bars,shops....the meals were delicious! There are also buses that take you to the capital which is nearby. It's a lovely bay town! You can also either hire a car to go around the island or take one of the daily trips they offer at the local travel agencies. We took the Top Cruise which is one day boat trip around the whole island. It was amazing! They stop at the famous stops:Shipwreck,Blue Caves,St.Nicolas beach.....you have time to swim in crystal clear water...never seen such a beautiful colour before. If you like water sports,go to St.Nicolas beach...there's a free bus that takes you there and for 8 Euros you get free sunbeds and transport there and back which is great as the journey takes about 25 minutes and it's surely worth to see that part of island too. It's child friendly island and it's great for every generation. Greeks are very lovely, warm, welcoming and they love kids(they always treated them with free ice creams, lollies etc..) If you are after Ibiza English style of holidays go to Laganas which connects with Kalamaki beach. We went there one eve just to see that part and was glad I didn't book some hotel there.Drunk young English everywhere behaving the way we all know and recognize all over the world. But the beach is lined with variety of tavernas and bars where we had lovely quiet meal and watched the sea glittered by full moon. So,over all,the holidays we had had been superb!!! No matter what is your intention:going to Greece to explore the real thing, try their cuisine, meet the locals or getting drunk, stuffed with burgers and fries in front of big plazma TV while watching football or Big Brother in one of the local bars, you will have great time because the locals will accept you and make you welcomed no matter who you are. However I believe if you are in the first group you receive far more! We met lots of nice Greeks wherever we went and always had free drinks and deserts wherever we ate or passed by. Have a lovely time there :)"

great friendly hotel in great location.
"this is a great hotel and really enjoyed my week here. its pretty much right on the beach so you can pop to and fro, for a dip in the sea without paying for sunbeds there. rooms are basic but clean. bedding and towels are changed every three days but rooms cleaned daily. reception staff are really friendly. only thing is you do have to pay extra to use air conditioning and fridge (we did need air conditioning as went there when there was a heat wave!) dont really need fridge as water is cheap to buy so might aswell buy daily. no cooking facitilites but breakfast was provided (allthough not a great choice-toast, cake!, bread, peachs and yogurt). short walk to the main road of kalamaki where all the restaurants are (plenty to choose from). laganas (clubby area) is about 20-25 mins walk away. would defiently stay again."
