Lovely Holidy at Zephryos
"Very pleasant hotel. We were in the newer of the three blocks. We had a spacious room with lovely sea views and a well-fitted bathroom. Good standard of cleanliness. Pool bar a bit basic but lovely large pool with good views. Breakfast adequate but breakfast room not very inviting so most people braved the wasps by sitting outside in the pool bar. Bar meals good, especially for lunches - sandwiches recommended, they are delicious as are the salads.
Walk into Skala a bit off-putting, definitely not for the less mobile. There is a rough track which is very steep but shorter than the new and easier tarmac road which takes about 20 minutes downhill. Taxis 5 euros to go back uphill.
Skala is a lovely relaxed resort, busy but not noisy. Not full of tacky tourist shops. Plenty of places to eat and all of a good standard. Very attractive beach backed by pine trees."

"We stayed in the Zephyros in the first year they opened and we had a fabulous time - in fact we returned the following year because we loved it so much and had such a good time. .Andreas and Vula work so hard to make .sure everything is perfect for a brilliant holiday. So much so that we are due to go back again in 4 weeks time and I can't wait to see Andreas' face when we arrive! If you want a relaxing holiday this is for you. The hotel is a clean, happy place and Skala is ideal if you want somewhere which is lively but not rowdy. The choice of restaurants is ideal - you can eat reasonably cheap or have a meal comparable to an upmarket restaurant in the UK.
Everyone we have ever met at the Zephyros has said they would love to go back so if you want a fabulous holiday, go there!
Forgot to mention that the island is beautiful too! Hire a car and you can do the island in a day but Sami and Myrtos are worth an extended look!"

fantastic, friendly, amazing views
"Myself and my husband stayed at the zephyros for a week in may 2007. we had a fantactic holiday Andraoss and his family are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. The location may not be ideal for everyone as it is at the top of a steep hill but those views do make up for that. our room was very comfortable and cleaned daily, the bar service was execellent the breakfast was very nice with fresh fruit and yoghurt, toast, fresh bread, juice and tea or coffee. Skala itself is a beautiful town and the locals are very friendly, we highly recommend The Scandinavian Restaurant the food and service is amazing. We are hoping to return in July. Loved Skala but the hotel...not really
"Kefalonia is a beautiful island and we spent two lovely weeks there, the only thing that spoiled our holiday was the hotel. I cannot say it was horrible but some things were unbelievable. Mostly it's about hygiene. Wouldn't reccomend tauching a shower curtain - filthy!!! Also there were dump marks all over the bathroom and the smell wasn't great either. Our room was never properly cleaned, even before our arrival. Dust was everywhere, all mirrors were grimey, towels (changed only twice a week), even though fresh, had some irremovable stains. There were some wires sticking out from behind the wardrobe. Breakfast was the same every single day with a very limited choice so you end up having the same for as long as you stay unless you choose to eat out. And it wasn't traditional greek breakfast either. If you want eggs any other than hard boiled you have to pay extra! But you have no choice if you reaaly fancy eggs and discover that the boiled ones are actually not fresh (it happened more than often). Fruit was also not always fresh. The dining area was not pleasant, you could eat outside but wasps were everywhere. Last day there was no staff at breakfast at all, the food quickly run out and we ended up just having tea!!! Or perhaps it's good as after the owner's mother left, there was just one person serving breakfast and it was the same person who cleaned rooms which is fine but the disgusting bit is that she would do these two things without even changing her clothes and wore them throughout the full 2 weeks. Maybe I am a little sensitive but surely you don't clean and serve food to guests wearing the same sweaty t-shirt and tracksuits especially when it's that hot??? We communicated our concerns to the rep but nothing has been done. This hotel has a marque of excellence award - don't believe a word of your Thomas Cook adviser; this is simply not true. Apart from a great location and fantastic pool, everything else was below average. And one more thing that we personally found very sad - they have this old dog on a chain behind their house desparately seeking attention and company but getting none. It just sits there all alone all day looking out for people. And at night it cries of desperation and lonliness. Kefalonia and Skala are beautiful but if you choose to go to Zephyros, you are overpaying, this hotel should not have 3 stars."

Hotel Zephyros - Yamas!
"This is a great place which for Greek standards is furnished brilliantly - and even has a bath in the bathroom, all be it a very small one! It is run by Andreas and his family (although his mum seems to keep the place running!)
The pool is fabulous with a small bar and good bar food.
Breakfast is simple but enough to keep you going.
The area is typical Greek with lots of great restaurants (try Symposium on the front) and a great beach (walk far down the beach, past the Piano Bar for quieter, sheltered spots).
I would recommend going to Sami for a day (where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed) even if its just for lunch by the waterside.
We hired a moped which was great fun - but just be careful on the roads with all the mad drivers!
Overall top place for a weeks relaxation in the sun."

Beautiful place - loved it!
"My Boyfriend and I went to this resort fo rthe first time last week, we stayed for a week, and we loved it. Its a beautiful resort, although the Transfer from the Airport was 1.5 hrs, it was well worth the ride! Andreas and his wife are so friendly and make you feel welcome. The hotel was spotlessly clean and the pools were pretty. To go to the Restaurants for dinner, its about a 10 minutes walk from the hotel, if that!! I had the holiday blues when we came home, the weather was just right, not too hot, we could sit in the sun all day, it was about 23/24 temp. Our Rep Mary was crackers, but so nice, and helpful. We have already said we would definitely go again. Everyone we met at the hotel were nice and friendly. If your looking for relaxation, chilled days and lovely food in the evenings and a low-key holiday, this is the perfect location."

Love the place
"Stayed for a week in september 2005, new hotel, very clean with a superb pool, and great views. Andreas, the owner will have you laughing all week. Recommend to anyone. A bit of a walk up a hill late at night, but so what, you're on holiday and does you good. We knew Andreas from when he worked at the Paspalis at the bottom of the hill. Well done keep it up, and we wish him and his wife great success."

"Stayed there for a week, lovely and quiet, a little of the beaten track, so would advise you hire a car if you intend to travel about, Greekstones were excellent. The hotel is relativly small but with a large pool and more than enough sun loungers. A well stocked bar that serves great snacks. Andreas is very friendly and his mum is a rock, she never stops working. Be sure to stay for the BBQ on the friday night, the food is first class. We stayed in room 202 which had mountain views but was great. Air con and safe is payable extra, but well worth it.
Never had a bad meal all week eating out in Skala, we tried amongst others:- Aquarius, Grill Taverna, Zorba's, Sirroco and by far my favourite the Noufaro. The capt's bar is a must, Monica is the atmosphere and entertainment!.
Myrtos is a must and is easy to get to,(with a car), and is a piece of heaven that fell to earth. Infact Kephalonia is just so beautiful, with secluded bays and coves, the sea is warm and clear. Can't wait to go back. It's not commercial but caters for everybody. If you're going to the island, enjoy!."
