"it was one of the best holidays ever not gonna lie! I'm quarter greek, so already know that greek people are so friendly, this includes all the staff at kefaloia palace. I really want to find out the name of the bartender who works in the main bar because he and the rest of the staff were so lovely. The food was amazing and the cleaners were brilliant. I will defiantly go back there soon!!!"

"Hotel was Ok. Rooms clean & average size, the electrics have a lot to be desired as we had 'on/off electrics a couple of times one in the evening whilst trying to get ready for dinner! food & restaurant was 'ok', the choice was repetitive and not that 'vast', especially for children, chips every night and/or pasta. The fish was lovely though and salad was good! The lack of fresh fruit was poor, apples and rock hard kiwi/pears were regulars but no bannanas, apricots or the like. The drinks at meal times were A JOKE! thimble sized glasses of wine-no joke! which resulted in you having to get up & down in order to obtain anything more than 25ml of wine for your meal. Our main issue was CHEESE, they for some reason sprinkle the strongest parmesan type cheese on EVERYTHING? Is this Greek?? having travelled throughout Greece I have never experience this!? I made a suggestion that they provide a bowl of the said 'cheese' and allow people to sprinkle for themselves should they wish to but was ignored, therefore many things were unedable for non-stinky feet cheese lovers, even tomatoes & potatoes at breakfast?! Leave OFF the cheese, its unnecessary and ruins lots of the food!
Bar staff nice & friendly..watch out for rude russians though..pushy at the bar!!"

"we stayed here for 7 nights on a chill out week the middle of september. friendly helpful staff who always had a smile on there faces. the food was always fresh and plenty of it. the rooms we very clean, clean bedding every day, however the pillows were awful, so lumpy! the beach was only a couple of mins away, very calm and safe for those with children. taxi to lixouri costs 10 euros each way but worth it for an evening stroll. entertainment was quite good, the guys worked hard to keep all happy. would definately go back, loved it!"

"Excellent family hotel with a lovely swimming pool and easy access to a beach just two minutes away. Exceptionally friendly staff who were always eager to please. We arrived late (around 10.30pm) and a hot meal was provided although the restaurant had been closed some time.
Accomodation was fairly basic but had all the features to make your stay comfortable. Good flat screen TV in the bedroom with BBC News, CNN, Eurosport and many others. Good sized balcony but bathroom was quite small.
Buffet food was very good with a large choice of dishes although food was sometimes a little on the cool side.
Had a programme of games throughout the day with live entertainment in the evening which was quite enjoyable.
The hotel is in a very quiet location with just a few beach tavernas down the road and this could be considered its main drawback. It would not be suitable for those wanting shops and other entertainment nearby. A car is essential so you can visit Lixouri and other parts of the island, but again because of its location you often have to catch a ferry to avoid a long drive around the gulf. There is a bus service into Lixouri but it was very infrequent and a little unreliable.
To sum up I would recommend this hotel to families with young children or to people wanting an away from it all holiday.

"As we were being moved to this hotel as our origional holiday had been canceled due to a lost contract we were very unsure as to what to expect, well what a fantastic holiday we had! No complaints what so ever. Accomadation, food, staff, entertainment, all 1st class, beautiful island! Entertainment staff went out of their way to please and provide for all ages throughout the day and night. resturant staff worked so hard to ensure a constant supply of fresh food.
As a party of 12 we arrived a couple of hours after dinner had closed, the kitchen staff had so kindly saved us all a 3 course meal to welcome us to the hotel, very very much appreciated!
Many holiday makers we met had been returning to Kefalonia Palace year after year, 1 couple had visited for 12 years!
We will certaintly be returning next year!!!!!!

"We stayed here in Sept 2007 for our Wedding & Honeymoon.
The hotel was clean & friendly (except for one rude receptionist all the other staff were great!). The food was well varied and very fresh. Men have to wear trousers for dinner which is quite nice as we felt we could all dress up for the evening!
We had a problem as soon as we got there - the bathroom flooded with sewerage (my wedding dress was hanging up in there to steam, luckily I had left it in it's bag!!!) but they sent someone out within a couple of hours to fix it and the cleaners came straight in to clean & freshen the place up. We had a couple of other problems, but everything was sorted out very quickly.
The 'family room' we had was a small room with 3 single beds in it, so as you can imagine having a 2 year old with us was not fun! He woke up everytime we went the loo or made a drink - we spent most evenings on the balcony!!
We wouldn't recommend this hotel after the 2nd week of September as they start to close up (1st week in October is the last week of the season apparently). They removed alot of the sun beds & chairs etc... There were 2 weddings on when we were there, one was a Greek Wedding which didn't start until about 10pm and went on until about 4am (loud music, dancing etc...) so there were a few complaints as you can imagine!
This is an ideal hotel if you don't want nightlife or restuarants. There are 2 tavernas on the beach but then there is nothing else except in the town of Lixouri which is about 5 miles away! A long walk!!! A taxi journey to Lixuori was between 5 & 8 Euros each way. The ferry across to Argostoli was 4 euros for a car & about 1 euro & 70c each person (each way) on top of the car price!! We drove all the way round most days as there was 4 of us and it worked out cheaper in fuel than the cost of the ferry but the ferry took 25 mins and the car journey took 50mins to an hour (nice scenery when driving & taking the ferry!).
Besides the distance from our friends & relatives in Lassi and the lack of nearby entertainment / restaurants the place was very good. The beach was only about 50 metres away and was really quiet at that time of year.
I can imagine there being more entertainment on in the hotel in high season as not much happened whilst we were there (a couple of quizzes & a game of bingo).
The pool was nice & clean and there was a pool bar which wasn't too expensive.
We'd give it 8/10 for the food, 9/10 for cleanliness and 4/10 for location. 8/10 overall.

"Kefalonia has been the best holiday so far. I loved every minute of it.

The rooms were clean, the hotel staff were really friendly and helpful and the hotel is situated approx. 5 minutes walk from Xi beach.

There are quite a lot of beach tavernas which you can go to during the day and if you really wanted to, you could go there in the evening as well.

During the afternoons, the hotel entertainment team put on 'pool games' for all ages. The activities included water-volleyball, races across the pool on surfboards and lots of other games. If you took part in the pool games, there was an opportunity to win a cocktail.

There were also activities out of the water too such as bowls, but if you are the sort of person who likes to have a relaxing holiday this is also the ideal place for you.

The weather in mid-summer is lovely and hot and you can sunbathe on the free deckchairs by the pool or you could head off to the beach.

In the evening, men had to wear trousers to dinner but after that, you can go back to the hotel room and change into something a lot cooler.

The evening entertainment was really good and I felt as if it involved everyone. They included a whole variety of things. In the early evening the hotel entertainers put on a mini disco for younger children to get involved too.

Some nights we had quizzes, on other nights it was karaoke and some evenings the hotel staff put a movie on a big screen outside for you to watch.

Kefalonia Palace Hotel was the best holiday I have ever had and I would definitely consider going there again."

"I have just got back from staying at week at this hotel with my boyfriend and I am feeling throughly depressed at having to come home as I had such a good time!!
All the staff were very friendly and made our stay thoroughly enjoyable. The hotel itself is about 6km from the town of Lixouri so its quite quiet and out of the way but this didn’t bother us as we knew this when we booked it and this is what we wanted. Its only about 8 euros to get a taxi into town and reception arranged this on request with no problems.
The beach is about a 2 min walk and is lovely but we prefered to stay by the pool as there were plently of sun loungers with umbrellas for shade if you want it and the pool bar serves excellent food. There was entertainment and games available during the day such as WATER GYM, darts, table tennis etc. You werent pressured to take part and it didn’t distract you from chilling in the sun if that’s all you wanted to do!
We liked the fact that you were allocated a table for your meals so you didn’t have to worry about finding somewhere to sit. The food was excellent and there was plently of choice, even for me and I am a fussy eater! On one of the days we had arranged an excursion and needed to leave at 6:20am. Normally we would have missed breakfast as it served 7 to 10am but they arranged a special early breakfast at 6am so we didn’t miss out!
The hotel bar was brilliant, and Terry who worked there had some really funny jokes to tell us! As for evening entertainment, there was bingo most nights, kareoke, the usual things you would expect. The best thing was the fire eating!! The guy that did it also walked on glass and then lay on it and had a guy smash a rock with a sledge hammer on his stomach!! It was amazing to watch!
If you are after a chilled out and relaxing holiday then this is the place to go!!"

i really enjoyed the evening entertainment, it was funny and you really felt as though you were involved, the greek dancing is amazing!
i also liked the fact that when you arrive your allocated a table in the dining room, this is a great idea as you can go to dinner whenever you want and you havent got to worry about wether there will be a table free!
the rooms are liveible for 1-2 weeks and everything you need is in there, also the beach is a 2-3 min walk and it is total paradise, just to let you know i have been on several holidays and when we left CPH i broke down into tears, that is the 1st time i have ever cried when leaving a holiday!
