"Loved it - 2 minute walk from the lighthouse, great base as it is between Lassi and Argostoli, approx 20 mins walk both ways, but we hired a car......The Galaxy Hotel staff were very welcoming, the room was a little basic but had air conditioning which was a huge bonus and they were cleaned every day, we had the room on the ground floor next to the bar but were never kept up with any noise. Breakfast was from 7am - 10am, and was very adequate, fresh bread, toaster, jam, honey, boiled eggs, ham and cheese, cornflakes, milk, fruit in syrup and greek yoghurt, fresh fruit, coffee and tea's from a drinks machine and they also had a tin of Nescafe out. The pool is saltwater and was very refreshing after a few hours in the very hot sunshine, a nice little area to get out of the sun if you wanted to, the BBQ on Thursday evenings is not to be missed, it was £15 euros each, make sure you don't eat to much salad before the meat comes around as you get a plate full, I couldn't eat most of mine! I would recommend a car for anyone going to Kefalonia as there is lots to see all over the island, first full day we went on a 3 island cruise which we booked with Keith the Medhotels rep who is very nice and has lots of knowledge regarding the island, we thought it was fantastic apart from the long sail back to port, we went from Fiskardo (north of the island which is a lovely quaint village not hit by the earthquake of 1953) and came back to Ag. Evfimia which is another little quaint village, we drove all over the island and I think it is beautiful, don't miss "Assos" which is not far from Mythos beach, and Antisamos beach not far from Sami, Drogarati cave was spectacular and there is a free swimming pool for all to use, but remember - no flash! inside the cave, pictures came out very well even so!

we loved this island so much that we are thinking of booking again for a bit later in the year, we are also looking at getting married next year abroad and may just get married in Kefalonia.

Wonderful holiday."

"My husband and I wanted a chill out relaxing holiday and its JUST WHAT WE GOT from the moment we arrived at this family run hotel who could not do enough for us. Rooms were cleaned every day and free air conditioning was a bonus, towels provided around the salt water pool and a pool bar serving drinks and snacks all day.

Only one negative; needed to provide cushions for sun loungers. Could walk or taxi into Lassi or Argostoli at night which was very reasonable, what more could we ask for.

We would DEFINITEY recommend the Galaxy and go again when we need a similar break.

"We enjoyed our stay at this basic yet comfortable hotel.

Great value for the money. However it is a little far from the town with no local bus. But we hired a car and also walked it a couple of times, there is a camp site a 5 minute walk away with a little shop where you can get essentials.

The reception staff were really great. One small problem was that my wife injured herself in the pool on a sharp edge. They were great in taking us to the hospital etc. But there was no accident book and they didn't seem to take any action to rectify the problem.

However we didn't let it spoil our time on this lovely island.

The breakfast was buffet and the orange juice a bit weak but plenty of choice if you didn't like it."

"Great value for money. I recently returned from a great week at the Galaxy.

The staff both front and rear of house ensure your stay is a pleasant one. The room was spotless with free air conditioning complete with a balcony.

Breakfast was good continental choice with lovely fresh bread. The pool was cleaned every morning and was kept spotless by the staff. Choice of lunches at the pool bar good value.

A walk of around 30 minutes down the pleasant winding pine tree clad Fanari or Romantic Road brings you into Argostoli. Around 40 minutes to Lassi where the nearest beaches are.

I would say this hotel is great for all mobile adults seeking rest and relaxation and who want to sleep at night.

I would not recommend this hotel for those with children or mobility difficulties. Great value for money."

"Just came back on 16th September, 2007 thought this was a lovely little hotel, the bread was soft and fresh every day, good continental breakfast and wonderful greek yogurt, the receptionist, Anya and Demetrius were so helpful it was unbelievable, the owner Yanis never stops working from 5am untill the last person leaves the lovely clean pool bar area. The pool is very clean with freshwater and showers at end of pool, Very clean all around the hotel, bathrooms a little tired, but clean, nothing too much trouble, although it is a bit of a way from the best beaches, the taxis are cheap and good restaurants in Argostoli and Lassi , on a beautiful strech of the coastline and around the bend to the famous romantic Theodores Lighthouse.Very quiet, and relaxing. Better than any other greek B n B's we have stayed in.Sheets and towels changed nearly every day.Bargain small hotel for price. Would go back again.Need transport to get around but can walk easily into Argostioli as it is along beautiful stretch of coastline and lit at nights, but take a torch as well."

"The staff are lovely and work extremely hard both front and rear of house to ensure your stay is a comfortable one. The air conditioning is at no extra charge. You even have shower curtains (most unusual for Greece.) The saltwater swimming pool is cleaned every morning and many an afternoon was spent swimming in it. Hot showers provided. Breakfast was great and
the lunches weren't bad either! The walk is around 40 minutes along the scenic pine tree clad sea view fanari route to Argostoli centre. In the opposite direction around 40 minutes to Lassi and where the nearest beaches are. I would recommend this hotel to mobile adults both couples and solo travellers who are looking for total rest and relaxation. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and family."

"We went to Lassi a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the Galaxy Hotel. I was really worried after reading the bad reviews on here from recent reviewers but was relieved to find out that it was absolutely nothing like what had been mentioned previously. The hotel is situated on a long winding road which travels along the coast - great scenery/views across the bay. It is a 25 minute walk to Argostoli and about 40 minute walk to Lassi itself. Both walks are really pleasant and I'm not sure why the last two reviewers were so suprised about this as the website clearly stated the distances from these two places. There is a fabulous taverna (The Sailor) about 15 mins walk towards Argostoli and there is a little supermarket on the campsite about 10 mins walk away so I don't know what the problem was for the other reviewers. We tended to walk into town for dinner and got a taxi back to the hotel (only because our bellies were full - it wasn't too bad walking back from Argostoli as the road is quite well lit). The hotel itself is of the type you would expect for the money you pay. Basic rooms, but with air con, telephone, TV, balcony, enough room for two. The hotel was spotless - never seen such a clean floor. There was no rotting fruit, no rats, only a cute kitten that popped out every so often but she didn't bother anyone as she was too timid. The pool bar was great - cold cold beer , fab red wine and offered a basic range of snacks - greek salad (huge for 4 euro), club sandwich with chips (4.50 euro). On Thursday there was a BBQ which cost 15 euro and was fantastic - tons of meaty stuff, salad, tzatziki, chips, bread etc. Yannis the owner stays up until everyone gets home safely and the rest of the staff are really lovely and friendly. The breakfast was a typical continental brekkie - loads of lovely soft bread, cheese, ham, eggs, jams, honey, orange juice, tea and coffee - even cornflakes for those poor british folks that are too mardy to eat like the locals do. The pool was salt water so make sure you shower (hot water) after you swim, normal sunbeds and umberellas. Great place to read a book and top up the tan. So, all in all a fab little basic hotel if you don't mind a bit of a walk for your entertainment. I would highly recommend it."

3* - i dont think so!

"I would just like to back up Annie of Stafford. Can someone please tell me how this hotel managed to get a 3* status??? I brought my mother (who has recently undergone a major cancer operation and wanted a relaxing break in the sun, my two children and my youngest's friend. We arrived to find that the hotel was by far a long long way from any beach (the bit of sand that appears when the tide goes out, doesn't count for a beach in my book - and is covered in beer cans and crisp packets anyway ((due to the tide)). Long beach and Wide Beach area at least 4km from the hotel and there are no restaurants/bars within walking distance - unless you are happy to walk for an hour to get there. I was appalled at breakfast - stale bread, curled up meat and cheese and covered in flies. The lift is and by the looks of things has been out of action for some years, and the stairway banister wobbles all over the place - clearly not fixed properly. The rooms have air conditioning but the hotel does not. There is a reception desk at the end of a large room space - this is called the breakfast room/tv room/ Internet cafe/ reception. There are no cocktails at the pool bar and my youngest cut his foot 3 times in one day (about 3 hours) in the swimming pool due to the worn out grouting between the tiles and the patio area is over grown with weeds bursting through the tiled area. The pool wasn't cleaned once in our 3 day stay (before we removed ourselves from this 'hotel' and relocated) Oh sorry, the owner does leap into the pool at the end of the day and collect any random leaves in a plastic bag. The boys daren't open their patio doors as there was a huge birds nest in the light and a wasps nest stuck to the shutters - in addition the key that was provided to lock the patio doors doesnt fit as there is no lock fitted. All in all, this hotel was clearly built a long time ago and has received no modernisation since. Oh by the way, in case you hire a car, there is a small area at the front of the hotel to park - i think this is termed as a 'large parking area'."

"Two Fanastic Weeks In Pretty Kefalonia, 26/06/07 to 10/07/07. Upon our arrival we collected our hire car and headed for the Galaxy Hotel, the hotel is situated along the fanari scenic route so car hire is recommended if you want to discover the beauty of this island, Myrtos Beach, Sami, Fiscardo, Assos and many more places to viist, When we arrived we were given a warm reception and we settled in to our room with lovely aircon { at no extra charge!!! } The rooms are cleaned daily and linen and towels changed every other day. We soon discovered that this is a family owned hotel after many late nights at the pool bar with Yanni the owner [who never sleeps and has many stories to tell on the history of the island] He is a lovely man who cant do enough for you to make your stay with them enjoyable, his son Demitri is also very friendly and we recommend you sample the bbq on a thursday, home made kebabs, burgers and tatziki mmm delicous. Another must is Le Greco a wonderful resturant in argostoli its just off the main square near the hotel Mirabel. This is our fourth visit to the island in the last 10 years and if you've never been we highly recomend that you do."
