"This is a lovely clean and extremely friendly hotel in one of the most stunning locations on Kefallinia. We had a ground floor room with a terrace. The room wasn't particularly big, but it was clean and the aircon worked! All the staff are very, very pleasant, room was cleaned daily, towels and bed linen changed every two days. The pool area was clean and tidy, sunbeds a little hard(so buy a cheap lilo)but plenty of space to spread out which was nicer than being on top of one another. Breakfast was adequate, bread, jams, cereals, cakes, boiled eggs - Nikki would be happy to cook you something more for a small charge if requested. Tavernas all good. Bus only runs in high season so car hire recommended. We used Star villas in the village for car hire - would use again. Good snorkeling from beach just across the road. We also used Kefalonia Travel in the village for a boat trip to Ithaca - would recommend - cheaper than tour operaters. Only downside is we had to come home!!"

The Gonatas has a beautiful location ove...
"The Gonatas has a beautiful location overlooking the Bay of Samos, Ithaca and the Kefalonian mountains. It is absolutely spotless and so welcoming that you are made to feel part of the family and it is very much a family run business. Nicky the owner's daughter speaks English very well and is extremely helpful. The pool is lovely.
In front of the hotel, though scarcely visible, is a very quite road beyond which there are steps down to a lovely pebble beach in a cove. The hotel itself has a lovely pool.
Be aware that the provided sun beds do not have cushions and that the breakfast is a basic Greek breakfast not the normal continental breakfast. Nicky will freshly cook any breakfast you like for a couple of euros.
This year the hotel only provided food up to 5 pm though this was of a very high standard, very reasonably priced and came with a free half litre of wine per couple.
Aghia Efimia is absolutely beautiful though you need to hire a car to visit the rest of the island. I would recommend emailing Greek stones for car hire. There are boat trips from the village though cheaper, and better, trips are available from Sami on an authentic cacique called the Sami Star. Kefalonia is wonderful for a quiet holiday in a beautiful and friendly island.
There are lots of places to eat in the village. Next door is the Paradise Beach which is excellent with a superb chocolate soufflé. Others I would recommend are Perasmo on the quay, Pergols up the Argostoli road and Maki;s on the Sami road at the far end of the village.
