"the hotel rooms need a bit of work.very clean.alex is a very nice straight talking guy who will help you in any way he can.not a good location if you have trouble walking.a few elderly people struggled to walk into the main part of the resort.

"I chose this location and accommodation fairly randomly but knowing I wanted a traditional Greek apartment this is where I opted for.No disappointment just joy at finding it to be exactly that with the added extra of a fantastic host (Alex)and beautiful location.Anyone not falling in love with this place have chosen something not right for them rather than the place not living up to expectations.Don't ever change Alex"

Great value for money
"We have just returned from a two week holiday, and we have had a most relaxing holiday, yes some reviews said the apartments were basic, maybe but ours was clean and sheets and towels changed twice a week, plenty of choice when it comes to eating and drinking in the resort, for the price we paid for this budget holiday we could not complain, we were not expecting much for the price we paid but we were more than happy, as the pool area was lovely and quiet, some days there was only 2/3 couples around the pool, if you are on a budget my advice go"

If you have a choice, dont choose the alexander beach hotel
"It's interesting that the last review was in sept 2009. If this review was accurate. Things have changed. We chose this hotel based on the reviews so I think that it's important that you know what the place is like now.
It is not clean. Our wardrobe smelled of urine and although we brought this to light, nothing was done. The beds are very hard and take a bit of getting used to. Everthing in the apartment had seen better days. The door took a lot of negotiation to open and the bathroom door wouldn't close. The drain was blocked with the former residents hair. The loo brush was filthy. The 'shower' was a bath attachment stuck to the wall. It really was grim. The only good thing was the balcony and it was reasonably quiet.
St George South is a relaxing place to visit. The Makis restaurant is the best place to eat and Spiros on the beach does a fun Greek night. It's a nice place to go, but do yourself a favour and choose another hotel."

First & last time!
"The owner & his family were lovely, but the rooms were attrocious - no air conditioning and small, but worst of all FILTHY. The apartments looked like they had been built in the 70's & not been touched since. The pool & bar are obviously new additions, but feel the accommodation let our whole holiday down. The Olympic rep was useless & made us feel like we were making a mountain out of a molehill, even when I pointed out our son has asthma. The area itself is ideal for familiesas it is quiet & there were plenty of restaurants to choose from & we never had a bad meal. Mad Mike's breakfasts are worth a trip! The Balcony Restaurant was our best evening meal & I have to say also our least expensive."

The best holiday...
"After reading conflicting reviews prior to our holiday, we did not know what to expect upon arrival. However, our expectations were greatly exceeded!
The rooms were basic but very clean and comfortable with a good sized balcony and excellent value for money. If you expect 5 star rooms then book a 5 star hotel!
The best feature has to be the hotel owner, Alex along with his wife Helena and their baby daughter. They made our stay very welcoming and extremely fun! A good selection of snacks are available at the pool side throughout the day at reasonable prices. The pool itself was spotless, a good size and never over-crowded and Alex even provided some lilo's for the guests to use.
The location was fantastic and St. George itself is a beautiful, quiet area of Corfu sporting a fantastic beach with water sports and activities available. There were many restaurants within a short walk of Alex's, all serving traditional Greek dishes. Our favorite by far was The Balcony restaurant. Demetris, the owner, was very welcoming and the food was of outstanding quality and value.
If you are wanting to participate in excursions, use local companies as they are so much cheaper for the same trips.
We could not recommend Alexander Beach Hotel enough for people looking for a peaceful and relaxing holiday with out vast expenses."

could be better
"In 20yrs of holidaying in Greece(all in basic studios) these are the shabbiest and dirtiest we have ever encountered. Potentially they could be really nice as this part of the resort is quieter and the balconys are large with a good open aspect. The pool and bar area is good and just the right size for the accommodation. Alex, who runs the bar and studios (probably the owner) is friendly and serves snacks and drinks until 7pm. The studios are very small and in need of a complete refurbish especially the kitchen and bathroom areas. The taps were green mouldy, doors and handles dirty, wall tiles cracked and stained. There seemed to be only one cleaner who did her best in the hot conditions and time allowed. She came in 6 days a week and made the beds and tidied rooms but with over 20 rooms to do she obviously didnt have time to actually clean. Heaven help people going at the end of the season! The restaurants are varied in quality. We found the best by far was the Balcony. Excellent greek food and grills and Demetrius and his staff very helpful and friendly. Not so good was the Seagull, beautiful setting but the worst mixed souvlaka Ive ever had. The meat was so tough it was uneatable. We also tried Takis (so-so ) Zaks(good but bit more expensive) and Spiros ( ok and friendly) Stomatis bar is good with Berlin beer at 2 euro a pint and we also had very good breakfasts at the Sunset bar. Both have lovely views over the beach. I unfortunately got a stomach bug that was going round so didnt get to try the Panarama which also seemed popular. So please Alexander refurbish and then I would give you 5 out of 5!"

Great value for money
"My wife and I stayed for 10 days and were really pleased with this hotel. It's in a really good location at the quieter end of a quiet resort - no clubbing teenagers who all descend on Kavos.
The rooms were basic, but were cleaned everyday by really friendly staff and the fidge and shower both worked although they had seen better days. The public areas, especially the pool, were all spotlessly clean and the owner, Alex, is a bit of a one-man show. He is a bit stretched at times so don't expect speedy service. For most of the time we were there it was relaxed and peaceful, with mostly British couples as guests.
The resort has a lot of inexpensive bars and tavernas and the locals are all eager to please - the beach and sea are truly excellent. Not a luxury hotel, but if you are on a budget, this is a really good place to go.
Book the trips through the local tourist offices - exactly the same as the tour compant but cheaper.
Watch out for the mosquitos!"

spartan but clean & friendly
"rooms very basic and a bit tired (shabby) we stayed in a 2 bed studio with 2 beds! 2 electric rings to cook on 2 plates 2 bowls 2 mugs and 2 sets of cutlery 1 frying pan 1 saucepan 1 kettle. Rooms were kept clean and beds made every day linen changed approx every 3 - 5 days We greatly missed the facility to make toast. Bathroom/ wet room was small and you had to hold the shower head by hand. Alex the owner was a dab hand at the English breakfast ( 5â¬) he was very friendly and eager to please bar snacks available throught the day but as he works on his own the bar closed at approx 7pm. a 10 min walk twill take you to the beach and the main strip of shops &tavernas. a quiet resort I would recommend a car to see around."

amazing place and gorgeous people
"We booked our holiday based on affordability and we were so thrilled with the Alexander Beach Hotel! The location is brilliant and central to the main drag of tevernas and cafes. The beach is sandy but has large rocks as you go further into the sea. The hotel room itself was basic but spotlessly clean and really comfortable - literally somewhere to lay your head. Alex, the owner, was a gem! He was a brilliant host. Recommendations are Balcony restaurant (everything on the menu is delicious and the view and service are exceptional) and Cosy finger food bar for fantastic coffee and great service (we wnt almost every evening and on our last night we were given a giant waffle with ice cream as a goodbye!!) Would go back in a flash!"
