32 Traveller reviews from Holiday Watchdog
"I read all the reviews before booking so thought the wave sounded nice, when we arrived nicos greeted us with a glasof fresh orange juice sat overlooking the sea, the family are really friendly and the apartments are situated in lovely grounds with a short walk to the bridge then you are almost in the main street. Unfortunately thats where the good bit stops, the apartments are that basic you dont have anywhere to eat a meal ( luckly we eat out all the time ) the toilet seat was cracked, the rubber bath mat on the floor was fithly, the shower was tiny and we had to mop the floor with towels after every use, and the grout was full of mildew. In the kitchen the cooker was ok you even get a tea towel the plug did not fit the sink. In the bedroom we got a double bed with pillows what where that lumpy and hard it was sleeping on a sack of coal the bedding was fresh smelling but was stained. When we arrived we had to ask for towels after that we had loads whenever the room was cleaned we where given more but the old ones where left also, the towels were all stained and they must have been what other guests had left because they were all odd beach towels. The room was not swept or mopped once while we stayed for 2 weeks, i would have done it myself but there was no brush or mop to do this, one day after the cleaner had been and a toilet roll and towels i had to make the bed and put the bins outside to be emptied as they were overflowing. We did try the food and it was nice, but i could not enjoy because of the wasps, so we went for breakfast at memories on the main street everyday it was excellent and our evening meals we had in kavadias over the bridge on your way to the main street excellent food and good value very friendly also, the crossroads pub on the corner of the main street was only â¬1.50 pint of local beer and music fromthe sixties and seventies. Be careful if you go into corfu town the prices are more than double for drinks â¬5 pint of local beer. If you book any trips the booking office opposite the three brothers hotel is a little dearer than the others only by a â¬1 but worth it the brand new coaches are fully air con and really comfortable. I personally would not go back unless it was totaly revamped"

Warm Welcome, Relaxing Stay
"The family who run The Wave made us feel very welcome - even though we arrived after midnight as a result of a late transfer. The rooms were good, the pool lovely and the food great. The location is on the sea front, and although it's a little walk away from Sidari centre, this means it is peaceful and a great place to watch the sunset."

Simply the Best, Moira Murphy
"I am tempted to say stay away, dont go , just to keep this fabulous resort a secret, but I cant, because it is simply the best holiday I have in years!! I visited Sidari 23 years ago , and returned again this year with my partner . Nicos and Kristos and the family made us feel so welcome, we felt like we were leaving home when we left Waves and returned to England. The family run business is a perfect place to visit , it has great food ,service with a smile ALL the time, and the most relaxing atmosphere ever! The accomodation provides for all your needs, and is cleaned daily, and the secluded situation of the pool, whilst being only metres from the beach, allowed for very peaceful days just relaxing.I'm not waiting another 23 years to go back, we are hoping to book in for next September. (if its not already booked up! )"

Would go back
"After being told loads of "amazing" places by holiday reps then looking on here to see that they were "the holiday from hell" we booked a last minute one which luckily enough was this place. We arrived very early in the morning and room was left ready for us. Comfortable rooms with a balcony, fridge and cooking utensils. we stayed on the ground floor and could literally roll over to get to the pool! perfect! Beach, is as promised on the doorstep. everyday the room was cleaned and mopped by (i think) the mother. Really friendly family run place with excellent food and drinks both very cheap for what you get. our flight back was late night so for an extra 15 euros we kept the room till 7pm and left our bags in the bar. only thing i would suggest is take little nappy bags as you cant flush on the island. the bin in the bathroom however was emptied daily.
10 minute walk into sidari along the sea front where all the main pubs and shops are. even though its a secluded place we felt safe walking back to the hotel late at night. the people there are so friendly. would go back tomorrow if i could!!"

"The hotel was nice, the staff is very helpful and pleasant and the Mama's food is wonderful. The hotel is located on the coast in a quiet part of town, just a few minutes walk from the main tourist streets of Sidari. An ideal place for peaceful and quiet holiday. Only the owners might consider to put TV in rooms. I honestly would recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful and relaxed holiday"

The Wave does it again
"My family and I visited the Wave, and not for the first time. This is the 8th or 9th time we've been and the service just gets better. Nikos and Christos are now and have been firm friends of all the family, and will remain so for a long time to come. The food is of such a high standard, you will struggle to find better anywhere on the island. There is nothing the boys can not do or arrange for you, with obvious exceptions.
Our party included my father who is 74, and has been visiting The Wave since 1988, and the youngest, my grand daughter age 3, both had a wonderfull time, and we all felt relaxed and refreshed at the end of our holiday.
Thanks again boys, and all my best t the family."

small, only 19 rooms and very peaceful
"The position of the studios was perfect, approximately 20 minutes walk from Sidari. The walk is along the seafront road and there are not many other buildings on the approach to the accomodation, so it is very tranquil, with just the sound of the sea. The accomodation is very basic, but this is what you get when in greece. There was a nice restaurant and bar and the family were very nice. You could get a sunbed and parasol at any time of day. As we were on the ground floor we could walk out of our studio with a cup of tea, across the garden to the pool.
In Sidari we found a nice restaurant at at reasonable price. We did find the supermarkets quite expensive, even those on the edge of town which we were told were cheap.
All that said, we just loved the holiday, and it was the accomodation that made the holiday for us."

"This was my second time in Sidari and at the waves hotel. I had an amazing time both times. The apartments at the waves are basic but everything you need is there and they were always clean. Fanny the maid does an excellent job and is very friendly. The pool at the waves was always clean and sunbeds were always available. The menu has a wide variety of meals and the cooking is absoulutley brilliant. Mama does a great job!! Try the mousakka it is delious. The two lads who run the bar are the best!! Nothing is a problem for them and they are always happy to see you and really made our holiday that extra bit special. Thanks Nikos and Christos. If you want a relaxing or fun holiday the waves is defintly the place to be. I will defintly be back there to see the whole family again. "

One to Book
"My partner and I stayed at the Wave apartments in August 09 although the rooms were basic they were clean with fresh towels everyday supplied by Fanny, sheâs a treasure.
The boys in the bar and restaurant were so helpful, polite and done all they could to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
They helped us with car hire and then planned the route so we could find the best beaches-they couldnât have been more helpful.
Mamaâs cooking was really the best meals we had as the meals in the town were more like fast food than original Greek cuisine and the Waves was actually cheaper!!
On our last night as a surprise my partner Martyn, with the help of the boys arranged a beautiful dinner with champagne, nothing was too much trouble.
So a big thank you to all at âThe Wavesâ we will come again

"We arrived mid afternoon and received a warm welcome from Nikos and Christos and were shown straight to our very clean room. The room was basic but had everything we needed including a nice terrace overlooking the gardens and plenty of space.
On the first night we pushed out 2 single beds together in an attempt to make a double and after Fanny (the cleaner) had been in the next day she magically transformed this into a full double by filling in the gap and using larger sheets and duvets! Fanny cleaned the room every day, she provided clean towels every other day and even hand picked a flower from the garden and put that into our room!!
Nikos and Christos were always happy to see us and more then willing to help in anyway, especially teaching us he basics of speaking Greek! Mamma and Pappa were also always on the scene and very welcoming. Mamma cooks great traditional food that was better than most of the restaurants in Sidari.
The centre of Sidari it's self was a gentle 10min walk along the coastline where you can find the busier bars, but a trip back to the waves was a must every night for a nightcap!
you could tell this was a family run business and you received the little touches that come with this in what was a great holiday for us!
Would reccomend this place to anyone an will deffinately be back!"
