This Hotel should get much more credit !
"Just returned from the monika,
Location is great right on the sea front and not to far from the strip. The food is really good and cheap prices.
The staff were really nice people and really friendly. The swimming pool was one of the best were been to good size and deep.
Rooms were very basic and wouldnt recommend this hotel if you were actually going to use the self catering.
There is a problem with mosquitoes but if you come prepared your be fine !
Sidari is a great place loads to do really good buzz about the place lovely food, good weather and great people the perfect holiday !
Would come back tomorrow !
A Holiday is what you make of it after all !"

"stayed in the Monika Apartments for just a week with a group of 13
The location is absolutely brilliant, you can walk out of the hotel and be on the beach in less than a minute, plus, it's an ideal location, close enough to the nightlife without it being noisy. Furthermore, there are two supermarkets minutes from the hotel, and plenty of bars and restaurants around
The service we received was excellent, the bar staff were very very friendly, to the point where they were asking us for games of pool and watching the world cup with us! There didnt seem to be a problem too big for them and were brilliant
now my only criticism would be the rooms. The beds were, quite frankly, uncomfortable, though after coming back at 4 in the morning i must say it wasnt a huge concern, though waking up to a baking room isnt comfortable (air con is an optional extra, a MUST!!!)
If you're considering the Monika apartments, then definitely give them a try. The atmosphere of the place and the friendly staff definitely added something to our overall holiday"

"What a holiday destination, right on the beach, one street away from the main strip, pleanty of places that serve good priced and very tasty food. The hotel is really good, large and quiet and had everything we could need, the pool was quiet of a day which was lovely then we would head to the beach for the afternoons. Its a very laid back hotel and area for that matter the perfect place if you would like to relax. We did the day trip to the water park which was fantastic i would def say its worth a visit. I would happily return to this hotel."

cold water in the sun.
"I have stayed here before, so decided to go again. We arrived early morning, shown to our room by a person that last year was holiday rep, who now it seems is the manager, that is until we told him that we had not had a warm shower for a few days, we were told it was not his problem, and to report it to the rep, because we have been to this area before, we knew who the owner was, so we explained our dilema as best as we could, as our greek isnt fluent and she didnt speak english, but we got there in the end, like magic, she was on the phone, a tanker arrived like magic, along with a plummer, the problem got sorted, the owner was very apologetic. i explained to her son-in-law the response that we got from the barman/manager,and that i didnt like him turning his back on me, again apologies, but not from the ignorant barman, after this inccident it seemed that the barman/manager preffered to ignore us,but that was ok we had very hotwater"

"we have just returned from a week at monika. its in a nice quite location not far away from the main strip. it takes about 5 to 10 mins to walk to the main strip with a few nice tavernas on the way. The beach is not far away just across the road. if you want sunbeds tho you will need to walk just a little bit about 5 mins where the slightly better part of the beach is, or you can go a little bit further and there is another bay also. there are plenty of nice places to eat near by all at a good price dorotheas corner was very nice, el greco, athena taverna, paradise restaurant, also just behind the church off the main street was pizza ramanor (evas place) which was very nice the pizzas are lovely but they also do many other things. There are lots of bars and plenty to keep you busy at night. The hotel its self was kept very clean the staff are all very friendly and had a great pool and pool bar area which had some entertainment at nights. the greek night was good. The food at the hotel was quite good to basic menu but at good prices. A full english breakfast for 4 euros just the thing to start your day.. We enjoyed our stay at monika we had a nice quite relaxing week which is just what we wanted, but there is plenty to do if you want to."

"Me and my partner have just returned from a week at the Monika Apartments in Sidari we are 19 and 20 after something relaxing but lively of an evening.
The flight went well and we were met by our Olympic Rep who was very nice but when we first arrived at the apartments we were initially a bit disappointed, we were shown to our room which looked very small we were on the ground floor and I opened up the shutters out on to our terrace, we had a view or a half built building and a ditch (apparently and irrigation ditch), which people were working on. I went in to the bathroom and the toilet was leaking slightly at the bottom and the shower was hanging off the wall. As you can imagine after a 2 hour transfer and flight we were tired and not very happy.
We walked in to the town, and looked around the bars, it is only 10 mins walk from the accommodation to the main strip,We walked down to the beach and be warned, if you are beach lovers this is NOT the place to go although in the description it says the beach is directly opposite the accommodation, it is a small stretch of sand of the road where there are no sun beds and looks a bit grimy, the main beach is a further 10/15 mins walk and again not very nice, it is dark sand and quite dirty! We werenât to bothered as the pool area was quiet so we could sit around the pool every day.
The next day we went to the rep meeting, we booked a trip and asked about a room change we explained about the room and the rep said he would look in to it, half hour later he came over and said we could move room which we really appreciated. The other room was much nicer.
Eating out was nice there were some nice restaurants in town all very reasonably priced, the best is The Olympic close to the beginning of the strip, the service is great and has a lovely Greek atmosphere with Greek dancing and music every night. Also Sea Breeze was lovely although service not as friendly, these two were busy every night and i can understand why. For something a bit more English the BED bar is fab, very similar to TGI Fridays i would say, but you can still get Greek food, they did some good entertainment and quizzes where the prizes were excellent.
The food at the hotel bar was also nice and very reasonably prices as where the drinks and cocktails, cheaper than in the town! Staff friendly.
We also went on a trip to Palekastista which is lovely I would defiantly recommend a visit, it has 3 small sandy coves and lots of small Tavernas, we booked this through a travel shop in town and it was a bargain only 6 Euros each for the coach (45 min Trip) then we got a glass bottom boat around the caves for another 7 Euros pp. excellent value for money!
All in all we had a lovely time, and would consider going back, be prepared for the simple accommodation, not a good beach but i always say a holiday is what you make it! and we had a great time."

a great holiday
"Myself and my partner got back from sidari yesterday and had a fantastic time.
we were slightly concerned as some of the comments weren't great and we had never stayed in a 2* resort before.
The Hotel: Very nice hotel, fantasic location, quite, just a min walk to the beach and a short walk into the centre of town. vengelli (the manager) was very friendly the rest of the staff were quite quiet. the rooms are very basic but clean, our bathroom shower curtain was a bit dirty tho :/. we had a lovely view of some hills on our balcony. the breakfast was again basic you just get toast and jam, but you can pay for a cooked breakie for 2euro's. the only bad points i have is that we had two towels a t-shirt and a some swimming shorts were stolen off our washing line in the middle of the night. the manager knew this and did not tell anyone at the start of the week. and the Olymic rep did nothing.
Waterpark: (Aqualand) I can honestly say this is the best waterpark iv been to in years loads of slides and loads to eat and drink. but you should def go on transfer days which are mondays and fridays as the cue's are half the size and its easy to get a sun bed. Also anytrips that u want to do make sure you book them independently because we payed 22europp with return coach to the waterpark from a shop in sadari, the rep was charging 35europp.
Places to eat: loads of places to eat and drink. let me start by saying that if any place brings over bread its not free!! we got charged 4euro's for bread on the first day. rip off!
We went to a different place every night most back on to a beach, we loved two places, first one was called oasis, its out of town a bit but the quality and portion size was great. and the second was the magic wok a chinese which had great food and nice sunset views. and you have to try kelly's ice house they are down a side street, we made good friends with them all and because we went in there everyday they gave us free water and milkshakes etc, the do amazing crepes and waffles.
Beaches: i personally was slightly disapointed at the beaches i was thinking white sands and crystal clear sea but it did not live up to my expectations. sidari is not very good for snorkling, and when we did find a nice place the fish were all the same type and colour. the sea was quite walm tho and great to cool off in. you have to swim through the cave at canel da moore.
Overall: sidari was a lovely place to visit and i may go back oneday, im sure you will have a great time."

A small hotel in a good position
"Monika is a small hotel in a good position. Our room on the first floor had a beautiful view as it overlooked a river and also had a sea view which made it lovely to sit out on our balcony. The weather was extremely hot and although our room had air conditioning there was a charge for it of 25 euros a week. Also you could hire a fridge for the same amount. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. Breakfast was quite nice (two pieces of toast and jam, croissant , cake, orange juice and coffee or tea.) The rooms were kept clean, with plenty of toilet paper provided, but were let down by infrequent towel changes and bed linen not changed until we asked after 8 days and then sheets etc not up to standard. The swimming pool and pool area is very nice with plenty of chairs and umbrellas. Television in room (music channel, shopping channel and old movies in English) No telephone in room or facilities for tea or coffee . Several eating places close by and about a fifteen minute walk to main eating and shopping area. Beach close to hotel."

The best place we have stayed
"We have just come back from our second year at Monika. Again we found the owner, her family and staff welcoming. It was so nice to be remembered and greeted like friends. Our apartment was lovely and kept clean daily, offering everything you need for a place to stay, whilst you enjoy all that is offered at Monika (great food, pool, bar etc) and out in Sidari.
We have stayed in other places in Sidari, (this being our 8th year)Monika is the best by far. We will be back to Monika in 2014.
There are mosquito's on Corfu. A tip was learned was to use Avon skin so soft body lotion (i use the oil) the mosquito's hate it, i didn't get bitten. Also for the males, you can by good spray in local shop, in yellow can (used to be called Au tan in England), costing about 7.50 euro, it lasts a long time and works. "
