a nice spot
"just back from a week at Elizabeth Apartments, Roda on a Thomson holiday, 3rd June 2013. We are an over 60s couple who've had many enjoyable holidays in Greece and so we know what to expect. The complex is nice, 3 small blocks in lawned grounds off an unmade side road,3 mins walk to the sea front,5 to Roda and 35 along the sea front to Acharavi. It's a nice spot actually. Plenty of sunbeds,a good sized pool and a large covered bar area. Apartments are OK, but smaller than average. Light on cutlery, no chopping board. Cleaners came in twice. We were greeted OTT and given the Thomson welcome pack by a chap called Costa; nothing was going to be too much trouble. Next day I told him that the sink plug in the bathroom was missing and the kitchen one was a different size. For some reason I decided not to buy any drinks at the bar until he'd replaced it. He never did, so I reckon it cost him about 50 euros in lost takings. Entertainment most nights, bingo or quiz - not as bad as it sounds, fairly low-key. All that changed on the third night after the Greek dancers left. They proceeded to play dance music at stupendous volume through a powerful PA system until 12.45 pm. Even with the double glazed patio doors and shutters closed we couldn't even read, never mind sleep. I could take no more and went down to ask him to turn it down, which fortunately he did. I say fortunately because I was ready to heave the rig into pool. Would I recommend this place? If you don't mind noise and you like bar-cliquing then yes. If you idea of a Greek holiday is guaranteed quiet evenings on your balcony with a bottle of wine and a book, then bed before midnight, definitely not. "

"Had another brilliant holiday at the Elizabeth Apartments again this year. Idylic -would sum it up for me! The apartments, like all Greek apartments, are quite basic but spacious and always clean. We usually ask for the annex which is situated just to the side of the main complex in beautiful, peaceful gardens. Unlike most places we've been to there are always sunbeds available in the beautiful gardens surrounding the pool. The pool bar is very nice serving everything you could want at reasonable prices. Costas and all the staff are really nice and welcoming and always happy to help. Would recommend this to anyone."

Worst Appartments Ever
"Just got back from spending 2 weeks at the appartments from hell. The rooms were very basic, beds hard, cleaning non existant,I dropped a piece of paper under bed on the first night,it was still there 2 weeks later !! Staff very rude and dissinterested if you did`nt drink at their bar. The worst thing was the noise of the bar, basic entertainments started at 10 pm and did`nt finish until the last drunken guest left usually about 1am,no concoderation was given to the other guests as long as they were selling their drink !! The worst was yet to come, due to the unclean rooms both my wife and I were ` Eaten ¬ alive by the tiny ants which were living in our room. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy"

Some of Staff were nice
"This was one of the worst holidays ever, the rooms were very basic when you finally managed to get into them, the staff asleep when we arrived. Some staff nice and polite but very hostile towards you if you have too much fun for not spending in the bar. i would definately recommend Roda and if you have children Nemo bar is really good and fantastic hospitality but I would strongly recommend not staying at these apartments. You are unable to have water by the pool and staff are very rude if you do. Complained when I came home as no entertainment even though advertised in brochure and something I looked for first when booking. The cleaner is lovely and has a hard job, but towels are not provided as advised and neither are blankets, we didn't even get a cot. Would recommend First choice as rep fantastic and sorts things out, just definately not this site, as they are not vey child friendly which suprised me "

"Rooms are very basic, but you don't go on holiday to stay in your room!! Costa and co are lovely people the pool service is fab and the whole atmosphere is just sooo relaxing.there are more sun beds than people and you are sitting in gorgeous gardens looking at mountains not cncrete!! Roda is lovely along the front but didn't think much to the town. Would recommend the Roda Inn ,Dolphin ,and Nikos for greek food we didn't try any British places cos Greek food soo nice. Food at the Elizabeth is also very good"

Clean, quiet, good value and conveniently located.
"We spent a very pleasant week here in 2008. The apartments are in a quiet part of town, but still very convenient for the restaurants and bars in Roda. We had one of the larger two storey apartments and it was well worth paying the little extra. The accommodation was clean and comfortable, if somewhat sparse, as is often the case in Greece. The pool was lovely and the bar area well managed; a large proportion of the clientèle appeared to spend nearly all of their holiday on the premises, but we preferred to get around and see the island. We noticed that the owner became a little offhand with us after a couple of days, presumably because we only occasionally used the bar. It was very apparent though and so obviously deliberate; all it achieved was that we stopped using the facilities altogether - no great inconvenience to us. We had no other cause for complaint, the apartments were excellent value and everyone else very pleasant indeed."

Excellent location, value for money ....
"Have just returned from one week at the Elizabeth Apartments. We stayed in a studio which was small but clean, we had two balconies, one over looking the pool area and one with a sea view. We had a change of bed linen and towels. The maids cleaned every day, (except Sunday, naturally enough) the bins were emptied and studio swept. The pool area was lovely, lush well established plants, was very clean and tidy. The main beach is to the left of the small harbour area and is only 5 mintues walk. Plenty of excellent restaurants and bars, shops and mini markets and 2 banks. Staff at the Elizabeth were very friendly and welcoming."

roda our favourite place but will never stay at the elizabeth appts again
"the appartments were very basic but reasonably clean, the maid came in most days but only emptied the bins, left the bat droppings on the veranda, my hubby went and found a brush and swept them up after 3 days. went to the pool bar the first night and staff were very nice to us, this soon changed when we didnt go on the other nights, we noticed costa was offhand with us when we visited the bar during the day, this was confirmed on our last day when we asked if there was a courtesy room, my husband was told "no there is a shower there" (this was the shower outside by the pool used for showering prior to going in the pool) did he really think we would shower and change in front of all the other guests ? we spoke to others who were leaving on the same day and cost let them use his room behind the bar, so unless you are prepared to spend 1 or 2 weeks not leaving their complex dont bother to go. the grojunds and the pool were very good though and the new lad james is very friendly, all of the other people in roda are friendly and i would highly reccomend eating at the roda park where all the food is fresh and delicious, owners and staff are also the nicest people in roda"

Lovely, Friendly & Relaxing
"Just got back from a week at the Elizabeth, Costas and the gang are really lovely people they make you feel like one of the family! The rooms are basic but have everything you need, plus they are cleaned on a daily basis which is excellent! The pool area is lovely with lush green gadens and a big pool with jacuzzi & kids pool. There are plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas so no=one will go without! The amenities (beach, bars, shops, restaurants etc) are a couple of minutes walk away so no long treks, stairs or slopes to have to negotiate! This place is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Only down side to Roda is the transfer from the airport!! Have to over the mountain area to get to it, it takes around 2 1/2 hours on bendy steep roads which makes for an uncomfortable ride......not good if you have got travel sickness! Other than that it was a perfect holiday. Hope this helps :)"

we will be back
"excellent value for money, the apartments are owned and run by a lovely family who are more than hepful. Roda is a beautiful place all on the flat so you can walk for miles. If you go to Roda you must eat in a real Greek Taverna called Nikos Family (Nikos and Lucy) situated on the old village road, the food and service is excellent but beware you may gain a few pounds in weight, try the beef stifado my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Having travelled quite a bit this little fishing village is one of the best locations I have been to, you do need to bear in mind this is Greece and a lot more basic than other holiday destinations, however I would go back tomorrow and definetly return soon"
