Fantastic place, wonderful people!
"Well, what can I say! After reading everyone else's reviews before I went, I was hoping for a great holiday - but that expectaion was surpassed - I had a wonderful time! Katerina and Yiannis are the perfect hosts - Katerina is sooo lovely, will do anything for you and her food is to die for! Yiannis is one in a million - he had me helpless with laughter so many times during my stay... he ought to have his own TV programme! And the Lamb and ccicken he cooked on the BBQ night was the best I've ever had. Apart from that, the apartments are brilliant - spotless and spacious, cleaned regualarly and are in a superb location in the centre of Paleo. The swimming pool is clean and huge and the surrounding poolside area just perfect. Katerina will also help you with anything like car hire, phoning transfers etc... nothing is too much trouble. If you're thinking about a holiday in Paleo, just book the Maria Studio's - you are guaranteed a brilliant time. Thank you so much Yiannis and Katerina - see you next year... I'm planning it already! DILLIGAF! Colin."

"this has got to be by far the best place in greece i have ever stayed a real home from home. Yiannis and Katherina , Maria and Spiros made our time at the maria studios magical we laughed constanly for the whole 2 weeks. Food is fab nothing i wouldnt recommend trying everything cooked fresh to order. def recommend bbq night on a saturday the food, atmosphere etc is amazing worth every penny and more. A family run business with Yiannis running bar (mad greek) katherina and maria doing the cooking etc. we spent 2 weeks there and never ate or drank anywhere else ther isnt anything i could fault a real gem in beautiful picturesque surroundings best holiday and most fun and laughter ever!!!!!! book now you wont be disappointed."

Ok if you get a good room.
"We have just got back from a week at the Maria studios, like other's we found it to be a freindly place . We arrived at 6 in the morning a note of welcome had been left on the door of the ground floor room and the key in the lock, we were thrilled to find a bottle of water tea bags and coffee had been left for us by katrina, the room was basic and clean what else do you want , the dissapointment came when we looked out of the patio it was a dump, no view other than a old block of appartments, the building that the laundry was done in and lines of washing. The worst was yet to come a family of cats (Mum Dad + 3 kittens) cute we thought at first till we came in one evening and they had crapped all over the patio, this happend a couple of times that put pay to us eating or wanting to sit outside. The family work hard and are happy to help if they can, lots of guest return my hubby and I would'nt , we have been to paleo many times with Kosmar and now we know who is supplying the property we have stayed at before that's where we will go when we go again. All in all it was ok, as i said the family are freindly and will help if they can but the Maria does'nt have the come back calling for us. Dont be put off with our views go and try it for yourself a different room could have made our view much better."

A real jewel in Corfu
"Our transfer stated 40 mins! although by the time we had completed all the drops it was nearer 2 hours on the way out. I would certainly consider a private transfer next time. We stayed at the Maria Studios as an extended family aged 6-66 years. Our welcome from Katerina was exceptionally warm and welcoming. We had originally booked a 1 bed roomed apartment through Libra holidays to be informed nearer the time there were no 1 bed appartments. We opted for two studios for a family of 2 adults a 9 year old and 6 year old. Katerina had already made provisions for us and put us in adjacent apartments on the ground floor. The hotel was small and very relaxed, our rooms although basic had everything we needed. The A/C was 5 euros daily and worth every penny. There are no baths in the appartments only showers. The rooms wer well maintained and clean. The bar and snack bar by the pool were ideal to sit and watch the childeren play, Katerina and her Mother in Law cook all the bar food fresh to order - Beef Stifado a must!! The local area is very pretty but the beaches were pebble and a good 15 minutes walk away which meant tired hot children! The sea was cystal clear and the snorkelling great. There are plenty of pedaloes (10 euros per hour) and spped boats self drive from 40 euros per hour. We did both an took a picnic out on the boat one afternoon to a remote beach - Fantastic day had by all!!!! Do not expect alot of night life in the region but the hotel has several theme nights and a relaxed bar atmosphere. I found eating out to be very expensive - a family of 4 cost on average 50-60 euros ,drinks weren't cheap either Large beer (Ltr) 3 euro small 2 euro. Coke 1.50 Euro. I would certainly reccommend the Maria for those with young families and couples who want a bit of relaxation."

"Okay.....having just returned from a nice peaceful week at the Maria Studios, I feel there are a few things people need to be aware of before booking. We, as usual, checked every review ever written before booking, and, like you, probably can't find a bad one. we did have a good time at the Maria Studios, but would probably have gone elsewhere in hindsight. On arrival, Yiannis greeted us, and his missus Katerina led us up to our room. As we entered I was a little shocked at the size of the room - about twelve feet by eight. Bear in mind this was for two adults and one child. Cozy. The childs bed was a zed bed, and very very tired and lumpy. Anyway, we decided to put up and shut up in that British way, and got on with it. The only bad point about the room were a broken shower tap, a toilet that continued flushing for ages (hours), and some unwashed crockery in the cupboards. Anyway, put up and shut up....we just got on with it. Some of the rooms at the back of the building look out over a kind of wasteland/ dump area......fortunately we had a pool view which was ok.... Cleaning.....good but a little infrequent, typical greek. Life at the Maria.....laid back.....very good food at very good prices. A pretty good semblance of an English brekky (if thats your thing) for 6 Euros, served all day. Katerina offered to make anything we wanted, even if it wasn't on the menu - top marks Katerina! The daily specials cooked by Yiannis and Katerinas parents were of a good standard and plentiful. Bar prices definitely very reasonable. 3 Euros for a large Mythos, cocktails from 2 Euros 80. Can't fault it. The pool.....fantastic....clean and sparkling...just what you need. Local area.....a fantastic Gyros/barbecue taverna right next door, and a supermarket right next to that. Again, really good prices. A bit of a cocktail bar a bit further on - Unlimit - bit pricey at 5 Euros a pop, but good service and quality. There were a few more tavernas and a couple of shops a bit further off, but lets face it; when it's 40 degrees, a long walk is the last thing you need. Nearest beach was about ten mins walk, but it's steep, and uphill all the way back...take water....or die!! There isn't really a resort centre in Paleo...none of the other reviews really picks up on this...Paleo is about 3 miles long in total, and has various small and large hotels, tavernas and a couple of shops along its length, so if you enjoy strolls and a bit of shopping on the way it really isnt any good. In fact, there isn't really any shopping to be had at all, short of hiring a car and heading off... I digress.... In short, the Maria Studios.....I would say GREAT for couples, rooms a bit too small for families, excellent food, good, wholesome greek owners with a BIG heart..... I hope I haven't been too critical....we did have a good time, but really, unless all you want to do is lie in the sun all day, and eat in at the studios, you maybe need to look somewhere a little more resorty...."

"Been to Greece many times but this has to be the best. The rooms spotless and very quiet, we all had fantastic sleeps.paleo is a wonderful scenic resort,so ideal, if like us you want to have a relaxing holiday ,but there are not really many shops, so not very good for shopaholics. We are booking to go again as soon as possible so it must be good as we have never done that before!"

"if you want warm beer rude people stay in england. escape the rat race and stay at the maria appts. you will not find a more freindy and helpfull family. yianiss. katrina & family. ask why people rtn year after year to the maria. this was our 2nd visit. stayed 1wk 2008 just rtn from a 2wk break. it broke my heart to have to rtn home to a country that could learn a lot from how a family life should be. yianiss and katrinas children are just a joy. polite funny and just a pleassure. and the owner yjaniss is a complete nutter. just sit at the bar at night and enjoy the world according to yianiss. one night we said we would love to try fish. yianiss promised us his dad would go to the harbour and bring us some back. 2days later 15 guests were eating fish. fantastic meal. cooked by yianiss dad. and least half the price of resturants. if you want memories of greece to last forever go to the maria apts. arrive as strangers leave as freinds. ps ask about the d.i.l.l.ig.a.f corner. ang kev mids"

JUST THE BEST!!
"If you wanna have a great laid back time with your loved one, there is nowhere better than this place. Yiannis and Katorina are just the best down to earth hosts you could ever wish to meet. We've visited a dozen Greek Islands, and we all know they're all beautiful. The difference at this place is, the owners REALLY care about getting to know the visitors, and are truely sad to see you leave.....that's why most people we met were return guests. So........Down to business. The rooms are spotless, as are all the surrounding areas, pool/bar/restauarant. Service, fantastic, hospitality brilliant, friendliness of ALL the family of this wonderful place can't be better. Just a short walk to bars, tavernas and a supermarket right next door. Beaches only minutes away. What more could you want??? Best deal on Car Hire.....Georges, about 2 minutes walk left out of the gate. 3 days 100 Euros (ALL-IN) others come with extras, and he's a mate of Yiannis so you won't get ripped off. The restaurants with the best views have slightly higher prices, and not as good quality as good as the one who's name escapes me but it is left out of the gate, and is established in 1971 family run and the food was THE BEST as were the prices. We will definitely return without a shadow of a doubt.......try and get room number 5, if available, lovely views and windows on 2 sides, so with the blinds closed but windows open = nice breeze, but protect against those pesky mozzies!! Air-Con available at I think â¬5 per day?? All-in All, don't hesitate.....book it and have a great time.........if you're a pair of 40-somethings that wanna catch up in a REALLY relaxed atmosphere."

Excellent, very well run hotel
"Cheap, cheerful and very well run establishment. The rooms were clean as was the bar and pool. We were self catering, but ate in the bar a couple of times and the food there is very good and reasonably priced. The owners speak very good english and are very hard working and keen to please."

Decent cheap studios
"We stayed at the Maria Studios on a last minute booking. We asked for cheap and cheerful and this is what we got. The owners are friendly and the studios clean, though our patio looked out over a scrubby piece of land. It is situated in the middle of the resort within easy walking distance of the beaches. Plus points must be the ample supply of hot water which is unusual in Greece - we showered at 8.30 to 9pm and it was always available. The rest of the plumbing is typically Greek but ok. The room was clean and tidy but the maid service was somewhat erratic, I think basically because it is a family establishment they sometimes overlook things but when pointed out the need to empty bins etc they happily did it. The food served at the pool bar was nothing special but was not bad either. We found a gem of a resturant 50yards away called the Adama, a typical meal for 2 with wine came in at about 18 euro (exchange rate 1,20 to the pound) and they threw in bread with dips to start and a plate of fruit to finish in that price. I would return to Paleo as it is beautiful and if I needed a cheap break I would certainly return to the Maria Studios"
