better than expected
"we booked our holiday way in advance and i was more than a little worried that it would turn out to be a flee pit, i was in part mistaken!
The annexe is a completely seperate hotel to the freestyle village which is about 150 metres along the beach and is in my and several other people's opinion a much nicer place to stay. As with most hotels in kavos the annexe is located off a small side road from the main strip along with a couple of other hotels, Because of this it is not particularly noisy although you can hear music from the pool and neighboring hotels constantly. There is a lovely atmosphere to the Annexe, everyone talks to each other and when you arrive you will be welcomed to the 'family' by the rep. During our stay there was a bit of a mix of ages, towards the end of our holiday more 'older' couples started to arrive who i feel might have prefered a different resort to kavos, but despite this everyone chatted and got along well, old and young alike.
The rooms are basic! we seemed to have landed on our feet as in our room everything worked, although i did hear some people complain that the toilet door didnt shut/ handle was broken when they came. They have a very small and pointless kitchen area, it has a fridge which only works when the key is in the slot to operate the electric, when you go out and take your key the fridge goes off! There is a small microwave sort of thing with 2 rings on the top, we never used ours as food is dead cheap and we prefered to eat out. The bathroom is a wet room but functional. If you want air con you have to pay 40 euros for 1 week, 70 euros for 2. safety deposite boxes cost 1 euro per night and is recomended by everyone, altough we did leave some money in our room by mistake one day and it was all there when we got back, honest cleaners that day! The rooms arent cleaned everyday but if you ask they will do it for you.
The pool is fantastic!!! right on the sea front, beautifull views of mainland greece, pool bar is good too and snax are made freshly for you by the lovely staff, who are very friendly. The pool is very deep all over and you can only touch the bottom on the steps as you get in, there were some non swimmers in the pool but i would be carefull if you can't swim!
We went from 5th - 12th sept and the resort was starting to close down for the season, if you plan to go any later you may find that many of the shops and bars etc are closed. Drinks are dirt cheep and very very strong!!! There are lots of pr people trying to get you into their restaurant or bar, you will get used to saying, 'no thanks, i've eaten!' but some of the drinks deals are worth a look, we got 2 cocktails each a shot and a bottle of champaigne for 5 euros each in one bar as an example. The hotel reps will try to get you to drink in the hotel and on their organised nights. The nights are a lot of fun but the hotels bar is expensive compared to the deals you get on the strip. Kavos does have a bit off a niff every now and again but not constantly, the beach and sea is not great but is pretty clean and you can walk out for miles and still only be upto your knees.
Kavos is very much what you make of it, if you want to be out dinking all week then it's for you, if you want to chill by the pool have have a fairly quiet night once in a while then thats fine too, but kavos is really all about having a good time in the sun and getting drunk on the night."

Freestyle was awesome
"Stayed at the Freestyle Village for 4 nights only end of Aug 08 which is a good thing.
Me and friend had originally booked to stay at Agnes Apartments but we had alot of trouble with other guests and luckily a room came free at Freestyle and we were moved here.
All I can say is that the room was extremely basic with only one plug socket, but then we were told that we had the worst room on the complex. I did see a few of the other rooms and they were miles better and alot bigger. We had enough sheets and 3 towels each, which compared with the 1 hand towel we had at Agnes was good we thought. Kept very clean by cleaners everyday and even they stopped to chat, they were so funny.
The staff really looked after us and they didnt take any rubbish from the guests, the reps were so friendly too. 24 hr bar was brill and you end up meeting some great people when rolling in at 6am. Not for familes as the average age of guests was 17-24 I felt a pensioner at 28! Freestyle has an awesome atmosphere, its got to be done, best hotel in Kavos. Pool was nice size and clean dont have to pay for sunbeds, food was always good. Safety deposit boxes kept in reception though. Air con was a tad expensive though. I wish I had spent the whole 7 days there!"

Would never go back!
"Myself and 3 friends went to Kavos last year and all I can say it was the worst holiday I have ever been on, I came home a week early!
The room itself was clean but very basic, however, one of room doors had clearly been kicked in before as it was dented and the lock did not seem very secure, we reported this but were assured the room itself would be safe.
This was not the case, second night of our holiday 2 men, raided my friends room, one was grabbed while the other went in the room, sprayed sun tan lotion over the walls and stole my friends moblie. We reported this to the hotel owner and the freestyle rep. Nothing was ever done about it, even when we pointed out the boys at the pool. It was cost my friend an arm and a leg to get the phone cancelled, and she had to pay for all the phone calls which they had made to the UK.
For 3 nights of the holiday we had no running water. This was a problem as we were not able to shower or flush the toilet. Our whole block was the same and everyone complained about this, however we were told this is a common problem in Kavos and we just had to deal with it.
The 'private' beach which was situated at the bottom of the hotel was disgusting. Condoms and broken glass everywhere. The sea was horrible and smelled, on my walk along the beach I saw leggings, condoms and plastic bags all floating in the water, would never walk in it
After a week I decided enough was enough, I hadn't washed in days and had some sotmach bug. I asked my rep for help to book a flight home but he said he couldn't, so my boyfriend managed to book a flight to Newcastle for me(Not much good since we live in Glasgow) My rep Darren however said he could book me onto the transfer bus though and he said he would get back to me to let me know everything was ok and confirmed. He didn't get back to me at all and I had to go and ask him, he said it was ok to go on the bus.
The next day at 8am I went onto the bus and no one took my name or anything. However later on into the journey (about 1 hour) a Thomsons rep got on the bus, did a count and said there were too many people on the bus, because my name was not on the list, I was put off the bus somewhere outside of Kavos, alone!
My rep Darren had never been in touch with her at all!!! I was stranded at some hotel alone with no luggage as the bus driver who spoke no English refused to give me it.
I had to go into the hotel and ended up having to pay £50 for my 'free' Thomsons transfer!
Overall I would never recommend Kavos or the accomodation to anyone!"

Best hotel in Kavos...Freestyle
"I went to Kavos with seven friends. Being a group of girls we were hoping and praying that the apartments would be okay and that some of the reviews wouldn't be the case for us!
Luckily it wasn't! The staff are BRILLIANT, the apartments had just been refurbished and overall Freestyle villiage made our holiday unforgettable! The pool bar is 24hr and the night barman Andonis is a joker, get him to show you his tricks and his breakdancing!!! Jacob and Julio are ALWAYS a laugh!
As for the night life? It really is for those who like to 'do it large' and if you don't fancy a night out, the 24hr bar has a great vibe and the cocktails are to die for! Definately try a 'chill out' or 'jacob's special'.
It's so easy to make new friends in Freestyle even with the employees!"

"I went with a large group of lads in June to the Freestyle Annex. Overall we had a great week with no major problems. Kavos itself is abit dirty, which you expect, I personally preffered Laganas in Zante. Anyways the apartment is what you expect in Greece...basic. The pool was small, but thats not really a problem. The Aircon is 40 euros for the week, which is a must, and the safety desposits boxes are 1 euro a day, bargain. The bathroom's were ok, showers could have been better, toilet stank (probably us though). Kitchen, we did'nt use, the fridge was ok for beers. To get power to the room you had to put the key in the holder, which isnt great.
The reps were good, and always around if you needed out. They tried to get us on the weeks activity package for 210 euros, we decided for us that was to expensive. As we did our own things. We did go on the Theo's boat trip, that guy is on something, but you can get it cheaper in town. I would recommend the water park, 35 euros each, its quite good. There is'nt alot to do through the day in Kavos, so it was worth it.
For nightlife its good, did'nt think it was as good as Zante, but I did'nt think the resort was completely full. We ate out every night, theres loads of deals, 7 euros for 2 courses. You don't get great food but it fills you up. The drunken squid was the best place we went to, more expensive but great food.
We had no trouble and did'nt see any. The only club Future seems only busy on Sun and Weds, Westwood did'nt turn up (I don't know what happened there) so we got Ratpack, which was ok, but disappointing. The best bar we found was Rolling Stone and a great trendy bar called fresh, they do the best cocktails. There are loads so just try everyone! It was 5 euros for 2 drinks and a shot in the majority of places. They do use poor alcohol though. The PR people do get very annoying, and unfortunetely they are outside every bar.
All in all it was a great holiday, mainly because of my mates. I would'nt go back, because theres always somewhere new to try. I gave it 4 due to my overall experience of the holiday."

freestyle village annex
"I went to kavos last summer with three of my mates and had the most amazing time! we stayed at the freestyle village annex which was great, its smaller than the main complex but is much nicer. The pool is cleaner and the staff are really friendly. I would only recomend these appartments to the young and lively. The rooms are very basic and tacky but ur hardly ever in ur room anyway. I highly recomend purchasing the air con, the rooms are beyond boiling without it! its well worth the money trust me! Also take loads of mosquito repelent they attack you loads over night. I met sum amazing people whilst staying at these appartments and have many good memories. enjoy......."

"when we arrived at the freestyle annex the first room we were allocated was absolutely filthy, including sand in the shower and blood stains and holes in the bed sheets. when we pointed it out we were led to another room which had a problem with the electrics so we were moved to a third room which was not really much cleaner than the first but we realised this was the best we were going to get in the hotel.
Our bed sheets were never changed during our 1 week stay and towels changed only when we asked. the 'kitchen' consisted of a microwave that didn't work and a fridge that only stayed on when you were in the room due to it being operated by the key, which was also true of the air conditioning which you have to pay extra for. the bathrooms are in serious need of updating and i don't see how the rooms can be described as self catering when you can't even make up a sandwich because anything in the fridge goes off in less than a day seeing as though the fridge is rarely on.
most of the staff were friendly enough and the bar area was fine but i wouldn't recommend staying in the hotel because the state of the rooms. on a holiday in kavos noone is there to stay in the rooms but you at least want them to be reasonably clean.
oh and the swimming pool is about 6m by 2m in size."

"Stayed at the Freestyle Annex in the last week of june. There are two freestyle places in Kavos, the other being called Freestyle appts.
Its only rated 2 star I believe but the appartments were very good, fridge, kettle, small cooker. The showers weren't the best but did the job no problem.
There doesn't seem to be many reviews of freestyle so i thought I'd write one. Anyone who hasn't been to Kavos and loves pub crawling and partying really needs to go, its the best holiday I've ever had, there were 8 of us that went all lads. There were some other large groups staying at freestyle too.
The Hotel staff were very friendly, good menu of snacks and a 24hr bar. We brought beer and vodka back from the local shop for the rooms (24cans were 10euros. vodka 6euros) . its about a 3 min walk to the main strip with all the bars and restaurants.
The pool is of adequate size with plenty of sun loungers, we never had a problem getting them. the sea also backs on to the hotel with the beach a slight walk away.
Sizzlers restaurant is one of the closest to the annex, we had brekkie there most days, they also do excellent food in the evenings, massive menu.
The Bars we liked the most in Kavos were TWINS BAR(right the oposite end of the strip from the annex, good music, friendly staff) THE ROLLING STONE (the best bar for music with a club in the back) SNOBS (very loud music) JC's (a mad DJ here but very funny) ATLANTIS (open till the sun comes up, massive outside area on the beach) these are just a few of my favourites but there's loads of em !!! stay of the the Head [--] ! a cocktail with 9 spirits in including absynth, we had one between us and that was enough..
Don't worry about the transfer from the airport either.. i read reviews saying it can take upto 4 hours.. It doesn't.. We were at the resout in about 50mins.
It can become a bit of pain trying to get past the PR's when moving from bar to bar.. the best way is to walk is in single file, they only tend grab the groups. You don't mind being stopped at first but by night no7 it does get a bit annoying the PR's trying to drag you into every bar ! You'll see what i mean when you get there LOL"

Well Guys Hope You Enjoy Kavos As Much As We Did ... Guess Its What You Make Of It that Makes It Good :D xxxx "

My friends and I were looking for a chea...
"My friends and I were looking for a cheap holiday in the sun. We asked Thompson to find us a lively, fun resort, we were not to bothered what the accomadation was like (sleeping was not high on our agenda). As soon as I arrived at freestyle village it felt as if I had been there a hundred times before. I felt welcomed, the staff were warm and friendly, nothing was to much hassle for them to sort out. We were well informed about the hotel and its services. The standard of our rooms were better than I expected. They were very basic and the bathrooms were not as clean as i would have like but to be fair I paid under £400 for two weeks, I wasnt expexting the Ritz carlton!!!
The people we met were all fantastic, a true random mix of ages, class and background. Kavos is exactly what it says on the tin, a fun, lively resort, if you have an open mind you will have a great time.
I find it hard to believe that people go to Kavos and do not enjoy themselves. Surely people put a bit of research into the destination they are heading for??? If you are looking for beautiful sandy beaches and a place to unwind then Kavos is not for you. Kavos is just a town full of bars and nightclubs but for me and my friends Kavos gave us much more than a hangover, we met some truly fantastic people and will always have great memories of the laughs we had.
I would highly recommend Freestyle village to anyone who would think they would enjoy it. My friends and I will be going back next year!!!.

Kavos is not for the faint hearted!! Me...
"Kavos is not for the faint hearted!!
Me and 3 others arrived in Kavos at 12.30 in the morning and was dropped of in the middle of the strip by our greek coach driver who gave us very very good directions to our hotel, they were turn left. well that helped. we were walking around kavos main strip with heavy bags. (2 weeks of stuff) asking for directions and no1 knew where the hotel was. even PRs. we finally managed to find the freestyle village and asked for help. he then directed us to a totally different hotel 5minutes down the road. The annex isnt the same builing as the village as we found out on the night we arrived.
The state of the hotel rooms was absolutly disguisting. condoms in the toilet, mucky bathhroom floor, very very limited kitchen equipment. The shower wasnt big enough to stand in never mind have a shower and it also gave you a shock everytime it was turned on. we just went to bed.
Next morning we went to the welcome meeting they do at the freestyle village and i must admit they had done it alot of times before. they gave us a cup of sambuka mixed with blue dye. sick!!! then they ranted on trying to sell the excursions!!!
We bought all the excursions they offered and from there on the holiday just got better and better. apart from PR's nagging. We spread all the nights out over two weeks so had a few nights to ourself and a few to recover. The school disco was amazing in the foam. Theos boat trip was the highlight with fran cosgrove DJ on the boat. The big Dog yeah you guessed it, Tim Westwood was at Trinity at future and atlantis. The place everyone goes Wed N Sun and it was amazing.
One other highlight of the holiday was that there were 7year old albanian girls selling glow sticks in clubs on their own and they are thieving gypsies. Beware!!
The condom in the toilet and the rubsh room was soon forgotten about as we only really used it 1 hour at night to get ready and then from 6am till 11am every day to sleep in. the cleaner woke us up at 11am every morning to pretend to clean. but they do work 7 days a week!!!
The hotel staff at the annex were great, right on the beach. not that you'd use the beach but it overlooked mainland greece and they played music at the poolside all day while you recoverd from the night before.
By the end of the two weeks we had had the best time of our lives and didnt want to go but we were so exhausted we had to go.
Thank you very much BRETT HARVEY AND TOREY (The reps) for making the holiday one to remember!!!!!!! IT TURNED OUT TO BE THE BEST YET!!!!!"

Try to avoid. After searching for a chea...
"Try to avoid. After searching for a cheap holiday at short notice for myself and three friends we came across this one. Looked ok and the reviews sounded good enough.
However on arrival our fears were realised, we were made to hand over our passports to reception which I thought was odd and when I asked for the use of a safe the only offer was a shared box in the middle of reception. Two of use could lift it up and carry it out of the hotel easily, had we wanted to, CCTV or not.
The hotel block (we were in B) stank of sewerage, particularly near our room as did the entire main strip of the resort in fairness. The corridor to our room was in complete darkness for the first half of our one week stay, easy to tell why with an uncovered circuit trip box on the wall accompanied by a constant buzzing sound. And then there was the room.
We had the use of air con for 40 euros for the week, which whichever way you look at it was the only plus point. The odour from the bathroom was disgracefull, the shower curtain was dangerous by barely hanging up and the shower head had nothing to hang up on, it was broken and unattached. We had the use of two plug sockets, one of which could be pulled completely out of the wall showing bare wires again. The balcony door was difficult to lock as the handle was damaged (becoming a common theme). The fridge worked and the matress wasn't bad either! There were cracks in the walls which followed on outside of the room which if I were a builder I would advise a structural assesment of the building in the close season.
A couple of friends of ours had their room door broken from outside, a small crack which the hotel deemed reasonable to charge them 260 euros to repair. The reps were 'unable' to assist them even though they were in their room when it happened. The hotel managment only wanted to deal with my friends while the reps weren't there and if they had refused to pay the police would have been involved. Rough justice and an all too familiar case of 'rip off the British tourist'.
The noise from the loud music outside and people arriving home late weren't a problem personally and is to be expected in a resort of this kind. But the arrogance of the cleaners between 7.30am and 8.30am was not acceptable. The shouting, laughing and banging of doors could not have been louder if they had tried, some of the bar's in town sounded quieter by comparison! The last thing that anyone needed after returning to bed at 4am was this and this applies to nearly all of the residents.
The availability of sun loungers was poor and the amount of space occupying sun was even worse, this is in September so I wouldn't like to know what it would be like in high season. The range of food was not great unless you enjoy cheese and ham toasties and a pint of decent lager- to be honest, was 3.50 euros from a plastic cup. Two of the six pool cues were intact.
I am disappointed with Thomson (Freestyle) for this hotel. After travelling to Turkey in June with them and having a fantastic time this is the last thing I had expected. The resort in my opinion is poor although I cannot blame Thomson for that.
Try to avoid Kavos as a clubbing destination, it really isn't that good and it smells REALLY bad. I've been to Faliraki and Magalluf before and both are far far better. If you cannot avoid Kavos, most definately avoid Freestyle Village."
