Great place for a relaxing Holiday

"Tom and Carol Rainham Essex

We had a great holiday at this hotel the rooms and all the hotel were kept very clean. The staff were all very helpful and made you feel welcome. The food was to a good standard but there were plenty restaurants in the area especially the 2 stars if you fancied a big breakfast after a drinking session the night before. We loved the swimming pool area and it was very roomy with lots of sun beds even tho they advertise to all free sunbeds we never had a problem getting a sunbed. We would reccomend this hotel and will be returning again next year."

Athina Ideal

"We called in at the Athina on chance, and were able to book in,for two weeks B&B.
We were so pleased we did. lovely clean hotel,in a great location, right on the Beach, and with a massive Pool area. Lots of sunbeds, but as usual lots of early towels on earl (amazing how posesive people become) no matter lots of choice for everyone.
All of the members of staff were most pleasent, all the time. Dont be afraid of George in the breakfast room, once you get to know his personality ,you will warm to him,hes nice really.
One thing did rather niggled
us though ,the Pool Bar only seemed to have 2 CDs both of wich were rather grating Garage type music played rather loud ( I think the chap in the Bar likes them) anyway,I sent (ha Ha) my wife over to tell him and he turned it down, Ive left some money for him to buy a couple more CDs.
We prefer to dine out at nigh so we only took the Breakfast wich was simple ,but adequate.
Whilst in San Stefanos you must visit the Beachcomber Bistro, absolutely superb food, freshley ooked and very reasonable.Sue and Makis ,and everyone there are just brilliant. The Sunset viewed from the dining area is AMAZING. The Olympic Family Taverna is also superb food, lovely family and very reasonable prices.
We loved the hotel and will be returning.

Good hotel !

"The Athina hotel is a good hotel, The Reception staff are really freindly and welcoming and are always there to help if you have a problem. The barman couldnt be any nicer, hes very freindly and has a good sense of humour. The Bad thing in the hotel is the food , its a big let down, the evening meals are very basic , one time we got served fake mash potato( the one that comes in a packet). And another bad thing is that by the pool bar there is a grumpy man who serves you, and like in another comment left he can be quite rude.
But apart from them two things the hotel is very clean, the rooms get cleaned everyday and sheets and bath towels are changed!
The cleaners are also very freindly, and always say hello!
The pool is really big and clean, and The hotel has internet access and a pool table. Overall i think its a great hotel , and we put aside the grumpy man in the pool bar lol. I would rate it 8/10"

Great location

"Great location, directly on the beach. Nice seaview from our room (309) but the room was small & dated. The pool is large with lots of comfortable sun loungers. The bar area is a bit bland with no activity at night, however the barman is great and very friendly.

The receptionists were always helpful and polite, some of the other staff were not so friendly - the guy in the snack bar is actually very rude.

The food is ok but not great - avoid if you are a vegetarian!!

Overall we were pleased, we only paid £320 for a week half board. The hotel and the resort seem to lack charm, however the its fine for a cheap week in the sun."

A great little hotel

"Visited this hotel as one of 6 in Corfu over a two week holiday, staying 2 or 3 nights in each. This was the lowest star rating but our joint favourite hotel. Its got the biggest pool on the island and allows access for non residents but that's not a problem as its so big. We had a twin room but it had 3 beds. Air con costs 2.50 Euros per day but its worth it. The meals are fine with limited choice. Breakfast is toast but can be upgraded to full English for 2 Euros. The view from the terrace where meals are served is priceless. The receptionists were very helpfull despite us only being in the hotel for 2 days. All in all it was fantastic value for money - talking of which, bring some, because the resort doesn't yet have an ATM machine and the walk to Arrillas to reach the nearest one takes about 30 minutes. If you are there on a Wednesday check out the Greek dancing at the Barras Apartments restaurant."

We stayed in a Meon Villa in Kassiopi and it was fabulous!

"The villa was out of this world and Kassiopi was everything we wanted. A lovely old fishing port where you could catch a little boat to a secluded bay or beach side taverna. In kassiopi you also have plenty of bars and resturants but it still keeps its greek character.

We stayed in a villa with Meon called the Athina and it was fabulous. Just up a little hill right on the seas edge. The brochure or website didnt do it justice it was amazing even with a full size snooker table. Would defintely go there again."

"Iv stayed here a few times now it's such a nice place. I love how the staff are so kind and friendly. Me an geroge are very good friends now we talk all through dinner no and off , you only need a sense of humor to like him . The food is great we always eat breakfast and dinner thier . However for lunch , without doubt we go over to the Aquarius bar it's run my a English man his local wife, the atmosphere is great and the foods lovely and as for the barmans magic tricks well you will have to go over and see for yourself . The pool is amazing massive clean nice pool with plenty of seating area. If you need a form of transport I reccomend spiros at the end of the road for a quadbike or buggy in the summer you need the wind on your face it's too hot in a car . As for the rooms they are Always spotless the cleaners are very good as we are quite a messy family the cleaners are always on top. "

Relaxing holiday, amazing sunsets

"Just back from a lovely relaxing week with my partner at the Athina Hotel in San Stefanos! It is definately the place to go for a chilled out holiday with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere!
The hotel, surroundings and beach were spotlessly clean, rooms quite basic but what we were expecting! We had a sea view room with 2 balconys (ground floor) and were not disappointed, amazing views of the sunset from here or the restaurant!! Only downside would be the noisy fan/generator outside but you soon get used to it...BEWARE..some rooms looks directly onto this and the alotment which is quite scruffy and not exactly a nice view...so i personally think it's worth paying the extra for seaview!
Temperatures reaching 40 degrees plus while we were there...aircon in the room is about 25 euros per week and there is a safe-box for free. Hotel staff all very friendly and and it's lovely to see all the family working there and in the restaurant...yes George the head-waiter is often grumpy and comes across a bit rude but it doesn't exactly spoil the holiday! Spiros at the bar was excellent...lots of seating areas inside and out with pool tables and plasma TV's!
The pool is excellent..the biggest in the resort and plently of sunbeds! Just walk down the path to the beach, 2 sunbeds + umbrella cost 8 euros for the day, so not too bad...sea is crystal clear and shallow!
So after hearing a lot about the food at the hotel we had not set our expectations very high and unfortunately they were confirmed...At dinner there is a choice from 4 starters and 4 mains, I always chose the Greek option as this was often the best.. about 3 nights the food was nice but otherwise quite average, basic and un-appetising, which is a huge shame as the views of the sunset at dinner are priceless!!! Breakfast is basic..tea, coffee, toast and a choice of something else..but that was fine we us! There are many nice restaurants in the village so we ate out a few times, Zorbas (which has Greek dancing), 2 Star (Gyros Plate lovely!) and Olympia were all excellent!
San Stefanos as a resort is quiet but then again we didn't want anything too crazy! An ideal place for couples or older families...it was our first vist but everyone we met and spoke to had been time and time again!!!
Overall we had a lovely week in the sun and would recommend this hotel and return but only for B&B! "
