"We have been to Aghios Gordios several times and we will never stay at the Mazis again. The photographs of the interior on the adverts do not appear to correspond at all with where we stayed!

The hygiene and cleanliness of the place was well below par. Sanitary bins overflowing, blocked sink on arrival, broken toilet door, moody and very unsociable reception from owner and cleaner. We weren't the only ones who thought this. OK the hill has to be climbed and it is a pain but that wasn't too much of a problem.

We paid extra thinking we were going to get a decent place but I have stayed in some lovely places in Corfu with lovely people and a swimming pool to boot for cheaper and this is not one of those places.

I'm surprised the fans even turned considering the amount of dust that flew off off them...maybe cleaned 5 years ago? No hot water for days and we were the lucky ones. Someone didn't have any for two whole weeks. Poorly equipped kitchen, NOT fully equipped. NO hairdryer or iron/ironing board in site although it states this in the adverts.

Never again.

"We have just returned from Agios Gordios after spending a glorious week at the Mazi apartments. Fantastic! We have booked again for 2 weeks next year, can’t wait!

Mazi apartments were spotless and well equipped and what a novelty to cook on the balcony! The views were spectacular especially the sunsets.

Our favourite eating place was Alexis which we discovered on the third night, lovely food and very kind and welcoming hosts. Alexis would greet you as you came in and Vangelis, Georgina and Nancy were very efficient in serving lovely home cooked food and perfect cocktails!

The location is gorgeous, clean beach, mountain walks and no lager louts! The trip to Corfu town took about 45 mins in an air-conditioned coach and cost 1.90 euro. The mosquitoes were out in force this year and I was bitten even though I was smothered in repellant and used the plug-ins and citronella candles!

Agios Gordios is a perfect place for families and couples who just want to chill out.

"We had a week in Mazis studios in September 2006, and can highly recommend.

The rooms are generous, spotlessly clean, well-equipped, nicely decorated and very comfortable. The small kitchen is actually on the balcony, overlooking the sea and the village. Our host was very helpful, and also runs the little grocery just a few steps away from the studios.

The location, though, is really spectacular: High on the hillside, near to the main road into town but set back enough not to be bothered by it. Breakfast on the balcony, with a loaf of fresh bread, honey, and melon from our host’s shop, couldn’t be a better way to start the day. And watching the sunset, to end it.

As guests, we had access to the pool just across the road, which shares the same fabulous views of the village and sea below.

The location comes at a price, though – it’s a steep trek down to the village and beach, and back again! Still, we managed it a couple of times a day (we’re 60 & 61) and thought it was worth it. Roads in this part of the island are not busy, and we had no qualms about hiring scooters for a couple of days.

The bus stop for Corfu town is about a hundred yards further up the hill, but there are only 3 or 4 a day. Taxi from the airport was about 25 Euros.

Aghios Gordios village caters for a broad range of European tourists, with little evidence of package tours (other than a few coaches of eastern European youngsters, staying at the ‘Pink Palace’). Lots of young families, middle and older couples.

The lightly trafficked main street has a good range of tavernas, restaurants, and tourist shops, perfectly adequate for a week or two. Beach is just at the foot of the street, so tends to get crowded, but thins out if you walk along a bit. Sunbeds and umbrellas available to hire."

"What can I say about the Mazis apartments, but fantastic! The views our out of this world, we’ve just got back and we our booking again.

There is a bit of a steep hill but the apartment and views are worth it, avoid walking up it during the day.

There are many pools that you can use we used Alex in the gardens which is near the beach quite secluded and peaceful. Overall any one thinking of stopping in agihos gordios should do.
