"We stayed at the dora studios in june,it was a very pretty complex, lovely clean warm pool and very clean neat studios. The first week at Dora was great and peaceful,no problems,Costas whose family, helped run the complex also owned the Panarama restaurant, could not do enough for you, which was just as well, because the Thomson rep, Jenny, who was a very lazy little girl and was never around. She was carried around by Costas and his family who mothered her,and did her job for her. The second week was a bit of a disaster,as they had put a young group of chavs in the complex, who had no respect for anybody, making as much noise as they could, breaking every rule, and there wasnt many, but as usual Jenny nowhere to be seen, but was always seen getting very drunk with the offending louts, she was about as useful as a chocolate fire guard,Costas as usual came to the rescue and gave chavs an ultimatum, this did work, and peace prevailed again on the Dora,a very nice place to stay,we met so many nice people."

"We have just returned from Dora Studios having had a wonderful relaxing 2 weeks there. The family run appartments are faultless, the place is kept so clean and tidy and the swimming pool clear and spotless. I would definately recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quiet holiday with lots of lovely sunshine. The beaches are amazing and the sea is a must. Can't wait to return."

"Once again we have had a fab holiday at the Dora apartment's. This was our 8th time there & we are already planning the next trip. There is alway's a warm welcome from Kostas & his family. The apartments are spotless, the pool is lovely & the beach is a stones throw away. The food in the Panorama is first class, you must try the lamb chop's, 10 % discount for Dora resident's. Hippocrates, Alex,Dora, Nikos & Spiros from the Panorama, make you feel most welcome & ensure you have a great evening."

"Me and my partner have just returned from a weeks stay at the Dora studios. It was basic but lovely and clean and in a great location. The kitchen was very small but seeing as we were on holiday we had no intentions of cooking, especially with all the restaurants serving such wonderful food and most of them overooking the sea. Seagulls and Oceano are worth a try and the Panorama. The pool was a decent size and always had spare sun loungers, the pool bar was great for a snack or drinks. The apartments are located down a quiet lane so it's off the main road but can be noisy in the morning with other guests talking. The beach was gorgeous, a long stretch of lovely sand and the sea was crystal clear and only a 5 minute walk away. It also has plenty of water sports which were great fun. We had a great holiday and would recommend the Dora for couples or families looking for a relaxing beach holiday."

Request a poolside room and you should sleep well.
"I stayed at Dora with a friend in June 2011. The studios are very clean and we agreed with the other reviews about the property and staff. The pool was very clean and refreshing. It was just a shame that we had a room by the access lane and the hire vehicles of the other guests came/went/parked outside our little balcony at all times of the day and night. There was no car park. Unfortunately, guests didn't consider those trying to have a peaceful nights sleep when they were returning from the bars in the early hours of the morning. Dora has no reception, no security personnel, no public phone or contact phone number should there be a problem on site when Sofia was not at the pool bar. She was there from 10a.m. to 6 p.m., then the pool area was closed. There wasn't much to do at the resort. Yes, bars, restaurants and the disco which started at 10.30 and went on till 2 or 3 am. The beaches were fragmented and narrow, only the more reasonable sized with sunbeds. We booked the Thomson trip to Parga and Paxos online and this proved cheaper than buying from the Rep. It was a glorious day out. Lovely boat and locations where you could explore, swim, relax or shop. This was a long day as our coach picked us up and took us into Kerkyra harbour and returned us to the resort but we did see a lot scenery on the journey. Because of the noise in the complex at night and the lack of things to do, we were glad to get back home."

Brilliant budget holiday at Dora
"We've just returned from a week at the Dora. We found the rooms to be better than expected for 2 stars in Greece - everything was very clean and the bathroom was nicer than other self catering places I have been to. Yes, the kitchen area is small, but has everything you need to make breakfast and lunch and maybe the odd simple meal in the evening. Pool area was lovely and there were always sunbeds available when we were there. The whole complex is set in some beautiful gardens and is set back from the main road so you don't hear any noise from the bars at night. St George is a nice little place, with plenty of good restaurants. We tried Seagulls, Makis, Alex's and Panorama and the food was great everywhere. Sebastians was good for a quick and cheap lunch - the pita gyros were delicious and the girl who works there is really sweet. As others have said, Kostas's boat trips are a great day out - we went to Paxos and Anti Paxos and loved it, especially swimming in a deserted cove with turquoise clear water. Definately a day to remember. We loved everything about our stay at Dora, but it is the hospitality of Kostas, the owner of Dora and the Panorama, that makes us want to go back. He was a lovely man and we miss him already! I would recommend the Dora to couples looking for a relaxing place to stay, within reach of lots of good tavernas and bars, and good beaches."

"dora studios are lovely and clean, two cooker rings on sink drainer is your kitchen no microwave , grill or oven, but you do get a kettle and toaster all staff are very friendly and helpful, apart from at the panorama restaurant towards the end of our stay,my son chipped his front tooth in the swimming pool so no diving.mosquitos are awfull pack lots of repellent. kostas boat trip is very good value for money, good places to eat.. the balcony, sunset, and mad mikes bar cheaper drinks and a wonderful big breakfast for 3euros and friendly service. take as much food as you can in your case as supermarkets are very expensive most items are double the price in england. none of the cash machines in st george work, so take plenty of money with you, or get some out on the small island you stop at on the boat trip, the best meal we had was at makis, and the worst seagull, walk 15 to 20 mins to the left of dora and its a whole new set of bars and restaurants, end of driveway is a corner shop wich hires out fans , much cheaper than the air con at 6euros a night, fans were about 15 a week, wouldnt return because of mosqitos and felt that one week would have been enough to see and do everything. "Just returned from a week at the Dora Studios - Superb. Having visited Corfu on numerous occasions we are quite familiar with the standards of accommodation there and without doubt found Dora Studios to be of the highest. Basic yes (as is the norm with Greek holiday studios)but spotlessly clean and extremely well maintained.Kostas (the owner),his family & staff have all their guests interests at heart and nothing was too much trouble for them. Studios were thoroughly cleaned 6 days a week and linen changed once per week. The pool area is exceptionally well kept and the pool bar well run by a very polite & friendly lady.Bar snacks are also available - although I'd give the toasted snadwiches a miss!! I ordered a toasted ham & cheese which consisted of 1 very thinly sliced piece of ham and 1 Kraft cheese slice and the bread, although it had been "toasted" had no colour to it at all so tasted more like dried bread than toast - still you can't win em all!! Dora Studios are situated within easy reach of all amenities and St George itself is a very pleasant resort with a realxing atmosphere and boasts numerous tavernas/restaurants all of high standards. We particularly favoured The Panorama (owned by the same family that own Dora Studios - and Dora guests are also given a 10% discount there)and also the Oceano. Both places offer an excellent selection of traditional Greek fare and the Panorama do a fillet steak to die for. The Oceano is excellent for seafood. Feeling a little energetic? then take a walk to the nearby old village of Argyrades - about 4km - and experience a traditional Greek village where time seems to have stood still - incredible. Overall I would say that St George is probably more suited to couples and/or young families rather than anyone seeking a wild nightlife scene (which we weren't!! so that was o.k.) and all in all we had a terrific week there and would certainly go back again without any hesitation."

"Just spent 2 fabulous weeks at the Dora Studios. The rooms were basic but very clean. The swimming pool was cleaned regular and was a good size. There was a pool bar which opened between 10am-6pm, Sofia was brilliant always there when you wanted a drink or something to eat. St George South was a chilled and relaxed place. There were several restaurants and supermarkets all within walking distance. The beaches were about 300 metres away. We ate in several restaurant and our best were the Oceano,Balcony,Panarama and Alex's. Alex's did a mean pizza. There was several bars in St George South and we recommend Los Amigos. The Panarama and Dora Studios are owned by Kostas and his family who made us feel welcome. We would certainly go back. "

Could be better
"We went to Dora for 2 weeks in May/June 2010. Arrived at 6am as plane late and driver unaware of where the apartments were and no one to meet us! Eventually found the room and was disappointed as they were very basic. We always go self catering in a studio and this was really basic. Nowhere to lay a plate down other then the uneven sink drainer and no chopping board. Only 2 of everything so had to buy more glasses. Maid service 6/7 days and they were very good and kept the place looking good. Towels and linen changed twice but you have to buy your own loo paper. Pool bar now run by Sofia who is fab and very helpful, willing and obliging. It said it opened from 9 - 7 but she didn't appear until after 10 and closed between 6 and 7pm as most people had gone to their apartments. The resort is very run down and some places mentioned in other reviews have closed down since. Restaurants were good but not many to choose from. Prices were okay but heard that may change as Greece increases its taxes soon. We enjoyed our holiday overall but wouldn't be returning to this resort. Have been to Corfu twice before so would go back there but not to this one."

"We arrived late, around 11pm and we were met off the bus by Kostas at the restaurant the family owns, which is a short walk from the studios. The studios are basic but they are what you expect from a self catering holiday. There were 2 hobs, one was tiny but we ate out all the time so it didnt bother us. The fridge was all we needed! Beds were ok, if you want more than one pillow take your own! Or maybe ask, they might let you have another one. The beds were made every day apart from Sunday. Toilet roll isn't provided past the first roll, although saying that we ran out so went to buy some, in the meantime they had replaced it! This is a nice place to stay if you like to keep yourself to yourself, as to check out all you have to do is leave the key in the room! But if you want to talk to other people all you have to do is sit round the pool as people are friendly if you want to chat, although i suppose it depends who is staying there at the time. The pool was nice, very clean. I didnt go in but my friend did and said it was lovely! The lady who worked at the pool bar was very pleasant, and snacks were reasonably priced. All the bars and restaurants were very close, the beach was a few mins walk. There are a few supermarkets close by aswell. We had good nights out in Artistis and Retreat! The best meals were probably in Oceana and The Balcony. Would definitely go back! "
