A Memory I'd Like to Forget
"My husband and I were very disappointed with our week at the Summer Memories Aparthotel. The room was a nice size, but somewhat lacking in cleanliness. Linens were only changed about twice a week! We went towards the end of the season and it was pretty cold at night. Unfortunately, there was one blanket in the room that seemed to be of questionable cleanliness. The location also left something to be desired. If you are looking to party party party this is the place for you. If you are looking for a quiet getaway stay away from Pefkos! If you've ever been to Disneyland Pefkos is something like that - flashy, cheezy, and catering solely to tourists. Thank goodness we rented a car so we were able to get out of the town all day and enjoy the cultural and historical parts of Rhodes not swarming with tourists. The one redeeming grace of this hotel was that it was a great value. Also, the hosts were beyond gracious. The owner and his two sons George and Stavros are extremely personable."

Loved the summer memories
"We had a two bedroom appartment. Was basic, but we only used it as a place to sleep & shower. Vasillias, his wife & his two sons George & Stavros, were the perfect hosts. You are made to feel part of the family. All the guests seem to mix with one another, which makes it very friendly. The resort itself is geared up for families, our two children loved it. Whilst there you must eat in the Terpsis & Enigma restaurants. In the Enigma, you must try the dish that is nicknamed the "belly button". For a drink, you must visit the fuse bar, where the hosts Lynsey & "Jack" [not his real name] & Lynseys' mother Jenny are lovely people. But be warned don't let Jack talk you into one of his Air Soccer tounaments, cos he always wins the pot. Overall it was an excellent holiday & we are going back, will also stay at Summer Memories. Most people we spoke to there, had stayed before & book direct."

Nice and simple
"Stayed for one week at Summer Memories Apartments - having booked direct with the hotel. Email details are on their website. Overall quite happy with our stay - it was good value and if I was returning to Pefkos I would certainly consider staying at Summer Memories.
The hotel is well located in Pefkos - there is a supermarket right by the entrance and there's a whole range of restaurants / cafes nearby. There is also space for parking if you have a hire car. There is a larger beach that is approx 10 mins walk away and a smaller beach approx 5 mins away. We spent most of our time on the smaller beach which was perfectly ok - sunbeds on both cost E4 / day / sunbed (seems a standard Rhodes rate).
Stayed in room 36 on the first floor. It was a good size with balcony, one double bed, one single a small cooking area with two rings, sink, cupboards & fridge. There was a sofa, good cupboard space and a reasonable shower room with loo & sink. We rented a fan for the week from the hotel for E15 which given the heat we particularly needed at night. All rooms have aircon if you want to pay for it.
The floors are all tiled and cleaned most days - meaning the overall cleanliness was quite good. However bed sheets & towels were changed less frequently despite perhaps needing it due to the heat. The staff were otherwise very friendly and welcoming - especially Vasilas the owner who speaks good English.
There is a pool with sun loungers and bar at the hotel although we spent most of our time out and about so didn't really use them. Lindos is about 5 mins up the road by car - so easily reachable either for a trip out / dinner. It is very picturesque and well worth a visit - either for the sights or the food. We had the use of a hire car - but I think taxis are only about E5 one way.
Faliraki is about 40 mins by car, the airport 50 mins and Rhodes town 1 hour."

One word: Brilliant
"Excellent value, terrific location, friendly staff, good facilities...Summer Memories was perfect for our first week in Greece!
The resort town of Pefki sits at the bottom of a sheer cliff with several sandy beaches within walking distance. There is no 'old town' but the tidy buildings are small, nothing more than 3-storeys. The abundance of restaurants, shops and tavernas will keep you busy for a week or two. There are no late night clubs and the streets buzz late into the night with families and couples strolling about. Plus you're just off the main east coast road, so you can explore the island by hiring a car or taxi or catching the bus.
It was extrememly economical booking direct through their website, about 280 euros for a week self-catering at the end of September/early October in a 2-room, 4-bed apartment with private balcony and side sea view. Our room was clean and bright and adequately furnished with shower, fridge, kitchenette, cooking utensils plus plenty of storage and chairs. I think A/C was extra, but it wasn't that hot for us to need it. One of the town's best mini markets is right across the street selling fruit & veg, milk, fresh bread...all the essentials, plus cheap booze!
Located a few steps off the town road, the apartments are surrounded by fruit trees--fig, pomegranate, and lemon--all ready to pick when we arrived and full of song birds. On the ground floor under a huge bouganveilla is the bar which does simple meals, English breakfasts, drinks and snacks. Then there is the good-sized pool with sun deck, lots of loungers to catch the sun most all day and a paddling pool for the kiddies. There's no swimming after dark so you won't have rowdiness at night.
There was a mix of retirees, families with children of all ages, gay couples, all mostly English. They promote an easygoing family atmosphere, so no late nights with music pumping out of the bar. There is a karaoke night on Saturdays with all you can eat BBQ & buffet for 10 euro, this catered mainly to pre-teens and their parents and winds up around midnight.
You could happily spend a week here without a car as there are taxis and boats to take you to Lindos about 3 miles up the road, plus there's the regular bus service. The town itself has no sights, but the restuarants were generally very good and inexpensive. Plakia Beach was the cleanest and quietest of the beaches. Our summer memories were happy ones!"
