It just keeps getting betterand better
"Just back from our third stay in four years at the fantastic Lindos Mare ( pronounced Maré).
The whole place is centred around the enjoyment and well-being of the guests.
The views are fantastic, the rooms and the hotel are spotlessly clean and well maintained as are the extensive gardens.
What makes this hotel truly special are the staff. From the Manager to the Room Maids, they are friendly, helpful and courteous and make every effort to make guests of all ages and nationalities feel at home. Nothing is too much trouble!
The pool area is very popular and availability of sunbeds on some days is a bit limited, but we understand that there are plans to extend this facility this winter. The small sandy beach at the bottom of the steps (or via the lifts if you prefer) offers a great alternative, and has sunbeds and umbrellas to rent for a small fee, with a couple of local tavernas or the local supermarket accessible for drinks and snacks
The buffet style restaurant offers a wide variety of well-prepared dishes that suit every palate and the speciality themed nights around the pool are fantastic value for money. The entertainment this year has been superb, but not in an intrusive way. If peace and quiet is your scene, then the bar at reception level offers plenty of quiet corners and excellent service.
The menu in the pool-side a la Carte restaurant offers fine dining at an excellent price.
Lindos is only a 5 minute taxi ride away and offers bars, restaurants and plenty of lively places to party.
We booked with Argo Holidays this year and Helen the rep. was great.

"We had a wonderful time at the Lindos Mare! The holiday was very relaxing, the staff were very friendly and went out of their way to make our holiday such a special one! The food was excellent and Michael, Savaas, Marietta and everybody were so kind and thoughtful - nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff at the Lindos Mare!
Having enjoyed such a wonderful holiday, we hope to return in the near future."

The Best Hotel By Far: Michelle and Mark
"My wife and I stayed at the Lindos Mare in July for our Honeymoon, and as seasoned travellers, we can both say that the hotel was out of this world. The weather was great but the thing that really made our honeymoon was the hotel and the way they made us feel. I had read previous reviews, and all commented on the staff and how good they were, but we were still not expecting the welcome that we recieved, the cleaners, through to the bar staff (including Stavros), and the restaurant staff (Raluca especially) through to the manager Thanasis, were all amazing. I can not fail to mention the restaurant manager Michaelis, who constantly kept us entertained and was so much fun. I have already recommended this hotel to many friends and collegues. The Spa was really relaxing and well worth a visit, thanks again to Giannis and Polly for the massages and making us seem more like friends than visitors. Excellent food and the beach was great for evryone, kids included. If you stay there make sure you go for atleast two weeks, as one will definately not be enough!!"

the best hotel in rhodes
"we stayed at this hotel on the last two weeks in june of 2006. we had booked this hotel with the travel agent manos. we do like a nice hotel, and this one was absolute fabulous,. im realy fussy and could pick the best hotel in the world to bits. this was rated a four star in the brochure , we had booked a junior suite, which we then upgraded to a suite. the view was amazing . we had our little girl with us and the extra room gave us lots more space and it was great to put her to her bed and still feel you could move about without wakeing her The staff at this hotel is amazing they are without doubt the most friendly , efficent, warm people i have ever come across. nothing is a bother and they are there witha smile and and are great with kids. the food is realy good but sometimes we would change our dinner for lunch and eat in lindos, this was great as when all the daytrippers leave lindos it is the most majical place, plenty restuarants and cool funky bars. its 7 euros on a taxi in and 5 euros back.
we would also upgraded our dinner to the A L carte. michelas is the martr d, the man is amazing and runs a great tight ship , and makes everyone feel special and attended to, my daughter adored him.. the a l carte is very nice the food was great and the staff too.
the pool in great, baby pool nice and shallow , pool towels changed everyday at the spa. the spa is great my husband had the thai massage , and was a new man!
the entertainment was low key, but very tastfull, and a big hit.
this hotel is really good and i cannot find fault, we have already booked for next june. and as i sit here in cold scotland( and its only august) the only thing that keeps me going, is my next holiday .x"

The Lindos Mare is a superb hotel
"The approach to the hotel doesn't seem much at first, but as you
will find out, it it absolutely stunning once you are there! The first thing we encountered when entering the hotel were the smiling faces of the staff and I'm glad to say that continued for the rest of the 14 nights! Our bags were taken to our room ( and us escorted) . We had a junior suite, double bed and two sofa/single beds sat.TV,free air con, fridge. Room was lovely and clean, a bit narrow but still enough room to get about and the view across the bay was breathtaking. Our five year old son loved a cool bath in the evening after the long, HOT days out and about. The buffet food was very good; we love traditional greek food and so i was suprised that the food was a range of this and continental. Hot and cold buffet good -food changed regulary so not left out in the warm too long. The main meal ( if you wanted it-there was so much buffet stuff you could have instead!) I sometimes wasn't too keen on mainly because it wasn't always Greek. Our sons favourite was the dessert and cake table! Fresh coffee and Greek youghurt and honey in the morning a great combination! The pool was lovely although beware- the hotel caters for many wedding groups and often you could not get a sunbed until later in the day. The beach ( which does not belong to the hotel so you pay a small charge for sunbeds) is nice for a swim and to relax, sandy at lindos mare end, pebbles at other end of the bay. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your holiday the best. Weekly greek night and BBQ's which we would not usually attend but we discovered that our son loved a bit of Greek dancing and entertainment! Try the Seabass cooked on the BBQ-Delicious! The A' La carte restaurant has superb dishes as well and worth every penny. Our son had his birthday on holiday and Michaelis the Restaurant manager and staff sang happy birthday to him in 5 different languages-hilarious! Free birthday cake, bottle of bubbly and fruit in the room. Go to Lindos if you seek more entertainment- it is a stunning little town.Vlicha bay has a beach bar and two tavernas and mini market. We were spoilt on this holiday and I can honestly say we will never forget it!"

"We stayed in the Lindos Mare for 2 weeks recently and I could not fault the hotel. Yes, the water in the bathroom was cool at certain times in the evening, but you just noted this and showered a bit earlier or later. You're on holiday, why let simple things like that upset you!
The hotel has fantastic views. It's a bit confusing when you first arrive because the hotel is on several different levels and you have to get used to which lifts go where. It meant that the rooms were more spread out and therefore quieter. We had a junior suite and it was really spacious with our own terrace looking straight out over the bay. It was just so relaxing to sit out in the evening.
We are semi vegetarian and always found several different choices at dinner. The choice at breakfast time was excellent too. Even to the point of offering smoked salmon and sparkling wine on a Sunday.
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel."

"We stayed at this hotel in june 2005 and are looking to return next year. I just wanted to post a review to advise people this is by far one of the best hotels i have ever stayed in and after years working within the travel industy and as cabin crew flying all over the world i cannot believe that people are whining over water being warm (if you don t already know water in greece is heated by solar power so it is irrelevant whether you stay in a 5* hotel or 1* apartment this is bound to happen)
instead of wasting your time reading to see if you can wash your hair properly read the positive reviews about wonderful friendly staff, great food and atmosphere, comfortable rooms, fabulous views and great location
Do not hesitate to book in, after all who wants a hot bath after a relaxing day spent in the wonderful greek sunshine"

Third fantastic visit to the Lindos Mare - can't wait to go back again!
"Weâve just returned from our third visit to the Lindos Mare (we got married there this year!) â and have already booked to go out there for our honeymoon year which will give you an idea of how fantastic this hotel is!
The location and views are simply stunning. From the moment you walk into the cool classy surroundings of the hotel reception and look from the cocktail verandah to the fabulous views of Vlicha Bay, I guarantee, you will be hooked! There are fantastic views from every part of the hotel which is set in attractive gardens leading down to the beach.
Iâve never been to a hotel where every single member of staff is so genuinely friendly and helpful, they really do make a stay at the Mare even more special. Special mention of course must go to Michalis, the maitre dâ â he is fantastic!
The selection of food at the hotel is excellent. When we stayed this year, we were accompanied by 21 friends and family, with the youngest being 2 years old and the eldest 81. Everyone enjoyed the food which tells you what a good variety there was, and my vegetarian friends and sister-in-law were well catered for too. There is a hot and cold buffet for breakfast and dinner (the hot buffet is cooked freshly in the restaurant) and at dinner there is also the choice from 3 main dishes of the day, so you can have just the buffet, or a main, or both!
Donât miss the Greek night held once a week at the a la carte, for a supplement to your half board meal there is a hot and cold buffet and barbecue with traditional Greek dishes, and music and dancing. Itâs a great evening and very popular.
We got married at St Paulâs Bay and had our reception back at the Mare in the a la carte restaurant overlooking the bay, it was a lovely evening and everything was really nice. Further to an earlier posting I saw, I can honestly say that while we were there for 2 weeks we only noticed the a la carte restaurant closed for weddings on about 3 occasions, every time we wanted to eat there it was open for all guests.
The cocktail bar near reception is well worth visiting. The cocktails are excellent, and they have a happy hour before dinner so we often went there for an aperitif whilst enjoying the late afternoon sun on the terrace.
This year we used the Spa at the Mare for the first time as a number of treatments were included in our wedding package. It really is an oasis of calm, I totally recommend the massages â the prices are very reasonable too. Beach towels are available free of charge from the Spa, and you can change them as often as you like. They give you a card when you first go in to collect them, which you get signed off and give to reception when you take the towels back at the end of your holiday.
There is also car hire available from the hotel. We hired a jeep from them the first year, but last year we hired one from an international company because we wanted to pick it up from the airport and we ended up paying heaps more and the 4WD didnât work properly! This year we hired from the hotel again and it was great. Rhodes is very easy to navigate your way around and it is well worth having the freedom to explore on your own. It takes about 5 minutes to drive to Lindos.
You can walk in to Lindos from the hotel which takes approx 20 minutes, or take a taxi or a bus (the bus stop is right outside the hotel). Lindos has a taxi rank in the main square so itâs easy to get a cab back. If we were going to Lindos in the evening weâd generally walk in and get a cab back.
We canât wait to go back next year, roll on June 2007!"

Tears and Tantrums
"Having a wife and 2 daughters all with long hair who loved to spend their days swimming in the sea and pool and sunbathing, the tepid water situation was a nightmare. Every night when it came to getting ready for dinner there were tears and tantrums and quite frankly, I agree with a previous review, it isn't acceptable in ANY hotel. What is the point in providing bathrooms with BATH TUBS when there isn't enough hot water to accommodate even showers? We have stayed in hotels all over the world, many bigger than this one and never encountered this problem before.
Our holiday wasn't completely spoiled, however, I didn't think much of the main courses at dinner time. boring and repetitive and those plates outside covered in clingfilm did nothing to inspire one."

friendly hotel in with great views
"Location, location, location is what this hotel is all about. From the smart reception area via a quaint cable car down to the pool area and beyond, guest rooms tumble down the hillside like so many concrete shoe boxes. We booked a junior suite which was huge with a breathtaking view out to Vlicha Bay and beyond from the lovely flower bedecked patio. Room was clean but shower was lukewarm at around 18.30, a point picked up by other reviews. Floors are tiled and there is an empty fridge. There is a mini-market, handy for water etc., near to the pool. There are two small supermarkets within 15 mins walk along the "promenade" Restaurant was just about OK but we found it rather uncomfortable early evening with the sun blasting in. After sunset is much better as guests are not tied to a specific time or table here. There is an A La Carte restaurant by the pool which tends to be monopolised by the many wedding parties staying here. You will see many posh frocks and lots of sweaty men in immaculate dress suits. If you have a birthday whilst staying here, be prepared for one or two pleasant surprises. (I think they crog your birth-date from your passport). Entertainment was pretty dire here apart from the Greek bouzouki band who were excellent as opposed to the AWFUL beatles band and the excruciating song and dance act that would be thrown off any British pier if they ever dared set foot over here. Lovely sun-bathing area on lawn by beach, very relaxing here. Not much else to do at night but Lindos is not far away. You could walk it but it is a busy main road and we didn't fancy it. Bus to Lindos and Rhodes town stops at the end of the drive, timetable in reception. We paid 85 euros for three days car-hire, petrol is very cheap. Rhodes Island is beautiful south and west of Lindos and totally unspoiled on the west coast road to the incredible castle at Monolithos. The old city of Kameiros is well worth the trip. Elsewhere, a bit scruffy apart from Rhodes town which is wonderful and why are there so many unfinished villas everywhere.??? In short then, a wonderful quirky hotel with lovely friendly staff and we would highly recommend The Lindos Mare."
