"Stayed at the Daniel in 2005 was one of the worst places we have ever stayed! Room allocated to us was dirty, and urgently needed updating. No childrenâs pool. Everything you expect as basic cost's extra such as: Kettle Fridge (we were told that they donât put them in rooms as it encourages you to buy cold drinks from the bar) Safety Deposit Box Cooked breakfast (The fact that any Hotel can get away with charging 1e -approx 70p for a boiled egg is appalling). Air Conditioning is expensive and the key to operate it is welded to the room key so you canât leave it on when you go out, even though it's quite expensive to hire for 2 weeks Things got so bad here 10 days into our 2 week holiday we paid to stay in another Hotel, and on booking out they didnât even ask why we were leaving! We never booked a theme night as we had been forewarned they werenât up to much, however on leaving the Hotel one "Greek Themed Night" guests were sitting around the bar watching Westlife videos! Overall impression was that the hotel tried everyway possible to get as much money out of your pocket no matter what. This hotel boasts 3* with 5* star service, if this is 5* service then I would hate to see what their 3* star service is. Much better hotels in the vicinity! "

"Hotel was basic but value for money. Friendly staff at bar and breakfast and some reception staff. Nice view from balcony. Quiet location, petrol station shop next door for odd bits and pieces, nice restaurant 2 min walk away. Very friendly people in village and surrounding areas - always helpful and want you to be satisfied. Car hire few mins away. Basic pool. Went 3rd week in Oct so no kids. Overall good."

This was my third visit to Rhodes, first...
"This was my third visit to Rhodes, first to this resort. Hotel Daniel is 5 k from Lindos and 50K from Rhodes Town. Just over 3/4 hour from airport. The Daniel is situated on the main road. Our room was at the side - with road, mountain and sea views. The road was busy but not unduly noisy. The sea was a flat 20 minute walk away. The beach has sunbeds but is very pebbly so not good for swimming although there is sand at the beach entrance. There was a 'cafe' of sorts on the beach but this was closed on the day we visited. There were three cafes/restaurants within spitting distance of the beach. There is a hotel very near the beach - that is all. Itâs quite bleak. The hotel is clean but very basic. Staff were friendly. Breakfast consists of bread (or toast) with jam and honey and cornflakes with tea, coffee and watery orange juice. Fried breakfast was available for 4e, boiled egg 1e or omelette 2e. Snacks were available from pool bar throughout day until 6.00pm. There was food available on two evenings of the week which consisted of a barbecue and a Greek night. Food was not available on other evenings at the hotel. There are only about 5 places to eat in this resort. We did have excellent food in these and were the most reasonable. Food in Lindos was not as good as here. Most people in hotel seemed to go out to eat in evening then come back to hotel and sit round bar until late. (TV and screen showing DVDs of Robbie, Shania, Simply Red etc). We had taken a kettle with us but these were available to hire for 1e a day. A hairdryer was available to borrow from reception. Hotel offered money changing facilities, nearest ATM was at the beach hotel (20 min walk away). There were 2 ATMs in Lindos. 90% English staying in hotel. Whoever says the Germans are dreadful for early rising to put their towels out have obviously never stayed in a hotel with other Brits. There were no Germans in this hotel but plenty of towels on empty beds. SHAME. Taxis are available to call from reception - we hired one to Lindos. We were charged 10e to get to Lindos (the hotel calling for the taxi) and paid 7e to come back (getting our own). I slipped down in Lindos; the pavements were very, very slippery. Wear non-slip shoes if you visit this beautiful town. The hotel is on a bus route so all main resorts easily available - Lindos, Faliraki, Afandou, and Rhodes Town etc. Bus travel is cheap and the driver tells you where you are. Pay on the bus at resorts but in Rhodes Town get your tickets at small wooden kiosk. They will give you a printed bus ticket with bus number printed on it - very simple. Rhodes town full of English 'holiday time-share touts' which get on your nerves. What they are selling is a load of rubbish - we went to listen to their 'presentation'. They are basically selling 5 weeks holiday for £3,500. This did not include flight, transport to resort or food. This had to be arranged by you separately. One week had to be taken in Rhodes (self catering). Stick with booking on-line - itâs cheaper!! Weather was glorious, although we did have one day when it rained in the afternoon/evening. Not bad for Whitsun. We didn't even need cardi for evenings. There was little to do locally and only a couple of shops. I would recommend this for resort for older people/couples who are capable of 'getting out and about' on their own. My husband was bit to death my mozzies which made him miserable all week. We have never been bitten so much. There was no kidâs pool for young children and the beach for not suitable to play on. It seemed many of the guests had been many times before so obviously there love it here. Although the holiday was OK, I have had better. I firmly believe you get what you pay for and this was cheap and cheerful. "

"Very friendly hotel, always clean and nice and quiet. Some kids around but not many and everyone staying there was friendly. Night's arranged that were a good laugh and various activities kept us busy if we wanted to be. Beach was a short walk away if the pool got too much. Air conditioning at a price, as well as safe deposit. Not really anywhere to go for food or drink, the local village was sparse, however Lindos was a short taxi ride away and well worth it. All in all, basic but clean. Friendly staff and guests and an enjoyable trip."

"My friend and I were in desperate need of a break from our busy/stressful jobs. The Hotel Daniel turned out to be a haven for us. The staff are so friendly and made us feel very at home, and there was no pressure to go on trips or to join in any activities laid on at the hotel. Being two females, we wanted a quiet location with restaurants and night light not too far away, which is exactly what we found. Above all, we felt very safe going out and about on our own especially at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our all too brief week, we both felt totally relaxed from day one and are looking to go back again this year."

What a Great Hotel
"My family and I vistited the Daniel Hotel this summer and I have to admit that it was the best holiday I had in long time. From the minute we arrived until the time we left the staff was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The even gave us access to their fridge in the kitchen so we can store our baby's milk. The theme night were great and the food served was excellent. The price of 8 Euros/adult and 4 Euros/child was very just right for us. Everyone we met there seemed to be a regular guest at the hotel. Well!!! I do not blame them. We are looking into prices for next year as well. We will be happy to visit the hotel again. See you soon Daniel Hotel!!!"

fishboul in my garden
"out in the sticks, the hotels night,s are pool night, 8 eauro,e for cold rubish, and film night, i ask you who wants to watch a big screen on holls, only5 resteraunts, and 2 of them a 3/4 hr walk, 30mins to walk to a nice but shingle beach(watch for flying nasties)pool like a fish boul, it talks 7 overarm s from one end to other, and breakfast is a joke, nice choice, bread and jam, or bread toasted with jam, but u can buy an egg at 1 euro, but boiled fried or scrambled, you wont tell the difference, the only nice thing for all 9 of us was yannies bar to the right of hotell, small but friendle, he also runs the beach cafe, eats are good and cheap, sardine special to rhodes, ok but be carefull as you can be pushed in the front door and out the back, before you want to get off at rhodes, joke but true, so be well greesed beforeyou get on, if it wasent for a brill gang of people i went with, this could have been the worse holl hotell ever,"

We've Booked to Go Again!!!
"Although we visited this hotel a few years ago I have had to write this review to hit back at the appalling review Hotel Daniel received by one individual in this forum... The fact that I feel so strongly after all this time is a mark of the amazing impression this place had on myself and my now husband... Yes, it's basic, but the people who both work in and the ones who visit, year after year, truly make this a holiday place you will want to revisit. Rhodes itself is the perfect holiday destination, try a daytrip to Symi... idyllic! We also hired a car, a must if you really want to visit those places you otherwise would miss, and to come this far without seeing everything would be a crime.. it's fabulous! We have travelled 5 star and we have travelled basic, next year we're on a budget and we have rebooked the one and only Hotel Daniel, we wouldn't want to stay anywhere else on Rhodes, you wouldn't get a warmer welcome than here. This hotel is the perfect base to discover Rhodes but it is hard to drag yourself away from the excellent entertainment on offer! But do try...For the record I am 36,my husband is 32 but age doesn't matter here, you're as old or as young as you want to be and no one cares!! Budget Holiday perfection....x"

"I have been going to the hotel daniel for 8 years now and every year I find people going back year after year also this is the only hotel that is full for the length of the season. This I belive is enough proof that the majority of people love it it is a family hotel where you are not just a room number but able to mix with everyone in the hotel and become one of the family. This hotel is very basic true do not expect to pay a budget price and get luxury you are only fooling yourself but it is clean freindly and in a excellent position. Your hotel is a base, it is comfatable and you could not be made more welcome by stergos and his staff. There are 3 theme nights that offer you the chance to eat excellent greek food for only 8 euro max and mix with other guests great nights. Visit Yannis bar in kalathos 5 mins from hotel he is a gem although many more guests now know this hidden treasure and he is bar far the busiest bar for miles due to good entertainment and yanni always has time for you a must visit. To sum up the hotel is basic but it is clean, and the welcome you get and the way you are looked after is far superiour than many 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Well worth a stay just ask the many guests who come back year after year. A very relaxing holiday"

"The Hotel Daniel is definitely not a five star accomodation but considering the price it is worth considering. Far from disgusting as a previous writer wrote, it is clean but basic. The grounds are welcoming and the staff is excellent. The breakfast is not inspirational (very simple continental). The VIP rooms are spacious and comfortable. If you're looking for basic B&B accomodation and a base from which to explore the Lindos area then Daniel, in my opinion, fits the bill. I would return!"
