don't stay here
"Stayed here for 2 weeks, when we arrived we was greeted by a nice guy that booked us in and then showed us where our room was, overall the swimming area is OK, hardly ever cleaned out so very cloudy, the bar man at night is worked off his feet with only him working, the manager of the hotel is horrible, treats his staff like a piece of poo on the bottom of his shoe, is always demanding staff of what to do and never does anything himself, they say you get what you pay for well that wasn't even worth the money I payed, the meals well advice is eat early but still only just very warm, and most of the time its all the same stuff, the chefs are okay they greet you before your meal, the drinks are very limited and the cocktails are fake do not drink them, Jack Daniels is not Jack Daniels, been told by a fellow Greek mate that they are all made up using tablets, I advise you not to waist your time and effort on booking this hotel, it shouldn't even be a 3 star hotel its never been a 3 star more like 1-2, if you are wanting a crap hotel them come here, !!!!! "This hotel was meant to be AI.. that's a joke Firstly we didn't bring towels with us as with AI they are usually included...not here 3 euros each towel, we had to buy 2 towels. Our room... well....shower head broken, the room was dirty, it was dark and dingy. Air con usually included... not here.. cost us 30 euros and when our unit was broken, We had at least 2ltrs of water caught in a bucket dripping from the unit overnight. I had to fight the management for 2 days and five complaints to get moved rooms. Then they attached the key to our door key so we couldn't keep the air con on(that we paid for). our garden view was someone else balcony but the second room view of the car park was much better...at least the room had light. Drinks....well... water juice and tea/coffee served at breakfast 7.30-9-30 then nothing till 10.30. After then we were only allowed beer or wine or tea/coffee until 5.00 The bar the closed completely till 5.45 after which we could get cocktails till 10.30...outside these times you had to pay! Most days it was in the high 30's not being able to drink even water at certain times is barbaric., The food!!!!! I work in catering and the food here was well below standard. it was reheated, cold and bland. completely disgusting, so much so that we had to eat out of the hotel. We only took a small amount of cash with us and had to get family member to transfer money so we could eat. Beach... well it certainly wasn't 500 meters away... more like 1500 meters . My husband has fallen arches in his feet and struggles to walk long distances. we had to stop and sit 3/4 times to reach the beach. This holiday was booked as it is our 25th anniversary and we were really looking forward to it...Paying £440 each for this hovel is outrageous. The staff were miserable and unhelpful. The Hotel owner sat at the bar, barking his orders and was damn right rude to both guests and his staff. Our second room was not cleaned, we had no clean towels or bedding throughout our stay, we used our own. There was a dead bug in our bathroom that spent the whole week with us!!!! Doors bang constantly, keeping us awake. the manager was always slamming the door to his room or office. Over all this hotel is not up to standard. no where near. I am upset and disappointed that We paid for a AI holiday and ended up self catering. "

worst hotel ever !!!!!
"There is so many bad things that i can say about this hotel i dont know where to start. We dident pay a lot for the holliday so we were not expecting the Ritz but the accomodation leaved a lot to be desired. The room was furnished with old furniture which was painted in peeling off blue paint the bathroom had a tiny bath with a shower on a hose from the taps which could not be hung on the wall so the only way to have a shower was to crouch in the bath and try to shower yourself which was wery difficult and ended with the bathroom coverd in water. The room had air con but only if you paid 5 euro per night The pool area was fine with plenty of sunbeds so this was fine. The all inclusive bar and food was a joke. This was my first time at an all inclusive and i was unshure what to expect but according to other guests at the hotel this was not like any other all inclusive. The food was terrible breakfast alternated between baked beans and scrambled egg with stale bread. an example of lunch was some kind of pie made out of left over scrambled egg old chips and potatoes and for dinner it was allways the same kind of lame food mousaka with no mince meat, greek salad with no fetta cheese beef stew with more fat in it than meat. I wouldent give this food to my dog if i fell out with it !! The all inclusive bar had some very strange rules you were not allowed a vodka and coke only a vodka and lemonade. If you asked for a glass of vodka and a glass of coke you were not allowed and told only one glass per person. You were not alowed a dash of lime in your beer only in a cocktail. The wine was like vinegar i even heard one person being turned down for a glass with ice in. These silly bar rules seemed to annoy all of the guests ( i could write a full page of them there is so many rules and regulations ) i cant see why you can have a vodka lemonade but not coke its like they want people to complain. The main problem with this hotel is the attitude and rudeness of the staff. The hotel is run by a large greek man which we dubbed the fat controller. He seemed to spend all day spying on his staff shouting at them loudley in front of guests. On one occasion an elderly lady that had a complaint about the bar staff tried complaining to him and he just turned his back to her and walked off. The lady that worked in the bar in the day time was nice and pleasant who allways smiled as did the the daytime staff on reception and man who worked nights on reception i felt sorry for them they must have realey needed the money to put up with that kind of abuse. The worst of the staff was a a greek man who worked at the bar i am not shure of his name but everything was too much effort for him and he scowled when you asked him for something and on the last day this happend. ON THE LAST DAY WHILE WAITING TO BE PICKED TO GO TO THE AIRPORT HE DROVE PAST US OUTSIDE THE HOTEL WOUND DOWN HIS WINDOW AND SAID " DO YOU HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO ME ? " I REPLIED " NO " HE THEN SAID " I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY TO YOU - **** YOU " HE THEN SPAT IN MY FACE AND DROVE OFF IN HIS CAR. This kind of behaviour is un acceptable in any situation i felt violated and just wanted to leave greece and never come back i have complained to the hotel but i dont think they care. I am however persuing a claim against my holliday company because you do not come on holliday to be abused. So be warned yes this hotel is cheap but the food is gross the bar is a joke and the attitude of the staff is dispicable and their is a good chance someone will spit in your face. Book at your peril !!!!!!!!! "

Holiday from hell
"The hotel Loutanis should be wiped off the face of the earth. The hotel is run by a man who has no concern for his guests, only how much profit he can make. The room which we were allocated was very basic. Our beds were a mattress on a concrete base. The food I would not offer to pigs. You are allowed an Ice cream after 2.30pm. only, and then only till 5.00pm.the canteen (I could never consider it a restaurant) had a toaster which could only be described as lethal. You had to hold down levers and then wait until your bread was toasted, then you had to fish the toast out of the toaster with a knife or fork.whilst the toaster was "live". When my wife reported this ,they said they would look at it. The toaster was still there when we left last thursday 22nd. Sept. To anyone considering this hotel for a holiday I would say "NO NO NO". I cannot believe our tourist industry could use this hotel. "

"Just came back from this hotel. Never again ! The food is terrible, under cooked fish, pork etc. Breakfast - scrammbled eggs, fried eggs and boiled eggs. Don't want to see another egg for along time. Trying to get a drink at the bar - waited for 15 mins at least. Food is recycled to the next day. Poor food choice. Not enough sun beds which caused friction at the pool. Staff generally miserable and looking for another job. Pay the extra and stay at another hotel."

Value for money for a quick break
"This no frills hotel doesn't deserve the bad reports previously posted. It has had a refurb and is possibly under new management. It is a family run hotel and this is evident from the number of 'guests' who were known to the owners. It is also mainly used by eastern european guests who dominated the main pool but kept themselves to themselves. This hotel is fine for a quick week in the sun especially if on a budget. Don't expect 5 star accomodation when booking a 2/3 star in Greece. This is an all inclusive hotel and the food is excellent value. It is clean and there is maid service almost every day. There are 3 beaches that are all walkable (approx 20/30 mins) but in extreme heat it is advisable to get the free minibus run by the hotel 3 times a day. The beaches are a mixture of sand and shingle/pebble and swimming is safe without too much of a current and no waves. There are quite a few showers dotted along the beaches to keep cool if the sea isn't your thing. Kolimbia town is also walkable and is busier in the evening than during the day. The bars are friendly and mainly low key. Stick to Falaraki for the lively areas. This hotel is not great for groups of friends but fine for a couple who don't mind their own company. The bar area in the hotel on occasion played loud music till the early hours but this can't be heard from the rooms at the far end of the plot. Overall no complaints - you get what you pay for,"

"where to begin? when i went there i didnt expect miracles, in the end 3 stars but still i didnt expect something like this. the hotel itself as a building, location is good. away from the main part of Kolymbia and nicely set up. not far away from the beach, bus stop and so on. but the staff is probably going to be the cause why this place will be shut down very soon. the owner is the worst greek (is he even greek???) i have ever seen. shouting at his staff, no english at all, controls how much who drinks and how much bar staff gives away. the morning barman is ok, young and v. friendly. but the afternoon one is horrible. he refuses to give you drinks just because his boss sits next to the bar and says so (in greek) no communication what so ever. last evening of my stay he refused to give me ice saying that it is for him not for the guests. in general the staff gave me an impression that they would be over the moon if we would pay and never arrive at the hotel. if anyone wants more in depth descriptions im sure people who have been there very recently will be posting more about the situations that took place. like huuuge bugs found in food, food that was off by months, and orange juice of the water colour. dont go there. avoid it."

NOT RECOMMENDED - Please Avoid this Hotel if an enjoyable holiday is wanted!
"Where to start. This was supposed to be a quiet family ran hotel but they were trying to be like the beach hotels with loud music. The main problem is the loud, LOUD, music and dreadful Karaoke that plays throughout the night and into the early morning 4pm, in front of all the accommodation so that there is no chance of getting any sleep. Several guests had made their opinions known but they did not improve the situation. We were then woken in the morning by the barking dogs that they have on the premises. The food was awful and we started eating out in the other restaurants mentioned by others on this sight. (We would warn to check for so called alcoholic cocktail drinks in Rhodes as they usually do the trick with the diluted drinks then offer a free liqueur to make out they are being friendly. It is easy to spot, after a few you are still sober as a judge and I rarely drink). Guests were complaining that they were being overcharged for drinks at the bar. The bed collapsed when we were there and we were told that it could be done tomorrow, the manager was very rude and suggestive by insinuations as to why it broke. We soon put him straight about a few things. We reported this to the very young and inexperienced rep who was a pointless distraction to the holiday. Rhodes is a wonderful place, the weather was hot and dry, beautiful at this time of year but this hotel was the pits and we do NOT recommend. We went with Olympic Holidays of whom the rep was useless. The compensation offered was a discount on another holiday, NO thanks and never again. Please avoid this Hotel at all costs if you want an enjoyable holiday. Ps. Our postcards never reached their destination, the daughter of the Hotel must have read them, discovered how much we had complained about the hotel and did not post them for us!"

holiday from hell
"we have just got back from the loutanis hotel in kolymbia I agree with the other holiday makers on here. Please Please do not go to this hotel. We had the most filthy accomodation that you could imagine. The Food was diabolical and the drinks were watered down including the pop. Snacks for an all inclusive holiday consisted off cold pizza one and a cake cut into slices the next. The manager was the rudest man i have ever met. He spent all our holiday shouting at the bar staff and the cleaners. Gave his staff a warning about give to big a measure in a glass or giving 2 pieces of chicken instead of 1, What was meant to be a relaxing holiday turned into a night mare. Travelled through MEDLIFE the rep was a joke. Our case was badly damaged and had to be replaced and it took the rep all week to bring us a form to fill in he couldnt even be bothered to come himself on the transfer day and kept fobbing us off. I was really glad that we found 'nicos bar and the carousel excellent food and good company oh and not forgetting zorbas bar yannis and the girls made us feel very welcome. Rhodes itself is amazing but the loutanis does not deserve to be called all inclusive. The bathing facilites were grose it made me feel sick to go in the bathroom## So please dont go to the loutanis"

Never again at the Loutanis
"This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. All inclusive never in a million years. Breakfast eggs and beans all cold (we did get 2 days of warm bacon bits and hot dog like sausages not very nice). Dinner and Tea was served by a sullen girl who served you with very little portions and gave you strange looks if you asked for another portion. No variety for children spaggetti bolognese with no meat or chicken or fish nuggets with cold chips, If food not gone at lunch it would be served again in a sauce for tea. Couldn't stomach it so ate out at Nikos and Carrousel restaurants, for 30 euros or less for 4 of us including drinks .The food was delicious and plenty of it .Would recommend to anyone. Between 11am and 12.30 COLD Pizza served every day as SNACKS in a glass cabinet on the bar. Ice cream served from 2pm til 5pm only,( if you could get it )there was only 1 girl on the ice cream and bar who also had to clear up and wash up the glasses. You had to wait in the hot sun for at least 15mins and then the rude Chez or polish would push in and these are 95% who are staying in the hotel. Afternoon SNACKS was cake only served in the same glass cabinet as the Pizza in the morning. When the 2 cakes were gone no more ,and guess who had most of it !!!!! . The drinks were watered down and only served in small glasses as it took so long to get served you needed to get yourself more than 1 at a time . This didn't go down well with the staff. The drinks were locked up as soon as the serving time had elapsed. Very limited items at the bar. Not enogh sunbeds around the 2 pools these were taken by the chez who put the towels on them over night even though notices ( in ENGLISH ONLY) all around t say they would be taken off. WE did put our towels out and found they were the only ones thrown in the pool the next morning. The big fat owner just sat and gave orders to the lone worker on the bar and was very rude to all staff. When we complained politley about the food the manager told us he wanted us English to leave and spoke to the rep about this we were then told we would have to pay £400 to get moved for a week. We didn't have the money so had to stay. The staff were not very friendly but I'm sure you wouldn't be if you had to work there. The only smiling face was the man on reception at night. The pool areas was nice but he pool only vacuumed once in the 2 wks we were there, not cleaned around the water line at all as green scum line around the top. The rooms are basic and we only had a shower that we had to hang on the taps and stand in a square basin, water got all over the floor. Dangerous for kids and us to slip on. Our beds were stone with matress on and child had a camp bed. When rooms cleaned towels or toilet rolls not always left had to go to reception and ask for them. . I could go on but I have writers cramp .Please don't book at the Lutanis or be it on your own head YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED."

Did Not Like This Hotel At All!!!
"Well where do I start...you have to live at this Hotel to actually believe what it's like...bit like faulty towers - lol!!! The staff at times look at you as though you are daft & say they do not understand English, so most of the time it's pointless complaining. The food is disgusting & has very little choice especially for kids. The food is cold & there is always someone behind the counter serving particular kinds of foods i.e chicken or fish in which they put on your plate & if you ask for another piece they look at you as though you should not be asking for another serving. This is supposed to be all inclusive which means to me that you should be able to eat as much as you like - certainly not at this Hotel!!! At breakfast time, the eggs looked half cooked & no bread is available to have toast. Only cold pizza was provided as a snack during the day & that was minging too. The lunch & dinner was mostly the same every day (also minging) but we did not eat at the Hotel & went to a place called Niko's. This restaurant is lovely with really nice, friendly staff & the food is brilliant & good value for money with huge portions. (Totally the opposite from the people at the Hotel...) At the bar there is only 1 girl serving drinks all day which means you can be waiting up to 15mins to get a drink. Most of the time other foreigners would be served before any British folk. Also when it was time for ice-cream the girl from the bar would go away to serve ice-cream which meant that no-one was covering for her to serve drinks to others. The island itself is beautiful with lovely people. Although the Hotel was crap we still had a great time as we met alot of really nice people from Scotland, England & people from the bars & reataurants within Kolymbia, Greece. The rooms are basic & our room did not have a shower hook which meant that my partner had to hold the shower. Sometimes the dirty towels would be folded up to look like they had provided you with clean towels but really it was the dirty ones. The bedding is suppossed to be changed daily but this not the case while we where there. There is only entertainment on a Mon (Greek night) & a Wed (Karaoke). This was very disappointing as we where there for 2 weeks & had to go outside the complex most nights to surrounding bars etc. There is no sports games during the day or entertainment at night & no kids clubs for the children. Luckly my son met a few friends which kept him occupied during the day & to play pool with. There is a mini play area but the swings are corroded & look as though they are about to break. The pool was never cleaned at the bottom or drained in the whole 2 wks we where there. To be honest the list is endless & I would defo not recommend this Hotel to my worst enemy. This Hotel really does need to buck up their ideas if they want to attract more British folk .... PS. Watch out for the fat controller..... Tina & Cha, Scotland"

"the staff where not freindly, the only smile we got was from the night poter on reception, the food the plain , no taste and was the same for breakfast lunch and dinner everyday, this was served by 2 people a lady on the hot plate which give you the meat and very very little of it, and a man on the salad side, both of which never smiled, the dinning room , was too small for the amout of people there, we booked trips and had to be picked up at 7.15am breakfast opens at 7am, you wouldnt get in 2 mins early, as the manager told staff not to open till 7am, the poolside bar doesnt open till 10am sometimes 10.15 by the time she get everything put right, so you cant get a drink of water till then as the water is on the machine with the juice, and it doesnt get turned on till she starts,(managements orders) one girl on the poolbar, you stand ages in the sun waiting for a drink which is watered down and in a small glass, your that thristy, you drink it almost right away and then back to standing in the que again, till the girl goes out and picks up all the glasses washes them sits them back on the counter ,then you will get your drink, unless like most of the people there they just butt in on front of you, no manners what so ever and the hotel manager sit and watches everything you drink or eat, hes alway on the staffs back about something, there was a man at the pol trying to fill the water bottle for the baby and because it wouldnt fit under the machine there was water falling on the ground the manager started to shout at him, if you wanted a ice cream it was 1 person i couldnt get 1 for my husband, this hotel seems to cater for the chezs and polish people not english folk, after the 4 days we eat out all the time at a place called nickos food was great , i wouldnt advise anyone to go to this hotel, not even if it was the last place on earth, there was no atmosphere what so ever, the hotel was clean ans tidy i will give it that and rhodes is a lovely place, the people in the shop and bars are very nice"
